Hello to everyone at the Bitzaro Grande.
Hi Everyone we have just returned from a FANTASTIC holiday at the Bitzaro Grande. We meet some great people while we were there and we would like to say a BIG hello and thank you to Thomas, Tommy, Jane, Nicky, Yannis and all the other staff they all work very ,very hard to make your holiday special
just to say hi to everyone....thanks so so so much for the nice words...weather is getting better...a bit cooler and breezy now....hope to see you all next year.....
This holiday was amazing. I can't explain how good it actually was. It was the 2nd time i'd been on a plane, and I didn't want to come home. Everyone who worked there was really nice. Thanks to Tassos, the gardener (if anyone knows his name let me know!) and everyone else. The hotel was excellent and I just want to go back and stay forever! Hopefully i'll come back in the future sometime. I miss the place so much, and i've only been back a day!
hi i'm leaving bitzaro grande today and can only give good comments food is fab somethin for all.... rooms lovely much better than ones we have had before... pool is lovely and big not too crowded... staff cant do enough for you.... entertainment is good room for improvement but im sure thomas wil be able to change a few things for the future... bar staff at night are great.. always smilling and making the best of ur hoilday with u. sad to be going will miss the hot weather and all the friendly peopl.
Yes men do have to wear long trousers our first week they didnt mind but now there is a sign saying u have to....GOODMORNING EVERYONE!!!
Many thanks Christina for the info, it makes life easier when there is some where to keep the Carva cool.
Hi, yes there is both a safe and a fridge in the room. However, the fridge only works when the room key is placed in the slot in the room as that switches the electricity on. There is also a small fee for renting a safe key.
Alex and I had an absolutely brilliant week at the Bitzaro Grande Hotel.
Hotel was beautiful and very clean. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
We made good use of the bar (well all the drinks were included), so we definately got our moneys worth!!!!!! Big thanks to Nickey & Tassos for their endelss supply of drinks.....................
Met some lovely people and had a great laugh. Especially during the bingo game, as we seemed to find some of the Dutch numbers extremely amusing. Oh and who can forget 'boomba boomba' for number 69 ;)
Tina, Johan & Thomas were absolutely brilliant entertainers and made the holiday an unforgettable experience. We miss them thoroughly
We would really like to go back again this summer and are looking to find a date when we're both available again.
Christina & Alex (winner of bad karaoke for 'Flashdance')

absolutely loved every minuite of it tina and thomas will be missed greatly you two were excellent great job!
We stayed here in the middle 2 weeks of August and it was excellent, this was our 4th trip to Zante and the second at this hotel, we believe you can't beat the Bitzaro Grande, so much so we are going back in October!!
The entertainment at the Bitzaro Grand may be OK if you're staying there, but its so nioisy that you can hear it clearly if you are staying at the Amaryllis next door.
We have just returned from Bitzaro Grande and had one of the most excellent holidays ever!
we stayed here at the end of May this year and had a fantastic holiday. The hotel is well maintained and very clean and run by truly wonderful people who go out of there way to help and get things right. We took my parents with us and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The food was excellent although thr dining room can get a little crowded. However, you can eat outside on the terrce and we found by going a little later we avoided the rush but still had a full choice of meals. Most of the noise was from the entertainments team, who were very good, but sometimes a bit too much when you want to relax. Maybe just a little less volume on the music would be good, if people want to hear it they can be on the bar side of the pool. We are definately going back ! !
We have just returned from the Bitzaro Grande and we have to say it was the best week of our life. We had never been abroard before and we think for ur first time it was amazing. We will struggle to find anywhere so nice and friendly. The staff were brilliant and friendly, especially Helena in Reception and Christos in the bar. The food was great and the room was lovely. Its not a very long way to the beach or the shops. We paid the Fire club a visit with nthomas and alex..... what a week, we cant wait to return. Would definatley return and reccomend to anybody.
