Just want to let you all know that we had THE MOST AMAZING time at Cavo Doro and will DEFINATELY be returning.
Big shout out to all the staff, were all fantastic and couldn't do enough for you!!The staff at the bars here are fantastic and we had many a good night in there. However, whilst they are very clean, the rooms are tiny. We had two adults ands a seven year old in a room that was clearly meant for two people. There was about two foot around the two single beds and the camp bed my son slept on. We had our things all over the floor for a fortnight as there was insufficient space. Also, we had leaking air conditioning, the studio was flooded by the shower and half the lights didn't work. We asked the rep to sort it but she didn't seem bothered so we sorted it ourselves. It was also very noisy at night. OK for couples but no good for families.
hey,me n my 7 friends r headin to cavo doro on 15th september.have been to laganas before and absolutely love it.if your headin out round this time email me maevy@hotmail.co.uk
We have just come back from Kalamaki and we had a brilliant time. The apartment was great, it had everything we needed, they were very clean and in a good location. The staff were really friendly and the man over the road in the gift shop 'Dejavu' was lovely, he never complained when my kids smashed something. We wished we were still there, sick of the rain already
stayed at the cavo doro block g5 room 402 for 2 weeks was very pleased with the room and the views were fantastic.only problem was 54 steps to our room as we were on the top floor and there were no lifts which is not good when carrying heavy suitcases or when youve had a drink or 3 .didnt use the pool as the parasols could not be moved or adjusted and the pool bar was dead.but only 2mins from the beach which was beautiful.cavo doro bar best bar in the resort ackis and yannis make you most welcome and this is an ideal sports bar as loads of tellys. busiest bar in kalamaki. evening entertainment very good gets everyone involved and creates a good atmosphere. thanks for a great time.
FANTASTIC!! Just returned from Zante after staying in the Cavo D'oro SC and it was lovely. Great people. John and Akis hello from Helen and Jo! We will be back next year, or late this.
Thanks for a great holiday xxxJust stayed at the Cavo d oro for the last two weeks, it was lovely
Hi everybody,
A big shout out to anybody who has stayed at Cavo D'Oro. My better half and I will be travelling to Kalamaki on the 13th September 2007. Anybody with an unbiased comment about this hotel/apartments could they please put them up here as the comments we have read so far seem to vary considerably from the appalling to the venerable jewel in Zakynthos' crown. As you can imagine we are a trifle trepidatious about actually going now so any views will be gratefully appreciated. Cheers for your time Daz & Wendy Singleton-Thompson. (Not as stuck up as the name suggests!!!).
Hello everybody!!!!! Have stayed here for thge past 2 holidays and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Big hello to Teresa on reception, harry in the pool bar, maggie and yiannis in the front bar i miss you all!!!!!!!!!
Have booked to stay again for two weeks starting 5th July Will be on my own as my mates cant afford to come so if theres anybody there at the same time who wants to meet up then let me know lisab26@hotmail.co.uk Found the rooms basic but they are great for what you need, you dont spend your holiday in your room!!!!! Friendly staff, good location, only 5 minute taxi ride into laganas, food is good and hotel clean and tidy.I went to cavo doro back in june
i must say some comments are not good for this place which is a shame cos we have booked for next year.was looking forward to it as kalamaki is a lovely place we have just returned from there,we stayed at dennys in that was great,we wanted to go back there but the prices were double last years
loved the place to bit's.
My wife, myself and our 4 year old daughter have just returned from the Cavo Doro from where we escaped on 28th September. When I say escaped that is exactly what it feels like, in fact if we hadn't been on the second floor of our block we would have tried digging a tunnel to escape earlier! The front entrance to the "hotel" is never shown in the brochures, imagine a run down off licence in a poor part of your town and you might be getting close. The rooms are dark, dismal, under equipped (two electric rings of no confidence) and very, very cramped. Blood stains abound from previous prisoners battles with the persistent Mosquito's. No television, no toaster, no kettle, I have heard of self catering before but that is a bit extreme. Paper thin walls do not mask even the tiniest sounds from the adjoining apartments, please pray that the neighbours don't eat a dodgy curry! Would we go back? Only with a crane equipped with a dirty great wrecking ball!
