Nigel B

Just got back from the Admiral Apts. Excellent staff there. Hi Nicky, Sam, Paul. If you're staying there tell them Mr Bean says hello.

Fiona H

Unfortunately we found Argassi to be a rather distasteful resort. It is dirty and quite frankly a tacky resort with the usual banal bars and activities. The only saving grace of Argassi is it's close proximity to Zante captial town. There is no beach to speak off and what beach area exists is filty. Visitors should be prepared to either hire a bicylcle to go to Vasilikos or Kalamaki where the nearest beaches are. However we'd recommend hiring a car and leaving Argassi behind and only use it as base. Tacky horrible resort. Would never return!

Ella C

My self and my partner came back from Argassi last night. We stayed in the Admrial. The hotel it self was really clean and the receptionists there were all so friendly and helpful. Most nights we would venture out, be warned to get hassled by every restaurant owner, they are all very nice but want you to eat in their restaurant every night!! One person who was very funny was Peter from Tiffanys- such a character!
We found a bar with a pool called Domiterios which was situated right on the beach, Lorenzo the bar man was great.Free pool table, free vollyball free use of pool, the only thing you paid for was the sun beds at 2 euros each which was nothing if you were there all day- oh and the ocasional drink or three!!!!!
About the trips that the reps sell you- well we went on the keri caves boat trip and it was okay but we didn't see any turtles as promised!!
The water park was great, not as big as we thought it would be but still a good day out!
Even though the beach was not much, there was some great pool bars right next to the sea, and we totally recommend St Nicholas beach in which you can catch a free bus to from outside a pub along the main strip at 10:30am and will pick you up about 5pm-loads to do there things from diving to banana boats which fly!!
We were there for two weeks and didn't get restless once, the weather was fantastic for the time of year and we couldn't fault it.

All i can say now is Thankyou to the staff at the hotel you guys/girlies where great!! Ella and Mike Room 311 Admiral Appartments!! xx

:-)

i am going to Argassi on the 26th Sept anyone know what weather will be like, i hope its hot!!also whats it like driving over there.

Liz B

We loved all of Zakynthos, including Argassi. However, if you can get the miserable receptionist at the Diana Palace to smile, then you are braver than us! Peter at Manfredas Tours is brilliant and wont rip you off (he wont sell you a tour if he thinks it is bad value). Do the round the island boat trip (give our love to Costas!) and one of the glass bottomed boats - we really did see a turtle who surfaced right by our boat. Try and visit Porto Vromi and the Blue Caves by small boat. Artemis Bar is good as are the cocktails in Avalon if you can get the barmaid to notice you waving a banknote around. Liz and Dianne.

Just got back from Argassi on 22nd August. Had a fantastic time. Stayed at Maria Mare Studios which were on the end of the resort and a bit quieter. Their situation is perfect, right on the beach. Everyone was very welcoming. The Greek Tavernas were all excellent, especially the Granada which is just past the Green Frog Supermarket. We would definately go again and stay at the same place. The only down side was that there isn't very much of a beach which didn't matter to us as we was right on the sea front but it would if you stayed further back. The sea however is beautiful, warm and clear.

Morgan B

Just got back from ARGASSI.. STAYED IN THE ADMIRAL HOTEL!!! Where shall I start!!! I blame THOMAS COOK to be honest bcause they shouls have known more. The hotel was VERY NOISY.. the walls were paper thin. The hotel shouldnt have a star rating because its not all that at all. The maid service is very good - clean towels and sheets everyday. The pool is tiny and shared with the 3 other hotels so it is always PACKED, luckily we found a 'secret' beach which is 300 metres away.. it has no sand but you can sit around a pool or on the rocks. Its a little chalet complex which is open to everyone but alot of people dont realise its there. Theres a short cut from the admiral hotel there. If I hadnt found that place I would of had quite a bad holiday. The people are friendly.. EVERYONE speaks English. When I usually go to little islands like Zante they are usually quite hostile towards ethnic minorities but the greeks in this resort were quite friendly and open.
OH.. I dont usually go to the traditional british place whilst Im on holiday but we found a place called the GREAT DANE which is also next to the admiral (also beside the 'secret' path to that chalet complex) they ae really friendly and the food is great!!! The only place that didnt give me the runs. I didnt really like the food in the greek places to be honest. Rep was fab.. she didnt push you to do anything.. we was going to do the waterpark but she knew I had been to the one in Tenerife and it was nothing near the size of it.. some reps wouldnt tell you this. We travelled around the island a bit but i guess its best to drive, cabs can b a rip off at times. buses come and go when they like. The airport is something I expect of a third world country. After sept 11th I would expect all security in airports to be tight... If I had carried a bomb inside my pocket they wouldnt have known. I know someone who carried a pen knife (they had forgot to put it in their suitcase) through the metal detectors.. it bleeped but they were ushered through. Myself and some other passengers watched in amazement at the lack of security. The airport is FAR to small for all the flights (we had to queue up outside) and security is far to lax!!

other than that.. spend a bit more money to go to a 3 star.. youll have a FAB time!!!

Lucy P

Returned from Zante last friday. My fiancee and i had a wicked time in Argassi. Stayed in the Palmyra Hotel which was v. nice. The only thing was that if u go with Sunset u have to pay 4 air con but if u go with first choice then u get it free??!! Also the rep was annoying. Whatever u do don't book any trips through your rep as they are ridiculously expensive. Shop around the streets and u get a much better deal. We went on the Delphini trip but if i went again would go on the Fast Boat so u dont get covered in diesel!!!
Eating out v good, tried a different restuarant a night. The old Mario man outside tiffanys is very annoying. The resturant opposite was v nice and free wine. If you venture further up that road towards the snack academy then u come to a cross roads where a mini bus picks u up and takes u to a resturant in the hills which is lovely. Free wine, greek dancing and great views.
As for night life factory and avalon (the castle pub!!) were pretty good. Sit by the bar in the factory and get free shots all night!!
Laganas is pretty good and only few quid in the taxi.
Overall brill holiday and would reccommend to anyone!!!

Shelly

got back from aragassi 2 weeks ago talk about holiday blues :{ anyway stayed at the admiral which i found 2 be brilliant accomidation havent got a bad thing to say bout it at all.. I loved every miniute of my holiday and would definatley go back just trying to convince my boyfriend that we need another holiday in october so fingers crossed...
i would also like to say hi to the couple from falkirk (sorry cant remember ur names) but it was nice speaking to use x

Fiona C

Got back from holiday on Friday , had a great time, the Admiral apartments cater for all ages, all day!. Apartments very basic, but the maid service was excellent, clean towels everyday. The locals were realy freindly and always made us welcome, must mention the Oasis bar, really good just watch out for the cocktails there leathal. We will definatly be going back next year.

