how far is the roseland hotel from down under and the costas apartments as i have booked in for next year? any help would be great! i just want to know where abouts it is so i don't get lost lol!
Best Hotel In Kalmaki.
Just returned from a wonderful 2 week hol at the roseland (23/7/06-06/8/06) everything you read on here is true. Absolutely spotless public areas and rooms, cleaned everyday, free air con july and august. great snack bar by the pool, lovely friendly staff and great view of the planes coming in to land. About 5 mins stroll to the beach thru the gate at the back of the pool, slightly longer to the strip, but nice to walk off all that great food and drink! we didn't have an evening meal at the hotel, so can't comment on the food there, breakfast was the usual fare, cereals, eggs, meats, fruit etc... or just juice and toast, if that's your thing, my only tiny criticism, the breakfast coffee from the urn was pants! The resort has something for everyone and felt very safe, even walking back from the strip in the early hours. The hotel even had a security guard at night, which was reassuring, but thankfully not necessary. If you've booked here you won't be dissappointed, far and away the nicest hotel i've visited in greece. It's not big and full of facilities, but if you like the personal touch, getting to know who your on holiday with and no worries about health and hygiene, then this is the place for you. Well done all at the roseland, and i would definantly return someday.
The Roseland Hotel is the best hotel we have stayed in abroad. It was worthy of a higher star rating. It is v.clean and the staff are v.friendly.Air con was free and needed in temp of 100*c,pool area and food v.good .Hairdryer broke in bathroom and replaced the same day.Went on a trip to Olympia and staff offered us an early breakfast (6am).Air craft noise is not a problem and its interesting to see the planes come in-it is not constant noise or intrusive.Happy hour is a must with half price cocktails!Hotel near to beach and main strip. Lots of excellent places to eat.Used plug-in mosquito repellant in rooms and not bitten once!We cannot fault The Roseland and would certainly return.
What a great two weeks we had all the staff were very friendly & helpful.Food and cleanliness top rate.Hotel very close to beach & main street bars & resturants.Managed to swim with turtles & get some very good pics.Hope to return in the very near future.
We have just returned from a fantastic 2 week break in Kalamaki at the Roseland Hotel.
Got to agree with all the comments about the roseland...its superb. Cleanest and far better than the 3 stars it gets. The Greek night are a must as the food was good and plentiful. The bar was also a great meeting point and I would like to thank all those in the hotel for making our visit such a nice one. (Even the scotch who preferred Swedan to England). The only down side with the whole holiday was Zante airport ( wot a mess).
Super hotel!!!!! Staff couldn't do enough for you, My little girl had an a fall by the pool which needed stitches and they were great. Rooms cleaned every day without fail, Food at pool side snack bar very cheap and of good quailty, It's about 5-10 stroll to the resort centre and the same to the beach. We went with thomson and we only saw our rep on the first day not even one on the coach on return transfer which is a 10 min drive, Where as thomas cook rep was there everyday and even walked round the pool to check everyone was ok.All in all a great holiday and would defo go back again...
weve just come back from staying in kalamaki for two weeks. we stayed at this hotel and we thought it was lovely. all the staff are friendly and make you really welcome.the snack bar is open from 08:00 - 22:00 and its got everything you can think off on it. we ended up eating there everyday for our lunch and going up to heras up the hill for our tea.the views from our bedroom was really nice too im goin back in october with mates and back in june with my family, its that good!
My partner, 2 year old son and i have just returned from an absolutely wonderful 2 week holiday at the Roseland! The staff were superb, really friendly and helpful and the hotel was immaculate!
We stayed here in July 2004 for two weeks bed and breakfast.
The Hotel came reccommended to us and it was excellent. There are no negative comments I could make other than we were only there for one week and not two.
we booked this hotel after reading good reviews. We werent disappointed. Usually book into 4 stars minimum hotels in canary islands or balaerics we were a bit worried as greek hotels are sometimes a * less.. so were we more then pleased when we arrived to find a very clean and friendly place to stay. the staff were great and the food and drinks are very good prices. the pool is good and we had a lovely time and will definately try to return in the future... well recommended
We have just returned from a week's holiday at the Roseland and would comment as follows:
I was wondering if anyone knew what the late check out arrangements are? I go in just over a week and with it being a night flight we don't fly back until 7.30am the day after we check out.
