Michael Taylor - Are you the Mike of Mike & Teresa fame??? The couple who got married in Zakynthos with Dino as their best man????
Where about in Argassi is the Beer Academy ???
Sorry "Overwhelmingly" - Too much Glayva already I think.
Anyone ever had any doubts as to who is number one in Argassi then it looks like the opinion is overwhelmingy the Family Inn. Dinos have a Glayva ready for me - I'll be there in two weeks time!
To Xander Harris,b there are far too many good bar and restaurants to mention. The "Beer Academy"is possibly one of the best bars in Argassi, as for restaurants if you go to a traditional Greek taverna you will never be disappointed.
To John Bruce, sorry but you have earlier been mis-informed. There are free standing fans available for rent from the Hotel reception, just ask and they will provide you with one.
CHRIS AND TANIA, WITH REGARDS TO HIRING A FRIDGE THE ANSWERS NO, HOWEVER THE STAFF VERY KINDLY OFFERED TO PLACE MY SONS MILK IN THEOR FRIDE, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL, SEE DINO ON THE BAR, I'M SURE HE SORT YOU OUT
JOHN, I STAYED IN THE HOTEL ROOMS AND THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING. YOU CANNOT HIRE FANS FROM THE HOTEL BUT QUITE OFTEN NOW THE TOUR OPERATORS OFFER DIFFERENT ITEMS TO HIRE, MAY BE WORTH GETTING YOUR TRAVEL AGENT TO CHECK WITH THE TOUR OPERATORS RESORT OFFICE.
TO SUE JONES, I STAYED THERE IN MAY AND TOOK MY 2 YEAR OLD SON. THERE ARE NO HIGHCHAIRS BUT THE STAFF KINDLY LET ME BORROW A CUSHION FROM THE LOUNGE AREA TO PUT ON THE CHAIR TO MAKE MY SON HIGHER UP AT THE TABLE. THE BREAKFAST CONSISTS OF CEREAL, CORNFLAKES AND CHOCI ONES, AND BREAD ROLL WITH HAM CHEESE AND JAM, TEA OR COFFEE. THE POOL BAR ALSO SERVES UP ALL BREAKFAST ITEMS ALL DAY LONG AND BELIEVE ME THE FOOD TAKES SOME BEATING! WE HAD AN EXCELLENT STAY HERE, VERY FRIENDLY, VERY CLEAN AND ALTHOUGH NO CHILDRENS PLAY FACILITIES MY SON AND THE OTHER CHILDREN KEPT THEMSELVES ENTERTAINED ALL DAY EITHER ROUND THE LOVELY POOL AREA OR AT NIGHT IN THE LARGE LOUNGE BAR. I WILL DEFINATELY BE BACK AGAIN!!
We are going to the Family Inn Hotel on July 11th does anyone who has been before know if there are fans/AC available to hire locally?
I have been staying at 'The Family Inn' for approx 10 years now, and always return at least once a year for a two week holiday. My mum was married there, and has been returning for about 13 years for at least two, two week holidays a year. The atmosphere is fantastic , it is clean, and in a quite location, although the town is not too far away, nor are the beaches. Dino's bar, on site, offers an excellent range of cocktails, and Megi's pool side bar offers great food at prices which will not break the bank. Having just returned last week from another two week holiday at 'The Family Inn' I can honestly say that nothing has changed and it is still as fantastic as it has always been, in fact I am already planning my return. A big thumbs up !!!
Me and my husband spent our honeymoon here and were absolutely delighted. We were originally allocated a room on the first floor overlooking the pool which was lovely but I am a wheelchair user so we asked to change rooms as there is no lift. They couldn't have been more helpful although the room we were given was not so nice as the first one and it overlooked the road which was a little bit noisy. Totally spotless though. They welcomed you into their family and make your holiday truly one to remember. We shall most certainly be returning to the Family Inn.
The "Family Inn Hotel" is one of, if not the best on the island, with approx 50 rooms the family are able to look after your every need. Goergia and Peter look after the hotel reception, their son Dino looks after the bar and their daughter Megi looks after the snack bar. This is a truly family run hotel, if they haven't got it (or can not get it) then you do not need it to enjoy your holiday. The hotel is 100m from the beach and has excellent access to tour the island if you wish. I have been with my wife and returned with my grandchildren, this alone shows what a good all round hotel the Family Inn is. Yammas!!
