There are boat trips to the Shipwreck, blue caves, and for Leatherback Turtle spotting (caretta caretta)
If going on any trips be sure to take your own supplies of food and
drink because the prices on the boat are really ridiculous. take a
cardigan or some such with you to protect you from the wind (and
sometimes the sun as the reflections from the water can amplify the
amount of sun you get without knowing it). Shop around for trips
- in other words, best not to buy from the tour rep as they get a cut
too. There are plenty of stops throughout each village where you can
obtain these trips. Happy Holidays - maybe see you there as we
plan to be in Tsilivi at least once this year.
I am hoping to visit Zante this summer. Tsilivi looks beautiful, a priority for my holiday is to take boat trips round the island. Can you get any boat trips from Tsilivi?
TSILIVI HAS GOT TO BE THE PLACE WHERE I LEFT MY HEART!!!!
VISITING THERE 3 TIMES HAS CERTAINLY MADE MY MIND UP, MADE MY MIND UP THAT I WILL BE TRAVELLING OUT THERE ON THE 7TH MAY 2006 FOR THE SUMMER!Stayed at Planos Apartments from 14th Oct to 28th, Apartments where very good well maintained very clean, great staff, good location 5 minutes down the road to Buka beach, which was beautiful.
I have just returned fron Tsilivi on friday (21st Oct) had a good time, although it was rather quiet, but is to be expected being out of season! This is the most friendly place i have ever visited, when you walk into a bar you are made to feel most welcome by all the staff (george in the ark and destin in utopia).
Have just returned from Tsilivi (9th Oct to the 16th). The weather was fantastic and the people even better. It was a bit quiet as the season is drawing to a close, but that did not stop us from having a really great time. I would recommend the REd Lion (cocktails are blinding), Popeyes and Paradise for drinks. Fantastic beach bar is Xanthianos (i think we spell it like that). Fortis the owner is so hospitable and if he likes you then you can make it onto his wall of fame. All the food is fantastic and I wish I was there another week as the weather looks a lot better than ours. Beware of the shopping. My credit card bill is massive as it is such great value for money. All in all great holiday for the famillies, friends, couples, singles and the young at heart.
Lovely resort! Plenty of things to do without being too
commercial. Lots of restaurants and bars with some bars you can
watch films in, a few supermarkets, everything you need really. I
always say I won't go back to the same place and will always go
somewhere different on holiday, but I wouldn't object to going back to
Tsilivi again!
Back now two weeks from Tsilivi, found the resort to be ok with plenty of things to do at night if you enjoy that sort of thing. Plenty of places to eat and drink, although all serving pretty much the same stuff. If you hire a car it is worth going to some of the more remote Tavernas for authenticity. We stayed at the quiet end, with the option of the walk in to the centre, which we did a few times, mostly in the morning for breakfast at Two Brothers. The small beach at our end was awful, although sandy, the sand stopped when the sea started, the walk in to the sea was painful due to the roks and boulders in the water. There are much bettter beaches within a short drive away.
Hiya
We stayed at Liminaki studios on Bouka beach which is a 20 min walk from Planos / Tsilivi and we are glad we did. Tsilivi beach was very overcrowded, full of sunburned brits reading the Sun. Bouka beach was beautiful, very quiet, mostly Greek people there who only tended to arrive about 3-4pm. There is a lovely beach bar there and a mini market 5 mins walk. I am very glad we did not stay in Tsilivi itself, crowded and noisy but OK just to walk there for your evening meal and come back out again. If you only do one trip on Zante, make it the jeep safari (not Zakfari, use the yellow jeeps) it is excellent. You get to see the shipwreck and swim in a gorgeous secluded place called Porto limnionas (I think) and see parts of Zante which are off the beaten track. We will definitely return to Bouka beach.
I absolutely loved tsilivi and am really bummed that im back in murky south wales. The beach was excellent, the zante maris hotel was fabulous, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from with friendly staff and the best cocktail bars, such as paradise! Me and my boyfriend had an excellent time and wish we had stayed on there. I would definitly go back as it was great! Best 2weeks of my life.