Jeremy H

We found the resort to be too noisy and lacking in charm. Although all of the many restaurants we tried were good value for money, you had to go a long way to find one away from the noise and bustle of the main road. If you prefer not to eat whilst looking at lorries, scooters etc passing just a few feet away, try Blue Blue. You have to go up past The Tropicana but , the view and peace & quiet are well worth it.

Helen D

Jut got back from Argasi yesterday. Had a fabulous time staying at the Xenos Kamara beach - superb accomodation a bit more expensive but worth every penny! We looked out over Zante Town harbour and saw the Olympic Flame arrive during our first week - excellent! Best bars: Beer Academy - 3 pool tables, lots of sky sports news and friendly staff. Goods for teenagers. The Artemis - live music 3 times a week - go and see the Elvis impersonator/comedian! And Adie who runs the karaoke is just out of Little Britain - he is the only one in the village! Safe for young teenagers to roam alone.

Mark

been to Argassi 2 times now, stayed at Zakantha Beach hotel....Go hire a Jimny Jeep and goto the Banana Beach or St Nicholas beach (those are the best beaches!! DONT hire mopeds...the roads are slippery as hell!! Say hi to my great m8's Dennis and Nikos at Beer Academy....the little bloke that looks like Mario and owns Tiffanys restaurant-cross the road-he gets annoying after a while...Go to Zante town in the evening ,its better time to shop...dont be dissapointed if ya dont see a turtle...its not Guaranteed...
Most of all have fun!

Georgina

My boyfriend and i got back from Argassi last friday. We both had an amazing time, the views were incredible. The weather was very very hot. We hired a quad bike for 2 days which was great fun, only 35 euros for 24 hours, which meant we could travel to many of the other resorts on the island. We also went on a day trip of the island on the Delphini boat. This was great value and we even saw a turtle which was the highlight of the day. The beach was nothing special in Argassi but the swimming pool at the Commodore, where we stayed, and the Captains and Admiral hotel made up for this. All the staff were really helpful and the studio we got for the week was massive, enough for 4 people, and it was cleaned everyday. We cant say enough good things about Zante. Such a memorable holiday

Keri B

I returned home from Argassi yesterday. My family and I stayed at the "Villa Denise" and we loved it. Argassi is a fantastic resort to stay in, its close to Zante town, it has plenty of bars and restaurants to keep everyone entertained, although the beach is a bit of a let down.
I would recommend the "Beer Academy" as the best bar, as it has a great range of cocktails, reasonably priced drinks, pool tables and music. "Picadilly" was my favourite restaurant, as one of the waiters there was really hot!!!
Whatever you do, try to avoid "Tiffanys" - the guy who stands outside is really annoying and will try to hassle you into eating there, when its really nothing special!

Kerry C

HI TO BRIAN AT THE ADMIRAL, ME AND MARK ARE MISSING YOU ALREADY, JUST WANTED TO PUT IN A WORD FOR NATHAN AT THE CORSA CHINESE HE'S A GREAT GUY AND EVEN IF YOU DONT LIKE CHINESE GO THERE. GIVE US A CALL BRIAN WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN, ALSO HAPPY DAY'S TO ELLE & STEVE A GREAT COUPLE JUST A PITTY WE DIDNT GET TO KNOW YOU IN THE FIRST WEEK. WE SHALL DEFFINATLEY BE VISITING ZANTE AGAIN ITS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE AND SOME SPECTACULAR VIEWS

Tasha B

hiya me and my boyfried had a fantasic time in argassi! im coming back in august! weve got the tickets the day we got back! hope to see you all soon p.s charlie (from the factory) email me love tasha x

Jane H

Me and my sister Emma went to Argassi in June and has a brilliant time. We stayed in the Hotel Eleana which was fanastic and would definately recommend the hotel to anyone. We went on a cruise around the island which was really good - a bargain at €15 for a 9:30-5 trip. Remember to take something to eat as the food is expensive on the boat. There were lots of lovely places to eat, my favourite was Papillion. The nightlife was good, we spent most evenings in Jungle, Avalon and Magic Mushroom. I had such a great time that I'm planning to work in Argassi next summer and I can't wait already!!!

Sara D

My boyfriend and I got back from Argassi last week. We spent 2 weeks at the Palmyra Hotel. We would recommend the hotel to anyone and the new pool bar/restaurant (best food in Argassi) - hi to Nikos & Spiros.

Argassi is a resort for families & couples - don't expect nightclubs. The beer academy is a good place to spend the evening (pool tables, music, football etc.) and the Magic Mushroom is good.

The beach in argassi was a real let down - it is only about 2 metres deep and you have to make your way over lots of shingle & stone to get into the sea!

On the whole we would recommend Argassi to anyone!

Laura K

Argassi was fantastic, we stayed at Noula Studios which is a little bit out, but it was a brilliant place to stay, especially if you wanted a quiet holiday. We went in July, the weather was beautiful. the shops were good and all the food we ate in restaurants was really good.

I recommend going to Avalon in the evenings, it is one of the best bars I have ever been to. All the staff work so hard to make sure everyone has a great time. Your all doing a brilliant job!! Can't wait to come back.

Morag K

We stayed at the Katerina Palace Hotel. The room was basic but very clean. Breakfast were good and the pool bar was excellent particularly the milk shakes and the Sunday Lunches.

Two excursion I would recommend were Dionosis trips to the Turtles. The guide was an English man and gave detailed information about the turtles. Peter's trip to Athens was also good. Kostas the guide was lovely.

We loved the food in Argassi we had many good meals in the bars and restaurants. However, we found a lovely little restaurant called Flavour Oddities it was excellent and a bit different.

Julie S

My boyfriend and i just returned from Argassi last thursday, the weather was great, nightlife was good and the food was excellent we would recommend going to tiffanys for traditional greek food - gorgeous! i would say that the resort is ideal for families and couples. However just wanted to mention NOT to get any of the "henna" tattoos done by the guys on the street. we got one done each in our first week and they were both fine. We got another one done last wednesday and my boyfriend has taken a really bad reaction to it - apparently it is quite common as the dye they use is not henna but black hair dye! apart from that we had an excellent holiday & would recommend it.