My boyfriend and I have just returned from 2 weeks in the Roseland Hotel, it was by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were very, very friendly. Buffet breakfast was good, with lots of choice. Rooms were lovely and cleaned every day and maids were very efficient. For anyone who likes cocktails, the After Eight cocktails are a must, lovely!!! Food was brilliant, especially the Souvlaki! Kalamaki on the whole was excellent, would love to return soon!!
My husband and I have just returned from the roseland and it was great, the staff were fantastic the room clean and tidy, the pool area was cleaned every evening. The breakfast was very good if you go here you must take advantage of the hotels greek night they had everyone up dancing. We shall return.
WE DIDNT STAY AT THE ROSELANDS,BUT SOME FRIENDS OF OURS DID,WHEN WE WENT ROUND TO VISIT THEM,WE WERE MADE VERY WELCOME BY ALL THE STAFF.WELL DONE ROSELANDS!!
Spent two weeks in the Roseland and enjoyed every minute, the rooms were cleaned daily and towels and bedding changed every three days, everywhere was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The continental style breakfast had an excellent choice and there was always a member of staff nearby to make sure that everything kept topped up! I didnt use the pool, (purely because I prefer to go to the beach!) but it was also clean and had a childrens pool and a jacuzzi area. The hotel is at the end nearest to the airport but the aircraft noise is only during the day and it didnt bother us at all.
If i get the chance i will return
Fully recommend the Roseland - nice location, well maintained, quiet with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff
I would recomend The Roseland Hotel to anybody.
The restaurant I was on about yesterday is called "Pandesia" and its wonderful! Best Mix Grill for 8,50 euro by far!!!!!! The Penne Four Cheeses is lush and so is the Steak :o) They also give you a complimentory shot afterwards, but you do normally get that anywhere. You have to go if you are staying in Kalamaki!!
I think the guy below me said it all. The hotel was (For the money we paid) outstanding. We were there from 09/05-16/05. The staff are faultless, the rooms spotless. Definitley the best greek accomodation i have ever stayed in. The pool and the loungers were imacculate and the area cleaned every evening. The breakfasts are not bad and there is plentiful supply of everything you would expect from a continnental breakfast bar. The evening meals are extremley good and very nicely priced. Despite the numerous and excellent other places to eat, it is definitley worth staying in for at least one evening meal. The kitchen looked very clean and well run (I notice these things!). If i am being picky, the hotel bar dissapoints, it wouldn't look out of place in a travel lodge on the M6, it is to brightly lit in the evening and really has no character, we had one drink in there during our entire stay. Other than that i cannot praise the place enough. It is easy to see why they have won numerous consecutive awards from two of the major UK travel operators.
The restraunt with the steep steps is Italian (I can't remember the name either, next to the car hire place). The food there is all Italian (Funnily enough!) and everything is freshly cooked. By far the best place to eat in the resort, the food was simply fantastic both in quality and quantity. Proper italian pizza's and pasta dishes of every kind delightfully cooked and presented.Ha ha, I forgot to add my ratings! Doh!!