I noticed a few people after advice, and I went there last September (5-12) with 3 lads so...
hey all
hi all. my girlfriend and i are wanting to go to zante next june 2006 but unsure which resort we have just come back from lanzarote puerto del carmen and that suited us to the ground it wasnt too mad but it was not dead either just right with plenty to do still and not many ticket touts dragging you into pubs and that was perfect for us. so can anyone please help us in picking our resort in zante we dont want it too quiet but not mad either. HELP PLEASE? also any hotel advice grately appreciated. please email me prl05@blueyonder.co.uk
Carol Gough. Try going direct to Tsilivi Travel, I did this year as I also had no luck finding a room with travel agents in England but could get flights easily. I checked with Tsilivi Travel first and then booked my flight with Thomson, confirmed the flight with Tsilivi Travel and booked a room. Phone them on 0030 26950 44194. They will give you all the info. their main website was not working the other day but you can also get all the info on www.zanteholidays.com
i was in tsilivi last year stayed at the zante maris. it was a beautiful hotel but spent most of our time at the planos as my son michael and his friends work there. tsilivi is lovely the beach is really family friendly and the people are really friendly . i want to come back again this year but so far have been unable to get a booking but am still hopeful and checking for availablility. any one going to the admiral apartments look out for michael and tell him his mum says hi. for anyone going to tsilivi i say you will have the holiday of your life have fun and may be i will see you there
Stayin at Rannia's apartments down near the st.Dennis apts does anyone know what they are like? What is the exchange rate at the moment? Anyone got views on the jeep safari. Can't wait to get out there.
hi im going to tsilivi in september just wondering if anyone has stayed in the strofades beach hotel and wat it was like..ive been to tsilivi b4 but not to this hotel
there is a water park in tsilivi and the weather is high 20s in spetember. hope it helps!
hi there im going to the resort this september i was wondering does anyone what the temperature is like that time of year and also is there any water parks? thank you!
Just come back from Tsilivi (June). We were staying 6km out of the resort so came in every night. As a resort I would say is has everything you need, great beach - watersports. Doctors, Money Exchanges, Bank Machines, plenty of supermarkets, gift shops, restaurants, disco bars, bars, car/bike hire, crazy golf, horse carriage rides, bar showing latest cinema releases, I could go on - even a MacDonalds! and friendly people. Just the right size not a big, brash noisy resort (not in June anyway). Great.
We stopped in the Georgia Studios right opposite McDonalds! As a resort it was fine and initial worries about noise at night were alleviated as everywhere near us shut down at midnight. Not sure I'd want to be there in the middle of August and would probably want somewhere a bit quieter.
Hi, just come back from a week in tsilivi, and loved every minute of it, we stayed in the aspassia studio which is about a 2 minute walk from the beach, its quite but not much entertainment, i recommend anyone to go to Freddie's Beach Bar not far from the watersports, the staff are lovely especially (rory) and me and my mam recommend trying their apple pie, can't fault any off the other restaurants, but if you want to go a bit overboard go to popeye's. enjoy

Hi
I was just wondering if all the visitors to Tsilivi have no knowledge of spelling or basic grammar and punctuation. Or does that describe the general tone of the resort?
Agdd your comment here...going to tsilivi in september.would like to know about mediterene hotel.is it nice.is there good tours worth going on
What a fantastic place!
will be staying in tsilivi in mid july. are there any special events then to enjoy/avoid. Also please recomend any excursions/bars/resturants/local companies etc you think a mid twenties couple would appreciate.
Hiya
Looking for the whole package then Tsilivi is the
place. We stayed at Planos Bay Apartments in July 2004 and done
the island tour too. We had an absolutely fantastic time and we
have booked the same 2 weeks in the same place, can't wait!! Food
is the best abroad I have sampled so far. Not done the waterparks
yet so welcome comments on that.
The friendly nature of the locals seemed to rub off on most of the tourists too. See you soon Tsilivi!!

Hiya!
