This complex is on the edge of Laganas on the road to Kalamaki, about 15-20 mins walk to the centre. It is set among the pine trees and runs down to Laganas beach itself. It has recently been acquired by the 'Louis 'hotels group and so should be refurbished and staffed to a high standard for this year.
Pat - In May, Tsilivi will not be very lively at all. Raziz is about 10-15 mins walk to the beach, but there are pools within 100 yds of the apartments. Many good restaurants in Tsilivi, shop around!
Carl - any travel agent should be able to find the tour company. Try Unijet, as they are part of First Choice now.
Chris - No fridges for hire, but the hotel bar is open all day and into the late night, and mini markets are very nearby.
Dave- vegetarian options are very limited all over Zakynthos!! Sorry!
J T - you can get some road noise, but it is not a busy road, especially late at night. If this hotel is still with Thomson Freestyle, then yes it is a party atmosphere most nights!
Jamws G. - Good to hear from you, thanks for the compliments. Thomson situation is difficult at moment, but i will post the result here asap. Basically they had a big jeep safari accident on Lanzarote last year and still haven't decided if they will use any jeep safari type tour worldwide ever again!!! If not, Flocas Travel on Lagana high street can book you on us. Or call me on 0977 967731 when you get to resort.
Russ - Laganas is not hilly at all, and Oscar Hotel is on the main road, about 30 mins walk to the centre!
Sam - not sure about this. Definately accepts all cards with a Visa or Mastercard symbol. I'll be in resort from Sunday 20th May, so i'll let you know then if no one else has posted.
Jackie - Yes to all your questions. All you can eat for 3000 drx (last summer), and great for kids.
Marky - This one is good (Zante Park). Zante Royal Palace / Palazzo di Zante in Vasillikos. Bitzaro Palace, Klelia, Garden Village Apts, Roseland, all in Kalamaki. Good Luck.
Laurie - Bus to Athens takes 6 hours in total and stops only in Patras, a motorway service station, and the Athens Bus Garage. It is 4 hours bus, 1-1.1/2 hours ferry, 10/15 mins in Patras, and 30 mins at service station.
Sam - Machines will take Visa, Mastercard, Plus, Cirrus, Dias and some others. This is from the machine in Laganas. Will see if there are any different ones in town.
Ginger - Standard hotel (basic but comfortable) in a quiet area, but only about 5 - 10 mins to resort centre and all bars / clubs etc. Lagana main road / centre has many to choose from, with Rescues and Zeros being the most popular.
Elaine - No laundry in Argasi, the closest is in Zante town about 10 mins drive away (or Taxi), but you would have to ask your rep where abouts in town to go.
Leah - St. Niks beach is about 45 minutes drive away from Laganas, down the Vasilikos' peninsula in the south-east. There is a free bus every day that leaves Laganas at 10.00 am and returns in the late afternoon. It is worth the trip, but can get very busy. It does, however, have the best selection of watersports on the island.
Andy - Usually mid 30s in the shade, so a lot hotter in the sun. no problem as long as you use a high factor cream and drink plenty of water.
Dom - Nightlife in Kalamaki is very quiet with only a few bars / clubs. Your better of going in to Laganas (5 mins by taxi), which is very lively. There will be plenty of Taxis to bring you back at any time of night. Kalamaki has a great beach, but being a quiet resort the 'lovely' count may be a bit lower thwn say Laganas!
Dom - Also no watersports in Kalamaki or Lagana due to the Protection of the Turtles which nest on the beach at night. If your looking for a lively, clubbing holiday, then you may have got the wrong resort! Laganas is much more suited for this.
Linda- With an 'allocated on arrival' holiday, you get what is left in the resort. This could be good or bad depending on what rooms have not been filled elswhere. Basically, it's pot luck as to what you end up with. If you have any specific requirements then you should book from a brochure.
Steven - Good hotel , good location and great resort if your looking for a lively time by night and lazy days to follow!!!
Standard rooms - basic but comfortable, average size. Sorry i can't be more specific.
Should be complete very shortly (next few days), but until them JMC are putting guests into another hotel (Hotel Petros) next to the Park Hotel in the south of the resort. Petros hotel is very nice though, probably better than the Tsilivi Beach hotel!
Jenni - Pool area is very nice and situated in front of the hotel, overlooking the main road. Plenty of sunbeds etc., and pool bar.
Jenny - 20 mins to the beach, and 15 mins to the centre. Basic but comfortable hotel, with nice pool area in front.
Gill - Studios are just outside the middle of the resort about 200 metres up the road from the 'Red Lion' pub. Next to the church, and opposite the road down to the beach which passes the 'Glaros' restaurant and 'Tsilivi Beach Hotel'.
