loved the commodore, from the outside i would say it looks the tidest hotel in argassi. it is situated on a hill so it can be a little tricky getting up it after a few drinks, and watch out for those steps if your wearing heels!! we stayed in room 1019 which was on top floor right at the end next to fire exit. lovly room, the whole top floor had been refurbished so we had marble tiles in our room, double glazed french doors leading onto the balcony, airconditioning!! the kitchen facilities was a lot better than id expected to, it had an oven, kettle, toaster,fridge-freezer, hobs for boiling, draining board and plenty of coubord space. excellent viwes from most parts of the hotel, if your not overlooking the pool you'll overlook the sea.
there are quite a number of kittens that live at the hotel, so not so great if your allergic!! their lovly though, extreamly timid!!
they put out a contenental buffet style breakfast at yhe hotel for those of you going half bard, if you are going self catering, you can pay the night before to have breakfast. id reccomend the green frog for breakfasts though!! lovley!!

Got back on Monday much to our dismay!Had a fab holiday even though its end of season and quiet! The commodore was a lovely place, we had no complaints whatsoever, everything was spot on!
Although the beach wasnt the best, it did the job.We didn't get to go to st nicholas beach but lots of people recomended it.
As for the bars and clubs, I loved the magic mushroom(who doesnt?!?),the kiss bar, avalon(castle) and the jungle. We weren't overly keen on the factory club at all, though and left before 1am both times we went!
Overall a great holiday and we would recomend it to everyone.
p.s-watch out fot the 24/7 guy!!!!!

Sarah

Has anyone got any pictures of the commodore hotel that they could email me so I can see what the hotel looks like please?!!!

Michael W

The commodore is a nice hotel the swimming pool is clean and a reasonable size. The bar staff are good aswell. If your going with children you have donna who runs the kids club at the admiral along with water polo and pool competitions.Overall the commodore gets a thumbs up from me the only thing that lets it down is the location up a steep hill which alot of people found a struggle. If youre a football fan try beer academy just down the road it shows every game and has two pool tables. The factory and the Magic Mushroom are the best club/bars in argassi. If youre young its ideal and if argassi isnt enough its only 12 euro in a cab to laganas which is brilliant. However if youre a family try the tropicana restaraunt bar cinema and childrens play area all rolled into one the food is good and the admiral is only next door if you fancy karaoke.I went with my girlfreinds family their where ten of us the youngest two and the oldest fifty seven and their was something for everyone we all loved it.

Gaz C

This Is Matt, the rep for the commodore, signing out for the season. The commodore is a nice hotel , very family orientated, but everyone who was there while i was there reps had a good time, cos im a people person!!!

Faye

I really enjoyed my holiday in argassi, i went on the 12th August for 2 weeks. I found the nightlife very good the best places to go are the magic mushroom (but watch out for Ronni he likes the women),factory, avalon and kiss bar these are the places which play good music and are usually very lively and packed.
I would'nt recommend Argassi for couples with young children as it is quiet lively out there and not much for them to do, but it is deffiantly a good holiday if you between the ages of 16-30.
The beaches are not that good in argassi but you can catch a bus to St.Nicholas beach which takes bout 25 minutes and worth the while as there is alot of watersports there to enjoy.
Hope you enjoy your holiday!!!!!!

My girlfriend and I found that the Commodore was very "hit and miss". We got together with another 2 couples and all of our rooms were of a different standard. Ours was average but not the best. If your thinking of going half board, don't. The self catering rooms our much better. Our friends didn't even get a fridge as they were half board. Then again, if you sample more than half a dozen of Codeys cocktails you won't have a care in the world. He's a "bad man" but a star really. The more mature women should watch out for Yanis the night porter. You'll know what I mean when you get there. He seems to have magical powers of seduction. All in all a great holiday!!

Arrived 24.703, having stayed in zante before at (Dora aprtments)but couldnt get in this year.
stayed in Commodore for half hour, dirty bloodstained wet towels, pillows so yellow with old sweat, plaster from wall on floor, cooking faciities were nil, just a dirty sandwichmaker and 2 ring camping stove. Allocated room 904 , have a look 15 feet from the terrace, you will see a rubbish tip!!. We booked a "Superior Delux", a studio for 4 people, well we could not walk past each other at the end of the beds, and only a 13 inch gap between the beds.
If you get chance,(if you have the guts to stay there), look at the pool, my advice, take some antibiotics!!!!!

Yvonne W

Me and fella off to commodore back end of sept. Was wondering what it was gonna be like there but my minds at ease now plus have a bit of an idea of what to expect!
One question tho, sure its a daft one but want to make sure...Are there hole in walls that accept switch cards nearby???
-----xXx-----

Keiran M

No air condition - you need a fan. My tip is to buy one as it is cheaper than renting. You can then sell it on to new arrivals on your last day.

If you are taller than 6ft your feet will hit the wooden rail at the end of the beds - need to a have plenty of beers before you go to bed.

Don't go for your siesta at 6 as the Admiral next door belts out a George Michael CD at that time most days.