We go to Zakynthos every year, and our favorite beach is Tsilivi. IF anyone needs to rent a flat for a couple of months, wehave one available 300 m from the beach, with a small garden at Tsilivi. Please reply nick.papageorgis@verizon.net. Thanks, Joann
Went to Tsilivi last September, stayed in the Med, and my favourite bar was the Ark,the guys there are lovely and its great craic most nights, we went to other bars but always ended the night in the ark. There is a lovely place to eat by the beach towards the speedboat jetty, over looking the water but you will come across beautiful places to eat all over the island, taxis are also very cheap. The speed boat trip we took with Captain Sipros was brilliant. We stopped off at a lovely restaurant in one of the bays on the way back from the shipwreck, listening to the waves lapping of the side of the boat and watching the beautiful sunset on the way back was just a magical experience. I would love to return next September.. with a bit of luck I will. Enjoy your holiday!
Had a great time in tsilivi in july 04,returning this year in early june staying at alexandra beach hotel. Anyone stayed there? Whats the weather like in early june?
id just like to say that i love Tsilivi. the beach is beautiful, the bars and resturants are all up to standard and the food is lovely.
Anyone going to Tsilivi in the future can i please recommend The Family Resturant, the staff are lovely and friendly and the food is great, and could i also recommend the Ark Bar or the Kaliva Pub, staff are all friendly, make great cocktails and make you very welcome! The beach is nice and sandy and has a range of watersports that are not particularly noisy. Tsilivi is definately suitable for people seeking a relaxing holiday, with its quiet atmosphere. This year will be my 6th time visiting Tsilivi running, and i will be visiting many more times in the future!
Could anybody let me know if there are any buses running from Tsilivi to Skinari, as me and my boyfriend would like to do a day trip to Kefalonia but dont want to do it by the reps or on a day excursion as this can be expensive. I hear the ferry across is only 4 euros. I know there is a bus going from Zante Town to Skiari but wasnt sure if it went through any of the other resorts many thanks
Tsilivie are for all ages, you will love it - we are 55 and 59 years old, and have been there 5 times.
Whatever you want, you can get it, nice peacefull, bars and music, and the best beach.
You will love it
Thomas
teresa you have no problem for get the blackpool comments
there are plenty of quiet areas
Hi i have just booked a holiday to Tsilivi for july 3rd and am sooo excited. I have never been to Zante before but have been to other greek islands and they were great. Me and my boyfriend are going and really wanted a relaxing holiday but with a good selection of restaurants and bars, so this resort sounds ideal. Could anyone please let me know if there is any bicycle rental places. Many thanks Lindsay
Oh no, what have I done. Just booked a 2 week trip to Tsilivi and thought I would read up on the comments made. Im slightly worried now because of all the comments about mini Blackpool. Im going with family (aged 50, 48, 40, 36, 18 & 17). Sounds great for the 2 teenagers but what about the oldies. They really wanted a relaxing holiday with some breath taking views and some of the old Greece. Can anyone tell me whether I am making a mistake, should I change the booking? Please help.

Hiya, Me and my Boyfriend are going to Tsilivi on the 2nd June 2005 for a week with another couple and we were just wondering how busy it will be around then? We are going for a good time and lots of alcohol so is here a good choice of evening entertainment? Any recommended bars? restaurants? I've heard there are good boat trips - which ones are best? Thanks to anyone who can answer my questions!!!
Hiya,i have been to both Kalamika and Tsilivi, have to say Tsilivi is best by far! Tsilivi has a bigger selection of resturants and bars. The peoplpe are very friendly and the resort is clean. I felt Kalamaki is suited more to older couples needing a relaxing holiday, sitting by the pool all day! I has in Kalamaki for 3 weeks and never saw 1 turtle!! I am hoping to go back to Tsilivi this year again.
