Best Time to Visit

Kim

I came back from Laganas on Monday after a revisit to the island and although i still had a good time, i was disappointed at how "dead" it was. This time of year is best for couples, as it's more quieter. In fact, everywhere I turned there were loved-up people! So if you're 2 single ladies wanting to have a mad week here and meet loadsa new people, i'd recommend coming in June, July or August. September is a great time for you to get away from it all and relax as even the barmen aren't so wild! The weather is still ok-ish, though it was rather stormy last week and there was a massive flood, which resulted in our suitcases floating on the floor! ... and we were 2 storeys up!! Anyway, hope this helps!

James W

Myself and my girlfriend went to Aliakanas for the first two weeks of September (near the Letsos Hotel for the person who enquired - it looked alright, but avoid their supermarket which is very expensive). The weather was very nice with the odd shower but in general it was just very hot with a slight breeze.

The tavernas are all excellent, the beach is fantastic and the bars are quiet but friendly. I suggest to anyone going to take the odd horse and cart ride but always ask if there is a charge for it, to NOT go to Smugglers Cove (the sea is very choppy nearby with most people being sick around us, with no guarentee of getting onto the beach - which is a bit naff anyway) and to use plenty of mosquito repelant. Oh, and watch out for mad drivers if you're going for a walk at any time. They don't just drive on the right you know...

Ian D

Im off to Zante on the 28th of september for two weeks wth the
girlrfiend. Any suggestions of things we should do or see?

Lisa J

We visited Kalamaki, Zante in the first week in September. The climate was absolutely ideal and the resort was not too busy with hardly any children in sight! The nights were warm but cool enough to be comfortable and the sun shone all day, every day. The locals said the nights start to get cooler at the end of September but I would still recommend visiting Zante at this time of year.

Colin F

hi - going to zakynthos on sep 21st also - been to the ionian islands before at that time of the year - weather has always been good - mid 70's upwards. you get the occasional shower but nothing to worry about - all in all prob the best time to go to greece - esp if you are fair skinned or have children

Im looking at going to Alykes in September through to October. I went on to the bank section and found nothing on there, apart from the main towns. Are there any places you can draw money out from service tills ie supermarkets or retaurants/bars? Or is it a case of trav/cheques,cash and credit cards. When in Rome they say, but any good bars showing premiership football?

Hi Ben Watson,
I've been to Tsilivi in Zante twice a year for the last 6 years and I think someone has been pulling your leg. Some of the bars in Tsilivi will remin open until 2/3 in the morning. They also have a couple of discos / nightclubs open until 4/5am You can go on the beach at any time.

I think a lot depends on which resort you're going to.

Ben W

Going to Zante on the 2nd of Sept is it true they
don't let you on the beach and all the clubs
shut at 12?

James W

I'm off to the White House Apartments (Alykanas) with my girlfriend for two weeks starting 31st August. Anyone know what they are like?

Is there enough for two mid-twenty(ish) people to do? I can't be bothered for clubbing every night but need some bars to stay sane!! No offence to families either but is the place over-run with screaming children? And what exactly is air conditioning that you 'pay for locally'? Do we get to hire temps with fans?

Thanks,
James

Lisa

Hello, i am going to be visting Laganas with my boyfriend early Septmeber and we were wondering which Bars & Retaurants to vist? If anyone could respond to lisajane163@hotmail.com, thank you.

Sorry, I ve put my comment in August instead of September, anyway I,ll do it again. Is anyone going to the Antonis beginning of Sepetember with small children? , mine are age 7 and 5 and its the first time abroad for them, it would be nice if there are some kids going their age. Also are there any kettles in the Antonis? Cheers for any responses.

Is there anyone visiting Kalamaki for the first 2 weeks of september. My boyfriend and i are visiting and would like to meet up with other people. Does anyone know what the weather would be like at that time?

