Hi Shortie Julie and Andy
Hi Jules and Shortie
we had two weeks in Akanas, sampling all of the restaurants, we left Cosy Corner until we had tried all of the greek restaurants. I had fish and chips with mushy peas one night, and their Pork leek and cider pie another night. The full english breakfasts won the Zante best breakfast award, not something I give out lightly. All of the food is preared and sourced locally. Although I love cats, I don't think a restaurant is the best place to have them hanging around
Thanks to Karen & Paul for all the good years they have put into making the Cosy Corner what is has become.
Well were do we start, this is Paul & Karen from the Cosy Corner in Alykanas, we have decided to hang up our boots at last, some people might say thank goodness, we have been serving the holiday makers on Zakynthos for the last twenty four years and our bodys are starting to tell us it is time to take things a bit slower, we started life in Lagana as the Copper kettle, we did five years in Lagana, then off to Tsilivi for fifteen years as the Copercabana, and the last four years in Alykanas as the Cosy corner, we have ejoyed looking after you all, i know that you cant please every body but if we have pleased some of you over the years then it has been worth it, thank you all very much for your support, and friendship. God bless you all and please keap in touch our E-mail address is prandell@otenet.gr
Karen and Paul now have son Mark back in the fold, we have known this family for 16 years and can say that their food (try Sunday night if you can get in) is cooked with love and care.
Our joint favourite - with Romanza - Daily specials always a treat - good food, good wine and good company.
Quite a nice little restaurant friendly and very polite food was also very good
wE HAVE JUST COME BACK FROM ALYKANAS AND ATE AT THE COSY CORNER THE FOOD WAS HOMELY AND VERY NICE EXCELLANT SERVICE . |
Hi Paul Karen Mark and Lyne
Sorry, didnt alter the markings, they are all excellent.
Just come home from a fantastic holiday in Alykanas topped off with great meals at Cosy Corner, The owners were very friendly and the setting very romantic. The menu was nicely varied and the food really tasty. The owner recommended a nice wine to have with our meal and he really came up trumps.
Hi Caroline, if you want good food and company its the Cosy Corner if you want good food and things for the kids try the Mantelena they have a kids swing park. As for mozzys i didnt have a problem, john did but not as much as last year when he gassed everyone out with his mozzy spray!!!!!!!!!!! Just take loads of mozzy plug ins and keep patio doors closed at night and air con on.
going to alykanas village in july 2006, can you tell me has anyone had problems with mosquitoes out there. Also i am taking my 10 year old son, where would you recommend we can go to eat/drink in the evening to keep him occupied also.
there is something wrong with this points thing- we ticked we liked it and it came up ok...we more than like it we loved it!!
Agree totally with positives- Paul is the brother of an ex work colleague of mine and I wont hear a bad word said about him or his other half or the staff or food....100% spot on- great food, company and location- just down the road from the ABV....if there are any negatives it has to be that they are too kind and need to move people on after they have dined to let more in because they are great socialisers and make you welcome..a home from home..visit them soon
had a great meal here, cant understand all the negative post's.
just got back from alykanas, ate twice at the cosy corner, sunday dinner outstanding, people so nice and clean[just replieing to some of the comments about hygine]?.cannot understand comments like this, so rude,my advice would be to try it yourself ,i dont think you will be dissapointed,we were not
This is a lovely restaurant and the name cosy corner suits it to a t! We only discovered this towards the end of our stay because its not on the main road. My partner had Alykanas chicken, which was lovely, I had a greek salad with so many olives I lost count. My daughter had sausage and chips, which were chips and not fries.
when i was on holiday with my best friend and his family it was my birthday and they organized a party at the cosy corner and i was like great because i love the food there then they brought a cake out for me it was the errmmmm......... words cant describe how nice it was it was the best reastrant in zante .hope to come back next year thanks.
Well some people obviously like it here, but I can't see why - compared to other tavernas in Alykanas this is below average. Service is very good, can't fault that aspect at all and the price is OK but the food is disappointing, not as good quality or as authentic as other places that you can eat within the resort. Went once last year and tried it again this year but no improvement, the food just lacks something compared to the other tavernas.