(29may-12june)best holiday yet, been all inc. in dom rep and jamaica but grande is bees knees ab brilliant staff always pleasant, ents brill, food & drink great will be returning
My late husband and I loved the Bitzaro Grande when we stayed there, and would recommend it to anyone. The staff were more than helpful and the Hotel itself was clean tidy and very plush.
so finally i am at the ferryboat to italy and what can i say people
Stayed here July/August 2005, Limited air conditioning meant rooms were uninhabitable in the evenings, we hated returning there at the end of a day out. Food repetitive but ok, the pool surface was covered with airbeds and screaming kids most days. Sunbeds were limited either put a towel out the night before or get up early if you want one. Entertainment was poor. Luckily we stayed on a B & B basis and spent as much time away from the hotel as we could, would of hated to be all inclusive and tied to this place all day, on a high note the hotel was clean, modern, staff friendly, air conditioning policy ridiculous though in high season, we were extremely disappointed. Airport outbound was a nightmare, last trip ever to Zante for us I think.
How far is the nearist supermarket to the hotel, and is it well stocked? lily
My wife and I have just returned (Thursday the 15th Sept) from a weeks stay at the Bitzaro Grande we had a really nice stay. The Hotel is officially classed at 4 stars although we would probably give it a 3.5 star rating. The reception staff were very friendly as were the bar staff.and the 2 entertainers Thomas and Helen worked very hard. The hotel was kept spotlessly clean by the very efficient maids. The 2 minus points were the restaurants inability to serve hot food (most of the meals were warm or cold) and to my wifes annoyance the cola on offer was not proper coke but a cheap Greek offering which was of poor quality.
So nice to read the good comments for the hotel I work in, really happy to know some of you wish to visit as again…we love to see familiar faces…some of you know that already
Really sorry to read the bad comments for the hotel especially from those who didn’t spend their holiday with us…really sorry you weren’t treated right but you know we are not the only ones who deal with your reservation…I wish I could do more for that.
Big thanks for everyone that commended and those who suggested changes helping us improve!
If there is anything you might need to ask or any requests you might have please visit www.bitzarohotels.gr and do let us know!!
We had a brilliant stay here. All the reception staff are very pleasant and helpful (more so than any other place we have been). No noise at night due to passing revellers! This is due to the fact that the entrance doors to rooms face outwards, so no corridors for said characters to charge up and down. All in all, one of the best, and most enjoyable places we have ever stayed in.
Can't judge the hotel, because the "lovely" people at the Bitzaro Grande had over booked the hotel, Beware if you have a holiday booked here...it may be a very nice hotel...based on the comments here but they are obviously a bit greedy on ensuring they fill the hotel.....so if your one of the unlucky ones (like we were) you'll be scratching around for an alternaive hotel at the last minute....Thanks Bitzaro for that !!....Caveat Emptor !!
Trevor, you are a complete pillock, you are one of these professional complainers!! I have been to many countries (approx 30-40) all around the world, and . I am booked to go again for the 5th time to Zante in august 2005 and will be staying at Bitzaro all inclusive, but not eating evening meal there, as we will be visiting our restaurant in Zante town (See you soon Yiannis). The food is fantastic, the staff are fantastic including planos behind the bar, the rooms are clean, everything is great. CANT WAIT
Hi, we stayed at Bitzaro Grande 17-24 may in an apartment. It was exellent, 2 large rooms both with 2 beds, one large bathroom . A small kitchen in one of the rooms (refrigorator, micro,)
The Bitzaro Grande is by far the best hotel ive ever stayed in and hope to go back in Sept 05
to everyone at bitzaro grande happy christmas and hope you have a lovely new year lots of love laura, sue and david (room 206 past 2 years) xxxx
Suggestion for Trevor Hamilton. There is a McDonald in Laganas. The food and everything in the Bitzaro Grande was very very good, but they don't have junkfood.