Nigel C

We went for 2 weeks early June. Loved every minute of it. Stayed at the Zakantha Beach with it's own bit of beach (probably the only decent stretch of beach there). Ate out at different places most nights. Had to fight off the people trying to entice you into their restaurants every night but a simple "not tonight" seemed to work ok. You've got to try "Granada" out the end of town (opposite end to zante town). It's a family run taverna with great food and entertainment (music on Sat/Tue, greek night on Thursdays). For a trip into zante town, catch the "choo-choo" (road train) for €4 return. Much more entertaining than a bus or taxi. We're definitely coming back some time soon.

Steph

We got back from Argassi on friday and it was great. The people are so friendly, the food is great (especially Aphrodites and Stars!) and the weather was beautiful!! The beach was nice but in some places it was very small, sometimes none existant. The turtle spotting trip was fun but about 2 hours too long so it got quite boring. We stayed at Nikos studios which were very clean and the people were lovely. Only bad point was the noise in a morning which started from about 7am!! Overall it was a amazing holiday and we would definitely go back again.

Nikki B

Looking in the Thomson Brochure it says there is a golf course in Argassi, has anyone been there, and is it a full course or just pitch and putt??

John S

2nd Year in Argassi, staying in Locanda. Perfect.
Pool and sea right there, Family run Hotel/Apartments, just at the end of the strip, Friendly and well run.

Stars is good this year, but for a special treat, take a taxi up to Theodoritis Greek Taverna, just at the end of the Argassi Road, Fantastic Views and Sunset, Great Food and Service, Thanks George.

Another good restaurant is ILISION, on the back road behind Argassi, 3 x starters, 3 x Main Courses, Litre of wine, Euro's 21.00 excellent food and nice and peaceful.

Jo P

Jo P

Just got back having stayed at the Palmyra Hotel, which seemed
to be one of the better looking hotels in the area. Very pleasant,
although the hotel staff were not the most welcoming. The room
was very clean with all mod cons, had to pay 12 euros for the
fridge and kettle!

Loads of restaurants just a stones throw away, the best was
Tiffany's, very tasty food and very reasonable. Peter the owner,
although pestering everybody in the street to eat at his place,
was harmless enough and very friendly. Try Ethnic, a lovely little
restaurant along from the Avalon Bar heading towards Zante
Town, food gorgeous and ambience memorable.

DO NOT EXCHANGE YOUR STERLING UP IN ENGLAND. YOU
CAN CHANGE YOUR MONEY UP FOR EUROS IN MOST OF THE
SHOPS AT A RATE OF 1.48 & COMMISSION FREE. BEATS

Got back yesterday and the weather there was very sunny, in the
early thirties. Lovely!!

Christopher G

stayed at the commodore very noisey at night doors banging room very clean maid service excellent best place to eat is the pheonix tavern food excellentgeorge and nephews make you very welcome not pushy like further down the road perhaps they will learn one day we dont like it

Karon-anne S

Due to health reasons we are selling the following - restaurant, internet cafe and a semi completed house. Could be sold for immediate take-over (preferably), or end of season. We also have another restaurant in the Planos - Tsilivi area for sale. Serious enquires only at karonnz@yahoo.com or telephone 26950-42311, 26950-41660 after 6pm.

Sarah B

hey! how can anyone slate zante? it was fantastic - loved every minute of it! we went at the end of may, weather was fantastic! stayed at the palmyra hotel, which was lovely, although its more of a family place so dont expect to be liked if ur coming in later than 9pm, and god forbid if u listen to music at that time too! :) we always went to avalon bar, which was really wicked as the bar staff in there were really friendly, cool, and fit (apparently theres a fit guy who works in the red lion too!!), & the dj was a right laugh! cant recommend this resort enough, so much so that we are defo goin back, hopefully in august. hey to avalon crew, and leper, on your own in the red lion!

Billy A

Just go there you will enjoy it! We stayed at the Commodore Apartments which were very clean and friendly. The staff were always willing to help...and Cody always ready with the cocktails..the best barman in Argassi. The resort at that time of the year(early June) was quiet. The people are very friendly and the food excellent. We will be back.

Elinore N

I want to say thank you to the whole Argassi! Me and my friend went there one week in the middle of june this year and stayed at Chryssi Akti. This week was the best week of my life. We had such a great time both in Argassi and Laganas and we´re coming back really soon.

And again thank you guys! and see you soon! really soon=)

Gayle L

We had really good food in Castaway, went ther a couple of times, maybe the normal chef was having a night off? really surprising because we were told that the workers go there and everytime we went in it was really busy with some of thje workers in.

Jess H

Hi ya Gayle. When I went to the Castaway restaurant we got really bad service, and undercooked food, and everyone at the tables around us seemed to be handing back their food too. Was your meal ok? Maybe they were just having as bad night ir lack of chefs in the kitchen.

Gayle L

Just got back on Monday 14/06/04 from Argassi. My partner and I didn't really enjoy this holiday, we stayed in the commodore apartments which are up a steep hill and have a lot of steps not very good for young kids etc. Very noisy at night with doors banging etc! pool area ok sunbeds are free but there are the sad people who claim them the night before!!
The best place to go is the Beer Academy, Dennis is a really nice guy and very friendly. Just opposite is the Snack academy which serves really good food burgers etc and really tasty pizza's!!
Other good places to eat are The Blue Sky which is the first left past Tiffany's it's just a new restaurant with good food and good prices off the main drag.
Castaways is another good one really good steak and sunday dinner, this is where the workers eat so you know it's good.
Do not go on the Cruise with Casso grotto ( the red baot with "Delphin" written on it we had a really bad experience and the loo's on the boat were disgusting!
We hired a car and went Gerakas beach which is really beautiful and clean but you need a car to get there!
If anyone wants more info e-mail me and I'll try to help.

Peter T

Delicous Delicous! Best food in Zante! I am an annoying little man who will drag you kicking and screaming into Tiffaneys whether your hungary or not. Thank you thank you

Tasha B

Hey been to zantie for 3 years in a row! its been fantastic i know my way around its great! I just wanted to say hi to dawn who does the greek night rides and charlie who works in the factory bar you will remember me! Ill be back in august the 9th! Cant wait cya soon love tasha xxxx

Alana A

Just returned from Argassi and the resort is just as good as before. I also heard from a local that they plan to extend Argassi beach this winter by 50mtrs, which will be great for next summer.

Although there is plenty to do it still isn't rowdy, having something their to cater for all.

Debbs C

Hi there this was my first family trip to argassi! I must say that the locals where very very nice! the weather was quite warm for may but the evenings got quite cold and very quickly.
The beach is not very large but it has some nice little rock pools and there are lots of swimming pools.
All in all i would go back again it was a lovely place and was not far from zante main town for some nice day trips.