We went there last september and it was fantastic we had a great meal and we felt like we where at home well thats how they made us feel so i would recomend it to anyone to go there and try it you wont be disapointed if you dont go well your loss really i was there 14 days and went in most days for my food and try the pate its wondurfull see you all next year
We had a wonderful time in Alykanas this last summer, it was a lovely resort to stay. by far the best eating place was the Cosy corner, First of all the food was fantastic, Karen is the chef i wanted to take her home with me but her husband said NO, there was a lovely girl called Mira very sweet and very helful. and then there was Lyn what a nice girl and very helpful to, and then ther was that husband his name is Paul, very friendly and a good lough, except he would not let me bring his wife back with me. All in all the food the staff and the owners are wonderful, and the sorroundings are beautiful. we will return and return again and again, thats a promise.
COSY CORNER WAS EXCELLENT, GOOD FOOD, GREAT HOSTS AND GOOD PRICES. WE WERE PART OF A VERY BIG PARTY THAT WENT TO ZANTE FOR MY WEDDING INCLUDING MY VERY ELDERLY GRANDPARENTS, WHO ATE IN THE COSY CORNER EVERY NIGHT AND LOVED THE FOOD, MY HUSBAND AND I ALSO HAD QUITE AFEW FAB MEALS IN THERE. SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR.
the cosy corner serves great food good service and very pleasant staff paul karen and mira and on a wed and sunday lynn all very good food exellent have been to the cosy corner for two years now and have yet to disapointed keep up the good work all see you next year
I also am amazed at some of the comments. I dont know if they have changed hands recentely but we had several meals here and couldnt fault any of them. I didnt see cutlerey under armpits or sweaty waiters, just a very pleasant couple from Liecester with an also very pleasant greek girl. It was a relaxing change from the blaring music we got at some of the places. It was a very nice Cosy Corner.
Surely we are not talking about the same restaurant here, reading the other people's comments below. We had breakfast at the Cosy Corner and it was excellent, certainly not dripping in fat. We also ate here a few nights too and on one occassion I fancied scampi and chips which again were not dripping in fat. My husband and 10 year old son had the Ionian meat pie which was excellent (served with vegetables and gravy, made such a change from rice etc which you get with all other Greek meals). On another night we had one of the specials which was Chicken Stifado, and for once in Greece, the chicken was not on the bone, it was pure chicken and it was the best meal we had on this holiday. The chicken and ham pie (a special on a Saturday night) was excellent too. We have been visiting the Greek Islands for 14 years and very rarely eat English food, and the English dishes served at the Cosy Corner were very good indeed. The location was just fantastic, off the main road. It was so much nicer eating our dinner in a beautiful location and not with smelly horse and carts, noisy motorbikes and cars with the music at full blast roaring past whilst you are eating. We loved you Cosy Corner and your food is excellent!!! Love Trevor, Michelle and Albert xx
EXCELLENT. went everyday for brunch and we had a meal there 1 nigh and it was nice. people are spot on, service is fine and food was fine so only good things from me.
Dave
i hated it here. there food was all fatty and deep fried.
dont the owners take showers they are all sweaty and they carry the knife and forks under there airpits, and people going to zakynthos dont go to cosy corner it aint fit to serve food and it is soo unhigentic.
one thing...do the staff memebers have showers?
do us a favour and dont carry the cutlery under ur armpits when u smell of B.O.
ironically...theres a shower just outside the door!
despite the smell...and the scarily thin cats..the sundy roast is soooo nice! yet nothing beats the greedy greek! lol
Unfortunately we didn't get chance to visit Cosy Corner. However, we did look at the menu. They do lots of English meals as well as Greek ones. They also do a Sunday roast. We liked to have tried it if we had stayed longer
Yes you are right , one of the party was terminally ill but has been for 11 years , her illness did not spoil anyones holiday thanks , just that meal on that one night made her ill. The rest of the party were not impressed either and they were not terminally ill.
we were sat at the next table to that welsh fellow, there was a party of six and one of the party was termanilly ill very sad but it made for a poor holiday for the party. we had a verry good meal and a very nice evening, the food was excellent, the suroundings were lovely aqnd we returned again and again the beef stifado and the lamb kleftiko were fantastic. we will return next year and our first port of call will be the cosy corner. keep up the good work.
We had filled rolls from here one lunch time which were very nice.