A B

FAO: TARA

Laganas is a very lively resort, maybe not exactly what you were hoping for. However I recently stayed in Kalamaki and this probably more what you were hoping for. The good news is that it is a 6-7 euro ride away!! Taxi's run frequently as we used to have the odd night out in Laganas. Kalamaki has lovely resturants and bars - must try the cave bar, get the taxi to take you to the taxi rank in Kalamaki and it is a short walk to where the jeep picks you up to take you. It's a very romantic setting!! Should try Pandesia, Paris and Paolos for dinner v.nice!! So if Laganas is a little too loud for you, sanity is just a short taxi ride away!!!!

Kim

Any of you guys going to Laganas 8th September? If so, email me mik_berley@hotmail.com. I went with 5 mates in June and we had such a good time, we just have to go back again!!

Smith A

hi im gettin married in zante in sept and we are stayin at zenos kamara beach argassi. Can any one suggest where we can go for a romantic meal on our wedding night?

Lesley B

been a couple of times in september, its nice, not uncomfortably hot. can have a little rain, but it doent last long and the thunderstorms are fabulous. oh and might get a little earthquake, something to talk about when you get home! will get a nice tan.

Tracey M

Hi

I stayed at the Mary Apartments/Studios the last week in May and
it was a nice place to stay (apart from the dog barking non stop
in the mornings). Also the owners where very friendly and
helpful. Weather was fantastic (took an umbrella just in case but
never had to use it. Sunbeds at the pool where always available
as well which was great. Was also amazed to see the First
Choice rep at the accommodation quite a lot which was good,
cause usually any other time I've been on my hols I've never
seen them after the first day of my hols.

Anthony F

tara, if you are looking for a quiet resort you may be a little dissapointed! Laganas is the most livrly resort on the island. If you are looking for quiet more traditional locations try alykanas, alikes and amoudi. Laganas is very much a little Ibiza/blackpool type resort.

Stephen H

Hi Tara,
If your hoping for a quiet time in Laganas, then I think you may be dissapointed as it is probably the liveliest of the resorts. Having said that, by September it may have quietend down a bit. If my memory serves me well I'm pretty sure that most if not all of Lagana's night life by law has to shut down at midnight because of local residents.
Lagana is basically one long road leading down to the beach with bars, clubs and resturants either side.

Not my cup of tea, but then I'm not in my twenties any more!

I'm sure you will have a great time.

Have a look at my top tips page below. It may have some points that will be of interest.

Tara P

Im off to Laganas on September 11th with my man & was hoping that someone could let me know if its any good. We are only 26 but are hoping to have a bit of quiet time (eveb though we are going on 18-30's because it was free). Any good spots to visit?
Thanx

Zante Top Tips & Tsilivi

Hello Everyone,
My wife and I have been to Tsilivi five times now, staying each time at 'Zante Palace' apartments. Here is some information that we hope you will find useful based on our personal experience. 'Have A Great Time'

I am assuming you have not been to Zante before.

1. When arriving at Zante airport you will be transferred by coach from the aircraft to the airport where you will pass through passport control onto luggage collection. This always makes me smile because it would be quicker to walk from the aircraft to the terminal, it's so close.
Once inside you will notice straight away how small and very busy it is. I would suggest making your way to the far end of the carousel making sure you stand the building exit door side. It's the last point for collecting luggage before it goes round again but at least you won't have to fight through the crowds to get out.

2. Once outside you will find plenty of taxis waiting on the far side, behind where all the coaches park. If by chance none are waiting, don't worry one will come along in a few minutes, they come and go all day. Just go up and ask for the price to take you your accommodation. It was about £7 - £8 pounds (converted) when we went in October 2001 to Zante Palace, and as you are staying near enough in the same area it should be about the same. This price is for the car, not per person. The Journey takes approx twenty - thirty minutes depending on the driver!. The drivers are all friendly and happy to help.
The thing I like about using taxis are that you beat the coaches to you accommodation so you get checked in nice and quick.