Be up B4 9 to get a sunbed by the pools.

Helen

Hi there, just read your comments on zante and were wondering if you had any information which would be of help to us..
we are both in our late 40`s...aarrrgghhh!..and torn with where to stay!

We are a happy fun loving couple..into karaoke...but not as a lifestyle!..we appreciate nightlife..but want a bit of peace with it!...we`ll hire a car after a few days so access to the more `quiet` spots is no probs!....like we say...ANY thoughts would ba appreciated...especially as you`ve JUST come back!...
thanks in anticipation....
ps. if you do reply....make it soon as we`re about to book...disaster if we conflict after booking!!!!

thanks again...

Heia!Commodore was basic but nice!My advice is rent a fan as it gets boiling in the night's!Staff were lovely, especially Adi and Cheeky Cheeky man!Iogo Jogo says hello!Pool was nice but be out early to get a sunbed, drinks were a bit espensive..my advice is go to the supermarket and stock up before a night out!The red lion is lush for food and very cheap!Breakfast is basic but great full breakfast in Apollo next door to the red lion!Great holiday,Lagunas is the place for clubbing though!

Amy B

Jacqui B

I loved it here.
I really enjoyed the fact that when you stayed at commodore, admiral or captains hotels you could access any three!
The hotel had a great reception with really friendly staff but the only problems were that the showers were usually cold and you needed a fan to stop from overheating.
But other than that I would strongly reccomend it!

Charlotte H

hiya id just like to say i havent stayed in the commodore apartments i stayed in the admiral down the road but you are alloud to use the facilities! i think that it is a lovely place to stay and if you stay in the admiral and you see the entertainers (michale, donna) tell them that charlotte and zoe is home now and thanx 4 every thing. if you like clubbing then got 2 the factory down the road its a wicked place to go or if you fabcy just a nice fish meal go to the 3 brothers they go fisheing every night so you know its fresh thats down the road and take a left!! please use thins advise i no what im on about!!

Martyn P

I have been going to Zante for years and have stayed at the Commodore,Admirals and Admirals Tsilivi all of which have been FANTASTIC. Staff have always been very helpful and inventive. Nice to see Gert & Eddie have done so well for themselves. Entertainment staff have always been good. does anyone remember Kenny? The guy who used to do the quiz nights in the Commodore in the mid 90's Especially his Spot Quiz. What a memory he had and we always and his alchy pal the barman Mike always pissed but a good laugh. Wont be out to Zante this year but we will be back. Love and best wishes to all.

We've booked to stay in the Commodore for two weeks at the end of may 2003 - could some one please tell me what facilities are available in the Studios ( e.g. cooking facilities etc) is there kettles provided, and also where are the best places to eat and drink - we're a young couple looking for lots of booze and a laff.

Thanks

Lynne C

stayed here july 2001 it was excellent spotlessly clean with pleasent staff the last part of the hill and the steps are a bit hard but worth it the rooms are big enough for what you need with fantastic views we are coming again in july for the third time argassi is so lovely made the mistake of going to spain last year hope everyone enjoys it as much as we have the people are so friendly here

Clair R

it was a nice clean place to stay, with great staff id recommend to go their. its clean and give good advice, their was only me and my friend n we loved it.

Deborah M

we stayed in the commodore for two weeks in july, the rooms are very clean but atouch basic, the staff where very helpful .we will be heading back next july again .we,d give the commodore thumbs up .

Jamie N

i did not stay in this hotel but on my last night i came to there pool to go for a swim at about 2 and sum man that worked there throw a glass ash tray at my head as i ran away from him but i was pissed so it didnt really hert.il b back next year for another swim mr ash tray man.

Eve W

We stayed at the commodore for 2 weeks and it was great! cody the bar tender was mint so "thanks for the free drinks!"-Get the smirnoff and tequila ready for next year!we meet some top people there, and had a good laugh.the hill was hard to get up at the night especially if your drunk!Weather was nice and very hot! We'd definately go back again!!!only downer was the cleaners did not understand english and woke you up at 10am.

Lesley M

Hotel is basic but comfortable and clean, only snag was the climb up the hill. At the end of the evening it seems steeper! The view from neighbouring Captains pool area is wonderful. We did have some noisy guests coming in late but that was only occassional (apart from the extremly load snorer in the next room whose output could be measure on the Richter scale!)

Steve W

Nice quiet basic accomodation but the hill did for my wife some nights. Only complaint was that I would have liked to had regular showers with hot water. Unfortunately we only had hot water for three nights. Apparently the hot ran out about six o'clock.

Vicky P

Stayed at the Commodore for 2 weeks. Room basic but cleaned every day. Watch out for the fan hire - it's not always '3' days as expected. If you get it late at night, that's counted as one day and it's taken back earlier than you think. Managment very poor at customer relations but barman was great. Just watch out if you're a single woman - he has the same chat up lines for all!! All in all - an ok place to stay if you're not looking for anywhere too fancy!

