Just been reading some of comments.  To the person concerned about the Earth/Quakes & tremors that were going on for about 3 weeks.  Good news, it has all calmed down.  Yes agree the quakes very frighting, tremors can cope with.  But Zakynthos is on a fault line so they are common,  just not always big.  Remember the Island was practically rebuilt after 1953 quake and buildings constructed to resist.  But like everything in life there is always risk.  Just go and enjoy your holiday this Month, bet you won't even think about it once there, it's a fantastic Island.

Hi Marie we always go in May and have had great tans when we leave.Sometimes a few clouds but still great.Take a hoody or light jacket for night as can get a bit cold if you dont have enough drink in you.

We have been to Zante 5 times (3 of those were in May) and going again this May.  The evenings can feel a bit on the cool side (once you get over 21)!!! So I would recommend that you take a light jacket for the evenings.

Zante is the best holiday place you could wish to got to. it is absolute paradise!!  The Greeks love the children and it is very cheap over there!! In Zante the sunbeds are about 3 euro but i went to Menorca in October2005 and the sunbeds there were 7 euro 50 per sunbed!!! (DONT GO 2 MENORCA!!)  In Zante you can gurantee that the weather is sunny all year round. ive been 5 times now. Zante is perfect for families. The Caretta Beach Hotel in Kalamaki is the BEST hotel ever!!!

 Hi all, we went to Zante in May this year the weather was fantastic, temps of up to 34 degrees it only rained on one night it did not last long, and we walked in Tsilivi in the rain for dinner it was lovely and umbrellas are really cheap too! I am definately going back next year in May as ive heard that the summer months are too hot to handle!!

Am going to Tsilivi next month and wondered if anyone knew what the weather is like in Sept and also has anyone done any diving in Zante??? Would like to go horse riding too?? please let me know if you know of anywhere I could try.  Thanks for you help. Mel x

Thanks for the sypathy sonia!!! No, i'm sure she's going to be fine it's just that i know what the greek boys can be like (and what i was like!). I guess next year i'll be going alone as she'll be off with her mates........oh well.

I went from the 16th May until the 23rd of May and it was perfect. The weather was v hot, most days 26 C. I dont think I would like to go any later than May. Peak season would probably be too busy for me, and the airport wasn't that big. However, they are building another terminal to ease things! If I didnt go in May I would probably go in September.

I'm out there on my own for 2 weeks from 2nd June.  I usually go with my teenage daughter but now she's 18 she's going to Alikanas in August with her boyfriend.  We never really had any trouble but then she never really left my side too much.  Depending what your daughter is like, you may need to keep a tight hold!!!!

Yeah, weather is always good but it did get a bit windy last year. Is there anyone out there who will be staying in alikanas from the 31st may? I'm a 35 year old guy taking his 15 year old daughter for a week. Half looking forward to it, half dreading it .....if you know what i mean!

Gemma,we went to zante last may and the year the before both times the weather was fantastic.Its a lovley place with lots to see and do .you will have a lovley time .And everyone that i know who has been has never had a bad word to say about the place.have fun.We are going back next year.

My husband and I visited Zante (Tsilivi) 2 years ago in May, we arrived the first week of the new season and had the most fantastic time.  We ate out every night and never had one bad experience, the food was fantastic, the people very friendly.  We are returning this year on the 1st May to the same Hotel right on the beach we loved it so much.

We are flying out to Zante on 08/05/05. Staying at Alykanas. Anyone know local car hire prices or where I can download a free map of the locality please?

We stayed for one week from the 23rd May and timed it perfectly. The start of the week was nice and quiet, weather was hot and sunny but always with a good breeze, easy to get a sunbed by the pool etc. Started filling up after the Thursday influx of Brits and it sounds like it keeps filling up from then on throughout the summer.

We went to Zakynthos between 16th and 23rd of May. 1st day was cloudy and windy but the rest of the week was lovely. Sunny every day, it stayed at around 23 - 24 celcius all day which I think is just perfect, not too hot, not too cold.

WENT TO KALAMAKI 6th TO 20th MAY.FIRST DAY GOT SUN BURN AND IT WAS CLOUDY.HAD A COUPLE OF CLOUDY DAYS BUT STILL WAS HOT.THE NIGHTS GOT QUITE COLD NEEDED A JACKET SOME NIGHTS.IS THE WEATHER GOOD END OF SEPTEMBER OR EARLY OCTOBER IN KALAMAKI.

Just got back from Zante (May) and also went in October last year. Both times were good but we prefer May time as all the shops and bars were opening and everything was clean and the sun was out for longer. October was ok, had 4 days of sun and a mild storm on the last day - went on the beach to 'feel' it! May is better as it's warm, still cool at night like October, but according to the locals a cold night means a hot day! They were right aswell. When we book up again we'll go for May - later in the year will be too hot and too packed for us.

There between 6th and 20th May. It was cloudy when we got there on Thursday afternoon, Friday morning, most of Sunday, all of the following Sunday and most of the Monday but when the sun was out it was hot. Really needed a jacket or cardigan and long skirt or trousers in the evenings as it was very chilly. Unfortunately we couldn't get to Shipwreck Cove on a boat trip as the sea was too rough and the coastguard turned us back when we got to the Blue Caves so that was a bit disappointing. We had seen it from the land viewpoint the day before but that's not something for the fainthearted!