Nicola xx
tsilivi was really gd id recommend it 2 any1 !!!!
hi there, me and my beautiful wife to be are hoping to come to zante ! we've been recommended Tsilivi by a friend. but we originally fancied Kalamaki cos of the turtles :-) would love to hear what anyone thinks of both places. thanks paul and em x x x x
we visited Tsilivi for the 1st time in September 2004,our 3rd time to Zante. We loved everything about the resort, beautiful beach, great restaurants. We ate out every night for two weeks and were spoiled for choice and never had a bad meal.We stayed at the Mavrikos Hotel and had a fantastic time, our two daughters aged 10 and 5 loved every minute of the holiday.I can't believe some comments i've read about Tsilivi!!we can't possibly have stayed in the same resort as some of the people who have posted comments on this site!As for the couple who said Tsilivi was like 'Blackpool with sun' Did they walk around with a guide dog!
I would recommend anyone to go to Tsilivi,to go to Zante,it is a beautiful island and we can't wait to go back.
Oopps, Im under my mums name below! Im Vicky, Helenas my mum, she'll be chuffed if people think shes 19!!
Hi Toni. I have been to Tsilivi 3 times and Im a 19 year old girl. I love the place and cant wait to go again, am tring to persuade my boyfriend to come with me this time!! you say you want a child free place, well Tsilivi is for families and couples, however, most of the children are tucked away in bed come 11 when your half way to being drunk!! I would reccomend Tsilivi to you and your partner although the Zante Maris I have not stayed at. if its the one on the beach I have seen it and it is beautiful! If you go to Tsilivi, try and visit the planos area, here there are more bars then down in the main part of Tsilivi, where the restaurants tend to be situated. Over all, Tsilivi is the best place to holiday by far, give it a try, you never know!! I hope this helps!!
We are a young (ish) couple of 28 and we are thinking of going to Tsilivi for our first Greek holiday! We are thinking of booking to stay in the Zante Maris Hotel in August this year - I've heard mixed reviews about it though. We want somewhere relatively child free, close to tavernas and bars etc. Is this the place for us or can anyone recommend somewhere better??
Hi im going to Tsilivi at the end of June with 3 friends. We are wanting to go into Laganas some nights but were wondering if the taxi's are safe to use. I know this might sound a stupid question but please bear in mind we're four girls ages 17 and 18. Any help you be great thanks.
tsilivi is fantastic clean safe even at night a much nicer resort than kalimaki that is situated at the end of the runway to the main airport. have been to tsilivi once and are going back in july 2005 for another 3 weeks.
First visit going to be to Zante in May 05, cant make up my mind whether to go to Kalamaki or Tsilivi. 2 females (30s) like not too big resort and a few lively and quiet bars. Bit of both really.(not clubs) Is Tsilivi more geared towards families and young couples? Any info would well be appreciated.
Does anyone know what happened to Simon and Lucy and their daughter Ella from Cradiff in Wales. They were big fans of the Ark Bar and worked over there for a sesaon a couple of years ago. We've got their old telephone number but they've moved. Has anyone heard from them?
My boyfriend and I returned from a very enjoyable holiday in Tsilivi last month. There were lots of nice restaurants and friendly bars. We have been to a few Greek Islands before but Zante was by far the most friendly. The beach was nice and clean. Before we booked we were unsure whether to stay in Tsilivi or Argassi but after hiring a car and going to all the resorts we definately though Tsilivi was the best! We did not want to come home to rainy Scotland!!
we have just got back from tsilivi and stopped at the mavrikos apartments we really enjoyed are self there it was are first time to zante and would go back as the people are so friendly and great with the children especially in family restaurant george and peter were so good with my kids even though they were tied at meal times they soon cheered them up hello to everyone we meet at the mavrikos you could not forget us as we were in a group of 11 hope to come back soon
we stayed at the planos apts in tsilvi, the people we met there were really friendly and the staff were brilliant, laura what can i say we had a ball especially on our last night there, you were so gobsmacked, bless.anyone staying here in the next two weeks tell her vicki and chris said hi.Try the food at the calypso its a bit of a trek but worth it!
My husband and I have just come back from spending a lovely week at the Park Hotel in Tsilivi. It was our first visit to the island and we hired a scooter for 3 days and managed to see most of the countryside from the mountains to the beaches and even suprized a couple of friends ,who have been living and working there for 2 years,by dropping in to the bar where they work .The weather was brilliant and the views outstanding.we also booked an island coach tour for 10 euros which was well worth it because we learnt about the folk law and history .nice sandy beaches, blue sea and safe bathing for the families.