Karen M

wot a great place to take your family. it as some lovely place's to eat nice shops to look in and the people are so friendly as you walk by.agrassi is the best place for familys as it does not get packed so they will enjoy it as much as you will.

Jac S

Going to Argassi with family and friends in August some of which prefer not to sit by the pool all day,any suggestions re excursions and things to do?
Also is it possible to hire bikes bikes for two, like the rikshaws, fancied that for a laugh it we could.
thanks

Avrille T

Message to gary maysmore re Zachantha Beach hotel-we booked with Libra, it was the only brochure with this hotel in. We highly recommend 'Waves' snack bar-a garden on the beach and Lynn was extremely helpful!

Karen T

Dawn and Steve!

I am heading off to the Xenos Kamara Beach on June 24th with my 3 year old...I will let you know what it is like when I get back! :) Karen

Monica S

Stayed at the admiral apartments with my daughter in argassi no problems 1st holiday abroad only one word "FANTASTIC" I thought I was on another planet, but having worked hard it was lovely to relax. Everthing about Argassi is magical. "I will be back" as arnie once said. You want peace u got it. you want music u got it. What u want argassi got it.

Gary M

hi avrille, we stayed at zakantha beach last july, found it to be excellent, just away from the main bustle, right on the beach, the place was kept very clean with friendly staff. we tried to get there again this year but could not go through the same travel operater. mabey next year!

Avrille T

We have just come back from our first time in Zante and have booked to go back in May next year. We have booked at the Zachinthos Beach Hotel, has anyone stayed there recently?

Kay H

thank you for your help elle.x

Dawn A

We are going to Argassi in September staying at the Xenos Camara Beach, and was looking for information on activities around the area for the kids and what are the bars like for us, please leave a message or email us wjoshuad@aol.com if anyone else is staying there when we are hope to see you soon in the bar. We would also like to know about the hotel.

Elle

Message to Kay
Argassi is a great base to see all of the island. Its not too busy and its not too quite..quite bars are Tropicana and Porto Cali .. if you want gorgeous peaceful beaches, then take a taxi from Argassi to Vasilikos (or get the free bus from outside Avalon at 10am everyday) its beautiful..my favourite is Banana Beach and Daphne Beach..oh and St Nicolas beach. A taxi from the airport usually costs around 12-15 euros. Taxi to the gorgeous beaches is about 17 euros .. the drive is amazing... the island is amazing..make sure you explore and go on the island tours (boat and jeep safari) its such a beautiful island! I hope you love it as much as I do!!

Julie M

Going to the Argassi in 4 days (can't wait!!) Stopping in the Hotel Eleana, any views??? Is there much to do at this time of year, we are a relatively young couple and would like a bit of nightlife but particularly clubbing!

Kay H

please could anyone tell me roughly how much a taxi will cost from the airport to diana palace hotel in argassi? we are going in july and haven't got a clue how much it might cost so don't want to get ripped off.
also is argassi lively or quiet? me and my boyfriend are looking for a quiet holiday and don't know what to expect.thanks

Lindsey C

I have been 2 zakynthos twice and stayed in the Diana Palace hotel.... BRILLIANT!!! loved it!! i HOPE 2 go back real soooon xx

Caz

only one word to explain it: amazing!!!!

Hannah B

Argassi is fantastic. My boyfriend and I went in July 2003 and we had the best holiday. The beech isn't great admittedly but there are plenty of other lovely beaches around the island which are only minutes away by car/taxi/bus. It is an ideal place for couples with lots of lovely restaurants and bars. Groups of single people may be better off in Laganas but it is only a short taxi ride away and it cost us 11 euros for each journey. Zante is just gorgeous and I would recommend Argassi to anyone. John in Ionion Car Rental is especially good as are the Papillion and Zorbas restaurants!

Les T

we stayed in the studios at the captains hotel, argassi in june 2002 hotel was not bad, pool area got pretty busy& there were a lot of kids about we didn't use the bar or restaurant preffered the local tavernas, the hotel is at the top of a hill about 500m from the centre (the last 100m is a killer after a night out!)have fun!! ps hope you're not travelling with libra(see my note about them)

Michael F

Staying at captains hotel for two weeks. have anyone any comments to make of their stay at the hotel

Hi there, just saw the comment on how far laganas is from argassi, me and my friend are going to argassi in late July, does anyone know the good lively places to go in argassi? How much on average would a taxi cost to laganas? xx

Ness

it,s only 10-15 min from argassi to laganas, the taxi rank is at the red lion end of the main road (you cant miss it, dusty cars and greek midle aged men standing around chatting with ciggars in their mouths.) hope you have a great time, wish I was comming with you, but I,ll just have to wait till my own holiday.

Paul G

I think Argassi is a fantastic plave and i have been the past two summers, absolutely gutted that i wont be there this year, im going to miss my two weeks in this great place, hopefully get over next summer .

Lee

I am going to argassi at the end of august, could any1 tell me how long by taxi is laganas?????????????? help would be appreciated!!

Vanessa C

why people go abroad puzzles me. Argassi is a lovely corner of a beautiful island. o.k. the beach is a thin slither of golden sand, (that my children, aged 8 & 1 played on for hours) the sea is shallow and warm, the people are very friendly and the food is wonderful. In the evenings we ate in a different greek restaurant every night and never had a bad meal. nights were spent in TRISTANOS a lovely friendly place ran by yannis and takis (brothers). Last year (03) we stayed at the mary studios the first week of october, directly above these so called large barking dogs, what barking ?, they are kept chained up on the far side of the building in the next field with the chickens and didn't even bark when my sons went to pet them. We love Zante and we love argassi and if you want noisy night life, beer drinking competitions and fish and chips try somewhere else and leave this beautiful piece of paradise alone.

Anne M

stayed in mary appartments and the noise of dogs and moter bikes was a nightmere, i felt sorry for the people who had children with them,we also had an invisable rep so nothing was done about complaints from guests,if you are going on any trips,go with the local tour reps, it does not cost a fortune and it is the same places.
the cruise around the island is great as is the coach tour, if going for a greek night, or just for food go to the target bar the have a taxi that takes you there and back, the food and views are the best in argassi, met some lovely people in marys, and will keep in touch other than that, there is not much else to say unless you are happy with a no beach, no kids park and very little entertainment then go to argassi

Paul C

see sarah Hopkins..sorry Sarah!