We flew back from Zante, Kalamaki on Monday 23rd May 2005. The Roseland Hotel was Fantastic! It's the best hotel Ive ever stayed in on a Greek Island. The Room was massive, and had Sky TV, a nice bathroom and clean towels every other day. The bed was re-made every single morning and the staff were lovely. The bar had a Happy Hour from 6pm - 9pm and it had a very good selection of beers and cocktails. There was a pool table and you could also play Table Tennis (which was a laugh)!! The Reception will book you a Taix to anywhere you like, you just ask them and 5 mins later a Taxi is waiting for you. Kalamaki itself was lovely. A busy main road at times but nothing too bad. ALL The restaurants were cheap to eat in and the food was lovely. We tried as many as we could but the best by far was one that was 1/2 the way up the main Kalamaki road and it had steep stairs going down leading into the restaurant. I cant remember what it was called now, but you will know the one when you see the steep stairs, however there is wheelchair access too. It began with a 'P', will update when I can remember! All the super markets were good, but the best on was Gregory's super market. That was at the bottom of the Kalamaki road. I would also recommed the water park. It only opened on the 19th May or something like that, and we went on the Saturday (21st May) and it was dead, which was great as we didnt have to que for any rides, and there were tons of sunbed and free!! also you can pick up some good pictures for 3 euro's. Kalamaki is a good place for couples and families. It does have some good bars like the drunken corner, Cocktails Joes and many more but its not 18-30's - that Laganas. I went there for the night out and that was very 18-30. But it was also a good night out. I WOULD definatly recommed going to the Pink Panther Bar - the DJ is Fantastic and Very funny! Anyway I loved it and will be going back there in a year or so for sure!!! Jo
We flew back from the Roseland Hotel on 19 May 2005 after two weeks. The hotel was fantastic and spotlessly clean. Our three year old daughter was the subject of most of the attention and was even taken around the pool for the Greek dancing by Georgia! We loved our time there and would definitely go back next year. The pool is v. chilly at this time of year - although it didn't seem to deter our daughter!
We stayed at the roseland in sept 04, and what a lovely, quiet, clean and friendly hotel it was. will definately stay there again next time we go back to zante.
It was great, very friendly, very clean, very much worth a visit!!
We have just returned home from another visit and we woulnd't change anything about the hotel having been going there for five years now i think we must like it,this time though we took our four week old daughter with us and georgia and her family couldn't do eoungh to make our stay more enjoyable, we didn't need to ask for anything. So all i can say is roll on june next year.
I booked Roseland through the net, having seen it only from the outside. We had two big rooms, and we loved every minute. We'll be back for sure. Everyone was so friendly, the rooms were clean and the pool area was thoroughly cleaned every morning. We had clean towels every day. The two small children we brought were made to feel welcome. We were grateful for the absence of karaoke nights and discos so evident in many other hotels in Greece. Roseland is a really warm and quiet family hotel.
Have stayed at the Roseland Hotel 5 times now and we love it ! We have been going to Kalamaki for the past 8 years and have stayed at various hotels but the Roseland is the best !All the staff are very friendly and helpful and it is also spotlessly clean. We look forward to returning next year.Love to all especially Narcis behind the bar XX
I just thought i would add the following, i stayed in the roseland when it first opened in july 2000 and have returned some nine times now, having been to other hotels in the area we always end up back at the roseland, we have found the staff to be more than helpful and when we got married there in july 2002 they even let us have our reception in the hotel, not one of our guest [36 in total] had a bad word to stay about the hotel staff/rooms or the running of it,we went back this year in may for two weeks and we are hoping to return in october.
By the way were were there from 15 july 04 to 29 july
the whale in the pool belonged to our son, Alex.
He was friends with all the kids around the pool. By the end of the two weeks, everyone at the hotel knew who he was.
The Roseland Hotel was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean and well presented. The air conditioning is free throughout July and August which was essential if you are to sleep a wink.
The breakfasts were the typical greek continental style breakfasts, but a lot of choice on offer with bread, eggs, ham, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, cornflakes, tea, coffee and orange juice provided each morning.
The pool area was spacious with enough sunbeds to go round.
The hotel is situated near Paulo's, sandwiched between the Bizaro Palace Hotels. It was approximatly 5 mins to Paulo's and then another 5 mins to Drunk Corner. A taxi back from the cave bar cost 5 euros, which appeared to be a standard fare no matter where you went in kalamaki.
The beach was a 5 to 10 minute walk.
The nearest shop is a 30 second walk from the front of the hotel.
