We stayed in the Mon Repo which is next door to the Restaurant so we went in the middle of our holiday (Mid Sept) the setting is lovely and the food was excellent but the service was below Par and had to ask for bread three times and then the waitress nearly took it away again when I said that I had asked somebody else. A bit like Faulty Towers in that respect. Well worth the visit.

this is an excellent restaurant. The food was great - try the lamb, it just melted in my mouth! But even better, try the cheesecake! Its home-made and you could eat about 3 pieces! Staff were very friendly and kind. Its a little out of town but easy walking distance which is good as you can walk off the bottle of wine on the way home! Will come again. Jem and Lee.xx

When I get a meal I expect to get some chips with it. There were literally 5 chips on my plate. It was ridiculous.

Had a very enjoyable meal here in July.  The Zakynthian Chicken Dish was very very tasty.  Their Garlic Bread is also very nice.  It is a very peaceful setting to have your meal away from the hustle and bustle of the Main Strip.  The people serving here were also very nice and you did not have long to wait on your meal.  Good choice on the menu as well.  Would definitely recommend this place to eat out.

This is the best restaurant in Laganas. We went here the first night....and even after trying several others...kept going back!  We tried several different meals and each one was delicious.  The service is excellent also and the price isnt too bad either! 

Akropolis is the best restaurant in Laganas because it  compines nice dishes, excellent surroundings and a great service.I saw someone here complaining about the mousaka there;well to tell you the truth only my mom makes a perfect mousaka and she's been cooking it the same way for the last 40 years or so!!!! I've been to Italy many times and I had the best pasta and pizza only at my friends' homes and not in reastaurants if you got my point.Still, u should try this dish also in order to have an idea of greek mousaka.Anyway.....most of the dishes in Akropolis are very nice .Try the wine of the house too.Spiros and Angela are the owners.Don't hesitate to ask them anything you want.They are great!!

wonderful food and great service best on the island

Im am headdin to zante next july with my mate but realy do know if its for me. I want a place full of nite life (cheap i'm a student!) with watersports and just some fun can anyone help me?

We held our daughters wedding reception here and it was wonderful. The food was amazing and the service was first class. Angela and Spiros could not have done anymore for us and we will be back next year with photos. If you go to Lagana you do not want to leave without having a meal here. See you next year.

At a fist glance the place looks nice but expensive. After looking over the menu the prices are the same as any other restaurant in laganas. The service was good and the food excellent. The only slight draw back was that it was a bit of a walk from the main strip, but well worth the visit-you won't be disappointed

First impressions were that it looked nice but expensive. The service was good, they gave you time to look at the menu. When the food came it was piping hot and very enjoyable. It is a fair walk from the main road but it is weel worth a trip up there.

akropolis is by far the best place to eat on the island, all staff are very friendly and accommodating and the food is great!!!

My wife and I decided to try this restaurant after reading glowing reports. I must admit that I was expecting so much more. We had a nice starter each and decided as we were in Greece to try the moussaka, priced about 6EURO. I've had moussaka before in Crete and it was an absolutely wonderful dish. I thought the prices were very good but the moussaka was very dry and had no meat in it (as far as I could see). The surroundings are very nice and the staff were pleasant enough.

I would say it's worth the 300 metre or so trek up the road as it's one of the better restaurants on the island but I can definitely say it isn't the best.

After reading all of these reviews, my girlfriend and I earmarked this place for a meal one evening. We worked out we ate in 14/15 different places during the course of the week and, without a shadow of a doubt, this was by far the finest. An elegant and peaceful setting, it was an enjoyable evening (not including the torrential rain). The food was very tasty (dips, shnitzel stuffed w/ cheese & ham) and if I went back to Zante (not in this lifetime), I'd eat here most nights. We had a 3 course meal with wine for about 35 euros (I think).

Akropolis. What can I say? If you are looking for a top quality meal this is the place to visit. Its a bit out of the way but there is something to suit all tastes. The grilled feta cheese starter is amazing!

We went for a meal at the acropolis, i wouldn't say it was anything spectacular just a normal restaurant like any other in Laganas, good range of meals, the potato skins are really nice and are like a mini meal in itself. Its good for families as we had a 21mth old to cater for, and the childrens menu was good and there is a play area aswell.

The Food was very poor, after odering the Zakythian Chicken i was ill with food poisoning for two weeks, i wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone, not even my dog.

I felt this year that the Akropolis was not quite so memorable as before.
Still one of the top five in Laganas but try Dallas for even better food and Ambelos for sheer quality. Ambelos - leave strip at Cozy Corner and turn right after 50m at Orange restaurant and Ambelos is on the left about 100m further round the road.

Absolutely the BEST place to eat on the whole island. Try the stuufed Aubagines and the feta and spinach pies, theyre gorgeous. Also the steak a la creme is to die for. Ive come back alot heavier than when i first arrived. Hi to Spiros and Angela

the akropolis is the best 'family' restaurant on the island, angela and spiros (the owners) have 2 kids sophie and daniel who befriend any kids who come into the restaurant, there is a kiddies play area out side - it is somewhere you can spend the evening and not worry about the children. You may even find my sister being roped into the odd game of uno with the resident children and their friends.