Me and Natalie went to Laganas 14th may till 21st may stayed at the Hotel Alexander,we enjoyed ourselves while there met philly,gary and the lads on the stag week,they made the holiday a lot of fun!! Very hot in may,if you go visit the main strip in Laganas!!

Flying out to Zante on Friday 14th, was so excited as I love Greece but never been to Zante........Rhodes has always been red hot this time but looking at temperaturs for Zante Im getting a bit worried that the weather won't be that great and I'll be going home pale when usually Im very dark..........Not sure where staying yet as Allocation on arrival, hope it's somewhere nice. Anyone else know if weather will be good as sometimes the temperatures they give are a lot lower than they actually are. I wasn't planning on taking jumpers anyway!

my partner and i went to laganas last may.We loved it so much we decided to go back and get married their.Last yr the weather was really nice in the last 2 wks of may(25 degrees+).Its very clean ,lots of bars down the main strip,and places to eat.Beach is very clean,if you are staying any where at the top of the strip it is about a 10 min walk to the beach.if you go on the boats that show you the island do the half day 1 as all you see is cliffs and its a very long day if you do the full one.lots to do and people very friendly.hope this helps anyone.we will be their from the 18th til 2nd of june.maybe see some of you their.

We always visit Laganas in early May. The weather is usually fantastic (have known a little rain - mostly during the night, but not for long!) and it is very warm. We always get a good tan! As it is the start of the season, everywhere is nice and clean, and you get a good welcome from the locals. Best to take a fleece/jumper as some evenings can be a little chilly (especially sitting in the bars by the sea, which we do often). If you go in May, you usually beat the lager louts who arrive towards the end of May.

My husband and I are going to Laganas on 6th may for two weeks and when we went to Corfu for the same two weeks in 2003 the weather was absolutely fantastic during the day but it got a little chilly in the evenings so we were glad we took our fleeces. Was it the same in Zante?

Beck Ryan ... it clicked off before I could finish my message!! I went for the first time last May and saw three turtles it was amazing .. DONT take one of the glass bottomed boat tours they harm the turtles by getting up too close and stressing them out also dont use a pedalo as they totally freak them out and they end up diving and getting too tired! I went on a tour organised by Dionisos tours and they have an English guide called Graham ask for that trip and it sooo worth the money, you get a chance to berth behind Marothonisi (Turtle) Island and jump off the boat for a swim and then they take you to Limni for food in the taverna there! ALL for 15 Euros!!! DONT TAKE ANY OTHER TOUR AS THEY HARM THE TURTLES and NO I'm not getting commission for this :)

paula you wont be disappointed you will have the time of your life a couple of must do resturants are georgios a 10 minute walk along the kalamaki road and also the acropolis resturant which is a right turn at the cross roads along the main strip a 10 min stroll up into the hills as for bars the bar la bamba down by the beach on the right serve the best cocktails on the island try to stay clear of the main large disco bars the drinks are a rip off not always what they seem

Have booked a week in Argassi in May '04, what's the resort like this early in the year and where are the best places to eat out please?

we were in Argassi last May and it was quite hot in the 80s just right for us, we went back last October and the weather was a bit 'hit and miss' so we are going back this May as its more settled I will post some pix so you can see for yourself !!

there are loads of pubs,clubs and restuarants in laganas also lots of nights out like the sunset and greek night at campi but for the best value greek night try the Target restaurant in Argassi on tuesadays and thursdays they have a barbeque it costs 12 euros per head for a 3 course meal and as much wine as you can drink all night.also they have traditional greek dancing all evening and by the end of the night they will have everybody up dancing.you must take a camera as the sunset is unbeleivable.its located up the mountain above the commador hotel and you go into the reception and ask they phone the restaurant to send someone down to drive you up and bring you back down at the end of the night all included in the price FANTASTIC!!!

Hi, Was just looking for a wee bit of advice. My fiance and I are heading out to Zante on 2nd May 04 for two weeks. It will be our first time visiting and infact the first time we have been abroad together. Can anyone tell me what to expect from the Ikaros hotel, Laganas and if there are any good restaurants/pubs or daytrips we dont want to miss out on? Hi, I went to Laganas in May 1999 and we had a fantastic time, me and my mate are going back on the 24th May 2004 stayin at the Canadian Apartments, does any1 know what these Apartments are like, and what are the best bars and clubs to go in now, cause when I last went it was Rescues

We stayed in Amoudi at the Achillion Studios. The weather was FANTASTIC - 100 degrees each day!!! Definitly going again.

Had to book my holidays early this year due to work commitments so we were a little worried we miss out, I needn't of worried! We went from 1st May - 15th May and on the day we arrived we had the whole pool at our hotel to ourselves as there was only 2 other couples staying there with us. It was much hotter than we expected as the internet report said it was due to be 20-25 degrees but we were getting 35 nearly every day. It was really quiet the first week as a lot of the restaurants were just beginnig to open for the season but it was just what we were after. I would deffinatly recommend this time of year for anyone wantin to get away from it all.

Great time to go. Nice and hot during the day (30 deg +) but cool enough at night to have a good nights sleep. Tsivili beach was fairly quiet, as were most restaurants and bars - no queing anywhere - except at the airport to come home!!

We found this is the best time to travel. we arrived on the 15th may and the temperature was much hotter than we were expecting, high 90's most days not that we were complaining as we had checked the internet before we went and it said it was low 20's and cloudy,we never had cloud one day.Also the resort was nice and quiet you managed to get a sun bed with out getting up the at crack of dawn and we only got charged twice for them.I would highly recommend going in low season.