3. The water, not suitable for drinking unless you have very strong stomach. It's.o.k for boiling to make drinks and cleaning teeth but that's about it, and of course showering. Use bottled water which is cheap to buy from the local shop. It will work out even cheaper if you purchase in bulk. Go to the end of the long straight road (town end), turn left and about thirty yards on the left you will find a supermarket selling just about everything. Depending how close you are to Zante Palace apartments there is a small supermarket just below them at the other end of the long road which is very reasonable.
If your accommodation has a fridge, put your bottle of water in the ice box. Although it will turn into the largest ice cube ever, it will gradually thaw out when your out and about giving you a cold refreshing drink for a good part of the day.

4. Power Supply, 220 Volts AC, two round pin socket.

5. I don't know if your accommodation has air conditioning or not. If it hasn't you will normally find that you can hire a fan from reception for the duration of your holiday. It is definitely worth it and I would recommend it. Try and hire it when you check in as they are sometimes in short supply in high season. If they have safety deposit boxes for hire get one of those as well, again it is worth it, if only for piece of mind.

6. Car Hire, cheaper if you book it yourself rather than go through the rep. Again just go to the end of the road (town end) turn left and you will find several companies to choose from. if like us you prefer a scooter I can recommend 'Theo's' who keep all their scooters up to date with the latest models and will supply crash helmets if required. They can be found up in the town. Again go to the end of the road (town end) turn left, then right at the fork, carry on walking for about ten minutes where you will see 'Theo's' scooters on your right. They also do car hire. Don't forget to take your driving licence as this will be required when hiring either car or scooter and is usually kept by the company until the vehicle is returned. They will let you take your licence back if you prefer, just ask at time of booking.

Warning. Unless you are an experienced rider I would not recommend the scooter hire. The roads can be treacherous in places with large pot holes. The surface can also be like a skating ring in places due to the extremely dry conditions and type of surface. This is very noticeable in Zante Town.

7. One stop on from 'Theo's' scooter/car hire on the same side is the 'Utopia' bar run by, yes you guessed it, Yannis. Everyone seems to be called Yannis. He's a great guy and a true gent who will always be pleased to see you and help you out. He has a new yacht which he takes people out on trips round the island to places that you would not normally go on an organised trip. Mention our names and he will probably charge you double, haha. He has a hard life, he runs his bar with his mother and staff in the summer along with his boat trips and then in the winter he spends all his time ski-ing and snow boarding in his girl friends country, Austria or somewhere like that. It's a tough life, but someone has to do it!

8. For a great view of Zante harbour visit the Balcony Bar/Restaurant. You will need transport for this as it is a bit off the beaten track.
Directions. Follow the road as if heading towards Zante Palace. Keep following the road up and round the twists and turns for approx 2 - 3 miles. Keep your eyes open for the sign directing you to the Balcony Bar/Restaurant. You will turn right off the main road on to what some times seems a track. keep following the signs. Once there you will not be disappointed. A bit pricier than elsewhere, but the view is worth it.

9. There are many places to eat, all offering good quality and value for money. You will no doubt find a particular favourite. Most people don't eat before nine when the temperature has dropped to a more palatable level.

10. If like us you like to take the odd drink home!, I would recommend purchasing your tipple on the island as it is cheaper than the airport and on the aircraft. On the other side of the road before 'Theo's' scooter/car hire is a supermarket called 'Margarita's who we found could not be beaten on price, also do money exchange.

11. The bank. Situated in the town. At the end of the road (town end) turn left and left at the fork. Keep walking for a few minutes and you will see the bank on your left.
Although the exchange rate should be the same now they have gone fully over to the Euro you may still find you need to shop around for the best rate.

12. Medical. There is a very good pharmacy on the outskirts of the town with very knowledgeable staff that will actually sell you antibiotics over the counter if they think appropriate or will organise a doctor to see you. Again go to the end of the road (town end) turn left and left at the fork, keep going until you are almost through the town where you will see the pharmacy on your left. You can recognise it by the sign, a green cross on a white background.

