I have to be totally honest and say this was the worst meal we had the full two weeks.
I did not enjoy it and neither did my hubby. We both ended up next day with a upset stomach which may have been concidence but im not sure.
sorry a thumbs down from me
Best place we ate all fortnight. Went twice & would have returned for a 3rd time on our last night if it hadn't been for the high winds & tides stopping our stroll!
just got back from the olde vineyard and couldnt fault it.went in every night.everything i ordered on the menu was catered for without any problems at all.i couldn't find any seasoning faults with the food and a few of the other guests from the hotel who had dined there could fault it either.the fish was fantastic and so where all the Greek dishes.i also find you dont have a coachful of people watching you every 5 mins either.george Adams admiral entertainer went with us one night and loved it.the owner has one tiny fault and that is the footy team he supports but his restaurant is perfect.if you are going to tslivi its well worth finding this place early in your holiday
WE WENT TO THE OLD VINEYARD AS A PARTY OF 12 AND IT WAS THE FIRST TIME WE HAD BEEN.THE FOOD AND WINE WERE FANTASTIC AND COULDN'T BE FAULTED AND THE COUPLE THAT RUN THE RESTAURANT ARE LOVELY-HOWEVER WE RETURNED 3 DAYS LATER AS A PARTY OF 5 AND IT WAS TERRIBLE.ALL OF OUR MEALS WERE SALTY.(FROM THE FISH TO THE STEAK.)THE SERVICE WAS SLOW AND WE COULDN'T HAVE PUDDING BECAUSE THEY'D RUN OUT OF CREAM.WE WERE DISAPPOINTED AS WE HAD SUCH A BEAUTIFUL MEAL THE FIRST TIME.WE WILL GO BACK AGAIN THOUGH AND GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY WHEN WE GO BACK TO TSILIVI.
The Olde Vineyard was probably one of the worst restaurants my party have ever been too. One of my party was a trained chef. The starters were fine, the main meals however was very over seasoned with salt. I had the local fish, my partner had the chicken and my two friends had something else, can't remember what. Even the greek roast potatoes were over seasoned with salt. The waiter came over who we found out was the proprietors husband and we complained to him, he went off around the restaurant and came back saying that no one else had complained and why wern't we eating it. His wife came over and she said that his father was the chef and he was greek, and has been told before about over seasoning the food. We recieved the cost of two of the main courses back, but with the very poor and unprofessional attitude of the husband, I was in two minds not to pay for anything. I would definatelty not recommed this restaurant
4th time in Tsilivi and we always visit this great restaurant several times. Well worth the stroll along the beach to find it. (Just the top side of the Caravell Hotel 100mtrs from beach) The best fresh fish and best beef Stiffado I have ever had! No music blaring from surrounding bars, just gentle Greek music in the background. great authentic atmosphere. Do roasted veg not just chips and peas!
We whent to the olde vineyard on the last night of our holiday in 2005 with 2 friends we met over there and everyone said how fantastic it was ! We all said that its a shame that we only found it on the last night !
Hey,
Every year we enjoy a chilled out meal here - a lovely place to eat and the food is delicious. I can't stop thinking of the Pork fillet Lemonato and every one in the family love the chipped potatos - see you next year!
The best Spanakopitakia that I have ever tasted in Greece! It was worth going for that alone.
george and amanda made me my wife and rebecca and thomas really welcome.huddersfield the kitten kept rebecca amused all night while my 6 month slept through the peace and quiet.all the food we tried was just great and the house wine was so moorish.george also gave my daughter and me a big tin of his own olives.we tried a couple of other restaurants in tsilivi but these were ok if you wanted coaches wizzing past 6 feet away from you plus the grub wasnt a patch on the olde vineyard.the only fault i found was the amount of time ill have to spend at the gym for the next few weeks as my girth has spread a little after all the good food and wine.
Best restaurant in tsilivi.....without a doubt
All home cooked fresh food....we will be back!
We also stayed at Zante Maris Hotel and walked along the beach to the Olde Vineyard.
Just returned from Zante, stayed at the Zante Maris Hotel, Tsivili and walked round via the beach to the restaurant.
We ate here twice during our two week stay and can thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Both Amanda & George were very attentive and friendly. The food was out of this world, and the house wine was excellent.
We are coming back to Zante next year and will be coming back to the Olde Vineyard.
Absolutely worth going. If you like fresh fish, its probably the best in Tsilivi. Its at the far end of town, just go through the Hotel Caravel trust me its worth looking for. Good setting as well, just off the beach and with a sea view.