We stayed at Bitzaro Grande Hotel in Sept this year 04 and had a great holiday, the rooms were cleaned every day as was the pool, the staff were friendly and food was good, wish there had been more entertainment other than bingo & quiz but it was nearing the end of the season, don't know what Trevor Hamilton expects from a holiday, maybe he just likes to complain, sorry his wife had an ear infection but i'm sure it wasn't from the pool,it was spotless, perhaps it was from hearing Trevor moan all day, will definately go back there, The low flying aircraft was not a problem at all.
My partner and I took our first holiday together to Kalamaki and booked into the Bitzaro Grande. We chose to board as B&B and it suited us well.
The breakfasts were good and had lots to offer.
The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly which added to the enjoyment of our stay. Nothing was to much trouble.
September/October seems to be a good time to visit the hotel if you are a couple.
Having passed many other apartments/hotels during our stay, I truely beleive that it is the best place to stay in Kalamaki
We stay for 10 days in this beatiful hotel from 25 sept. until 4 oct 2004. It was a very good and clean hotel and we come back again. The food and drinks were perfect. Christof from the bar was very friendly and all the other people also. We booked all-inclusive and everything was oke. Kalamaki is a nice town with a lot of bars and restaurants. The beach was great and not far (walking) from the hotel. The noise from the airplanes was not a problem for us. In the Coconut bar in Kalamaki town is also an internetcafe. A wonderful place for a nice holiday.
loved the place, hotel was very very good, always smilimg staff, barman so sweet smilimg guy, food was perfect!...will miss them till next year!
Absolutely barking Geil.......as mentioned below--good clean hotel, good staff....just the food and lack of effort about arranging things are the problem. Someone mentioned that they went with Thomas Cook. We spoke to the Thomas Cook rep and he stated that the aircon should be on all day.........so dont take no for an answer. Personally we were not going to argue because it was only 3 Euros a day(whats that...a price of a drink!!!). I would recommend this hotel if you want to go to Zante (personally been there twice...thats enough).
If it was somewhere else we would still go there but only B&B...get your food and drinks somewhere else!!!
bautiful place, loved it so much!!!! staff so helpful...loved the food! Trevor Hamilton writting below is just mad!! don't miss the place!!!!!!!!
My girlfriend and I enjoyed our two week stay very much, the food was good but we would have liked to have had more choice of fruit, the entertainment was not the best, however it was a popular meeting place for lots of people and was great to just sit and chill after a long hot day. There is plenty of entertainment, bars and restaurants just up the road in Kalamaki offering something for everyone. The staff at the hotel are great, very friendly and helpful, the barman and waiter were brill. Word of advice - if you want a umbrella by the pool you will have to beat the germans to them as they are up early putting their towels down. The rooms and pool were spotless they were cleaned daily. The air-conditioning was extremely good and much needed at times, but was only available at certain times of the day and night.
We would certainly recommend this hotel due to its very high standards and excellent location. We stayed on an all inclusive basis with Thomas Cook Travel and definately thought that we had value for money.
Dean Lewis & Amanda Russell
Holiday Dates: 1st - 15th July 2004.
First visited the hotel in july 2003 . It was so good we are going back there this year again.Watch out for the mad scots by the pool in july 2004.
As part of a party of 7 that stayed fully inclusive for a week from 27th june i have to say that this is possible the best hotel ive stayed at... EVER!!!
Food was typically greek which was ok, breakfasts had loads of choice and lunch either in the restaurant or by the bar was pretty good. The local beer is excellent if the wine isnt to your taste but the local strip in kalmaki has plenty of cheap bars with incredibly friendly hosts all with a great atmosphere.
Rooms were all really nice, we had three between us. Depending on what block you stay in will depend on how you get air con. In some parts you have to pay extra in others it came on free of charge after the 1st july between the hottest hours. When its not on, its not really needed, sleeping with the patio door open and the mossie nets up left the rooms really chilled!!!!
This is definatley a place that i will come back to time and again. Already planning for next year.
Meant to add that my wife has developed an ear infection about two days before we were due to leave. Obviously the cleaning regime on the pool is done on the cheap as well.