This was our first time to Zante and we enjoyed this resort very much.
Hired a car and went round the whole Island, this convinced us we had picked the best resort and the best hotel on the Island.
Lots of good resturants and cocktail bars. Friendly safe and laid back.
2 weeks just eating, drinking, sightseeing and chilling. Who could ask for more.
We visited Tsilivi for the first time this summer for a week. We enjoyed the trip however,we would like to sing the praises of 2 resturants in particular 1. Fat Olives - the Food was lovely & the owners were friendly, hardworking & enthusiastic. We went back 3 times once we discovered it! Nothing was too much trouble we wish them all the best for the future & if we return to Zante we will be heading for Fat Olives again to work through the menu! 2. The Ole Vineyard - whilst it was off the beaten track the food & service was great - try the fresh fish! We also, throughly enjoyed the massage on the beach - great value for money! In addition, we liked the Jeep trip with Zakfari & we loved being beach bums for a week, to name but a few of our highlights.
My wife June and I have been coming to Tsilivi since 1994. We absolutely love the place. The people are always friendly and generous towards you. Our favourite place to eat is Manos grill. We knew Mano and Maria before they opened the restraunt. We always hire a scooter from Maria`s brother, Dimitri. I would recommend the island to anyone, it`s beautiful. Our ambition is to live there, if we win the lottery that is. If not, well we`ll just have to make do with two weeks of the year.
It was our first time in Tsilivi in June 2004 and we have already booked for 2005. The village itself is lovely and there are bars and restaurents to suit all tastes.
Further to my other comments below – I forgot to mention the airport. Quite honestly the experience at the airport on the return flight ruined the holiday (and this was a view echoed by others who we spoke to) and until the airport is sorted out we would NOT recommend the Island despite recommending the resort. The airport is totally inadequate for the number of flights that are scheduled and I really am surprised that the Tour Operators have scheduled so many flights for the same day. Even a bit of common sense could alleviate some of the problem. We had to queue (along with about 1500 other people) outside in the Midday sun for 2 hours just to check in and then once checked in you then had to join another for a similar length of time to get through passport control. It was only because our flight started boarding whilst in the Passport control queue that we managed to jump this queue in order not to miss our flight home! The tour reps (Thomas Cook) keep us completely in the dark and provided no information about queue length or times or even when we could check in – quite frankly appalling communication from them. A second terminal is under construction so hopefully this will improve things. I can only imagine it must be hell in the height of the season with kids having to queue in that heat for so long and I’m amazed people didn’t suffer from heat stroke.
We stayed here from the 26/09 to 03/10 and had a very enjoyable break. Unfortunately the resort is geared towards the archetypal British holiday maker with over 70% of bars showing football seven days a week. As you would imagine most of the shops sell cheap tat and have more fake (badly faked!) Burberry and other ‘designer’ clothing that any chav or chavette could ever want. Having said that, the atmosphere is relaxed and despite football being on all the time the bars are very friendly. The beach is very good (though a little dirty) and is safe for families as the sea remains very shallow for about 100 metres. Overall we would recommend the resort for a relaxing holiday (didn’t once experience drunken yobs), though don’t expect a traditional Greek village or culture.
hey there kelly parker the red lion pub is gud 4 kids there is a water park a taxi ride away but the reps will book that 4 ya if u ask them it should cost ya about 10 euro,s only any more u ave been done. cannot remember the name of resturant but if ya walk down you will find on the left hand side a chinese and indian restaurent combined opposite is an english owned place that sells food and its bloody lovely well any way hope u ave a ball c*m back on the site when u get home tell us all about it xxxxx

The bars are great one in particular Roscos!! We had many good nights there in the 2 weeks we stayed in the Planos Bay Apartment they were beautiful and the pool was great. Were going back there on 29.9.04 only for a week but we are planning on really enjoying ourselfs, so if any other young people are on there way out there drop us an email. Tsilivi is great!!!!!!