13. The beach. You can't miss it, about a five -ten minute walk from your accommodation. Long stretch of soft sand which gets extremely hot and will burn your feet if not careful. Several places to get food and drink. Water sports span the beach including Para gliding and jet ski's. Don't bother going to the bar situated on the beach behind the jet ski place near Zante Palace, recognisable by a straw roof. Not up to much. There are two guys that just walk up and down the beach all day, one sells fresh fruit salad (Dennis the menace) and the other sells doughnuts. All fresh and very tasty. Not much in the way of toilet facilities unless your down the far end where some of the hotels back onto the beach. This is where the scooter can come in useful, if you know what I mean!.

14.Volimez market is a good place to visit for bargains in leather (especially belts) china, linen and rugs. A bit of a trek but worth it with plenty of places to stop on the way for refreshments and views. Allow a full day for this trip.

15. Zante Town. A bustling harbour town where there are plenty of shops including designer if you are prepared to scout round the narrow streets to find them. Remember, most but not all shops close in the afternoon until early evening so if you fancy a shopping trip best to do it in the morning. You can also see the fishermen bringing in the catch. They will sell you fish direct of the boat if you wish. This is also where you can get a good deal on boat trips of various sorts. Plenty of bars and restaurants where you can relax and just watch the world go by.

16. All public phone boxes use a phone card which can are cheap to purchase from most shops.

17. Postal Service, Don't bother sending post cards home, as you will have returned home from your holiday days if not weeks before they arrive.

18. Top Tip!, It's that time we either hate or can't wait, and that's going home. As I said at the beginning, Zante airport is very small in comparison with most airports.
And the departure lounge is no exception. Although it has a small duty free shop, refreshments and loo's it gets very crowded. There are allot of seats but are usually all taken. There is also usually a cloud hanging over the whole area from the smokers who are all either totally ignorant or cannot read the signs in the non smoking area's!.
To avoid this health hazard follow my tip.
When you have checked in your luggage instead of queuing up at passport control to go through into 'Lung Cancer City' just go back out side into the fresh air and sunshine. There are plenty of places about where you can sit, either in the sun or under a tree. The area where you checked in your luggage has all you should need, refreshment bar, toilets and a monitor. Just pop back into the terminal now and again to check your flight details on the monitor. When you know your flight is about to land or has just landed then queue up at passport control to go through. If by chance when you are queuing they call to say your flight is now boarding and your way back in the queue, just make your way to the front and explain to the other passengers that your flight is boarding and that you need to get through. They won't mind, trust me, I know from experience. If you time it right though you can almost go straight through passport control and onto the coach to the aircraft, bypassing Benson & Hedges test factory.
One last tip, when you first arrive at the airport you will no doubt have to queue up outside. Only part of the outside area is covered giving you some protection from the sun, so it is advisable to make sure you have a hat and a bottle of water available in your hand luggage as you could be queuing for anything up to an hour.

I hope this is of some use. It's surprising how a few helpful lines can turn into a book, perhaps I should get it published, haha.

By the way, there is life in the form of bars and shops if you turn RIGHT at the end of the road!

If you think of anything else that I might be able to help with let me know.

If you like the Greek Islands you may be interested in taking a look at my web sites, one of which will be updated at the end of June when we return from Kefalonia.

Angela, Have just read all your queries. Reagarding the weather, rain is unusual in early September but not unheared of. The cost of a taxi from the airport to Tsilivi should be no more than 18 euros, this is the cost to Amoudi which is a bit futher away. there is a cash point located in Tsilivi. If you require any further information e-mail me at martin@fletch-uk.freeserve .co.uk. I will also be in Zante from the 7th September.

Angela E

Hi, Ive booked to go to zante on 7th Sep 2003.From the previous postings Im a bit worried about rain. Do we need coats for the evening.

Kelly S

Went to Laganas in Septmeber 2002 (18th - 26th). The wether was fantastic, it didn't rain once, there was only one off day where it was a little chilly but the sun was still out!!! It was still very lively at this time of the year and I would reccommend it to anyone who wants to have a great time getting drunk but doesn't want it too over crowded. This is a great place for any age (well not really old people). I'm 21 and i think anyone my age would love it there. I stayed at the Tzante Hotel (see comments under hotel section) the hotel was right on the main strip which had all the clubs/bars/restaurants, couldn't of got any closer!!! Will be back, maybe not this year but next year could be a possibility!!!