Sarah H

The kids love it here but I think it's awful. Staying at the Admiral apartments which is pretty good. The local beach is quite awful and we have had to hire a car to get about.I would advise that if you are looking for a real and authentic Greek experience I should look at island other than Zante. Sorry but I loathe this palce. Guess when I leave this internet cafe I had best look over my shoulder for the local assasin!

Leanne F

Perhaps it was were we stayed -Xenos Kamara beach -that made us enjoy Argassi. Hotel is right on the beach and away from hussle of main drag.
Beach is not all that, but there are some nicer spots.
Good choice of shops and restaurants, we also found Argassi really cheap.
The pavements are a nightmare with a buggy.

Julie B

Stayed at the Katerina Palace Hotel, just the right position - just off the road so away from the noise of the bars etc, but not so far that you could fail not to keep popping out to go shopping in all the local tourist shops/supermarkets etc.

Beach was small, but plenty of sunbeds for only 5 euros for 2 - good value

for something a little different catch the 'train' that goes into Zakynthos town every day. Even if you don't want the shops, its worth just being able to go into town for the views.

Julie & John

Karen Maher (October 08, 2003) I think the hotel u want is the Porto Illessia

Jayne M

my husband and i have just spent a week there 28.09 03 till 5 10 03
it was lovely ,just what we needed,we highly reccomend the granada taverna ,just 15 mins walk away from the hussle and bustle of central argassi.we enjoyed walks ,the boat trip to shripwreck cove and blue caves (although i was seasick)which we booked through our rep,we reccomend taking your own packed lunch as food is not cheap on boat.our costas studios appartment was very basic but adequate.
we would go again.

Julie & John

Just arrived back from Argassi today where we spent 2 weeks at the Diana Palace. Weather was great apart from 2 wet but warm days and yesterday when the heavens opened and my God did they open. We have been welcomed yet again in Argassi 4 years we have been returning to Argassi for our family holiday. We have 2 children aged 11 and 6. The people in Argassi are so very friendly and they love kids. We have made so many friends.. Gina, Katerina and Dimitris never got to say goodbye but it is not Good bye it is see you next year. Sakis the best night porter around he is a true friend and dedicated to his job. Akis......... WE DO NOT LIKE STRAWS!!!!!. it was fun chatting with you, keep in touch you have the email address, Andy is our friend and life in Argassi is not the same without him and we did find it strange without him to have a laugh with behind the bar but as the days went on you chilled and became a friend. Places to eat. AVOID AT YOUR PERIL PETER FROM TIFFANIES. HE WILL CHASE YOU AND WAVE YOU AND SHOUT AT YOU AND BASICALLY BE A PAIN IN THE REAR END. HE WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET YOU TO EAT IN HIS OVER PRICED RESTAURANT AND EAT HIS TASTLESS AWFUL FOOD, but his son owns Chill out pancakes and waffles and cappicino and coffee, coca cola, coke light etc you get the message, he is worth a visit so please take a seat anywhere and chill out. (sorry our joke if you meet him you will understand). Nostalgia was excellent definately worth a visit but be prepared for a wait but it is worth it. Supermarket Dolphin Nikos (who's your daddy) he loves football items especially forest so get on his good side take him a pressie. The pools in Argassi are lovely and clean and all are welcome the beach is not as nice as it used to be and is narrow and dirty. We would recommend the Diana Palace or their sister hotel Filoxenia in Tsilivi you will have a great time and be made welcome (if you go to the Diana palace say hello to the singing waiter. Nicolletta and Eleni and all the other receptionist good job you remember our room number every time as we didin't. So be a clever booker and go to Argassi for Sambuka Bubuka and say John and Julie say YASSOU.

Karen M

There is a hotel in Argassi on the sea front, it has a large marble staircase from the pool area to the hotel I think it iscalled Porto something but I am not quite sure. I would like to know the name of this hotel if possible and who I can book a holiday through.

Sophie M

I came back from Argassi yesterday after a wicked weeks holiday.I went in July for a week and had such a good time we went back.We met loads of people there last time and met up with them again this time.It was really lovely to see them all again. We stayed at the papadatos apartments this time because we got to know the people who own them last time we went.Obviously because its getting towards the end of the season it wasn't as busy as it was in july but we still had loads of fun.We spent most nights at the factory club which had such a brilliant atmosphere. We met some people who were working over there and they actually come from norwich where I live so I'm going to meet up with them when they come back.I love greece so much I'm moving over there for 6 months next summer.I would recommend Zante to anyone because its not just for us youngsters it's for families, couples and the elderly as well.I can't wait to get back.

Sarah S

I arrived home from Zante yesterday. I went for a week and stayed in the Costas Studios, Argassi. They were very basic but had what was needed in them. I wouldnt go there again though. Argassi was a lovely place, had plenty of lovely restaurants & bars. The night life was good but not to lively. The best restaurant is the Prince Of Asia, best chinese i've had. I would go back to Zante but maybe somewhere with a decent beach. Was very disappointed with the beach!!

Raymond N

The local people are extremely friendly and helpful, more so than Canaries, Majorca and Crete, but it becomes exhausting explaining every 2 minutes / no thank you I've eaten already, or maybe tomorrow or later or please I'm on holidays. Also you get followed around all the shops , either they dont trust you or they are on a commission basis selling. Other than this as I say the nicest people on earth.

Anne M

i have been to zante before but never to argassi, we booked to mary apartments, some people have said about a dog or dogs i am terrified of large dogs and have tried to get the accomation changed , but have not been able to,so if anyone has stayed and the mary's couldyou give me a bit more info. i am going for 2 weeks on the 12th october

Beverly W

this was the very first time that myself and my family have been to greece.we loved zante.thescenery was good people were lovely. the beach is not goog though in argassi if your a beach lover try laganas or further round the coast.

Lydia B

I AM 18 YEARS OF AGE AND I HAVE BEEN TO ARGASSI TWICE NOW, ONCE WHEN I WAS 15 AND THATS WHERE I HAVE BEEN FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS, ITS A BRILLIANT PLACE AND ITS FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES EVEN THOUGH IT IS FAMILY ORIENTATED YOU CAN STILL TRY OUT THE COCKTAIL BARS AND GO AND DO SOME GREEK DANCING, YOU CAN ALSO CATCH THE FREE BUS TO ST NICHOLAS BEACH WHICH PICKS YOU UP OUTSIDE THE CHURCH AND BRINGS YOU BACK EVERY DAY. THE PEOPLE ARE SO NICE AND ONCE YOU'VE BEEN YOU HAVE TO GO BACK FOR MORE, ITS GREAT!!!

