Excellent resort, very busy in August when we were there. Lots of very good restaurants, didn't have a bad meal the whole fortnight (Ate at the Green Frog three times)! The only thing we didn't like was the way they hassled you to get you into the restaurants, hounding you as you walked past! Stop trying too hard!! (We re-named it the rat run on the way down from the Admirals). Plenty of bars to choose from - Hi to Ken & Jude & Co at the Oasis (Ken's a mad Brummi!) Plenty of shops. Must mention the cars/bikes if you have kids. Turn left at the magic mushroom heading towards Zante Town, its down there on the left. Motorised quad bikes etc 4euros for 20 mins, we ended up a regular here! Beach is not much cop, but we hired a car and went to Lagana, Kalamaki and St. Nikolas beaches which were all very nice! Overall a lovely resort, more suited to families!
Just spent 14 days in Argassi with my girlfriend. Very nice resort, mainly aimed at couples and families which suited us. Plenty of excellent restaurants and the prices were much better than over here. Nightlife was fairly lively with most bars open till 3 am giving plenty of drinking time! Beach isn't up to much but I'd recommend getting a car/moped and exploring the rest of the island.
My sister and I spent two weeks in Commodore Apartments at the beginning of August 2002. The apartment was always clean and the locals friendly. We had an absolutely excellent day on the Zak-Fari, a Jeep safari around the island of Zante with a brilliant guide. The only complaints were the lack of decent nightlife and the fan hire system at the apart-hotels. Hot weather and lots of trips if that's what you wanted to do. Beware of the 'turf war' when leaving towels out all night to book sunloungers. More than one ended up in the pool overnight. Very friendly barman at the Commodore and the 24 hour pancake place was fab!
My wife and I have just come back from Argassi where we stayed at the Hotel Iliessa Beach. Very clean and well maintained. We were very well looked after - stress free, no booking sun beds. Kostas in the Snack Bar keeps everyone amused even on the odd wet day. Resort very clean - everyone very friendly and polite. Plenty of nice places to eat - no hassle, there is no pressure on you being dragged in to restaurants - our favourites were Erato and Premier. Most places have mixture of traditional Greek food, fish, and pastas, chichen, steaks, etc. Favourite bars - Red Lion (especially on Thursday when Elvis is in), The Wreck (Bar dancing on Friday) and Tropicana for selection of cocktails. Spectacular view from Target Tavern right at the top of the hill - (good tip to take the free mini bus at night & save your legs). All in all a great peaceful holiday - very relaxing - we'll probably be going back.
argassi is a lively place in the evenings.I am 12 and was not allowed out on my own in the evenings but if you were 2 0r 3 years older you would be fine as there are plwnty of clubs to enjoy such as the factory club.I would recommend the 24hoursnack bar as it serves pancakes, waffles, milkshakes and loads of other nice food.Do not make a special visist to the beech nothing to special.Email me cheakylittledevil@hotmail.com if you have any questions.
I am 10 years old and I spent 2 weeks in Argassi. I liked the cinema best because it showed all the latest films for free. I also liked the mini cars and and the crazy golf. Me and my family went to a resterant called Zorbas, for a drink. It hade a wonderful kids play area! But one night they said we can't go in because we were only having drinks!!! Don't go there! It WOULD SERVE THEM RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Resort was excellent. Plenty of restaurants and bars, and not over crowded. Food was good, particularly Aphrodite, Carisimo & Zorbas. People friendly. International drinks were around the same price as UK - £2 to £2.50 a time, but local drinks were much cheaper. I will definately be returning.
Well the best description would be a not very nice piece of the north of england in a hot country! Did not find any nice food anywhere all week. The bars are very expensive (£2/3 per bottle). We didnt go to the beach because there wasnt one really! Would only go back if it was a free holiday.
The local beach is not the best in the world, but we still managed to enjoy ourselves there. The shopping was good, nice cheap prices and lots of gift shops, but they do sell very similar stuff. It was peaceful enough during the day and livened up during the nightime. Plenty of bars to visit, which serve excellent cocktails. There is a wide choice of restaurants to visit both during the day for lunch and for an evening meal. I went with my girlfriend and we found the atmosphere to be excellent. There were several families around, but there was also a lot of couples, which suited us both. Overall a fantastic holiday, would recommend this resort to couples especially.
Need information about the Porto Lliesa Appts. Stayed there two years ago and wish to stay there again, because the staff and owners treated us like family and we had a great holiday. How do we book without going through a travel agent?