We stayed at the Roseland Hotel in July 2004 and found it to be excellent. The staff could not have been more friendly - the hotel was spotless, the food served was excellent, and the poolside area was kept to a very high standard. The rooms were cleaned every day and contained everything we needed. Personally, I can't understand anybody who has any complaints against it. We also really enjoyed the resort of Kalamaki - our favourite restaurant was Dias (just off the main road in Kalamaki going towards the airport). Great food and good prices. We went on the round island cruise which we really enjoyed, with swimming stops in gorgeous coves with blue water that had to be seen to be believed. Great beaches to visit are Gerakas and St Nicholas (good watersports at this one). All in all, we had a fantastic holiday - a lovely location and a great hotel. Can't wait to go back!!
The Roseland is fantastic - the rooms are clean and modern, the staff are always friendly, and there is a real mixture of guests (couples, oldsters, families and groups of teenagers) Star Wars Racer is there too, which is cool. Air Conditioning and Fridges are available, and there is an inflatable whale in the pool.
It were reet good at Roseland and we'll definitely be returning.
THANKS AGAIN to Georgia and all the staff at Roseland for giving us a great room and making our stay so amazing.
Just returned from holiday, this was our 4th visit to Kalamaki and our 4th stay at the Roseland. It was as good as ever and I am sure we will be coming here again.
Tony and Cathy Griffiths
one word to sum it up - GREAT
hello everyone me&zoe have just come back from a 2 week stay at the roseland hotel.16/5/2004-31/5/2004 and we loved it from day 1.the hotel its self was spotless the pool, sun beds and the gardens were all kept very clean.the beds&towels were changed every two days.the staff were very nice&helpfull.the first week we were their we only ate in the hotel because the food was so nice and so cheap.all in all it is the best place to go for very relaxing holiday and we are going back next year on our honeymoon.all the people we made friends with at the hotel were all great and made our stay all the more enjoyable.to sum our holiday up we would give it 10/10 all the way.from paul&zoe.in derby
Blimey, didn't think I'd get angry replies just because I was daring enough to comment!!
Don't worry yourselves of course we complained to the hotel staff about the towels, the fact our room wasn't ready when we needed it, and that there was only one highchair. Nothing was done hence why I said they were unhelpful and unapproachable. I didn't even question the cleanliness of the hotel lobby, can't say I spent much time there. If it makes you sleep easier, we did even mention it to our rep!
We did have a lovely holiday, despite these minor problems but just thought I would mention them that is all. Of course we could have been an exception to the rule or maybe we are just used to better hotels, who knows? Although surely it could say something that of all those guests in that hotel there are actually hardly any people who have looked at this website and commented. Maybe you are the exception??
As for not writing my full name, does it really matter?? I am not happy about writing my personal information where anybody can have access to it, That is all. As we never spent time in the hotel lobby, You wouldn't know me, and I don't know who you are, so let's leave it at that.
If you own this hotel, then I am sorry I have offended you. I am allowed my opinions, and they are that the hotel is okay, average, nothing to shout about. If you just use the hotel as a base and you are not taking a walking toddler who runs and plays in the sand and needs a bath everyday and therefore clean, dry towels then this hotel is good. If you do have children, then maybe take a few extra towels if you can fit them in your luggage allowance. Wet, damp towels were fine for me and more husband to use but I wasn't happy about drying my son with them.
I will not be looking at this site again, or bothering to write an opinion on any other site so don't waste your time writing more replies to me. Enjoy your future holidays, I'm glad the roseland make you happy! I'll be looking for my idea of perfection somewhere else (ie any hotel we've been to ever before)
I'm sorry you feel that you have had such a bad experience at the Roseland, but surely if things were that bad, why didn't you complain? We have always found the staff to be very approachable, and if someone isn't happy about something they will do their best to sort it out. Or if not the staff, did you complain to your rep? Leaving your towels at the door in the hope that the maid would 'take the hint' isn't really the best way to complain. We too have just returned, and our towels were changed on a regular basis (every 2 days at least). The beds were made and bathrooms cleaned every day, and we find it difficult to believe that they would miss you out. Kiki in the restaurant mopped the hotel floors every day (we saw it ourselves), and we let our 16 month old toddler crawl around the lobby. There was no way we would've done that if it was that dirty. You only have to look at all the positive comments as opposed to the one or two negative ones. Maybe you did have a bad experience, but this must be an isolated one in our opinion. If you have taken the time to put a comment on here, email the hotel. We do feel however that if you really wanted to make a proper complaint, you would've put your full name on here.