This has got to be the best place to stay on the island Dino and Spyros do a good job in the bar, the fod at the pool side snack bar is very good, the pool is one of the best i have seen on holiday
Darren, The location is excellent - one of the previous comments about some late night traffic noise is fair comment. However to put this into perspective, there are no bars or karaoke nearby causing noise pollution. Similarly, I once stayed at accomodation at the other end of Argassi (near the Chryssi Akti) and to be honest, there was serious traffic noise there. I have noticed that although people often add favourable comments, their "score-card" doesn't appear to match. It may be that there is a default on this system to average? Anyhow, I will be in the Family Inn from July 9th so look out for me. (One of the few Scots in the bar.)
We will be going to the Family Inn on July 11th, we've noticed that most comments are average for the location - can anyone explain why?
The standard breakfast is a local breakfast, however you can buy an "English" breakfast at the pool-bar. I am not aware of any high-chairs, but the hotel owners are very nice people and I'm sure they will sort something out for you.
We will be staying at the Family Inn in July on Bed & Breakfast basis. I was wondering if anyone knows if we get a choice of breakfast or will it just be a greek breakfast. Do they have high chairs as we are bringing our baby son?
Thanks for that David, worrying about nothing then. did you stay at the Family Inn how was your stay?
i am worried about the weather, does anybody know what the weather is like at the moment? i am going early June and hoping that it is going to be hot.? but things are looking grim at the moment.
The Family Inn Hotel is an excellent choice for those who want a friendly, clean and easily accessible stay in Argassi. The pool is probably one of the best - sunbeds are free and the snack bar is very reasonable. But "Dino's Place" Bar has to be the highlight. Dino makes the very best cocktails ever and will always take time out to talk to everyone, even when its busy. Dino's Place made our holiday really memorable and we will definitely plan a return trip in the future. Excellent.
Chris - No fridges for hire, but the hotel bar is open all day and into the late night, and mini markets are very nearby.
we are coming to the family inn on july 18th and wondered if we would be able to hire a fridge.
Joanne, i was wondering about the hotel rooms having fridges the travel; agent told me that you can actually buy frozen water to defrost over night etc.... please let me know what the rooms were like when you get back as i am staying there in June. Thanks Tania
Joanne - Don't worry! The main part of Argassi is all flat, and the Family Inn is also on the flat about 15 mins walk to the centre. Nice hotel, quiet location, with a restaurant next door if you dont want to walk at all!
As well as taking my child I'm treating my grandmother to a holiday staying here, I forgot to ask when booking, but does anyone know if the hotel is on a hill and if the main part of the resort is hilly. I hope not or I think I'm in trouble!!
As far as I know the rooms don't have fridges, however there are apartments overlooking the pool & I'm sure they have. If your bed & breakfast then chances are there's no fridge. There are two small shops nearby which are open until about midnight from which you can buy chilled soft drinks etc. I'm not sure if that's much help to you. I have no doubt that you will have a lovely holiday staying at the Family Inn.
I AM GOING TO GREECE FOR THE 1ST TIME AND STAYING AT THE FAMILY INN IN MAY FOR A WEEK. I AM TAKING MY YOUNG CHILD AND WONDERED IF ANYONE KNOWS IF THERE ARE ANY FRIDGES AVAILABLE FOR USE IN THE HOTEL ROOMS.
The rooms are pretty much like most hotel rooms in Greece in that they are basic, however they are spacious and clean. If you have a choice I suggest you ask for rooms overlooking the pool as they are more modern.
What Are the actual rooms like?
This has got be the best Hotel in the whole of Zakynthos. It is owned by Georgia & Panayotis Ambelas who are a lovely couple with a terrific "family". The hotel bar is run by Dinos and yes he has become legendary for managing to run what's reputably the busiest Hotel bar on the island and still managing to give each and every customer individual attention. Dinos' beautiful sister Megi runs the pool bar during the day. Once you have been there you will return year after year. Don't take my word for it - pop in some night and see for yourself.
Prices depend on what time of the year you go. You will have to book through a Travel Brochure, as the Family Inn's rooms are bought out, you cannot just ring and book that way. I think when we booked we went with Airtours. Hope this is of some help.
Prices please.
We have been to the family inn several times, it's true Dino remembers everyone! If you've got kids it's definately the place to stay.
We found the Family Inn, a very clean and Friendly Family Run Hotel. It is on the outskirts of Argassi, but will only take you a 5 minute walk into the centre, but you pass lots of lovely Restaurants on the way. Once you have stayed at the Hotel, if you ever go back you will not be forgotton (especially by Dino who runs the bar) Highly recommended.