Ben V

I think Argassi was ok for the sort of holiday my girlfriend and I wanted, i.e. the right balence of nightlife and culture and beach etc. I wouldnt have wanted to stay there another week as it was quite quiet. Laganas seemed like a slightly more exciting place, I would probably recommend there for a longer stay.

Stuart G

Just got back from Argassi after spending a lovely week there. We stayed at the windmill studios fab place really freindly and helpfull. If you want a good boat tripp around the island then go and see Peter in his office he is very helpfull. We are booking to go back next year!!

Leanne F

Hi Dawn
we going xenos kamara -same dates. Hope to see you there.
I hope he says yes :)

Dawn S

Hi there, to all them holiday makers travelling to argassi on the 25th september we are stopping at zenous kamara beach for 2 weeks, we were there last year and after a bad car crash it was the best week of our life, most people say the baech is not up to much, but it is peaceful and safe for kids. anyone know of a safe and reliable car hire, due to car crash obvious where abit worried. greenfrog was great food and friendly service,, well see you there.. p.s i'm proposing to my boyfriend while out there.. so look out for us and join in the party. have great time to you all.

Andy S

Argassi was OK to visit for 1 week, however we did need a car for 5 days as there is little on offer. No beach to speak of,and when we visited in first week of September the nightlife was subdued, leaving a trip to Laganas a better option. However i would strongly recommend the Tropicanna bar, with its cinema. The views from 'up the hill'were good.I would recommend Argassi for families, couples and people wanting to hire a car.

Keith P

We thoroughly enjoyed Argassi. The beach is poor, but we knew this when we booked. A great choice of places to eat (especially Venitsiana) and the night life was good. We stayed at Paradise Studios which was a nice distance away from the main town (10 minute walk)

Anne B

We had a lovely weeks break at Contessa Hotel.

Argassi was exactly how we expected it. The bar on the beach was just so lovely at night, when the weather cooled down. Really relaxing or it may have been the cocktails,

Trip to the Shipwreck was out of this world, stony beach but the clear water made up for it.

Lauren, K

forgot to mark it!!!!

Lauren, K

Arassi was brill, especially the kiss bar so if your going to argassi check this bar out it does sum fab cocktails. thanks to evey1 that made our holiday a great one, andy and his family, the portsmouth lads, lucy and Co and any1 else we met! we cant go back next year coz we are off to lanzarote but we will return in 2005 so watch out! c u then x x x x x

Tony B

Mel M

We stayed at Krinas on our first ever trip to Zante. We had such a great time that we keep going back to Zante. Krinas is very basic, but the staff are helpful and laid back. The hill is not too steep ( I don't know what others are moaning about!). It is great value for money and well worth a visit. Laganas is more lively and has a better beach, but I felt it was too crowded at night.

Pamela, S

I just got back from Argasi yesterday with my 5 friends, and we loved it there - it has been the best holiday ever. Anyone who is going to Argasi should definately go the the Avalon bar, or the castle as we call it! it looks like a castle and is the best place in argasi for people and music - which was the best EVER! thanks to Dj Iain! the Beach is nothing spectacular, but it isnt too crowded and the snack bars are really nice. definately would go back if i was given teh chance!

Karen C

We got back on Sunday. Oh my God the heat!! Looking at the forecasts it said 32-34...that must have been in the fridge, because it was 42 around the pool of the Admiral!!! Our fave eatieries were Castaways, Premier and Tiffanys and the worst was Nostalgia where we were served (after an hour's wait) raw chicken..... Didn't visit the beach, but hired a jeep and toured the island which was lovely and then did the round the island boat trip. It was good to see the scenery from both viewpoints. Argassi was good for us. We have two mid-teenagers and felt ok with them visiting the Tropicana Centre to watch films and play pool whilst we were next door in the apartment. Do be aware that they will be served alcohol everywhere if that is something you are concerned with. Our 14 year old was served without question. We would go back - but not in August - TOOOO HOTTTTT!!!!

Shelley C

me and my boyfriend returned from another fantastic 2 weeks in argassi on the 21st and to the girl lookin for the job the green frog had an advert outside for staff when we left.

Lucy

I got back this Sunday and stayed at Krinas. The accommodation is basic but you don't stay in your room much on holiday anyway, do you?!I would definitely reccommend renting a fan for your room. The hill up to the apartments isn't too bad, but challenging in the heat. The Phoenix restaurant is nice, only down the road, and there is an air conditioned supermarket where you can buy everything you need. Take a day tour of the island, and if possible, rent your own private boat so you can stop where you like to swim. The waterpark is open, but is being developed in phases, so is not yet complete.,

Martin

on the family inn situation if you book through cosmos its a lot cheaper than airtours and the reps are nicer dont know who employed lyndon but they should shoot him

Martin

i have to say i complettley disagree with martyn for his comment on the water park it is great fun and we all had a fantastic time the food was resonable no different to going to altern towers and paying thier prices on food so i dont know what he is on about its a great day out for the whole family

Darren Y

Paul

You can find the Family Inn in the airtours brochure or you can book through tvtravel shop at there website or mayby try the family inn website. Hope this has been useful I have just got back from the Family Inn 2 days ago had a wicked time

Nicola O

Hi im going to argassi on the 28th of september to stay at the Porto Iliessa Apartments and i have been looking on the net for some pictures of the appartments and can't seem to find any, can anyone email me some? or can anyone give me any information on them? thanks.

Paul B

can anybody tell me which brochoure the family inn hotel is in as i want to book there for next year

Kellie S

Me and my boyfriend got back from Argassi last Thursday and i wanna go back, we had the best time, we had gorgeous weather the whole week, Argassi is a nice place, though the beach isn't very good. There are alot of restaurants to choose from we found that the Green Frog was the best meal we had. Night life isn't as lively as what i thought, if your looking for a lively holiday then Laganas is the place to go, we got a taxi there which cost 12 euros and it is very lively and full of young people. I only bad bit about our holiday was the airport!! it is very small - if your planning a trip to Zante you will see what i mean!!

Steve C

I stayed at the krinas in july and did not like it at all.The shower head was broke still waiting to be fixed i bet.Rooms very basic. We were on lower floor facing pool we had people jumping in pool till 5 in morning lots of noise people complained to staff but it still went on every night. All in all argassi was nice but not to keen on accomadation.Oh by the way that hill is a pain.

Martyn D

I visited the water park and was disapointed by the size of it there are very few slides and while i was there there was an acident and they closed a few of them off, i do not recomend the water park to anyone really (The food was also expensive)

Trevor B

hello just wondering if anyone knows if the new water park as opened in zante.Last time i heard it was opening on the 1st august. We are going to zante in september on the 26th.Could anyone please fill me in on any detail regarding the water park.My two kid are driving me mad asking if there is one there or not.