Sam

we loved zante,my mate mel and i,went in september and it was fab met the best bunch of 1st choice reps,in fact mel fell in love with one jon and yep she brought him home and yes again they are still together ahhhh!me well i loved it so much i,m becomming one of those reps this year and hopefully in zante? keep your fingers crossed xx i endured a tough 4hr interview and still wanna do it.i love zante its sunny and the locals are lovely so be nice.
well for all you guys of on your hols be kind to me and not give me greif i,ll do my best honest,
oh and mines a vodka and orange he he.have fun and party.xx

Mel H

Also have to say September is a great time to go because it tends to be quieter. It was just right when we went on the 1 september, not to busy and not to quiet, i would probably go in August as the weather wasnt that great but did get loads of very very hot sun and some great thunder and lightning xxxx

Mel H

Went to Zante last September. It was very hot but it rained 3 days but it was only for 5 minutes, they were very light showers and would not put me off going back there in September.we also had a storm on the first night we arrived, it was amazing, the lighning was so amazing to watch and the thunder was great. We also had a thunder and lightning on our last night but it didnt rain it was just thunder and lightning. I would go back just to see the lightning. We had 38 degrees all week and got a great tan. The shipwreck beach is a great place to get a tan and on the boat because you have got the breeze as well as the sun. We went on the cruise to shipwreck beach 3 times because it was so beautiful and gave us a great tan. if you want to lie down and sunbath on the boat i advise you taking something soft to sit on and a towel to lay on as it is abit uncomfortable and the boat gets very very hot so you usually either burn your feet or your bum. I would definately go back in September xxxx

Sue F

I VISITED ZANTE IN JUNE 2000 AND THOUGHT IT WAS A FANTASTIC PLACE. I AM NOW CONSIDERING GETTING MARRIED THERE IN SEPT 2OO4. CAN ANYBODY TELL ME ABOUT THEIR WEDDING EXPERIENCES IN ZANTE - HOW DID YOU GO ABOUT SETTING IT ALL UP? WERE YOU WELL TREATED? WAS IT ALL THAT YOU HAD HOPED FOR? WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT? ANY INFO WOULD REALLY BE HELPFUL. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE, SUE.

Rose S

I hope to have a beach wedding in Zante in September 03 - any info from anyone gratefully received!

Paul N

my family and i have just got back from amoudi, the weather was 26-30c all week

Lindsey A

Just got back on Sunday. The weather was hot and sunny for about 80% of the time. We had some clouds and short showers, but nothing too bad. I recommend taking a light jacket for the evenings as it has started to get a bit chilly after 10pm.

Lucy S

We've just got back from Laganas and after reading the weather reports that people had sent in about September i was a bit worried that it would rain! but luckily it didnt we had lovely weather all week, apart from Monday when it was really windy! Oh yeah and we had a mild earth tremor!!

Loz H

I thought it would be hot and sunny every day without a cloud in the sky. We were there for 14 days and 3 were like that. However it didn't spoil the holiday one bit. Great thunderstorms during that day (only lasted about an hour) and amazing electrical storms at night, lighting up the whole sky. Sunday 15th was the worst when it rained for nearly the whole day but as we were in Zante town drinking under a cafe umbrella, who cared? Bets of all - very few kids around !!!

Lynne T

Oh and by the way forgot to mention the thunder and lighting..... and the terential rain storms, we had it one day and it filled our balcony, that was the last sunday we were there.... but will go back, it is a nice place and well worth a visit.

Lynne T

Went to Zante for a week on the 10th September, had some rain nearly every day.... quite cloudy, however when the sun was out it was very nice. Had tremor whilst there as well, quite entertaining however when you lay in bed and it shakes and you don't need to ask did the earth move for you, as you know your only reading a book at the time, it does freak you out slightly. Well as for the wasps those big BUGGERS there ok just duck very quickly but if one hits you on the forehead BOY are you F*****D......... but don't worry theres a doctor just around the corner, and then you also realise why when arriving in Zante and being transferred to you hotel, the reps advise you to wear crash helmets!!!!! (Mopeds)!!!!!! :-( P.S only Joking, there are wasps but there not troublesome,....... there just very very very very BIG!!!