Apart from the family atmosphere the food and service is brillaint. hope you enjoy yourself.

really good place to eat out,friendly staff excellant service from when you walked in,throughout the meal and when you were leaving.i had checked out the comments on the web site before going on holiday no suprise to see it got 10/10.

we made a point of checking this restraunt out after looking at this site before we went to Zante, we had to walk for a while to find it but it was definately worth it, it has a marvelous setting, isn't too cramped like a lot of the restraunts there, it has a children's playground and the food was excellent, you don't have to pay any more than you would any where else either!!

Food out of this world, excellent menu, brilliant prices and a lovely relaxing atmosphere with fountains etc.
Ate here 4 times and were never disappointed.

A beautiful restaurant.
It maybe somewhat off-the-beaten-track, but this adds to it's ambience. This restaurant had one of the best menus on the island, and had me deliberating for ages over what to pick from it. The Mussels Saganaki and the Feta Flambe make great starters, and the Fresh Sea Bream I had was beautifully tasty with lots of meat on it's bones. The staff, without exception, were pleasant and very helpfull, especially in their suggestions for which wines to choose.
Without question this will be our first port of call when we return here.

Just come back from Zante[my 4th time in a year]and this resturant was recommended to me.It is a wonderful clean place and the food is superb.It is nice for either a group of people or as a nice romantic meal for two.Amy the waitress is a lovely helpful girl and Angela and Spiros[the owners ]are really nice people.The tzaziki is out of this world[the best I have ever tasted]and the Kleftiko is also pretty good.We ate there loads of times and although it is a tiny bit out of the way ,it is well worth the walk.

My boyfield and I have just returned from Laganas, we ventured up the hill to the Akropolis on a number of ocassions during our 2 weeks stay. Yes it was a bit further than the signs said but only 5 mins from the main high street near the cosy corner cross roads, up the hill past the Dallas restaurant also nice. We tried a few of the Greek dishes including the Kleftiko (superb), Hawian chicken, chicken Zanta all lovely. The Baileys Coffee's were a nice end to the Meal also.

Nice setting food very good but ignore the yardage signs from the main street nearer 600/700 yards

my baby sister has been working at the Akropolis since the start of the season, i went over a few weeks ago and was more than impressed by this beautiful, friendly family run restaurant. The food is indeed the best on the island and the setting is great taking you away from the busy main strip, i highly recommend at least one visit to Akropolis....oh and remember to be generous with the tips for Amy (the tall blond one who will give you your menu)

We ate here twice in our two week holiday and both times it was fantastic. Was quite far up a dark track but well worth the walk once you got there. Very reasonable and if go there between certain times you get a discount.

Just came back from Zakynthos this week. Ate at akropolis three times. Ever time the food was fa, abd the service great. Would highly reccomend this restaurant.

me and five of my friends were in laganas from 6th june for one week, staying at mon repos so akropolis was very handy as it was only over the road, but the food was out of this world and probably would have walked a long distance to eat there

Great location... and by far the best food in Laganas - and suprisingly for such a great place - the food was very cheap and the service was great! I would recommend this as the number one eating place in the resort....

Walking up the main road from the beach - after about 400yds, turn left and the Akropolis is about a further 600 yds on.
Well worth the walk.
(It is signposted at the end of the road so you can't miss it.)

I am going to Laganas with my boyfriend in August, and I would like to know how to get to the Akropolis restuarant. All the comments are good and sounds like a good place to eat!

I have just returned from Laganas with my boyfriend and must say the Akropolis was by far the best restaurant there. We visited it 3 times in the 2 weeks we were there.

The service was excellent as was the wine and the food and it was so reasonable priced. My recommendation is the Souvlaki Special on the Akropolis Special Menu.

Fab meal we had a sample of everything, it was one of the best Greek meals all week! Service was very good an dvery helpful - it was so pretty, There was even a wedding party there - that is how special it was!

I have just returned from Zante and must say that my holiday would not have been complete without the excellent Akropolis restaurant! As for 'the rat' Ian, I feel that this was a most unfortunate incident but how do you think the owners of the restaurant must have felt when an unsavoury bit of wildlife decided to take a look at the beautiful surroundings as well!!! I talked a lot to Spiros and Angela when I was there and can guarantee you that the land around the restaurant has been 'treated' so as not to allow anything wandering in from the neighbours olive groves!! What can I say, the food is fantastic, you won't find a better fillet steak on the island, the service is great and the setting is beautiful, you can relax away from the crowds and actually believe that you are on a greek island, thumbs up, keep up the good work guys!!!!

Tried over 20 restautants in Laganas and this was the tops for ambience as it is set in a cool woodland setting which seems a million miles away from the strip although in reality it is a mere 300 metres. Food and service was excellent, as was the price. 

Can anyone help? We are two friends gooing to laganas on 13th July for a week, both vegetarian, can anyone tell me what the range of veg food is like? neither of us eat fish!