We were really pleased when we read the positive comments about this hotel prior to arriving in kalamaki. However we were disappointed. We found staff unhelpful and unapproachable. We were made to wait for our room for 45 minutes which is not a good idea when you have an irritable 20 month toddler who had been up half the night travelling. It would have taken longer had we not insisted on waiting outside.
The cleanliness was very poor. After several days of the same damp smelly towels, we resulted to leaving them in a pile by the door in the hope that the maid may get the hint and change them however this was not the case. Disgusting! (The maid was a different lady on the last couple days of our holiday however, and things seemed to improve.)
The breakfast was awful. We have been to plenty of hotels in Greece and Turkey (also the Klelia in Kalamaki) and they all leave this hotel in the shade. There is one very dodgy highchair in the restaurant, so get to breakfast early if you too have an active toddler or you could face the same fights we had with our son getting him to stay still on a 'big boys' seat.
The cost of a safety deposit box was ridiculous so we decided to risk it as was the cost of the fridge. We needed to buy fresh milk for our son but decided it would work out cheaper to buy a new pint of milk every day.
Eating out try Casa di Napoli for the best italian meal ever!! or take a nice scenic walk to Zeppos for a more greek experience.
We may return to Kalamaki one day but not to the roseland - no way! As a base it is okay, but it is not an excellent hotel as some of these comments suggest.
This is a message for Les & Anne - Welcome back to England..!! Crap innit! We both went back to work on Monday and it all seems so far away now. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday and hope to hear from you soon. Take Care, John & Kelly (the best hotel neighbours u can have)
Joanne, I've tried putting the picture on but it wont send me a password. You can email me on erindoorz@aol.com and i can send u the pic... u never know, u might remember us. The other pics on this site are wot we took during our last stay
Joanne, Our holiday is 16-23 May. Shame we're gonna miss eachother.
Under the picture at the top of this it says there are 2 pictures in the database... it should be in there, if not I will put it on again
Hope you enjoy your holiday!!
Kelly, we arrive on 24th May, for 2 weeks, so if you are there for 2 weeks aswell, we will see you there, and could meet up. Where abouts did you put the picture on?
last message is wrong...just remembered we got there 31st August and left 14th September so we must have seen you there. My memory is terrible! I've added a picture of us...maybe you've seen us round the pool lol
We got there on Sept 31st 03 so we just missed you. And we go on the 16th May...so will miss you again lol. Shame, we could have got together
We too stayed there in September 2003 and even stayed on an extra few days we loved it so much! We are due to return in 4 weeks time. Counting the days!
We stayed at the Roseland in Sept 2003 and we loved it so much we are now due to return in 3 weeks time!! We actually booked it for our honeymoon but its now just as holiday as our wedding has been postponed until later in the year.
Cant fault the hotel in anyway. Excellent!!! Cant wait to get there!!!
Hooray! Now you can go to the Roseland with Thomson too who fly with Britannia and wait for it ... on a Monday or Friday. They are the only company that fly on that day and the airport is really quiet not like the madness of Thursdays or Sundays!! We found the Roseland in the Thomson Greece Brochure. Excellent news Roseland for all of us that like coming back ...
A LADY CALLED ROSALIND COHEN WROTE IN ON AUGUST 24TH 2003 ABOUT HOW OVER TWO WEEKS THEY ONLY HAD THEIR BEDDING CHANGED TWICE, HAVING STAYED AT THE ROSELAND THREE TIMES NOW I CAN TELL YOU THAT WHAT SHE SAID IS DEFINITLEY NOT TRUE.