M&j W

We were in Zakynthos (at Alykanas) for two weeks from 27 August. On the whole the weather was very hot and pleasant. In this time we did have two thunderstorms, one at night which started north of us over Kefalonia, and the 'light show' was spectacular!! After a thunder storm the next day started wet or cooler, but it soon improved. The sea at this time is very warm, so September is a good time for swimming in a warm water.

Lindsey A

I'm getting concerned about all the reports of thunderstorms! I'm desperate for some hot sunshine! Can anyone reassure me about the weather in September - I'm travelling to Zante on 22/09/02.

Ruth C

Definitely a good time of year. There was a slight earth tremor but I just thought my Pina Colada was bit strong and I was going to fall off the bar stool in the Clear Horizon. Before I forget, there is an excursion operator called Dionisos tours with an office in Amoudi run by a great guy called Craig. I booked all my trips with him, [it wasnt their fault that the shipwreck is a wreck!!], good value and great service. You can do a trip into Zante town that gives you 5 hours for shopping and dining etc [but too late in the day for the museums] for only 6 euros. I also went into Alikana for 10 euros and got my money back by dining in the Greedy greek restaurant owned by the same guy. The money is knocked off the bill. I also did the long walk up to the church on the hill [40mins to an hour depending on fitness]. Dont forget to take the camera [fab views] and a bottle of water!!

Toni C

Arrived Sunday 8th at 1.30pm to it pissing down just like UK in middle of April. It cleared up but we had storms all week and most days cloudy but with sunny spells. Had n earth tremor on the last night at 11pm but was more fun than worrying. Didnt seem busy really only the friday night and Sat night is night greeks go out so girls beware. Dunno if 18-30 etc slackens off but only really saw two guys pissed out there heads in bars so not bad to be honest,,,most groups seem to be pretty well controlled by reps. I weather is ok thne would say sept good time to go as more couples than anything and ages were mixed from 18 to 80

Sam L

We went 1/9 - 8/9 rained everyday but one, but when the sun did come out for about 3-4 hours it was just right. Tip - take some insct repellent, we didn't and got bit loads - still scratting now! Laganas is the best, will definately come back and would recommend it to anyone. PS, don't stay in the Astoria Apts, they are awful!

Laura M

Going to argassi on 27th august for 2wks! Can any1 help on da earthquake situation bit worried? and how big r these wasps every1 is going on about????? Any1 stayed in argassi villa denise apartments wat they like???????

Lucy

I visit Zante regularly, Ive been 3 times in September and normally the weather is still nice and hot. You won't be disappointed for nightlife, its still very lively at that time of year! Sometimes its better going in September, as because its quieter you get to chat the barman and therefore benefit from lots of free drinks!

Joanne H

Hi, we are 5 Scottish girls who are off to Zante on the 2nd of September! Can anyone tell us what the weather and nightlife will be like? Is it still lively this late into the year?

Michelle L

I am going to Zante at the end of September to get married in Zante Town Hall. Can anyone tell me what a wedding in Zante is like, if you were well looked after - or perhaps what the town hall is like. I am looking forward to my wedding, but just want to make sure the place is nice.

we have been twice in september 1st about 8th lovely and warm bit cold at night 2000 2nd time 2001 18th sept day before my friend annes b/day wonderful weather we even had the earthquake i did not notice but my husband did warmer than last year at night we are going again this sept about 22.9.02 i am hoping weather will be just as good but i will take my denim jacket for at night and sweatshirt for mornings on the scooter

Anna R

My boyfriend & I stayed here 24/09/01 - 31/09/01 and loved it. It was still really hot and plenty to do at night. We had one earthquake, measuring 5 on the scale and also a small power-cut apart from that, a really good time of the year to go. Were worried it may be cold and packed our woolies, but never needed them in the end (just the bikini and oil!)