Just back from here in the last few days. Just a few observations {S>
Air conditioning: the hotel runs this at only certain times ie 1030 to 430 in the morning etc. WE had picked the hotel because of the Aircon. We told the Thomas Cooke rep to sort this out and it was. So....if the brochure says Air con then this is what should be on 24 hours a day. Dont take no for an answer the little cheapskates!!!
Food: To us the food in the hotel was pretty crap. The cooked breakfast was absolutely digusting...to look at and to eat. No fresh fruit or anything like that---done a bit on the cheap.
Lunch and dinner were pretty grim as well. Food lacked imagination, salads were pretty good and fresh--but you cant eat them all week. Forget the wine as it was pretty diabolical---red not too bad but you would not pick it by choice. Most dishes were flans or something similar. Meats eg pork chop cooked in the most boring of ways with no spices, herbs sauces etc.
Desserts were pretty grim----jelly for an almost entirely adult customer base. No fresh fruit only melon, melon and more melon!!!
Even mangaged to lose some weight on hoiday as I ended up skipping breakfast and then not much for dinner etc.
The rooms in this hotel are excellent, book B&B if you can as the food is naff. Even with inclusive drinks you will not want to stay in the hotel in the evenings as they dont arrange any sort of entertainment --apart from a few quizzes---whoppy do!!! Dont the Greeks know how to have a wild night!!!
Cleaners do a good job---bit stingy with the towels....they even lifted some of ours of the floor(international standard for used towels) and put them on the rails again.
Dont let the aircraft put you off,,,,not too bad and you dont really here them with the room doors closed ie another reason for aircon.
Make sure you speak to the elderly grey haired Greek bloke--this is the owner. He makes it a point to turn his head in the opposite direction if walkiing towards you!!! Forgets where he gets his income from!!!
We (me, hubby & 2 kids) stayed here from 31/5/04 for one week. It was fabulous. We were fully inclusive and had no complaints with the food. There was always a good choice and everything was worth trying. Even my fussy kids did not go hungry! Yes-the hotel is on the flight path-very close to the airport-but we did not find this at all annoying. Our room was a little small for a family room but we did have a double bed, bath, shower, TV, phone, fridge and balcony overlooking the pool. Everywhere was spotless. Our room was cleaned every day and fresh towels were in abundance. The pool was great and kid friendly - the pool side snack bar was a little disappointing and managed by the only grumpy person we met in Zakynthos! The rest of the staff in the hotel were second to none - kind, helpful, cheerful and good fun. And yes - we saw loads of turtles - it is well worth hiring a pedalo from Kalamaki beach.
We have just come back from our 11 days holiday (booked independantly) - had a wonderful time! We had an apartment being part of the Hotel. We had all the facilities of the Hotel and plenty of space for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children). The food was brilliant. An enormous choice of everything. catered for all tastes. Even our fussy children always found something of their tastes.
The people are really friendly, always smiling and very helpful.
We definetely go back again. (we had been to the Bitzare Palace 5 years ago and had a wonderful time there too, but the Bitzaro Grande is only 3 years old and had the apartments recommendable for families larger than 3). The cleanliness was superb!
Kalamaki is quiet but still plenty to go out. Laganas is close by for the party people. The airtraffic noise is restricted to certain times due to allow the turtles (which we have seen!) to come to the nest on the beach.
Just back from a week spent in the Bitzaro Grande. It was excellent in all areas as most people have mentioned. We were B&B and I thought the breakfast was unimaginative but seemed OK for most people. It seems that next year the hotel is going to be 60% all-inclusive. I dont know if this will be a bad thing or not. There are over 500 rooms in this hotel and there were only 18 occupied last week. It was very quiet that I wished I had gone at least a week earlier. I will definately go back to this hotel.
Just got back to the U.K. after staying in the Bitzaro Grande for a week. We were double booked for our original hotel and so were upgraded to the Bitzaro. Staff are pleasant and the rooms are large and clean. We liked the balcony and the pool was a good size.
