I am travelling to the hotel Venus on the 9th August 2004 with my Wife and 7 Year old daughter, can anyone give me advice regarding the hotel, area, price for safe deposits, aircon, fridge, etc

Carol P

Have just stayed here for 2 weeks. This is an excellent base for a relaxing holiday. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained as is the rest of the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found all the staff very friendly and welcoming.

Gill

We stayed here this August as you can see my comments below, we have now booked to come back next year at end of July. I would recommend it. Only hope the weather will be as good next year as it was this year.

went to the venus in August. Very friendly and clean hotel located about 3 minutes walk from the main street at the junction with Drunk Corner.

Went to kalamaki in 2002 and stayed in the Marelen hotel. Wondered if anyone could give more info about the location of this place...? Thinking of booking for next year, but want to know how far it is from the main street... Don't want to be too close or too far! Thankyou!

Gill

Just returned from sataying here, good, clean hotel all staff very friendly nothing is too much bother. Air con is a must. Pool good size and not too cold but is very deep 3m at deep end. Air craft noise not a problem and the Exotica hotel was quite quiet we got no bother with noise. Beach only few minutes walk down the road, breakfast a bit of a let down but who cares when you are staying in a lovely place.
Will be booking for next summer can't wait.

Sophie L

The best hotel ever. The rooms are really clean, the pool is a fair size and it is not far from the beach or the main street. The staff make this hotel such a great place to visit.
They are always happy to help, especially the cleaners and reseption. The only disapointment was the breakfast because it was very basic, bread, toast, cereal, jams, egg, cake, biscuits, ham and cheese, but it is enough.
A great hotel would like to go back again soon.

Just returned from our second time at The Venus having had a brilliant holiday! Spiros keep practicing with the cocktails they were brilliant especially the one with cream, baileys and drinking chocolate. Loz, Daz and Kirstie say hi by the way! It was like returning home, with everyone remembering us and being so friendly, nothing is too much trouble. A very clean hotel, the pool is excellent as is the snack bar - try the milkshakes they're the best one's I've tasted! Aircraft noise is not a problem, you get used to it and its actually nice seeing all the planes so low overhead. Would certainly recommend the Venus for its friendliness, cleanliness and location, nothing is too far away.

Been to Kalamaki for the last 6 years but been 7 times, we're going back in just over a week, staying at the venus for the first time this year, can ensure all people staying there that the noise from the exotica late at night is bareable as it is usually us!! great bar staff - costas, zoe, nikkos etc all great people, they've become our 2nd family, honestly! Costas even celebrates my birthday every single year with a cake that he buys himself, for me! Also can ensure anyone who is going to kalamaki for the first time that it is a fantastic place and you wont be disappointed!

This is a brilliant hotel. Me and my boyfriend returned from a weeks stay at the hotel venus yesterday and miss it already. I just wish i was back there. The hotel is very clean, rooms are basic but nice and the pool is gorgeous although freezing cold. The rep, kevin, is hilarious especially his laugh. It is a 5 minute walk to the gorgeous kalamaki beach, and you step out of the hotel, walk a few metres and hit bars, restaurants and tavernas. Kalamaki caters for everyone, i would definitely recommend it to couples and families, and also groups of friends. It is also in an excellent location to go to Laganas - it only cost us 6 euros in a taxi right from outside the hotel. I would also recommend the hamburger from the pool bar-nicest one iv ever tasted. There are two supermarkets right outside the hotel too that sells everything you could think of, even heinz baked beins!
This was definitely one of the best holidays ever, I will definitely be returning to Kalamaki and probably choose the hotel venus again.
Thankyou!

Just arrived home from the Venus in Kalamaki, and what can i say? What an absolutly excellent hotel. The staff are very friendly, and the hotel was spotless. You can hear noise from the exotica and from aircraft but it is not intrusive. We could not live without the air conditioning as temperatures reached 46 degrees and the fans just circulated the hot air!!! It is also worth hiring a fridge. All in all a fantastic holiday and we hope to be back in the future. Thank You everyone at the Venus.

PS. Kev the rep is superb the best rep we have ever come across.

Gemma A

hi im gemma 14yrs of age and im going with my dad.im stayin here and by the sounds of the coments i cant wait. im going here on the 18th august and if there is anyone my age with there parents please let me know. also let me know if you know of any good restaurants near by and things to do during the week. thanks.