My husband and I visit Laganas every 2nd year since this is where we had our honeymoon, and this restaurant is THE BEST IN TOWN by far! My hubby is a chef and is SO fussy - no matter where we go in the world, you are guaranteed he has a bad meal! NOT HERE! He loves the food at the Akropolis, and me too, especially the greek dishes. The staff are lovely, and this is our main restaurant when we stay in Laganas. CAN'T RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH TO YOU !!!

The best restaurant not only in Laganas but in whole Zante. Try the local red wine too!

Took a party of 20plus there after my daughters wedding, brilliant. Spiros played hard when negotiating but on the night he came up with the goods and some, more than pleased. Been back since and it was nice to be remembered and feel at home. Try it.

We loved it here. The food was amazing. The surrounding were by far the best in Laganas and the staff were so friendly. We ate there 3 times the first time we were there for two weeks, later that year when we went back for a week, we ate there twice. The staff remembered us the second time because we had be there so often earlier in the year. I would definitely reccommend it. Nothing average about the Akropolis.

Unfortunately only found this restaurant a few nights before we were due to leave, but spent every night here that we had left. Food was fantastic (especially the Garlic Mushrooms... Oi don't take my mushroom!!!), the service was excellent, and as for the people that said the service was slow.. well when your on holiday don't you go out to have a nice relaxing enjoyable meal, and not forgetting the fact that in Greece, life is at a much slower pace... they do not rush, which is how things should be!! The staff were excellent, the Scottish Guy the owners son, was great, along with virtually everyone else that worked there, they made you feel very welcome and catered for all your needs..... even when asking for JUST LIME to go with your amstel... would certainly recommend this to anyone staying in Zante, Lagannas, well worth the walk, and very reasonable for excellent food.

BY FAR THE CHEAPEST AND TASTIEST GREEK MEAL WE HAD DURING OUR TWO WEEKS IN LAGANAS. IF YOU SIT DOWN BETWEEN 6.30 AND 8.30PM YOU GET 10% OFF YOUR BILL! GOOD CHOICE FOR VEGGIES AND THE ZAKYNTHOS CHICKEN WAS TOP NOTCH!

The food is fantastic the surroundings are good too. (The scottish lad who works there is the son of the owner Spiros and the English speaking waitress is the sister of the onwers wife)visit for a peaceful night away from the hustle and bustle of laganas golden mile!!

We ate here 3 times in the 2 weeks we were there, lovely restaurant and great food. Staff very friendly and not far from the Panorama hotel which was a bonus for us.We had 2 course meals and drinks for under 20 euros, no wonder people were arriving in taxi loads. Well worth trying.

the best eating place in laganas the STAFF all knew what they had to do and the patter wasn't bad either (ARIGHT KEV)we ate here four times in the two weeks and each time it was perfect our hotel was only 300 yards away which was a bonus (not to far to crawl)try the stefado it was loveley would recomend it to anyone. well worth the walk from the main strip

The food here is brilliant, its a bit of a walk to get to but its well worth it.

Surroundings superb, but found food a bit oily, and chicken a bit tough. Waiters service was excellent and friendly. Not worth the long walk up as better restaurants on the beach.

Having visited this restaurant for the third time in two years, it has remained consistant in it's quality and friendliness as well as being reasonably priced for the surroundings, regardless of the walk from the main drag. Do not be put off by Erika White's comments on "the waiter's are Scottish or at least speak English". I thought we ALL spoke English in Britain. When we were there in May, we counted two Scottish waiter's who could speak English!!! Well worth a visit, try the HAGGIS!

You must visit this resturant, food excellent, service very good and setting excellent. Dont miss it !!!!!!!

This is one place you must not miss when in Laganas! The food is superb, the atmosphere good, the waiters are Scottish or at least speak English. The owner Spiros and his English wife Angela are welcoming and if you have children, there is a safe place for them to play whilst you are enjoying your meal. The setting is lovely and just far enough from Laganas to be able to enjoy a peaceful and romantic meal. Make sure you put the Akropolis on your "must do" list when you visit Zakynthos!

We went during September. The food was great and the surroundings very relaxing, away from the noise of the main road. A short walk off the main road but we thought well worth it. We tried the fried aubergines and both had a chicken dish...very good. Not massive portions so enough to sqeeze dessert in afterwards. We did't have to wait long for the meal either.

Best restaraunt on the island, food is awsome, but the best thing about the place is the waiters, especially the short welsh one. Its a must for all visitors

We made a list of the top places from this website before we left, The Akropolis had a score of 10/10. I can only say that I rated it 0/10. Service was very slow, food dry and served with no fresh veg. Price was the most expensive of the holiday. I can only assume that the owners are adding their own commemts to this site. NOT WORTH THE LONG WALK> Call in at The Dallas restuarant before the Akropolis, a much better place.

By far the best restaurant in Laganas - if you don't fancy a nice walk to get there there's always the taxi. Half English owned - most of the waiters are English, Scottish or Welsh so you don't end up with the wrong gear! Nice size portions - you don't end up so stuffed that you can't enjoy a beer or seven on the way home. RECOMMENDED.

Food is excellent as is the service!! Was recommended to us by a Greek taxi driver who says that it is the best restaurant in Laganas.