Terry - there are many different travel agents in Tsilivi (and all resorts) selling all types of tours. All tours will pick up from convenient places in Tsilivi, shop around for price, but beware of the quality as the price goes down. Best way to see the island in one day is on 'Zakfari' jeep safari.
No building work close by, and it is as quiet as the brochure says. Can't vouch for kids, screaming or otherwise, depends on bookings.
Sharon - There are supermarkets that sell nappies and baby food in resort. I would bring enough for the first few days and then buy the rest locally. Your rep should be able to tell you where the supermarkets you need are located.
Jason - Zakfari is selling for 16000 drx, and we do stop for lunch and water on the way. Look out for us when you get here, or call us on 29680.
Nicky - As i run Zakfari, i won't give it away. We have different endings depending on the weather! But if it was at a swim stop then it could be the smell!!!! That's all i'll say!!
Nicky - Thanks, i'll see you soon. Vicky - I couldn't give away a good ending! The whole day is a full island tour in open top Land Rovers. Spectacular views, swim stops, etc., by far the best way to see the island in a day!!!!
Paola - you will find that the rooms at these apartments are only available through British tour companies. You will have to ask a travel agent in the UK to find out how to book and at what price.
Mike - Oscar hotel is at the far end of Laganas main road, about 30 - 40 mins walk to the saloon bar, or 5 mins in a cab.
Charlie - as far as i know, no one runs a trip to Athens by plane. Youcan book your tickets with OlymoicAirways from various agencies around the island, but once in Athens, it is up to you although some agencies may also be able to book accommodation for you there.
To Everyone - Tsilivi Beach Hotel has finished al building work and is now open. Have a great time!
Anne - Cash point on Laganas main road, but none in Kalamaki.
Jackie - Bed linen is provided at this hotel.
Very nice complex, but you will need a car if you want to go anywhere else as it is a liitle far out of Tsilivi. Don't know about food, but it is a multinational hotel so you will be sharing with Germans, Italians etc.
John - airport noise is not a big problem. No flights between 10pm and 5am because of turtles nesting on nearby beaches. Not that many flights per day anyway, and you are not underneath the flightpath.
Yeah, thanks James! Smell is as good as ever! Update on prvious info. Tour now available through First Choice, Unijet, Cosmos, Argo, Direct Holidays, Apollo, and hopefully very soon JMC! Thomson still haven't come to a decision, so we have offered there days to JMC. If you are here with Priceright (Libra), Olympic, or Golden Sun then you can book us by request (ie ask rep for 'Zakfari', not other Jeep Safari). Anyone else can book through Tsilivi Travel (Tsilivi), Flocas Travel (Alikes,Tsilivi) and Kappa Corfu (Lagana). Mail me at info@zakfari.com for anything else. Thanks
James - Yep, you can still call the phone numbers for advice, but we cant yet take direct bookings!
Martin - Solomos Square in Zakynthos Town.
S Sillaw - Hello, we set a minimum age limit of 4 yrs old for safety reasons. Thomson may well have made up their minds by then, but who knows! Let me know where you are staying (hotel / resort) and i will let you know the best way to book. Mail me on info@zakfari.com
Debbie - You may be able to book trough JMC by then, but just in case, e-mail me at the address a few posts below and let me know where you are staying (hotel / resort), and i will let you know the easiest way to book!
James - Thanks for the offer! It is on list of things to do, but keeps getting put back behind vehicle servicing, tour company meeting etc. Will make a concerted effort to sort it out this week. Will let you know if i need any help!!
Lisa - Which tour company are you coming here with? You may be able to book through them.
Janet - I have sent a reply to your e-mail address. Hope it is what you were looking for!
Janet - There are no other legal safaris on the island, and your rep will only sell you 'Zakfari'. If you have any problems, then one of our agents is about 100 metres down the road from the hotel. If you are offered anything else, then it is not 'Zakfari' and will be in a closed vehicle withour air conditioning!
Ray - They accept debit cards as long as they are backed by Visa, Mastercard, Cirrus, Plus+ etc. If you use it as a cashpoint card at home, then you should be able to use it here, unless it is a 'switch' card.
Alan - Rat problem is from 10 years ago, and all pools are open to the public. Have a great time!
I live on Zakynthos, and this is the latest as far as i know. The hotel will be closed throughout July whilst being inspected and cleaned ny health officials. Reports of Legionnaires Disease are as yet unconfirmed, but there is/was some type of virus in the hotel. If you have booked this hotel with JMC or Airtours or another company, then they are legally bound to keep you informed of the situation. They should offer you a refund of all money, or a transfer to another hotel of the same or higher standard, free of charge, and should offer compensation if you have to change resort, or move to a hotel with less facilities (eg. no pool). As usual in these cases, a lot of what we hear is just rumours, but your tour company should know more details than anyone else. Hope this helps.