Matthew B

Just got back from a week at the Venus with my girlfriend. The place was superb! Occasionally we heard a little noise from the kids' club at the Exotica opposite, but it really didn't bother us. Laganas is only a short taxi ride away and would cost about 8 euros. Fridges and air-condititoning are both available at the Venus. Air-con was 40 euros per week, but we didn't bother. Better off with a fan!(20 euros per week).Fridges were 30 euros per week and well worth forking out for! Kevin the Thomson rep was an absolute legend, just wait 'til you hear him laugh...For a good night, go to Zepos for food and go to Down Under for drinks. I certainly would recommend the Venus, i am already contemplating going back next year!

Myself (18) and my boyfriend (21) are staying at the Hotel Venus from July 21st. Are any other couples going this week? Also, have any other young couples stayed at this hotel in the past? Is it suitable for people of our age? How far away from laganas is the hotel? how much would a taxi cost to laganas?
Also, how much does the air conditioning cost, and does anyone know if you can hire a fridge and how much?

Amanda P

Just spent a week at the Venus Hotel with my husband and baby of 6 months and thought it was great. We found it clean, well maintained and everybody really friendly. The pool was lovely with enough sunbeds for everybody. Weren't too impressed with the uncooked chicken nuggets from the snack bar but the salads were okay! Would recommend hiring a fridge and paying for air-conditioning, we went early May and already in need of AC in the room! Thomson Rep Kevin absolutely fab, really friendly and helpful..also has a laugh that is very infectious!! My ONLY complaint was the noise levels late at night within the hotel. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything from outside and inside. Also altho' whilst can hear noise from the Exotica across the road it is NOT obtrusive and is bearable..also the same goes for aircraft noise too...

Lynda F

just returned from Venus Hotel, excellent hotel, very clean, staff all polite. Just a note to Gill, Zante is a beautiful island, I would highly recommend that you hire a car and tour the island you can probably do most of the best sights is two days. If you hire a car through Merlis, they are the cheapest and the cars are really clean. Julie who is the manager there is very helpful and she gives you a map of the island along with recommendations of places to see and what they consist of. Works out a lot cheaper and more fun.

Was on holiday in Sept. Got to admit the best part was the gorgeous rep who kept me entertained all holiday - see you oon lucy

Lee G

The hotel was ok, very clean and the staff were great ,the room was very basic. The noise from hotel exotica across the road was annoying.

Lucy C

James A the aircraft noise is not a problem and I have had no complaints all summer. Hope this helps Lucy

Kerry & Matt

Returned from a two week break at The Hotel Venus just over a week ago. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff friendly. The facilities were quite good especially the pool and poolside snackbar. The location was ideal for the beach and the shops/tavernas/bars - the best of each were Denise's Supermarket, Zakanoh Taverna and The Beer Garden at 'Drunk Corner'. Aircraft noise wasn't a problem, infact the sightings of such low planes remained a novelty throughout the holiday! The amplified noise from Thompson reps. at the Hotel Exotica opposite was much more intrusive, especially of you like to relax by the pool of an afternoon or go to bed before midnight! Overall, a very nice place - we got engaged on Kalamaki Beach at Sunset - very memorable!

James A

Does anyone know whether there is any aircraft noise at all in the Venus hotel? I know some of the hotels in Kalamaki do suffer from it but I don't know about the Venus. Thanks v. much!

Karen M

Clean, friendly and a great location (5mins from beach). Kalamaki has all you could ever want for a perfect holiday, a good mixture of bars, restaurants and supermarkets. We will definately be going back.

Webmaster

It was on www.zanteweb.gr/hotels/venus/index.html, but not anymore!?!

When I request information about the Venus Hotel in Kalamaki only pages showing a logo of the Level Bar appears. Any ideas how I can obtain the info I want.

Joann P

This was the best holiday of my life and the hotel was excellent. The staff were very friendly and there was always something to do if you were bored of the sun etc.Watch a video or chat to the bar staff. The entertainment was good too and was closer than we expected to laganas, which was good as we got the quietness of kalamaki but was in throwing distance of the party areas. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We will definitely be going back in the future !!