SHE ALSO COMMENTED ON THE BREAKFAST SAYING THAT THERE WAS NOT A GOOD SELECTION AND THIS ALSO IS NOT TRUE.
I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT THE ROSELAND IS THE MOST FRIENDLY AND CLEAN HOTEL ON THE WHOLE ISLAND,AND THE POOL SIDE SNACKS ARE GREAT!!
SO IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BOOKING YOUR 04 HOLIDAY AT ROSELAND WHO WILL HAVE THE BEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We stayed at the Roseland from September 11th until 23rd (Georgia and all at the hotel will remember us as we were meant to leave on the 18th but managed to stay on with the help of Mark, Joanne, Georgia and Katrina!) The hotel itself is lovely, very relaxed atmosphere, and spotlessly clean. The staff couldn't do enough for us, especially our baby Daniel, and made us feel very welcome. Narcis behind the bar makes the best cocktails (especially the Chocolate Roseland mmmmm!) and the food at the pool snack bar is fantastic. We're sure anyone who stays here will have a fantastic time. Thank you to all for a wonderful stay, and see you in May next year!!!
We got back yesterday after 2 weeks at the Roseland Hotel. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the place. We watched the man scrubbing all 3 pools and all around them every morning. The pool bar area & the dining room was kept clean. I never found out her name but the little lady behind the pool bar worked like a goodun' keeping everything spotless!
There is aircraft noise as we were informed by our travel agent but its not all through the night or early in the morning. It doesn't really bother anyone to be honest. It was another thing to get photo's of, all them planes flying right beside you.
The breakfast spread was the same everyday but sufferable. We took some of the boiled eggs and make our own egg mayonaise with salad cream and soft rolls bought from the shop up the road. The pool bar food was delicious.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. The poor night porter was running around like a march hare when the bottom floor flooded in the storms we had! The storms, by the way, are definately something to watch!! Absolutely Amazing
The rooms are cleaned daily and the maids are very friendly. The rooms are adequate size with your own bathroom including bath and shower. The TV in the rooms are Greek channels but if your lucky you might find something in English with Greek subtitles in the evening.
The radio only started working on our last day, and that was Greek too!!
There was only a couple of things that let the hotel down, in our opinio: they have no entertainment in the hotel, they have sky tv in the lounge but thats it. You have to pay for your air conditioning, fridge and safety deposit box in your rooms after 31st Aug (which was the day we arrived) We was not informed of this by our agent so that worked out quite expensive.
We ate most nights at Paolo's just up the road. The food was beautiful, the service was excellent and the staff very friendly. We have noticed the prices have increased since the change over to Euros but, still worth the money. Highly recommended restaurant!!
If Zakynthos decide to improve their airport in the future we will definately be returning. The busiest days are Thursday and Sunday...AND IT GETS VERY BUSY!! It took nearly 2 hours on the Sunday we arrived to collect our luggage, and you have to be at the airport 3 and a half hours before your flight...that's how long it takes to check in!! With only 4 checking in desks for EVERY FLIGHT! The Airport is definately in need of expansion. The queues are a nightmare - especially in that heat.
We did a sunshine cruise round the island on Saturday (the day before we came home) through the rep (doing it through a cruise operator down on the main road is a lot cheaper!!) Got some beautiful pictures of the island and had the option to swim in the beautiful blue sea round at Keri Keri, we chose to get a jet ski out which cost 50 euros for 2 of us on 1 jetski. Expensive for 15 minutes but FUN!!
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Shame the airport let us down
Can someone tell me where about the hotel is in Kakamaki, which hotels are near by
Can someone tell me where about the hotel is in Kakamaki, which hotels are near by
We stayed at the Roseland from Aug 4th to Aug 17th and we could not fault it. The hotel is spotless and our rooms were cleaned every day. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pool was very nice with plenty of sun loungers to go around. The breakfasts were the best we had experienced on any Greek Island. If anybody would like further information about the Roseland or Kalamaki please feel free to email me on tony.town@mrsmolly.freeserve.co.uk.