We decided to try an evening meal. Big mistake! Should call this "The Greasy Spoon" Everything that was deep fried ( chips , scampi etc.) was absolutely swimming with grease. Their deep fat fryers were way overdue for an oil change! One of our party was quite ill after eating here, no wonder the filled rolls were nice , can't deep fry salad. Don't know if they were having off day or what but regarding other comments here they must have. Avoid at all cost!
A lovely place. Friendly owners, great food and a lovely place to relax in the evenings. Try the cheesecake!
What a wonderful addition to the Alikanas restaurant scene! VERY friendly owners, and excellent food. DO TRY the pate.
paul karen and mark from copacabana have moved to alykanas in the noth
when you come from tsillivi to alykanas and alykes turn right at jammin bar past letsos hotel down bottom of road next to bonkers bar you will find the best taverna on the island COSY CORNER
Well... the Copacabana has moved!
We have just spent a wonderful week in Alykanas staying in the Venus Studio Apartments which are situated about 10ft from Cosy Corner (new location, new name).
Cosy Corner is fantastic, we can certainly attribute a good percentage of our enjoyable holiday experience to the hospitality and experience of the Cosy Corner Taverna.
During our stay in Alykanas, we ventured to several Taverna's and Bars for the sake of variety, but of all the places we visited, none came close to the great food and hospitality to which Karen and Paul plentifully served.
As an English couple, they boast the remarkable achievement of having Greek customers dining regularly at their tables!
Whether you want to eat English or Greek, Breakfast Lunch or Dinner, Cosy Corner will satisfy your tastes. Whether you want a quick drink or a long drink, whether you want to quietly sit in the corner alone or enjoy an entertaining conversation with the pleasant accomodating proprietors, Cosy Corner is a great place to spend a little (or a lot of) time.
To sum up, if you don't like Cosy Corner, there's either something very wrong with you, or you're the proprieter of a competing Taverna or Bar!
At this restaurant we had our best meals on the island we were made very welcome,if you want to rush your meal then don't go here.you can stay as long as you like and the service is friendly and hospitable,I found the beef stifado very tasty but in the extreme heat very uncomfortable!!,we were in tsilivi for two weeks and ate here for five out of the last seven days after sampling other eateries in the resort.Very happy.
The English Couple that run this resturant are very friendly & made sure my "veggie" daughter did not go hungry, the food is great & fills the plate. We never had to wait for a table for very long & we were there in july/aug.We ate there 3 times & all the meals were excellent. It gets busy about 8 0-clock so get there early!
average meal in an average restaurant, the sevice was a bit on the slow side, the portion of stifado, poor.
Just come back from Tsilivi. spent a fortnight eating out everyday, and have got to say that by far the best was the Copacabana, even the teenage kids agreed. Run by an English couple who make you very welcome, the food was excellent, best Steak in town. They even do a great Fish & Chips, just like at home. Service was good and friedly and it didn't take all night to get served, unlike a lot of others we tried. Thoroughly recommended. We will definately be going back when we return to Zante.
This is a small, friendly, family-run taverna serving good home-cooked wholesome food from a very varied menu, including local Greek recipes. There is something to suit all tastes and you will not leave here feeling hungry as the portions are big enough to fill even Desperate Dan (although no cow pie is available!) The atmosphere is relaxed and homely and a warm welcome is always forthcoming from the proprietors. Well worth a visit.
This is a place to avoid, there are many very good restaurants and bars in Tsilivi but unfortunately this isn't one of them. We went in the early evening when it wasn't very busy, by the time we left it was heaving but that was only because the service was so slow there was a backlog of people waiting for their food/drinks/plates to be cleared/bills etc. There were two people who looked like they should be waiting at tables although only one seemed to be doing anything at any one time (and that was at snails pace!) and at one point one of them went and sat at the bar not doing a thing whilst customers were waiting for service. The food was also pretty average. If you've come from the Alexandra Beach Hotel or the Caravel Hotel then keep walking and find somewhere better, they're not far away. However, if it's a snack you want just nip into Kaliva, a bar on the corner just opposite the Caravel Hotel, and they do great food with excellent service and a very relaxed atmosphere.
This little taverna is run by an english family they make you feel very welcome. The lady makes excellent bacon rolls and a great cup of tea for that hangover.Situated 2 minutes from the beach it's pretty hard to resist from going in.
