We are staying at the Oscar Villa Studios this year and we cannot find any comments, has anyone stayed there and what do they think.
We stayed last July and had the best holiday ever, really clean apartments. OK so not much cooking facilities but who wants to cook when they're in Greece! Beautiful surroundings, clean pool, great atmosphere. Just that little bit out of town not to be too intrusive but close enough. Take a tip, get the horse home, its so much fun and also go to Asteria for the best service you could wish to have. Food Ok but made up by the superb setting and the great staff. I would recommend Soulla/Sellini everytime, OK bit pricey (but all produce grown in their own garden!) but its not butlins and it depends what your expectations are. We had a great time and kids nagging to go back! If I could get away this year I know where I'd be going...... Great holiday, great pool, great atmosphere
Does anyone know who is the holiday company dealing with the Theo Apartments?
once again my wife and myself are booking our holidays with jimmy ,chrissie ,george .theo etc as for the past eight years we and our family have enjoyed relaxing holidays . where you can do as little or as much as you like .
hello i went to jimmys this year and it was fantastic my family have been going to jimmys for the last ten years and jimmy has not changed he is absoultey wonderful, his now married to a fantastic woman katarina with a beautiful daght
My wife and I have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Soula apts and had a really good holiday, the weather was amazing for the whole 2 weeks. The apts are basic, 2 ring hob, toaster, kettle and fridge but are perfect as a base for your holiday. Alykes is a 15-20 min walk where you will find the beach along with various shops and restaurants, we found Relax, right on the crossroads in Alykes to be very good, most of the restaurants average about 6 euro for a main meal.
One problem we found was the prices on the complex, the pool bar isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination and you will find the on site supermarket more expensive than the surrounding shops. If you know you can get food and drink cheaper by taking a short walk then you're going to do it, we, and many other guests we spoke to, would have really liked to have stayed around the pool and have a snack but 2.90 euro for a portion of frozen chips!!, just under 7 euro for burger and chips, unbelievable !!, the pool bar has a long menu so if you plan to eat there take plenty of money because it's more expensive the the UK. It's 2.50 for a myhtos (a bottle of greek beer) when everywhere else charges 2 euro, nip to the supermarkets, buy your mythos for around 90 cents and put it in the fridge for a few hours, a big saving , you'll have to drink these on your balcony though because all food and drink around the pool must be bought from the pool bar!!.
We hired a scooter and took a trip upto the blue caves, 6 euro for a boat trip that takes you right into the caves and lets you have a 10-15 min swim, well recommended. We also did the shipwreck at a later date, 8 of us went and managed to get it for 11 euro each, the beach is all shingle so take something to put on your feet.
At the end of the holiday we didn't want to come home and would probably go back, as long as you realise that Alykes is designed totally for the tourist then you'll have a great time.
We went to Zakynthos for a relaxing break and found it at Soula. Jimmy and his family and staff
Brilliant, just got back from our first holiday to the island & stayed at the Soula Apartments, we will deffinately be back, Lovely quiet area ( apart from the cockeral ) the appartments had everyting you need to have a very comfortable stay, very clean & really friendly, thank you Jimmy will see you again as soon as we can get out there. Viv & Dave.

JIMMY AND ALL THE FAMILY |
having stayed at the soula apts for the last 11 yrs we cannot fault the friendliness of jimmy and his family, they always make it home from home for us and nothing is too much trouble. the accomodation may be basic but it is adequate for what is needed on a self catering holiday , the mini market and snack bar are great and oscars bar in the evening provides a good start and end to the evening.as for other comments on this site regarding drugs etc must have been one off's if they happened at all as we have never experienced anything like this in 11 years.we cannot wait to see you all again , counting down the days till the 16/06/06 and meeting kristy for the first time.
Visited Sellini Apartments in August 2005 had a wonderful time. The only holiday where we managed to relax on our first day.
We have just come back from a week at the Sellini Apartments and we loved it! The apartments are stunning and beautifully kept. The surroundings are beautiful as well. We didnt have much to do with any of the staff as we never had any problems but got the feeling that they were there to help if we needed them. The pool area is kept spotless and was a lovely place to sit and chill out.
Thank you all for a fantastic holiday, the Soula Appartments where fantastic, the views from our balcony were outstanding. Jimmy, yourself and your family where fantastic. Accomodation was immaculate with great on site facilities (Pool/snack bar, mini market and evening bar). Alan and Debbie you where great, thankyou both of you. Weather was fantastic over 100 degrees most of the week. We hope to return soon. Hannah, Andy, Lauren and Natalie
Absolutely wicked and we are returning next year!!!!! Thanx Jimmy and the rest of his family and also congratulations on your new arrival of christina!!!!!! See you soon, Danielle and Luke x x x
ME AND MY FIANCE ARE GOING IN SEPTEMBER ANY IDEA WHAT THE WEATHER IS LIKE,AND DOES IT TURN INTO A GHOST TOWN???