James G and Girlfriend - We do 9 or 10 stops all together, and only 1 of them at the moment is a swim stop (maybe 2 in very hot weather)! So there is plenty to do otherwise. Sharon - Zakfari is great for kids of their ages. You can book through First Choice at the hotel, and we will pick you up from there. Price in July is 17500 drx per adult, and half price for kids 12 and under.
Natalie - Zante Park Hotel is probably the best in Laganas, and is far superior to the Victoria. It is less than 5 mins to the beach, and about 15 mins walk to the centre, but plenty to do in the local area. Hotel has good pool and entertainment, and is part of the 'Best Western' group so good quality is guaranteed!!
All - Generally the first 2 weeks in October are warm in the day and cool at night. Most places are still open and doing business, but can be quiet. Last 2 weeks can have rain storms (bring a brolly) and can get very cold at night (jumper or jacket). Many businesses will close in the last 2 weeks, so don't expect all resort facilities to be open (eg watersports). Hope this helps!
Mark - Laganas in August will be very lively in the centre and some people may find the behaviour offensive. Laganas is quite a large resort though, and there is plenty to do/see without going into the resort centre.
Vicky- Not sure about breakfasts, but greek hotel breakfasts are pretty basic at the best of times! The resort centre is about 15 mins walk away, but there are plenty of bars / clubs / restaurants on the way. Some good restaurants close by aswell. Beach is also about 15 mins walk away, but also plenty of pools in between and at the Ikaros.
Leanne - No problem with aircraft noise, as airport is at the other end of Kalamaki. It is about 5 - 10 min walk to the beach.
Are we supposed to live on Mousaka for 2 weeks instead. It's good to have a choice of restaurants!
Jackie - I'm very sorry to hear about this problem with booking through Olympic Holidays, and wish there was something i could do to rectify the situation! However, maybe because of this situation, and the number of complaints they have been getting, Olympic, Priceright, and Golden Sun have all dropped this other safari company and are now booking only 'Zakfari'. Great news for us, and also for everyone else who wishes to book us! Those of you travelling with Airtours and Kosmar who book a safari, beware, as you will be in these same 'sardine tins'. You may like to ask for proof of licence and insurance from that company before you travel, it should cause a few raised eyebrows!!! Jackie, could you please mail me at info@zakfari.com as i want to talk to you about what happened, and what to do next year? Thanks
Insect repellant is available in resort and in the UK, the stronger the better! No gym in Tsilivi, but maybe in some hotels, check with your rep in resort!
Chez - End of season is not till 30th October! All things will still be busy during your 2 weeks, with the bonus that all the kids will have gone back to school!! Hurrah!!!
James G. - Still no good news from Thomson. If you are staying at the Laganas Hotel, then there is an office just 50 metres away down that road called 'Kappa Corfu' run by an English girl called Carolyn. Good luck, and see you soon!!!
Dear All - I just want to update you on the latest developements in the booking of Zakfari. We are now available through First Choice, Unijet, Cosmos, Direct Holidays, Argo, Solos, Apollo, Golden Sun, various dutch companies, and now JMC!! We are also available on request through Priceright and Olympic. There shold be no further problems booking through these last two companies, as the proverbial really hit the fan after the situation mentioned a few entries below! If you are not on holiday with any of the above companies, then you can book through our local agents as follows: Alikes/Alykanas - Flocas Travel (83136)- Teta Tsilivi - Flocas Travel (22528)-Andreas or Tsilivi Travel (44194)- Frances Argasi/Kalamaki/Laganas - Kappa Corfu (53461)- Carolyn If you have any trouble finding us when you are here then call us on 29680 anytime! Also, as mentioned below, if you are offered any other 'jeep safari' tour, then request to see their licence, MOT, insurance etc., they should all be carried on the vehicles used!!! Thanks for all the comments so far
Dear all again - the local agents are a little difficult to read, so here they are again, Alikes/Alykanas - Flocas Travel (83136 - Teta) Tsilivi - Flocas Travel (22528 - Andreas) or Tsilivi Travel (44194 - Frances) Argasi / Kalamaki / Laganas - Kappa Corfu Travel (53461 - Carolyn) Thanks, and see you soon
Ray - Boat trip is a long day on the boat, a lot of cliffs, and subject to weather / sea conditions which are very variable all year round. Coach trip has 5 stops (church / shopping / monastery / wine tasting etc.) and is quite 'cultural'. Best way to see island in a day is with Zakfari!
If you want prices, you have to look in the Airtours brochure, as it is exclusive to them!