We were staying b&b, which I would recommend to anyone staying at the hotel because the food and restaurant are terrible. There are lots of excellent restaurants no more than 5 minutes away.
Don't be fooled into thinking the Air Conditioning is not working(as we were)You have to pay extra to have it switched on. Room safes are 10 euros a week and there is a 2% commission when you change travellers cheques.
Perhaps the strangest/novel/entertaining/annoying thing about the hotel is the fact that it is right on the flight path into the airport. For the first couple of days it's fun to stand on the balcony and wave at the passengers in the planes. After a little while though it does get a bit annoying getting woken up at 5 a.m. each morning as the first flights start.
Overall though we both liked the hotel. I would recommened it, but take your ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
We have just returned from the Bitzaro Grand 21st Sept. The hotel is clean and the staff are very nice. But the food is diabolical we ate breakfast in the Grande for five days and could not eat it any longer it consisted of cold beans cold eggs, toast and the most disgusting sausage. Our evening meal was taken at the Palace next door this was no better.Soup for starter everyday then salad then a main course most of the time it was a stew of some form. The sweet everynight was grapes watermelon and a small slice of cake or jelly.Four of us paid for half board and after five days we had to pay to eat out.Go s/c.
The Bitzaro Grande hotel is excellent! We booked direct with the hotel and found our own separate flights which made the holiday a lot cheaper! The hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the beach and you can easily reach both Kalamki and Laganas. The pool is especially nice; large and clean with a nice snack bar and large free sun loungers. The rooms are spacious, clean and have everythng ou could want. Although most brochures don't say, they do actually offer rooms on a B+B basis, HB and self catering studios and apartments. We had a studio but also had breakfast included so e had the best of both worlds! The breakfast is full English and is actually very good. Make sure you request a room overlooking the pool, as some rooms overlook the front road and the view is not too good. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel as the best I have ever stayed in on any Greek island.
This is the best hotel in Kalamaki for sure! My boyfriend and I just got back yesterday (31st Aug) and we already want to go back. The hotel was exceptionally clean, the staff were friendly and polite, the pool area was clean and safe for children and we got a double bed!!! It was quiet, yet just a five minute walk to the shops. I have nothing but praise for this hotel and will be definately recommending it to everyone. I'll be going back again.
This has to be the best hotel in Kalamaki! The pool area was excellent. Cleanliness and functionality were superb in all rooms and the staff would do anything to help you. Location was superb, close enough to the beach and the shopping area and also nearer to the better eating houses. It was superbly quiet and relaxing. Just the place to chill out.
we stay`d here for two weeks from 1st june till 15th. the rooms were lovely, and the pool area was brilliant. the location was realy good, you didnt have to walk for miles to get to the supermarket, beach or the restaurants. the staff were realy friendly, a big hello to tasos and christina. we are coming back 30th may so see you then. love laura, sue and david. to tasos, hope your still using your mozzy repelant and thankyou for taking us to see the turtles. one more thing- DO YA?
this place is the best.very clean, excellant furnishings, good buffet breakfast.good position for beach.excellant pool and facilities.free postcards too!!!!!
We got lucky last year and booked a last minute holiday with Thomson and stayed here - I would say it's the best resort hotel so far in Zante! We have just found out that you can go here with Portland Direct and will be going back this year - I'm off to find the number now ...
This hotel was a wonderfull new hotel. We stayed her for 2 weeks. The swimmingpool was excellent and the rooms were also very good. The staff was very friendly. We had a wonderfull time.
My mother and I stay for two weeks at Bitzaro Grande,we had a wonderfull time there. It's a very nice new hotel,we found everything beautifull, the rooms, swimming pool, the outside by the hotel and something more. The people are very friendly and help full, they work very hard to make you stay complete. Greetings to,Maria,Georgia,Sophia,Wooly, and the boys from the hotel I don't know their name, and all others from the staf. Sure we come back. Maria and Marja from Holland