Rachel G

We went 14-16th September and it was brill. Hot but not too hot during the day. Night time could get a bit chilly so take a light jacket. We had rain for an hour on two different days but it soon cleared up. The nightlife was still busy but not so busy that you could not get a seat anywhere. Beware of the killer wasps (they are big and plentiful). We had a great holiday in Laganas, although we wouldn't go back... it's one of those place you can say you've been and seen! We would recommend it to anyone.

Mike S

Brilliant - nice heat - though sometimes a little TOO hot - nice and quiet - except from september to early december its EaRtHqUaKe time, they have arround 30-60 earthquakes between sep-dec - all of around 5-6 on the richter scale!

We went to Zante from 6/9/01 - 21/9/01 and it was a really good time of year to go. Most of the children had gone back to school so it was quite peacefull. The weather was brilliant it was nice and hot but not too hot. We had a couple of days that the morning looked cloudy and as if it was going to rain but it tended to clear up and be a really nice hot day (one morning it did rain but not for long). The last 2 days of our holiday were the only ones that I had to sit under a brolly by the pool as it was too hot for me to sunbathe in. At night time it was quite chilly so make sure you bring a little jacket or something to keep the chill off you. There was a couple of thunder storms during the time that we were there. I did get quite a lot of mozzie bites and the plug in the wall thingys dont work I was told to try a candle by someone out there which I will do next time he said it was very good, and yes the wasps are Massive Beasties!!

Mandy C

Really good weather, just right, nice and hot in the daytime (not too hot) and nice and cool in the evenings. Can feel quite chilly at night especially if you have sunburn! Had a few storms but they were at night so they didn't interfere with sunbathing time!

We got back from Zante on the 18th September and we would highly recommend this Island and the time of year for an enjoyable holiday. We had 3 electric storms (one was truly fantastic) fortunately all were at night. The temps ranged from Hot, Hot to HOT in the upper 30s all the time.Another good reason to go to Zante at this time of year is that it isnt too crowded. A lot of the children have gone back to school and so things are a little quieter. We didnt have too much of a problem with mosquitos but watch out for the wasps, they are big mothers !!!! We have been to other greek Islands and think that this is the best one weve been to, very green despite the heat, very friendly people, wonderful beer and wine. Definately will go again.

September ??? great!! just come back. we were there 12th to 19th. great studios called "spinos". almost certain to book again for next September. that's as well as June which is already booked. we like it .. can you tell ?

Philippa S

September is a great time to go to Zakynthos. The weather is still hot, but not as unbearable as during July and Augest. We went 29/8 - 12/9 and found that after the first week of our holiday there were alot less children around (this made it less busy in the hotel pool etc!).

Dean M

Well the weather is definately good in september only two evenings with rain and one was a truelly excellent electrical storm. The days were warm and yes the sea is at its best after the hot days cooking it. Sea temp avg is 26 and temp avg was in the mid thirties. The evenings can be a bit chilly though. If we wrer to go back there we would go in september again.

Stayed at Hotel Galaxy last September. Weather was still hot, about 85 degrees, people friendly, beach quite busy but not overcrowded. Enjoyed it so much, going back again this year.

Emma P

I went from the 10th - 24th September and it was brilliant. he weather was still hot and for anyone who wantto go clubbing or pubbing everywhere is still very much open and the atmosphere is fab.

Robert J

WAS OUR SECOND VISIT, WAS HERE TWO MONTHS EARLIER ALSO, Was hot, but not as hot, nice http://www.simplewebdesign.net/2000.htm

Terrie B

I liked it because it was still very hot (although it rained once!!) and because it's out of season it's cheaper. That's the main thing when you have 3 kids!!

Claire P

I went to Laganas last September and the atmosphere was great because the season was coming to an end and everyone was just enjoying themselves. I'd go to Laganas anytime of the year because I know that it was such a great place!

More Best Time to Visit...