Captain - You can not book directly with Kosmar, but will be able to book us through the Lagana agent (Kappa Corfu). I'm not sure where your apartments are, but you can contact Carolyn at Kappa Corfu on 53461 for details and booking. Beware though, as Kosmar may offer you the 'sardine tin' safari mentioned below, this is not air conditioned and the temperature here this week has been in the 40's in the shade!!!
Dawn - It depends on which tour company you are here with. If you are at the Ilios, then i guess you will be with First Choice which means you can book direct through your rep! Price this year is 17000 drx per adult and half price for children 12 and under, but for next year we do not know yet! We also have a local agent close by, so if there are any problems you can book with them at the same price. Children are more than welcome, only babies aged 2 and under can not be taken. See you next year!!!
Kevin - What can i say? We are an open top 4x4 'safari style' tour off the island. We cover the whole island in a day, with 8 or 9 stops off the vehicles. I dont want to give the game away, but you can see from the comments below where we go during the day! We look forward to seeing you when you get out here!
Sue - As you are staying at the Golden Bay, i assume you are travelling with First Choice or Unijet. Either way, contact the First Choice rep at the hotel and they can arrange the booking for you. Price is 17000 drx per adult and half price for children under 12.. Golden Bay is a nice hotel, in a quiet area, and has plenty of entertainment for the kids in the hotel. There are plenty of good beaches in the area, including the best watersports beach on the island (St. Nikolas). The only drawback is that there is not a lot to do outside the hotel, as it is a very quiet area, and you need transport to get to the nearest proper resort. See you soon
Jo - We are still running in October, usually until about the 22nd depending upon the weather. To be sure of getting on, book for your first week here. Please note that we will probably not be swimming at this time, as it will be too cold!
Ken - We can only apologise for what happened to you on this day. We were full on this day and had refused the booking as we had no seats available on any of the days requested. The agent had issued you a ticket, despite knowing there were no seats available, hoping that places would become available on the day! We are sorry you had to wait so long to find out that you couldn't go, and you can be assured that strong words have been had with this agent, who is now faxing all enquiries / reservations to us so there will be no future mix ups!!! The major tour companies (JMC, First Choice, Cosmos, Apollo etc.) have contracted most of the seats on each day and there are only limited seats available on certain days. We will never have enough seats in high season to fulfill the demand, and are therefore in the hands of local agents / reps to inform guests of the situation. Each extra booking is put on a 'waiting list', and should spaces become available, they are then contacted. Once again, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this agent, and if you ever come again to Zakynthos, or Corfu, please contact us directly on info@zakfari.com and we will make special arrangements for you, should you want to go on the tour.
Andrew - Sent you info direct ot your e-mail address. No booking online as yet, and price in October will be about 17000 drx per adult and 1/2 price for kids. Theocharis Stds in Tsilivi are in the centre behind the 'Joker' bar, and have good access to the resort and is about 5-10 mins walk to the beach. Nearest pool is 100 yds away, and studios are old, basic, but comfortable!
Higz - We will be operating until around about the 20th of October and will still cost about 17000 drx per person, half price for kids! see you then!!
Olly - Where are you staying, which tour operator, and how long are you here? Paul - No plans for this year, but possibly for next year! Guests can always contact us, or one of our agents listed below!!
Olly - You will be able to book through your Unijet/first Choice rep in resort. If you have any problems, then contact us on 29680 in Zakynthos.
Will let you all know about next year when the decision is made!!! See you soon!!!
Dear all, this hotel is back to normal, and has been for some time. As stated below, it was never closed and no cases of Legionella found. Guests were removed as a precautionary measure by some tour operators. Better safe than sorry!!
Tracey - no websites for these places. Very few of the businesses on Zakynthos have websites, or even use the internet!!!
Only vets are in Zakynthos town, your rep or hotel should be able to get contact numbers for you!
Pauline - Have e-mailed you direct with reply, but we will probably not be swimming at that time of year, as you said. At the moment the weather is great so we are still swimming!!
Helen - Which tour company are you with and where are you staying? You may be able to book through your tour company rep in resort. If not, then via Flocas Travel in Tsilivi, they are in the centre of resort next to the 'Reportage' bar. The tour is great for a 5 year old! See you soon!!
Robert - Unfortuneately, this trip is NOT Zakfari, but the 'sardine tin' imitation mentioned below. You may well have had a good day, but it may interest you to know that the owner of the 'Exotica Bar' has been fined twice by the police for running an illegal tour, and has two cases pending with the district attorney for the same offence. It is also illegal to sell tours from a bar, you can only book through a travel agent, or one of their representatives. Airtours will be quite interested to know he is undercutting them!!! As i said below, beware of imitations, check for an EU licence (Cyprus is non-EU), and vehicles registered in an EU country. Also ask why they do not display Operators Licence discs, and/or Road Fund / Circulation Tax discs or equivalent!!!