We were surprised by our daughters, they booked & paid for us to go to the Cavo Doro for a week from sept 4th to 11th 2006, we usually stay at Antonis, so were a little bit wary, however, we were in G5, room 311, I was very apprehensive, but in fact I was pleasantly surprised, nice room, balconies from lounge & bedroom, problem with loo on arrival, this was corrected immediately. Yes it was set back, but we got used to this. Harry's bar was always empty, but we'd been to the resort on several occasions so it didn't bother us. We had loads of other places to have our nightly entertainment. We found the staff in the sports bar were really nice, helpful & accommodating. We didn't hire air con until we'd been there a few days, when we did it dripped all night, but this was put right eventually. The only thing I can say is a complete rip off is the price we paid to keep our room (as we were an early morning flight). We were charged 40 euros, we were told this was to pay the "early morning cleaners" (if that's what they are paid i'll show my ass in burton's window...lol), it only cost us that much to hire a car for two & half days from Merlis, & we took ourselves to the airport, saving 10 euros taxi fare. I can sympathise with people who stayed in other blocks as they didn't look as nice as G5, but can't say what the interiors were like. One word of warning, if you leave towels on balcony chairs, beware of flying fags from upper floors, one of my decent towels was burnt by one of these & ruined. But on the whole, a pleasant stay.
Just got back from the cava doro thurs.Well what a 2wk holiday we have just had.We stayed in room 205 in the new block a one bedroom apartment for 4 it wasnt big enough for 3 never mind 4 we had sea view which was ok the walls are so thin that you can hear everything from people running up and down corridors in the middle of the night to poeple being sick in the apartment above us. The maid who cleaned our room was ok but only left one toilet roll per day, not enough for 4 people we had to buy are own. There was blood stained walls were mosquitoes had been splatted and was never cleaned off.We had a few down pours of rain and when it rained it flooded the whole of the apartments the patio doors let rain in.The pool was to small with the sun loungers right up to the edge of the pool and to close to the next one thats ok if you dont mind being like a sardine. These apartments are classed as 3 star in the brochure more like 2 star. They are very dirty and wont be reccomending these to anyone. This was are first time in kalamaki and its the last they should have called it Crapamaki.
Just got back on Thursday. Want to say thanks to Theresa on Reception especially for all your help before the holiday.
Following comment by Martin Hudson ...... Myself and my boyfriend stayed at the Cavo D'oro app's with my parents and little sister. When arriving we were all at shock at the appearence of the appartments, it looks just like a bar from the front and nothing to what we were use to. All of the photos we have viewed on the internet are misleading as they are taken from the back of the apartments, there is none from the front and nothing to indicate this was the case ..... another dissapointing thing is when we eventually found our room it was tiny, hardly any space to move especially when the suitcases where there and we had to share a balcony with next door! The bedding was changed everyother day and the blankets we were provided smelt foisty as though someone had urinated on them and they had not been washed . Although we were B&B we had a toaster and a kettle which i thought unusual, especially when my parents were self-catering and they did not have none of this.
Well, just got back last night and all I can say is what a poor holiday we have just had. For starters the room was tiny, 2 adults and 1 child with no room to move around. Its all well and good people saying "you only sleep there" er, what about getting changed in the morning or getting ready to go out in the evening? We did not get a kettle in our room, strange when you are self-catering, so we asked our rep. He told us its the way the contracts had been done this year and if we wanted one we would have to hire it...errr no, I don't think so. Our eldest daughter was staying there too in another room on bed and breakfast, they got a kettle and toaster . We used 2 bottles of bleach in the toilet, just to get rid of the (many) previous guests stains and dirt . I guess you can imagine what the cleaning was like, our maid was one of the laziest people we have ever met. Her idea of sweeping the floor was to waive a brush at it from the doorway. The balcony was not swept in the full 2 weeks we were there .
sorry we stayed in 216 g4
Just got back from 2 weeks in g4 206. This room was very basic but it was enough for the two of us. However the toaster seemed to be faulty but we did not need it as breakfast at deppys is a must. The swimming pool was fine but some of the sun beds have seen better days - i lost count of how many times they collapsed. Harry's bar was ok for a drink if by the pool but not that cheap and at times ir seemed like it was too much trouble. The cavo doro supermarket was great and had every thing we needed. Niko and family were lovely however the monkey got annoying over two weeks saying the same thing. If returning to kalamaki we now know cavo doro is a no no evem though it was in a great location.
for the people who want the email address it is.....
has anyone got an email add for this hotel??? my email add is sexybecks20@hotmail.com -- please post on here or email. thank bex
Can anyone please help me.. i am going to these apartments in september, and i was wondering if anyone had an email address for this hotel??