Just returned 2 days ago from 2 weeks here. The hotel looked clean and quite impressive but we were very disappointed in the poor and monotonous selection at breakfast. Other Greek hotels we've stayed in and others close to the Roseland offered a greater variety. Many people took in their own fruit and cereal. Only had 2 linen changes during our stay which we felt wasn't enough given the time of year and the heat. Requested a late check out room in the first week as our flight home wasn't until 6.00 am Friday and we had to check out 12 noon Thursday. Didn't get one but were told to shower by the pool. Not impressed by the attitude or helpfulness. Concerned about the security of our luggage in thet time as well. Rep. at last earned his money and got us a room at the Bizaro Grande next door for the whole night for 35 Euros ( 5 more than the Roseland) and it was excellent. Got a taxi to the airport at 2.30.am and avoided the inevitable long queues. Well worth the 9 euros.
The Thomas Cook rep suddenly changed on our 2nd day and we found it very hard to find the new rep. who was seldom there on time.
Didn't book any excursions via Thomas Cook but used Cavo Grosso just up into the main street. Tanya was excellent and booked us on 4 excursions including Athens and Olympia. They were excellent and we save about £100 over Thonas Cooks prices.
Ate at Paolos just opposite Cavo grosso and found the staff very friendly and the food good and excellent value.
We have just returned from 2 great weeks at the Roseland Hotel - room was good standard, swimming pool excellent and very clean and the other areas of the hotel were of an equally high standard. The snack bar was used by us every day and is great value. The hotel is quite near the flightpath and there is some aircraft noise daily, but this in no way interfered with our enjoyment, in fact, as we do not live anywhere near an airport, it remained a novelty to see the planes coming in to the end of the holiday!
The beach is a real treat - within easy walking distance, soft clean sand and lovely warm shallow sea that is unbelievably calm and a pleasure to swim in. We hired a car for a week from Merlis (thanks Julie!) and managed to see most of the island (in spite of the road signs - definately not because of them!).
We hired a motorboat at Koukla Beach - 30 euros for 2 hours - and motored happily around enjoying the scenery and looking for turtles, although we didn't spot any. I'm not surprised really - with all those boats around, I expect they were miles away!
The temperature was a hot 38-40 degrees C every day, although we were told that was above average.
We loved Kalamaki - it was just lively enough for us and our 3 teenage boys. The Greek Dancing night in the Fire Bar was great fun and not to be missed. We spent a number of evenings in there - the staff are very welcoming and friendly and fetched a table out from the back for us on a couple of occasions when we arrived and they were full.
We would fully recommend Kalamaki and the Roseland Hotel for a superb holiday.
Highly recommended!! The Roseland is clean, in a good location and all the staff are freindly and helpful (Be warned the fridge, air-con and safe are all additional expenses though).
2nd trip to Kalamaki and would go back to Roseland tomorrow given the chance
It's situated just off the Kalamaki-Laganas main road on the Laganas side so close to a good number of bars/restaurants. It's not too commercialised at Kalamaki and it's easy to get into the slightly livlier Laganas if need be.
We reserved our rooms over the internet and got flight-only out to Zante & it worked out a lot cheaper!
hi, have never actually stayed here , but our friends did last year and we visited them a lot, the rooms are excellent, the roselands is only three years old and a little to quite for me (maybe thats what your looking for), the food and the bar area,s are top drawer. i personnally stay at denny,s inn just round the corner, have done for 8 years now, that takes some beating.
Hi
We have just booked 2 weeks for the Roseland Hotel in Zante. I noticed all the recently comments were 2 years ago. Has anyone been recently who can give us some feedback? We have 3 kids (10,12,14) and want somewhere fairly unspoilt. Many thanx
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Roseland Hotel, everything was first class. Georgia welcomed us and was very friendly, we got a quiet room and it was very clean. The maid came everyday and did an excellent job. The location of the hotel is close to the sea and the main road in an evening when going for a meal. The noise for the airport is a small price to pay for such a fantastic hotel. We will be bach there next year without fail. Just keep inproving the airport and you will get somewhere one day.