Myself and 8 friends are going to the Krinas Apartments in Argassi on the 31st August (any feedback as to what they are like?). Can someone suggest day trips, places to eat/drink, car/jeep hire. Also does it get chilly in the evening in September.
Many Thanks

Curly W

WELL WORTH A HOLIDAY,NOT TACKY OR TOO QUIET,VERY HOT THOUGH IN JULY/AUGUST

Nick Y

Although our accomodation was crap there were a lot of other good looking places to stay so mostly you won't be disappointed. We were there last week and it was HOT so try for air conditioning or at least hire a fan if you want to sleep although this didn't matter to us as the noise at our apartment ensured we were awake most of the time anyway. The town is great, plenty of good bars, shops and some good restaurants if you look for them and believe me, some bad ones too with surly staff. Beach is small but safe for kids, clean and the water warm. Loads of great pools all of which welcome non guests and mostly have free sunbeds if you buy a drink from their bar. We hired bikes and cycled into Zakynthos Town (20 mins) which is worth a half day look although if you want shops most are closed afternoons. All in all a good place for couples or kids.

Russ R

just got back today! had a brilliant time, its a great resort for couples and kids... stayed at the Hotel Contessa which has a nice a nice clean pool, we had a sea view and the beach and shops were less that 5 minutes away!

The weather was HOT! but the mythos helped with that!! I'd personally recommend the 'Ilission' taverna - great food and very friendly... it's about a 10 minute walk from the main drag but well worth it... also the target bar up on the hill offers the best views, its very cheap if u go in the day too... we got 2 beers, 2 orange juices, a spag bol, plate of beautiful topmatoes, bowl of olives, tadziki and bread for 10 euros!! but the scenery alone was worth the money...

I'd avoid the Athena as they a bit dodgey and the food was bland, also some of the beach front places are a bit surly... i'd definitley defend the beach tho... yes its small, and on occasions a bit stinky! but the sea is crystal clear and excellent for swimming or paddling... we went on a boat trip to look at the carreta carettas (turtles to u and me!) and saw some amazing beaches and were again very impressed by the clean blue sea!!

O and the picadilly was a good restaturant too... and tell the annoying people who say "come inside, we have fish, and grilled this and that and etc...." that you've just eaten! they leave u straight alone then!!!

And finally! if u get a chance take a horse and cart ride, we got two mad tennagers to race us around the resort at breakneck(ish) speed which was a lot of fun!!!

DEFINITE RECOMMENDATION!!

Jenna O

I went to Argassi and stayed at the Porto Iliessa Apartments which i have to say were great. They are spotless, the pool is great and the people are really friendly especially George who is the barman. Watch out ladies. I thought it was really nice the whether was great. There is loads of restaurants and good bars i think Kiss was the most favourable although they have a habit of playing the same songs over and over its still all good. Dont ever do Nanas Horses and if you do make sure you have insurance that covers it and that is all i am saying. Have fun everyone!

Elaine

Just come back from Argassi with my friend, and I must say that this resort is definately for Families and Couples. Don't get me wrong we certainly had a good time as there are some good bars and restaurants and the weather was very hot too. We stayed at Hillside 1 which had a gorgeous view of the resort and was really quiet, so you could get a good nights sleep, the only draw back was 'The Hill' it must be the steepest hill I have seen and it was a nightmare, so if any of you are staying here, I would definately hire a car or a moped!!!!

Denise W

APOLLO BAR

For all you bitter drinkers this is the bar to be. Not only do they sell John Smiths Smooth for the guys you ladies will not find a better cocktail bar anywhere on the island. Dimi (local, friendly and certainly mad barman) can make any cocktail ever thought of(although his measures of vodka are uncontrolable!) Nico (bar owner) is just as mad and our native "Sinbad" resident compare and entertainer is so much fun. You will not be made more welcome anywhere - just tell them - MIKE AND DEE sent you! Our holiday would not have been the same without them all.
Location:- Between the English Bar (?) and the Red Lion on the main street.
The bar opens early morning and serves a great breakfast.

Marie G

The beaches on Argassi are small - but we really enjoyed using them as they were not at all crowded, very clean and the sea is beautiful, warm and crystal clear. If you are looking for a sardine crowded beach with lots of red hairy stomachs then Argassi is not for you. I found them very peaceful, relaxing and a great place to recover from my hangover from the night before. Other beaches are only a few minutes away by moped if you want to explore.

Hayley E

we have being to argassi 5 time and we have had a fantastic time every time. all the staff everywere are great and the beach is just down the road. the nightlife is good for all the age groups. belive me you will want to go back again i highly recommend the windmill studios to stay at they are very clean and welcoming.

Kirstie C

just got back from the admiral on monday had a greattime and already planning for august. the etertainment team are great but kareoke is done a bit to much. everyone that works there is freindly and always smiling especialy sofia. sam is great and we had such a laugh. its extremly hot so hire a fan and the factory is great for young people except jaimie the p.r staaff thinks he's gorgeous. hi everybody and ill definatly be back soon and we will all meet again xxxx

Kellie S

Hi, me and my boyfriend are going Argassi on 7th Aug, ive been reading everyone's comments and was a bit concerned about the beaches!! just wondered how far away other beaches were, and if there are may local buses to take you there, or is it alot of hastle!!?? would be grateful for some info!

Dee P

Been going to Argassi for a few years now, and will be back as soon as we can. The people are lovely the weather is great and the place just has a charm about it as it is not too noisy and in your face.

June N

We returned from Argassi last night after two scorching weeks, temps around 38 to 40 degrees, so you need to hire a fan or the air conditioning. We enjoyed our stay in the resort but I wouldnt recomend the admirals if youve no kids!! Its like bedlum and the inhouse entertainment is naff (OK if you like Karoake argh!). The girls at the bar and reception are wonderful so cheers to Nicki and Sofia and thanks! The beach is OK some of the bars have pools so you have a choiceto swim in the sea or pool. We liked the food in the Elena Grill and the staff were great you have to go off the main drag to find it, go up the road by the Ceramics sign. The magic mushroom is a good bar and the service is great! Cheers Vodka and orange for me!

Simon M

off to argassi next week, staying at admirals. frist time there
any tips or places to go or to eat at whould be very interested to know also thinking of hiring some transport whats it like to drive over there.

Linda L

I spent a week in Argassi at the Family Inn Hotel, it was my first holiday on my own, and I don't regret a minute.