are there easy to find cash point machines in kalamaki
we stayed at the rear end of the complex in the self catering rooms at back ot the pool bar area, it was great, very quiet at night times plenty of space clean at all times maid was in most days first time we stayed in this block and we were all well impressed rooms were good size and clean, beds were single but comfortable great for time you spend in there, all staff were polite and friendly teressa the manageress is english and a diamond very friendly, was expecting to see nancy as she was there last time we visited 2004, the pool is clean and well run with a great menu day and night also has a baby pool, harry is a great guy (for a liverpool supporter) see you all next year. and thanks for every thing
We were at the Cavo Dora 24 July for 2 weeks in G5. We had no complaints. Everone was really friendly reception, front bar staff, entertainment organisers, (never went in Harry's he always seemed miserable)supermarket next door, Dennis in the souvenier shop. We would go back tomorrow.
just come bacj frm the cavo doro, and after reading all the bad comments,we did however email the hole befor going and we were given a lovly new room...very basic but who wnats more, who goes on holz 2 stay in d room init!in room 107 (g5) coudnt complain,,there was some nosie however frm the neighbours!the hotle has a lovly pool could do with being a little bigger, however dont use the pool bar as there is no good service!us the cavo doro bar in the hotle, excellent family service!maggie rules d entertainemnt!!!
We got back yesterday after 2 weeks at the Cavo Doro.Had a brilliant apartment in the block at the back with 2 balconies, basic but clean but all that we needed. The maid was quick and cheerful but was a bit earkly some days after a late night out!!!
When we arrived knackered from a flying through the night it was horrible to arrive to a really dirty room,(bedding stained , dirty floors, shower plug full of peoples hair!) which was tiny and very very basic, how you are even expected to make snacks in the room is difficult to imagine!- poor in regards to what we were expecting.(I have stayed in Greece twice before by the way and am aware of standards there!) We took photos for evidence and am complaining to tour company now back in UK, (the room was re-cleaned straight away after we complianed to be fair to the hotel.) However our toilet seat was broken, the bed broke when i sat on it (I am only 8 stone by way), kitchen facilities were tiny .Oh and the shower soaked the whole bathroom, toilet rolls and towels included and floor became VERY slippy. Everything about the Hotel is very basic, the room, the pool. However location is good, restaurants and bars in kalamaki are good, location is close to Laganas if you want a bit of a party! oh Milos restaurant is excellent, ate there four times and food was brill every time. Parthenon was good too.Mermaids was poor even though had read good reports on here. Went once and the food was cold decided to give it a second try but was cold again.
nevr went 2 d pool coz it was full of d english n couldnt handle em so went 2 d beach all day n its reaaly close pub is good but 2 much bingo n karaoke is good they wake you up at like 10:00 in d morning to clean (wwwaaaaaaayyyyyy 2 early) loadsa ants in d balcony aswell but is good otherwise
Hi all
We have stayed in Cavo d'oro twice now and I have to say that this year it was nowhere near as nice. When we went 3 years ago we were in the block right at the back of the complex with a lovely big balcony to ourselves which overlooked the bay. This year we were in an appartment just behind the reception area and the reception bar, we had a tiny balcony to share with next door and the noise level was awful. On three occasions we had to go down and complain about the noise at 2:30 am because our 5 year old daughter was trying to sleep. The pool is quite nice but not big enough for the hotel (most of the sunbeds were full and there was no chance of a sunshade which we really needed for the little one). The breakfasts were very poor (bread roll and cheese, cornflakes and thats about your lot). We went over the road to Deppy's every morning. We'll be going back to Kalamaki because we love the place but we wont be staying in Cavo D'oro again.
ANNA,
Hi everyone another question i ahve read quite alot about the air port is it really as bad as people make out??????
Thank you for your comments they are much appreciated in your opinions how do you rate the rooms?
ANNA IT IS FANTASTIC YOU WILL LOVE IT, AS FOR WALKING TO LAGANAS IT IS ABOUT 50 MINS WALK OR 4 MINS IN A TAXI WHICH WILL COST YOU ABOUT 7 EURO'S IF YOU WALK YOU CAN WALK ALONG THE BEACH WHICH IS A NICER WALK AS THE ROAD GO'S ON FOR EVER AND IS VERY HOT AT THE TIME YOU ARE GOIN.