We had our wedding reception at the restaurant. George & Amanda catered for 23 of us and everyone said the food was fantastic.
The variety of startes was amazing, including greek salad, village sausage and aubergine dip. Main courses were brilliant, i had the best moussaka ever.
We had a live greek band there all night. The atmosphere was incredible and the fireworks just finished the night off.
We will be back next year. You must go and try.
Gordon & Lesley Kinnear, Fife, Scotland.
PS. Good luck to Queens of the South (That's for you George)
THE BEST REAL GREEK PLACE IN TOWN, UNFORTUNATLY WE ONLY FOUND IT ON OUR LAST WEEK BUT FANTASTIC LAMB KLEPHTICO, HAD ME COMING BACK FOR MORE
Arrived back from Tsilivi yesterday (26.8.04). We regretted only finding this restaurant after our first week, but it was the best traditional restaurant (in our opinion) in Zante. After searching "Blackpool in the Sun" (Tsilivi High St) for a non-English restaurant (we can get Pukka Pies, mash and the like at home), we wanted REAL GREEK quisine. The Olde Vinyard was the highlight of our holiday. The delicious starters of grilled feta, and garlic mushrooms were out of this world (my mouth is watering just thinking about it). The main courses of roast cod in garlic, lamb kleftiko (so tender, the meat just fell off the bone!), and the beef stifado were to die for!!! The walnut cake for desert was mouth-wateringly gorgeous (though did nothing to help my waistline!). Would love to know what the warming dark liquor was, given to us at the end of our meal, had a cinnomon and clove flavour, just wonderful! If ever we come back to Zante, though we'll probably stay somewhere less commercialised like Keri (in the South of the Island), we will definitely have to come and revisit the Olde Vinyard. Thanks for the highlight of our holiday. Alma, Tony and boys (Tom and Mark).
We contacted Amanda before we went over to Tsilivi to arrange a small wedding party meal. The food was so good we ate there several times and not just after the wedding
There was only nine guests but we had a fantastic meal served to us by great people. My husband thoroughly recommends the rabbit and my daughters really enjoyed the white bait and the prawns.
Thankyou so much for lovely meals,we look forward to eating at the Vineyard again next July.
Thanks again.
Hi Amanda thankyou for your reply I have sent an e mail and just wanted to check you had recieved it.
Angie
Angie, Thanks for your query about our restaurant. It will take you about 10 minutes to walk along the beach from your hotel to us.
We have held many wedding receptions at the restuarant, both large and small.
My e-mail address is gpomonis@germanosnet.gr, please contact me with what you have in mind and I can give you some ideas of what we have done in the past.
The easiest way to find us from the Mediterrane Hotel is to turn left outside the hotel, walk up past the Jupiter Hotel, take the first right (the road that leads to Caravel and Alexandra Beach hotels) and either walk through the grounds of the Caravel Hotel and out of the gate by the swimming pool, we are 50m left form the gate or follow the road to the beach turn left and we are 150m away.
We will be staying near to the tsilivi beach hotel on 22nd july. Can you give us dirctions from there please.
Also do you think this might be a nice place to host a small wedding party for 7 adults and 4 children?
Please can someone give me directions to this restaurant, we searched for it in May we will be back in September and would love to try it we are staying at the hotel Mediterranee if that helps thanks
Yet again Amanda and George made us feel very welcome, the food is excellent the Lobster was a special treat not to be missed. Jade with her brilliant sense of humour kept us entertained, it was like being part of an ever growing family. Brilliant hope to return very soon!
a little hard to find but worth the search....the comment below is a good guide. food was great, service was excellent and very reasonable...well worth a visit.....try the steak or the meatballs....saganaki is good too
The OLDE Vineyard was excellent. Thank you Amanda, George and especially Artemis for making us so welcome. The food was first class and the view idyllic. Very accessible from Bouka Beach which we thought was the best on the island. Artemis- we hope you managed to find Lazy after we left!?
One of the best resturants in Tsilivi, the food was excellent especially the fish dishes. George and Amanda are very friendly and helpful. Once you visit this resturant you will definately go back. DONT MISS OUT!

One of the best places to eat on the Island have been back and forth for the last nine years. George Amanda and the family always make you feel welcome and the food is always excellent. Would recomend the Old Vineyard to any one visiting the Island.May 2003
Finding this restaurant really made our holiday a big thank you to Caroline, Amanda, George and staff
By far the best and most authentic Greek food anywhere in Tsilivi. The service was friendly and the location romantic. This is the place for you if you like proper Greek food.