Richard D

Commodore may not have been ready for 8 lively lads from Hertford, made clear by the attitude of the staff towards us. On entering our room (505)we were nasally assaulted by a barrage of unfortunate smells from the already broken toilet. Having also opted to go without a fan (air con did not work) for the week, sleeping in our rooms became almost unbearable, so much so that moving our beds out onto the balcony proved the only option! This said, we had an awesome time, the view from our balcony making it a perfect location for late night boozing sessions! Particular congratulations go to the cleaning massive for sorting our room (tip) every day!

Matt H

We have just got back from 2 weeks in Argassi. The hotel was Very Clean, maybe a touch basic but as we wanted to explore the island we only really slept there and showered etc.... It is up a hill but not as bad a some reports say. Its worth paying for the Aircon ours was great and very welcoming after coming in from the sun. Plus you can keep the doors shutand not get bitten. All in all a good base if you want to go exploring.

Renske V

Just back from Zante and had a wonderful time there! The hotel is very nice. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very very clean! Our room had a balcony with a fantastic view. The only bad thing was that the airco. was a bit poor. The room was still too hot.

Paul S

this was our first holiday to Greece and i am sure it will be the last. We were a party of ten sharing 4 rooms and all eaten alive by moschitos. If you are not very fit don't even think of this hotel it is aprprox. half a mile up hill from the nearest beach and main attractions

Kevin A

Had a brill time.Had a room on the top floor (room 1010)overlooking the swimming pools which was great.the pools get cleaned every morning. get up early and get your towels on the sunbeds, had breakfast ,lunch & evening meal somedays at the captain's but don't over do it,get out & about & try differant places.be carefull walking down the main street ,they try & drag u in their restuarant's especially little peter & his mate at tiffany's.evening entertainment at the admiralls is ok ,quiz nites ,bingo, kareoke & kids club(which isnt long enough)say a big hello to sam & mention GAV from derby.by the way the air conditioning is great but it'll cost u 4.50 euro's a day, hide the remote controll when u go out or the maid's will turn it off.overall had a smashing time ,& would definetly go back.

Derek J

An excellent hotel, the room we booked was said to have an inland view, yet from our room and balcony we had an excellent view of the harbour and hills of Zante Town. We went during half term week which was a mistake as the hotel and pools were full of screaming kids, so it was very noisy, but the children were well behaved but noisy. The room service was good daily cleaning and clean sheets twice a week. As the hotel is on a hill I would not recommend it to anyone with walking problems or a serious heart condition, apart from that yes we would return.

Laura D

We spent a week in the commodore last week and found it very basic but very clean. We had a balcony with a lovely view of the sea. The pool was very cold and a bit boring..so we found a great pool/ bar/resturaunt called 'Dimitirios'. It was excellent, only 6 euros for 2 cushioned sunbeds, right next to the sea. We would really recommend it. It is on the main road into the town, on the right, just past the pancake place! Food is really cheap, and lots to chose from. Must go to Tropicana for the lastest releases at their cinema- we watched spiderman last week!

Liz G

I am going to this hotel in July 2002 and jus woundered what it is like there? i stayed at the admiral last year and although basic it was very clean etc so i would just like to know if it is similar or better? Please feel free to email me luv Liz Liz2kuk@hotmail.com

Ed

Stayed in July 2001, had a fantastic time! The island is not the best in Greece, but Argassi was very nice. Not too lively, with lots of bars and resteraunts. The room was very nice, clean and new looking. The air con was £3 a day extra, but was well worth it! The staff are very good, in fact the whole set up is great! Just avoid going through Cosmos - the reps are worse that useless!

Emma B

We thought the Commodore was brilliant! We had a great time there, the pools are lovely and the views we had from our room were magnificant! We were upgraded from the Admiral because we had such a terrible room, and found the Commodore and Captains were much better than the Admiral. If you want to read about a pool hotel go and look at what I wrote for my review of the Admiral.

Nicola S

We stayed at the Commodore last Summer, most of the Entertainment is at the Admiral's(just across the road from the Commodore)the only thing that we found was there is quite an incline to get to the commodore, so if your parents are elderly they may have problems, but as long as they take it easy they should be ok. There are quite a number of steps to get into the main building, but the one big advantage is because it is high up the views are terrific. The Captains do meals which are a buffet style, you pay one price and you can eat as much as you can, and again the view is brilliant. The rooms are very basic (but aren't they all) pool facilities are not brilliant, but clean. Hope this is of some help.

David M

The Commodore is part of a chain of hotels, which started with the Captains Hotel & has progressively grown from there. I have never actually stayed there, but I have visited a few times. There are two nice "authentic" restaurants nearby. They are "Edem" which is very nice and directly across the road from there is the "Ilysion" which is owned and run by Panayotis a.k.a. "The Secretary". He also owns a large supermarket beside the Commodore. Both of these serve very nice food and the people although quiet are very pleasant.

Elaine C

My parents will be staying in June can anyone give any tips or comments. Is the hotel clean and well kept? Any good eating places nearby?