Hi i am travelling in 27 days ( 21st August) with my fiance and i was just wondering if the accomadation is ok from people that have stayed there many times. I am so looking forward to it ................... can anyone tell me how far it is to walk to lagunas if it is possible.

can anyone tell me how much the air conditioning is at the cava doro
10 of us returned from the Cavo Doro on July 10th and we had the times of our lives. We all had good apartments situated in the "new block" at the back of the complex. The air con was great and the rooms were clean and we had no probelms with bugs etc.
Great pool bar and main bar/resturant at the front! The greek waiter was a laugh trying to teach us all Greek when we were slightly tipsy!
The pool and surrounding area's are fine, and we spent most of our days around there relaxing until 7/8pm
Definately would go back again! Loved it!
Here are a few pics i took of the pool area, our block and the surrounding area's.....

I'm going to the Cavo Doro Apts on 14 Sept 2006, I'm slightly concerned about what we'll find! If anyone has been recently please let me know if its as bad as some are saying. I'm not expecting the Ritz as its Greece but I don't really want to be sharing my room with bugs and mould!
all the staff at the cavo doro are excellent with the exception of harry. What a miserable man, doesnt like children at all, so dont recommend it if you have lively kids. Theresa the manager is fantastic cant do enough for you. The best part is the front bar run by Alison and Akis, such a fantastic couple they made our stay there just the best. The entertainment was fantastic with Maggie funny lady. We recommend Alison and Akis should have the pool bar maybe then we would have had what you expect on holiday, bar-b-cues round the pool, Greek nights (harry advertised them, but in 2 weeks we never seen any entertainment at the pool bar ). Such a waste of a pool bar..
natalie, havent stayed here but have visited and found it good. we are just down the road in hotel marelen same dates as you . resort is very friendly and the restraunts are the best on zante . parethon , hera and olive tree are great . beach is long sandy and the water is shallow ideal for the kids and you may see the famous loggerhead turtles early evening as they come to the beach to lay their eggs though they are more noticable in mid to late june. email if you wish pm34hc@talktalk.net

Hi Katie,
People have different standards - expectations etc...........try not to read into it too much. Great comments weigh out the bad ( i think)anyway just go and enjoy yourself. As noted on a previous comment YOUR NOT IN YOUR ROOM FOR 2 WEEKS......hahahahahaha
The hotel is fine, great location, nice pool area.
stayed at cavo dora for 2 wks may 2005.liked it that much went again may 2006 and would you believe have booked for may 2007.the rooms were basic but who wants to spend 2 wks in your room.its just to sleep in.harrys bar does the most gorgeous food and cheap, the bar at the front with ali and akis was brilliant.dead friendly atmosphere.the beach is so near and lovely.some nice little shops also, weather was fabulous even though it was start of the season,we went 4th of may.the people in the supermarket were dead happy and helpful.as far as cheap holidays go this was one of the best.we stayed in block g4.room 114 and because we were first in it was extremely damp and cold for the first week.so take your dressing gown..xx
hiya - we are from leeds and travellin from manchester airport july 6th for 2weeks to the appartment cavo doro- we never been here b4 but have been to kalamaki twice in the past and found it very enjoyable- this year we are going away with 2 16year old girls but hopeing to have a relaxing holiday has the girls will b doing there own thing and out and about till late morning - cya round the pool and hope to cya there soon xxx
just got back from kalamaki yesterday and stayed at the cavo doro self catering, there was 4 of us the room was excellent and maid service was next to none. very clean and tidy and clean bedding about 3/4 times per week.
Just returned from a week at Cavo Doro.It started off badly, given room 109 in G5.Opened th door to the ground floor apartment there was about 20-30 mosquitos, numerous beetles, woodlouse and a cockroache. One of the spotlights in the bathroom was dangling down about a foot. The tap in the kitchen sink came off in my hand and it was also dripping constantly. After spending a fortune on cleaning products and trying to stop insects coming in we complained to our Rep Keith (who was very friendly and helpful) and we changed rooms to 305 overlooking the pool.We then went from hell to halfway to heaven, the room was basic, small but free from insects a decent view and we were happy.
This will be our 5th year in Kalamaki and we visit Harry every year. He has always been absol.utely brilliant to us and our son - so much so that Daniel can't wait to see him every year. Its always one of our first places to visit and we have spent many great nights in his bar. His mama is great fun - speaks no English but very effective with the whistle!!
