Dionisos/Dionysos Tavern and Restaurant, There are two restaurants one situated by the Alamis Apartments and one on the main street, set back a little. I visited the one on the main street at the end of May 2007.
The last night of my holiday, I and 3 friends decided to spend it at what looked to be the prettiest and most traditional looking restaurant on the main street, and with it being set back, this would cut down on traffice noise.
We had ate at a different restaurant every night and without exception the food had been marvellous, particularly The Med and Benikos.
Dionysos, the food really was the worst we had sampled on Zakynthos, there is no excuse for serving up veg that was frozen, none at all, no other restaurants do it, why should they, and they did, from the breaded mushrooms to the tescos mixed veg. The meat was tough, again no excuse for this, the jug beef was so tough, and frankly tasteless that part of it was left. The lemon asparagus lacked even the remotest sign of colour, and all of this was served with chips, the starters were with chips, the mains weres served with chips, a truly depressing end to the holiday.
If you are a brit that doesnt like to stray to far from british food, frozen veg, tough meat and chips, this is the restaurant for you, however if you visit greece for a flavour of the local hospitality and to sample the fantastic and fresh food on offer, I recommend that you stay as far away from this restaurant as possible.
Really nice here, Hat the jugged beef, very nice. Also had the mixed grill which was excellent value, On one of our visits my husband was unwell, they were so kind to us, they took us back to our hotel in their car and helped me get my husband in (nothingto do with the food or drink as we had only just ordered when this happened) Thanks again to all. Make sure you go to the right restaurant (on the main road) as there is another one on one of the side roads( not too good!)
This is a really nice restaurant in a quiet location. Food was good and filling, the lamb kleftico was really good, and all the family enjoyed their meals.
Only down point was that the moussaka was not in an individual clay pot, but a piece from as larger “pie” this was a bit of a disappointment. But it still tasted fine.
We got there early and were the first in, but it soon filled up and the service was good.
Would recommend
This restaurant is one of the best around!!!!!! we had a brilliant meal and the staff were so friendly and polite. The prices were good too!!!!!
june 05 just back great holiday apart from this dump very cheap prices and no wonder the food is crap my wife and kids ate here once we were shoved away to the side of the place outside where the waiter kept forgeting us hade to sak several times for the bill only to be told what the specials were next day try it if you dare.
not very good, veeeeeeeery crap :( very cheap tho
Excellent. Greek food at its best. Sufficiently far out of town to be quiet. Friendly and attentive staff whose recommendations are to be followed. By far and away the best food and value in Tsivili.
we went there vertually every evening to eat as the food was unbelievably good as was the staff and vangelis made us feel so welcome we have invited him to join us for a meal on his trip to uk.everything is freshly cooked but watch out for the home made wine made by the boss george it makes your legs ever so wobbly lol can't wait to see them all again when we return to tsilivi in june
Claims that it is the oldest taverna on the island. Certainly Greek with slow service and music. Although we had different dishes there was an oily residue underneath them all which we did not find pleasant. Were met originally by a cheerful English speaking chap who then disappeared as he greeted other customers and left the waiting on to a someone else who did not appear interested.
Went to this restaurant twice whilst in Tsilivi, the food was great and the owner very friendly. We found this and the Tsilivi Restaurant to be the best - at least you felt you were eating in a GREEK restaurant!!
Agree with the comment below - good Greek food and Vangelis is a good host - we ate here on our first and last nights - our neighbours in the apartments ate here most nights - food is good and plenty of it!
Another of the few GREEK places in TSILIVI, on the road in opposite Sandra's Bar. The food was great, the price also, one of the few places where a Bottle of beer is only 500 drx. We had a Family of 15 and there was NO PROBLEM They even gave fresh eggs for my Grand daughter when we popped in for a lunch time drink.
