Parts of the beach are good, mainly to the left of the concrete jetty....However beware of under water objects such as lumps of concrete to the right of the jetty...Quite a few fag butts lying around. The local council should clear the beach at the end of each day & keep it tidier....The water is warm & slow shelving so great for kids...
i found alikes very good beach would deffo go back i loved it and my 3 young children loved it water was so clear better than our beaches lol and it is good for all age groups my parents in 50s they loved it and see many people older enjoying lazing in the sun
The beach is filthy- covered in ciggy ends and rubbish. the sea is lovely and safe swimming as stays shallow for quite a distance.
We stayed at the beach house 11 and it was wounderful. The accomdation was very clean and the owners very friendly and helpful. The beach was perfect for our 18 month old daughter as it was sloping and very shallow. The only thing that let the resort down was the food, everything came with chips. The Manos rep called Jean, was the most horrible and unhelpful women who ran over a cat infront of us and thought nothing off it. I Would definatly go back to the beach house but will be writing about the lovely jean to Manos. Thank you vicki and spiros.
Were staying at the Beach House II in September 04 and was woundering how safe the sea is for a 16 month old? I ask this as there are a few comments about the nibling fish.
the sea was so warm it was like bath water amazing!!! (a few waves on a windy day) dont stand still for too long as the tiny fish nibble at your feet (its fun though) 2 sun beds and a brolly all day for 7 euros, if you need a snack or a drink pop in to the papros beech bar cracking toasties and friendly staff,
the only bad thing about the alikes beach was it looked more like
a ash tray some days (oh well they'l get lung cancer) and one other
thing why dont people leave their smelly dogs at home when they go on
holiday (they must of been german) HAVE FUN YOU LUCKY PEOPLE !!!!!
OK.the beach does have the odd fag end lying around.especially
where there are no standing umbrellas(each equipt with ashtray)
s for dog poo.....er no couldn't find any..not near the paporo
beach bar anyway. oh and those cute little fish that suck your
toes......RIP YOUR ANKLES OFF MORE LIKE!!! JEEZ!! Thug fish
we christened them!!
little tiny things no bigger than2" and wow can they rip your skin
off!!!
seriously, if you have any blisters or scabs on your feet or ankles
, they will rip them off!! its true!! had some blisters from a new
pair of trainers so thought I'd go and have a paddle let the salt
water heel etc.. when WHAM!!... OOOO YA F... MANY A DAY
SPENT DASHING IN TILL IT WAS DEEP ENOUGH TO SWIM.
THEN DASHING OUT WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GET OUT.
HOWEVER IF YOUR FEET ARE FINE THEN YOU HAVE NO
WORRIES. ENDED UP WITH PLASTERS COVERING THE
GAPING WOUNDS!!! LAST TIME I LOOKED DOWN THE LITTLE
SWINES HAD A CROWBAR ON THE EDGE OF THE PLASTER!!!Apart from that it's lovely. snorkeling was good not much to see
except at the pier. but watch out for the fishermen. they don't like
you snorkelling on the river side of the pier.
ok ok maybe the fish weren't that bad but it was funny!!
HIRED A CAR FOR THREE DAYS N WENT HERE.AMAIZING SEA, VERY WARM N U FLOAT ON THE TOP OF IT.
GOOD BEACH GOOD SEA GOOD SAND
Having previously holidayed in Lassi on Kefalonia and experienced fabulous beaches we expected similar on Zante at Alikes. We were not disappointed. The beaches at Alikes are fantastic - beautiful snad which gently slopes into the sea. Choose a section of the beach with not very many pebbles and your laughing all the way! When renting the sunbeds and parasol for the day you also get a patio style chair and a small table - excellent value.
sf is at it again with her comments stay at home next time dear you must have gone on your own i cant see any bloke putting up with unless hes a twin. This beach was the best on the stretch just by the astoria.Great for snorkeling just around the jetty. Sea was warm
and the beach was clean this is ideal for kids. there is a little shop in the town (alikes) the last but one on the left on the way to alakayas that sells fishing rods for 8 euros includes a reel small hooks 0.30e use bread/ham it will keep the kids amused all day well worth it even i caught 10 fish. If oyu need any advice on the island speak to alan/debbie the golden dolphin trips to the caves/shipwreck they were also fantastic with the kids
the beach was fantastic for the children, the water was shallow and very warm but quite salty.we had great fun trying all the different watersports on the beach. plenty of bars and sunbeds but we liked the palm tree best.
we thought the beach was very mucky, full of cigarette ends and dog poo. the sea was lovelly but the fish really do suck on your feet
Rob from the watersports is great! We met him in heatwave bar and he bought us loads of drinks! Cheers for getting us smashed!
Emma and Claire
Hot white sand (need to wear your sandals!), crystal clear water (very salty though!), safe swimming but mind the little fish nipping at your toes! Bis bar is a must for a nice cold drink (or ice cream) with very friendly barman. Very relaxing beach, we just loved it!
Fantastic, Sun, sand & sea. BIS BAR just the best, great coffee ,long cool drinks and great compant YAMAS
Ace!
Lovely beach and on a good day swimming in the sea was like taking a bath it was so hot.
Baking hot sand (wear your shoes), nice slow slopping beach, really safe, a bit of a 18-30 place though!
Last week, my wife and I took our two lads paragliding and although it was very enjoyable, the time in the air was only around 5 mins per pair and cost us 90 euros (£60) which I thought was a bit steep compared with last time I did it in Cyprus when we got around 15 mins each for a lot less money.
If your taking kids here, its fantastic. The sand very slowly falls into the sea and you can walk out a long way. Bit of a stoney start, but once past this it's great.
Great beach, lovely clear blue water, and a good stretch of beach, great for relaxing, and enjoyed the Watersports, I tried the banana boat, and the canoes, had a brilliant time!
The centre of the resort has the best sandy beach with gentle slopes into the sea. You can walk out 50 yards or so and still only be in 3 feet of water. You can pick up a boat to see the Blue Caves from the beach and its only costs £8 per head for a 2 hour trip - very good.
Clear warm water..,lovely beach quitee and peaceful.. WELL WORTH A VISIT !
rob who works at the watersprting bit. miss ya! thanks for the drink..s!!!!
Best bit near to the Astoria Hotel - try the beach after 4pm until sunset absolute heaven!
Lovely beach for the kids, with nice mountain backdrop and a decent choice of tavernas.
Ilove Alykes beach it is safe for young ones and the sea is so warm and clear. The sand is just like silk and the view over to Kefallonia is gorgeous.Good choice of tavernas by the beach, my favourite one being Anatolikos for great food and not far to slide back down on to beach afterwards either. Katerina
We've been coming to Greece ever since '82 and Alykes is one of the places we most like outside Australia. There's a great choice of restaurants and bars. The people are very friendly allover the resort.Alykes is a defenite yes, and Skippy's is worthwile paying a visit. Charly & Mini.