Stayed at this hotel in 2004, going back to Zante in July for a couple of weeks but staying at Crystal Beach. Can someone tell me if it's the same family running the supermarket next door to Cavo Doro hotel mum dad and 3 daughters. They are fantastic, happy people always willing to help you. When I first arrived at the Cavo doro hotel, popped into the supermarket to buy some drinks etc.......... their mum was speaking to me in greek, of course i had to stop her and tell her i was english........she looked surprised, made my day........ throughout our holiday they always made us feel welcome , even on passing during the evening. So if anyone knows let me know. Hey.........................enjoy yourselves, you'll love it.
Hi, We've just come back from Cavo Doro (17/6/6). We stayed in the block out the back (G5) which was fine for the three of us (Two adults - One child.) We tipped the maid on 3 occasions and she looked after us very well. Pool is nice, kept clean and in orderly fashion. Impressed. Harry in Harry's bar has to be one of the most miserable Greeks I've ever met! The Cavo Doro bar in the front however, was a great spot. The couple who run it Akis and Alison do a great job and the staff are fantastic. My daughter who is 12 and a half was taken to their hearts and she was very unhappy to leave.
Me and my boyf came back from Kalamaki on Friday, stayed at Cavo Doro - what can i say i think you guys have covered everything! I agree with you - small and very very basic but it could have been worse!! Also I wasnt going to say anything about Harry as I thought it was just me, but he was really moody!!! Maybe he had something on his mind! Well at least i know it wasnt just me then!!!
stayed in cava d'oro in may for one week and the accommendation as it was very basic and in the batheroom it holes in the ceiling and the shower didn't work properly. yet the best thing that we enjoyed was kalamaki the town with the taverns. there was a cocktail bar which was excellent the name of the bar was the saffari, it's run bar a young brittish couple. it was a good friendly atmosphere.
Just got back today from these apartments and I have to say to anybody whose worried about going there to just enjoy it because we stayed 2 weeks and never had any problems what so ever.
this is the first time for me and my family going to kalamaki. looking forward to going .flying out on the 14.9.06 from manchester staying at the cava doro
me my wife and our two kids stayed at cavo doro in may last year, the facilities were great the staff great and zante and its inhabitants are truly great.plenty to see and do,the best tip i can give is not to expect luxury but expect to meet genuinly nice and helpfull people, hire a car find a deserted spot and bask in some of the most beautiful surroundings;as for harry you will find him a cheeky, helpfull, mischeivous and very kind person.settle down to watch the latest film release at 9pm and dont be surprised to see harry going round the tables getting everyone a free drink.
I have a 15yr old girl and a 16yr old son have any of you that go to the appartments regularly any trips that you think is a must for us.
Hi we have not been yet but the info from the internet and people who have been appears very good. We are flying from Newcastle upon tyne on the 20th July so see you there possibly
Yes, it's true. The Cavo d'oro now has a small area sectioned off as a baby pool.
HI dorothy cameron, You will love these apartments they have all you need, bed's - fridge - basic cooker - air conditioning and the maids are in every 2 day's. The pool bar is Harry's bar with a great size pool and also a baby pool for this year. BEST FULL ENGLISH ON ISLAND.....And also a great menu for the rest of the day and night. If this your first time you will be delighted i assure you, we have been going back for years and will be there this june 29th till 13th july ALL 13 OF US, Harry is a fantasic host who you will love, he love's every1 young and elderly alike.some people just like to moan remember it's your holiday you work hard all year for it so enjoy.........
Hi. Dont worry. You will have a great time. We stayed there on our 1st visit to Kalamaki. Rooms are small but there is a new block which apparantly is a lot more spacious. Harry at the Pool Bar is fantastic and even though we now stay at the Venus as we've been getting good deals, we can't wait to visit Harry each time we return.

we have just returned from 2 weeks at the cavo doro. i have to say that it was a bit dissappointing. the rooms were very basic, with little more than beds and a wardrobe. we were told that the hotel was good for kids and although the bar staff were brill with them, there was nothing in the way of entertainment. the pool was far too deep for the kids, my oldest is 8, and could barely keep her head above water.so the younger two couldnt even go in the water without somebody carrying them. they have computer games in the reception area, but again not suitable for young children. i would say that the cavo doro is not ideal for people with children under 12. on the whole the hotel is clean but very basic, and i would not return while my children are so small.