Hi all,
I need your advice. Not sure whether to stay in Kalamaki or Laganas?! Young couple aged 22, needs to have a fab beach, restaurants and some nightlife but not major, Ibiza style!! I'm worried about aircraft noise waking me up in the morning and when I'm sunbathing by the pool? Can anyone give me an honest opinion - thanks loads x
the roseland is a friendly hotel and very clean. my boyfriend and i really enjoyed our holiday. but don't be fooled by the 'sea view' which used to exist two years ago until another hotel was built infront. And the airport is VERY close. makesure u visit down under bar it is very good for all ages. And if you want to get around taxis are easy to get but it is probably better to rent a bike. lots to do in kalamaki itself though.
What can you say? Georgia and her team have really done my wife and I proud on our Honeymoon. Excellent facilities and spotlessly clean. I have never lazed around a hotel as much as I have here. Granted it is close to the airport, but everywhere in Kalamki is! Out of the main Kalamki stretch which gives you enough time to walk up an appetite. I would challenge anybody to find a more perfect hotel. (JMC Rep was kak though!)
we spent out honeymoon at the roseland, and to be honest, we did not like it at first. the night porter that saw us to our rooms was the most miserable man i have ever met. you would not think we were keeping him in a job. anyway, it got better as the first day elapsed...we got to know the staff well, and they were all brilliant. natasha was so good at preparing cocktails (apart from a shaken gin and lemonade), and the bar prices are really good (about 4 euros a cocktail, or 2.5 euros durin happy hours). the snakck bar provides excellent food, and the pool area is really clean and as an ealry riser i saw the pool being cleaned every day at 6.30am. the hotel is really clean. avoid booking jmc trips though, we never but everyone we spoke to said jmc trips were really sit, especially the sunseekers cruise...avoid it like the plauge. {p}this part of zante is by far the best on the island. the beach is nearby, the pool at the hotel is great as are the staff and facilities.air conditioning is available at a small charge outside the july and august limits as mentioned in the brochure. the only thing that spoilt his holiday was the night porter (who wasfast asleep when our coach picked us up at 4am) and the s**tty little airport.
I HAVE HEARD THAT THE ROSELAND SERVES THE BEST COCKTAILS ON THE ISLAND. HOW MUCH ARE THEY?
We have just returned from an amazing week in Kalamaki, Hotel is superb, couldn't fault anything! Very friendly and welcoming! Facilities excellent! Great for a couples holiday! The JMC rep wasn't up to much, would recommend finding out about independent trips through the many shops offering excursions in Kalamaki, a day cruise at 20EURO'S is fab! Can't wait to return
I would like to enquire about availability of 2 double rooms or one room with 2 bedrooms to sleep 4 persons (all over 40)for 14 nights commencing on any of the following dates 9/10/11/12/13 September 2002. If available please supply details of cost
This was in a quite location on the edge of Kalamaki. It was close to the beach and had a number of restaurants nearby. The facilities were great with a pool table, childrens playarea, childrens pool and tabletennis. The rooms were a resonable size for three of us, and again the room facilties were great. There was a hairdryer, fridge, telephone and tv with english channels. Some rooms had a bath and some showers. The staff were really friendly and there was always somebody around if you needed them. The maid came round everyday and the hotel was spotless. The drinks were quite expensive and the food was ok. You are better going to the shop just round the corner for your drinks and down to the beach for your food. In general this was a great hotel. There is no building work going on and it is tucked away from the main road,so is perfect for people with young children. It's proximity to the airport is not a problem.
Went for our second time to this hotel back in September. A number of guests from the previous year had also gone back. Only problem is that it is starting to get taken over by Germans ... but apart from that the hotel is clean, friendly and well equipped. The JMC award for excellence says it all ...