We stated here in October. On our first night here we had no idea where to eat so the owner of Bella Vista (amazing people)drove us to the Vineyard. CAroline was our server and she was hilarious! After our AMAZING meal Amanda drove us into town to an internet cafe. They went out of there way for us and we really appreciated everything! George was amazing as well...even though he had the big cast on his arm. hope the arm is better now! Thanks for everything...If I ever come back to the island your restaraunt will be the first one I head to. From the Canadian girls..Christina and Lindsay!
Excellent Greek restaurant - family run - friendly - excellent food and good value. Recommended.
hi amanda ive tried email several times but it keeps being returned my email address is juliechester@aol.com
Hi amanda it,s julie i've been trying to email you and i just keep getting them returned my email address is juliechester@aol.com i'll keep trying and hope to hear fom you soon
Julie, Thanks for contacting us about your wedding reception next October. We have held many parties at the restaurant not only weddings but also birthdays and christenings for both English and Greek customers. The location is perfect away from the centre of the resort and by the sea with stunning views over to the Greek mainland. We have a large outside terrace covered by vines and surrounded by flowers. Hopefully it will not be necessary but we also have inside seating. We are a family business with my father in law who is from Zakynthos the head chef all our dishes are of a traditional greek food. If you are interested we can alos arrange for live music. We held our own wedding reception and daughters christening at the restaurant because we did not feel we could find somewhere with a better atmosphere. The wedding was in September and the christening at the end of October this year. If you want to contact us further our e-mail address is gpomonis@germanosnet.gr Amanda Pomonis
to amanda the owner im getting married in tsilivi next october and im looking for somewhere for a meal afterwards i have 35 people travelling ait me i,ve read some of the comments and was wondering if you cater for partys your restaurant sounds like the perfect place
We have been coming to Zakynthos for about 11 years and we love this restaurant. George and Amanda and all the family are lovely people and have made us so welcome every time. If you want egg and chips, this is not the place, but if you want real Greek food, then you are in for a treat.
I am the owner of "The Olde Vineyard" with my husband Georgios. We are situated on Bouka Beach next to the Caravel Hotel. If you need more precise directions please contact us. We look forward to seeing you and offering you the warmth and friendliness of a true Zàkynthian welcome.
Where is this restaurant and it is it also called the Old Vineyard? We hope to be staying in Dinos apts. Is it anywhere near?
Since first coming here in 1999 I can always take groups of clients here with full confidence knowing that we will recieve a warm welcome, excellent service and superb food. The ambience and scenery are perfect here, recommended to find REAL Greek Hospitality. Thank you, George and Amanda Linda Ashmore (Solo's Holidays Tour Manager)
Spent our last night in here and was really nice! Dale, Michelle, Ian, Chez, Sue,Steve, Malc & Lorraine.. Hope you had a good time.
Fantastic. Really Greek. The food was excellent and tried to go back on last night but a storm was looming and wold have been left stranded as it is slightly out of the way which was another great feature. Would def recommend to anybody. The night we were there, there were musicians with typical Greek music. I don't know if that happened every night. The wine was great too.
our favorite place to eat in tsilivi!. try the swordfish, fantastic, also I would recommend the village wine. added bonus is the great views as the sun sets!
This restaraunt is one of the highlights of our holiday when in Tsilivi. So much so that on our last two visits we ate there almost every night. Not only is the fish the best we have ever tasted, but the rabbit dishes are fabulous once you get over "Bright Eyes". George and Amanda make you feel as though you have returned home when you go there and are always happy to give you tips and directions around the Island. The local house wine, which is delicious, seals this perfect, traditional greek experience. If you go to Zante and you don't visit this resteraunt - you just missed out on something very special.
This was our first visit to Zante, The Vineyard was highly recommended to us by friends. The food and atmosphere was great along with the lovely sea views. The menu is great - lots of fresh fish dishes and traditional greek food. George and Amanda where very welcoming, we will definately go back to see them. Oh and try the wine - it's fantastic!!!!
We have been to Tsilivi several times and visited the Vineyard on each occasion. George and Amanda are lovely. The atmosphere, food and wine are great. Well worth the walk along the beach (but take a torch!). Will keep going back.
This is what we would call a real Greek Taverna. We were only on the Island for 7 nights and we visited The Old Vinyard for 6 of them. Lovely situation and excellent food. The house wine comes highly recommended.
Very nice setting overlooking sea, just walk along Bouka Beach from The Admirals. Seemed very authentic food, service good but priced more than other meals we had.
This restaurant is on the beach and has wonderful sea and sunset views. Di and Mick Carey West Yorks