Magenta D

Last day for us in Argassi after 2 excellent weeks. beaches are very narrow, but clean. The sea is crystal clear until the surf gets up then it gets a bit seaweed logged. Safe for kids, you can walk out for "miles" without it getting too deep.
Food is good in most of the eating places, but recommend Belt Busters opposite Zorbas on main street. Mario is the owner, and he makes you very welcome. His food is wonderful!
If you are staying in Argassi you have made a good choice.
We'll be back
adrianpollington@hotmail.com
Not Magenta del Fuego!

Gary B

TO ANYONE GOING TO ARGASSI FOR THE FIRST TIME! I HAVE GOT A FAIRLY
ACCURATE MAP I CAN PASS ON TO YOU VIA E-MAIL OR POST. IF YOU WOULD
LIKE ONE SEND DETAILS TO barkat@cwctv.net ARGASSI IS A GREAT PLACE
AND I HOPE ALL WHO GO THERE HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY!!

Barbara G

To Yvonne, getting to and from Windmill to the beach is all
on the flat. There are some little short cuts opposite the Windmill
that will take you down to places on the beach but your best bet is
to go to the crossroads and onto the main beach there where there are
sunbeds, snack bars etc.. Its not a great distance, an easy stroll
will get you there in 10/15 mins. Have a good holiday!

Kerry P

Well I went to Argassi at the beginning of may now im losing my tan, i need to go back for a top up!!. Ruth R

we returned from argassi on friday evening the 30th may 2003 and we had a wonderful time there.

there are a good selection of restaurants and shops and i reccomend the greek night up in the hills called target, for 12 euros for adults and 6 euros for kids you had a set greek menu and as much wine as you could drink!!!!

the beach is not upto much but we went to st nicholas on the free bus at 10.30am from the kiss bar and we also hired scooters and went to gerakas beach (turtle beach) and to laganas and kalamaki.

i reccomend the motorfast scooter place on the high street in argassi its reasonable and if you have any problems he comes out and fixes the bike for you.

we stayed at the noula studios and we had a fantastic time i reccomend if you want to stay on zante to stay there what wonderful people they are at them appartments, we'll be going back there next year for definate.

Hi me and lots of my friend are going to Argassi on 2nd July and are staying the Falily In Hotel Never been to Zante before and need to know some good night spots to go to

Ali R

We thought the resort of Argassi was perfect. There were loads of lovely places to eat (the Elena Grill House is definately the best and the staff are very friendly too!). The bars are also good and the staff were a laugh, we liked the Mushroom and the Avalon.

The beach was abit of a let down tho, but as we had a car for 7 days, it didn't really bother us too much.

Also the waether was stonking and we had about 12 days of blue skies and scorching temperatures. The weather changed over the last couple of days, but it didn't matter by then!

Bridget C

Hi !
My friend and I will be visiting Argassi for the first time in June 2003. We are staying at the Windmill Studios. I have a slight walking disability, and although we have been supplied with good info generally about distances to various places, would just like to know how accessible the beach is for me ! Is it an easy stroll on the level, or a bit of a hike ?
I would really appreciate some info on this as I would like to be able to reach the beach easily, and most important, be able to walk back !
I would really appreciate your comments.
Thanks a Bunch !

I have just read Beth Stephens 'can u help'. I am going to Aragassi on the 12th june with my boyfriend afer staying there twice last year. I am beach mad but the beach in Argassi is naff. There is a free bus that picks up outside a bar called the wreck at about 10.30 every morning and it brings you back at about 5.00 each night. The bus goes to st nicholas beach which is georgious and there are loads of watersports but i would recommend getting in the que early because it is popular and if the coach gets full you have to wait about 20 minutes for then to send another. There is also kalamaki beach which is about 7 euros in a taxi, that is a nice beach but no watersports.if you want anymore info you can email me at shellcartwright@yahoo.co.uk.

TO BETH STEVENS

THE BEACH IN ARGASSI IS VERY NARROW IN PARTS, BUT IDEAL IF YOU JUST WANT TO RELAX BY THE SEA.I WOULD RECCOMEND YOU HIRE A CAR OR MOPED AND EXPLORE THE ISLAND,BANANA BEACH IS ONLY A SHORT DRIVE/RIDE FROM ARGASSI IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A LARGE BEACH WITH WATER SPORTS AND BEACH BARS.YOU HELP BUT HAVE A GREAT TIME IN ARGASSI

I went with my girlfriend in July and had agreat time , plenty of pubs to keep u busy at night and enough places to eat that would allow u to eat somewhere new every night, ideal place for couples and families, dont have a bad word to say about it :)

WE WILL BE IN ZANTE IN OCT 2003 AND STAYING AT THE FAMILY INN HOTEL AND STUDIOS AT ARGASSI. THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST TIME TO THE ISLANDS AND WAS WONDERING IF IT IS NICE. I HAVE JUST READ THAT THE BEACHES AREN'T MUCH.

We definately think that Argassi is a great place to stay, we have been there 6 times now and like it so much that we are selling up and moving out there hopefully in April 2003, and hope to start a small business. We have stayed at various hotels and appartments, but have been back to the Marie Mare appartments 3 times. The people are great, especially our great friends Ken and Jude of the Oasis bar, highly recommend it to couples and families, the atmosphere is great and the drinks can't be beaten. Although the beach is small, there are plenty round about if you hire a car, or the local busses aren't too bad. Plenty of good eating places, and very friendly people. Not to be missed.

We chose Argassi for it's "middle of the road" type status, and we were not dissapointed. As a forty-something couple without kids, the place was near perfect for us. Not as brash or noisy as the likes of Laganas, but still had plenty of the right sort of bars, restuarants, & music to keep us amused for a fortnight. Granted the beach IS small, but that can work to your advantage. Most people would come to look at it & say, "That's crap" & go elsewhere. Leaving plenty of empty sunbeds, and loads of peace & quiet for those that wanted it. Watersports are available, but we went in October, so they were winding it down for the end of season. WAVES snack bar, (right on the beach) does some good breakfasts as well. A nice place to stay, & not far from the likes of Laganos should you need it.

Hardly any beach at all. Usual touristy shops selling the usual pottery, nick-nacks, inflatables, beach-wear, etc. Designer clothes also for sale - but expensive. Well worth hiring a car to explore the island - but avoid using Olympic Rent-a-car - their small cars (Pandas, Hyundais, etc. are very old and worn-out). Visit Elena's Grill House - an outdoor Greek restaurant, tables set in an olive grove, very good food, wine, staff, and very cheap prices.