We have just returned from a fortnights holiday here & we thought it was just right for a family with fairly young children The greeks were very friendly & helpful. Plenty of shops, restaurants & bars around. Not the place if you just want a beach holiday as it is very narrow, but our kids preferred the pool anyway.
has anyone stayed at the krinas apts in argassi weve seen mixed opinions about it. we are expecting it to be basic but clean
I had slight reservations before I went on holiday to Argassi, simply because of some of the reviews I had read on that resort. But what can I say...they were wrong! This is a fun resort on a gorgeous island. I chose Argassi as it didn't seem so 'in ya face' as Laganas, and it turned out to be just right. There are just the right amount of bars/clubs and plenty of places to eat (I would recommend 'Piccadilly'). Lively or quite night, either is possible here. There are also lots of shops selling gifts etc...all are worth a look. There isn't much beach in Argassi unless your hotel has its own, but if like me a beach isn't the be all and end all of a holiday then don't be afraid to explore other parts of the island to find better beaches. Kaminia beach is very nice and quite and situated about 3miles right of the resort or Kalimaki a short ride away on bikes. One more thing I would recommend is one of the boat trips around the island - I went on the Dias Tours boat and it was lovely. The boat was very comfortable and our enjoyment was their first priority. Try it!
my boyfriend and I visited Argassi in July 2000. We found the Hotel Locanda excellent the staff were friendly and the beach was clean and inviting. The restaurants were good and we had lovely meals in The Big Plate. Argassi is a really good resort for a family holiday.
If you enjoy the Greek experience then this is NOT the place for you. We visited Argassi 13 years ago and had a fantastic holiday. We returned in 2000 and it was like Blackpool in the sun. English pubs , lager louts , neon lights noisy bars, people queuing for Sunday roast and Chinese. For God sake this is your two weeks of the year in Greece , GO GREEK (not in Argassi) . Get over to Kefalonia and see what a real Greek experience is.
ME AND MY BOYFRIEND WENT TO ARGASSI IN MAY 2001 WITH KOSMAR HOLIDAYS. THERE WAS PLENTY OF THINGS TO DO IN THE DAY AND AT NIGHT, AND IT WAS ROASTING. WE FOUND THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND THE BARS WERE NOT TO CROWDED, ALL THE LOCALS ARE REALLY FRIENDLY. BUT IF YOU GO YOU HAVE TO VISIT THE SHIPWRECK AND GO OVER TO KEFELONIA FOR THE DAY TO SEE THE UNDERGRIUND LAKE......IT'S AMAZING!!
Stayed at the Family Inn in Argassi August 2001. The weather was wonderful, the food was delicious put on 1/2 stone in a week.Toured the island with a local guide (Thomsons) called David who was very imformative and gave us a true insight into the island.Returning again in 2002 but staying in Laganas
A bit Blackpool(no disrespect)but plenty of bars and restaurants, beach disapointing, everything very compact.
windmill studios find on list
We stayed at the Commodore appartments, so we were lucky, as we were just up the hill, so we were away from the real nightlife and noise, but we didn't have to go far to reach it. An ideal location really as we could choose if we wanted a wild or a quiet night. I would definitely recommend Argassi if you want the choice. However, if you want permenant nightlife, go to Laganas, and if you want quiet, go to Kalamaki. Emma Wood, 14 yrs
I stayed in argassi for two weeks, it was the best holiday i have ever had. The people were so friendly and helpful! There are so many places to eat and drink it is unbelievable! I would definatly go back without a doubt!
Carly i'm a shopaholic too. shops are pretty good but very sameish ie same sort of ornaments sarongs etc.. there are a couple of good ones though and make sure you venture from end to end as prices and quality do vary we found the best value and nicest quality material sarongs were in a shop just past the kiddy motorcar/bike ride around on the road to zak. town they were 2000 dcms there and the material is gorgeous hope you have a lovely time we did shaz. ps watch out for peter (owner of tiffany's restaurant !!!)
I am 11 years old and my mum is a SHOPAHOLIC!! If ther is anyone who is like my mum could you tell me how good (or bad) the shops are in Argassi?
Stayed in Argassi for 2wks, and im doing it again next year! Drove all around the island and i think Argassi was definately the place to be. Something for everyone just describes it really. Beach was lovely, people were SO friendly, you couldn't ask for anything more. Beer can be a bit expensive in some places "look for the happy-hour".... Have a good time if your going here..... SEE YA ALL NEXT SUMMER ... vicki x
Argassi has something for everyone in all age groups. Very family orientated during the evening but later at night things hot up. The beach is not perfect but is quiet. Could do with a clean up as it is very thin and litter tends to build up. Overall a very enjoyable place with easy access to Zante Town and lovely beaches around the South side of the Island.