my fiance and i have only just returned from the soula apartments and we thought they were great. all of the guests seem to be british and the family who run the resort all speak english to varying levels. the rooms are basic but clean and comfortably furnished. no television here... but we didn't care a bit (and neither will you). there is a fridge in the kitchen along with a small electric cooking hob, there's a safe for your valuables in the wardrobe (you'll get the key from jimmy when you ask), a dressing table for the ladies and we had two single beds in our room that we were able to push together. the shower is very small as it is in one of those small sit down baths but this didn't really bother us that much. no air con. so hire a fan from jimmy at the pool bar. the apartments all have a balcony which is great for having a quiet drink on your own after a night dining out at one of the many great restaurants (check out 'nisiotiko' five minutes towards the beach) the pool is superb and watch out for scorching temperatures in season... it's a sun trap! there are children in some of the other apartment blocks within the resort but the kids that were there when we were, were well behaved. take an anti-hystemine (or however you spell it!) every morning, this will reduce any impact the mosquitos might have as well as stopping that awful p***kley heat! take an insect sting/bite relief stick (there are wasps looking for a drink around the pool constantly, but they won't bother you unles you start bothering them. also there are mosquitos, mainly in the evening). we found that taking an aftersun product with an insect repellant included was excellent... take two bottles). the pool bar is great with cheap and tasty poolside type food. great burgers, omlettes, toasties... you know the score. mythos beer tastes really good over there but why not use one of the quaintly named 'supermarkets' and buy yourself some cheap beers there (you are not aloud to eat or drink products that have not been purchased at the pool bar, poolside. the local taxes are different and the owners will be fined if you are caught by inspectors... unless that was all just to get us to buy from the bar!!!!) at night the pool bar closes at around 1900 then the evening bar 'oscars' opens. there is also a really handy mini market on site, nice wine (no choice though) open 'til you stop buying! don't go there if you are a group of guys or girls looking for a boozy, night club type of holiday... it's not the place for that, trust me, you'll hate it! enjoy your hols! ian & claire
We have stayed in Soula appartments and Sellini appartments for the last eight years and have had lovely holidays. The appartments are clean and efficiently run, Jimmy, Chrissie and family are extremely friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them, the whole complex is the best we have stayed in for friendliness and cleanliness in Alikes. The comments of drug taking on the complex amazes me as we have never in all the years seen or heard of such activities and furthermore do not think they would be ignored by Jimmy, Chrissie, Theo, George, Alan the rep or anyone else there, and if you choose to go to a family orientated complex you must expect children to be there although we have never found it to be noisy and unruly. I must add that we have taken children there and had some nasty comments made by a female about children which we chose to treat with the contempt it deserved and we will be going back again this year, so look forward to seeing Jimmy, Katerina, Chrissie, George, Theo etc again.
Me and my girlfriend had a great time here 2 weeks ago. We stayed in the Theo Studio's which were basic but very clean and had everything you needed. Have to say we loved it at the pool, big and clean and a sun trap for the whole day. Just a short 10 minute walk and you were in the centre of Alikes which was alot busier than I expected. This is a good thing though as there were plenty of restaurants and bars too choose from and every meal we had was amazing. Check out the 2 beach restaurants, cheaply prized but stunning location and food.
Got to say Jimmy and family at the apartments were great (even took time out to throw handfulls of ice at the guests on hot days :-)
I was ill 3 days into our trip, had heat exhaustion which made me feel terrible. Have got to say a major thanks to Alan the Thompsons Rep who helped out tremendously. He was always available and very caring and helpful to me and my girlfriend. By far the best rep we have ever come across. Also Gary in the bar in the evenings is a great laugh and was also very helpful when I was ill and always asked how I was feeling. If such caring help and advice wasnt so readily available I could easily have been alot worse.
Top venue though and I would highly recommend it. It has everything you need and a very friendly atmosphere, not just at the apartments but also down in Alikes centre.
We had a great two weeks at Sellini Apartments. All staff were very friendly, jimmy very helpful, gary very chatty and maria a great cook! Local beach very nice with beautiful blue sea's. Plenty of resturants in Alykes and very cheap to get horse and carriage to the sister town Alykanas. Recommend booking any day trips in the town with local firms rather than thompson because works out to be a lot cheaper.
Hi Greg
When we stayed at the Theo Studios last year and in 2002 there was definitely a fridge which was very welcome for all the bottled water we were drinking. Have a fantastic time. We wish we were going but I had a little girl in March so may be next year.
Another question seeing as i'm going out on Friday 27th August, could somebody tell me if you can hire air conditioning units for the room?
Many thanks
Dawn
Got the thumbs up so far from reading the reviews! Myself and my girlfriend will be flying out on the 30th August and I cant wait! The picture on the brochure looks fantastic and one of the most picturesque in the whole thing.
Just a quick question, most of the other hotels state that there is a fridge in the kitchen area where as The Soula & Theo Studios doesnt? Has it just been left out or is there need for us to bring a cooler bag to keep water etc cool?
See you soon guys :)
