Cavo Doro (Akis/Alisons)

we stayed at the cavo d'oro from the 29/6/06, there were seven of us and we all had a fantastic time....the apaartments are very basic but they are ok..for the time you spend in them....the greek people are really friendly and make you feel realy welcome...harry was great too...he works really hard to keep everyone happy so if he does look miserable  its because he's tired..i wouldnt like to do his job....but he was great with us....we met a great crowd of people there... dave julie tammy and tom from liverpool.... and ian and sharon from mertyre...excuse me spellin..lol....your holday is what you make it but meeting them made it for us....cant wait till next year...and hopefully we will see mamma again she is a great lady..(.harry you must be rally proud...) ali and akis were also great...it was the best holiday ever.. especially doin the boming by the pool ...lol..jayne was the best though... cant wait to see you all again....congratulations tom on your win in germany...  cath kevin  and lucy... and mick says hi too..lol

Had a great time at Harrys pool bar (in the Cava Doro). Food was great and prices reasonable. We recommend everyone try it. Harry is great and Mama will have you in stitches. All the staff are really friendly.

Me and Other Half (Andy) were very shocked when we got to kalamaki and didn't really like it, it was to quiet, But the longer we stayed, the more we liked. The first time i met harry, i thought he was so moody but the more time we spent at harry's bar the more i realised that he isn't moody, he just isn't to into your face, and is actually quite funny, Not as funny as his mother though. There was a girl working in the evening who was lovely called Becky, very down to earth and friendly. The hotel itself was OK. I was not impressed with the room we were staying at but the sea front view was wicked. The furniture needs updating as it was a bit stinky (wardrobe and drawers). I would probably not go there again (kalamaki) as it was a bit to quiet, but we did relax and enjoy ourselves. I also think that more enterainment shoud be at harry's bar (I HOPE YOU ARE READING THIS HARRY) As they do the same thing every night, Deal or no deal, But i think that is down to harry's lazyness. Sorry Harry.

Just want to say that this is the place to go for your full english breakfast. Especially if you're missing the english food, or just plain hungover!  He is a friendly guy and always cooks what you want.  You can sit in or out and the smell while you're by the pool is great.  He also has sky tv and shows all the football matches, etc.  He usually has a deal on meals too.

This was our second holiday at the Cavo Doro (comments from last year are on previous pages) and its not our normal thing to return to a destination that we have already visited. We enjoyed last year so much we broke the rules and went back. What a great decision that was!!! Everyone remembered us! (reception,maid,gardener,the owner,the local supermarket, even the turtles!).
Harry and the crew at the Pool Bar are amazing and again made the holiday.
OK, its the sun and the sea that we holiday for, but the food and the drinks are just as important. At Harry's bar the Breakfast,Snacks & Meals have always been supurb!!The value for money can't be beaten!!

We went here every lunchtime from the pool for something to eat and it is great to step in from 40 degree plus heat into air conditioning. The food is really nice and the drinks are reasonably priced as well although for some reason the bottles of pepsi smelt of fish (?)

The BBQ on a Friday is great as well, it was our first night when we went and the greek dancing is a good laugh - eat as much as you want for 5€, which can't be bad!

We spent a few early eveings in the pool bar but moved on very quickly as not much happening. We partook in 2 of the evening BBQs, this was nice, good food and plenty of it and live greek music, trouble is a lot of people left straight after so went very quiet. In high season i think it will be alot busier and therefore better atmosphere. Staff are very nice, there are some electrnice games as well as a pool table.

THIS YEAR IT'S EVEN BETTER AND WE DID NOT THINK IT COULD GET ANY BETTER....A BIG BIG THANK YOU TO LABIS THE OWNER WHO IS JUST GREAT FOR ALL HE DONE AND FOR THE FANTASTIC FOOD HE SERVED.
BEST BAR IN KALAMAKI A MUST FOR ALL THE FAMILY..

Forget the catagories that you have to click on for ratings,They should be....food excellent,.... value for money excellent,.... drinks excellent,staff excellent etc...it hasnt got the nightclub buzz but you can enjoy a good meal and drink in great company until its time to crawl to bed.Then the next day you can stagger over and get the best value breakfast.

Cannot believe this place is still only rated 5 out of 10 after the comments I've been reading!! Definately worth a 10.... COME ON!!!! Going back in Oct to resample the Greek hospitality. Try this place for best quality and value meals any time of day.. you won't regret it!! PS George, Lambis, Andreus, Akis, George, Demitrius and every1 in Cavo .. . if youre reading this....S'AGAPO!! The Pool bar at Cavo Doro was great for food and good value for money, the breakfasts were fine to get you going in the mornings although you had a job to get Andreas to smile. But the best thing about the Poll bar is that it serves THE BEST MOUSAKA ON THE ISLAND!!!!! Minus points though harry for switching over half way into the grand Prix!

The pool bar in the day was great. Harry's food was great whatever the time of day. Ask him about his Yorkshire puddings - I taught him how to make them! I didn't think there was much atmosphere in the night but the hotel bar was no better either. They just kept showing films (bad copies)

Enjoyed our stay at Cavo Doro & ate almost every night at the Pool Bar. We were treated like royalty. Lambis & George could not do enough for us, and we returned thinking of them as family. (I referred to George as my adopted Greek son.. tell him "Mom" says "Hi!" if you go!) Some people who visit Cavo don't realise that the Pool Bar does a varied evening menu, from T Bone Steak/Mexican/BBQ..to Sunday Dinner! At the best prices on the island! Plus the English breakfast is about 3.5 euros, cheaper than the rest! Will be back for more in October.... Julie, Nigel & Jamie (Cardiff)

Had a few emails about this place and sounds as though attitudes and things may have changed.......I and others had bad experiences last year with overcharging etc but by all accounts things may be different. Worth a try if this is now the case....

The reason it gets 3 out of 10 is because people are voting for the excellent Hotel Bar run by Akis, Georgi etc on here. This is the Pool Bar one - see all the comments below. Go to the Cavo d Oro aparthotel site and post for the hotel bar on there - they should have a separate one really cos it`s a brilliant bar - cheers Akis & Georgi. pool bar is utter crap!

Still can't belive that this place only has 3/10.

We loved this bar. This was our second year here and Akis remembered us (which was quite surprising). Anyway, as you can imagine, he was very pleased to see us all again this year and there were free drinks a-plenty. Georgia is completely barmy but very loveable and Yannis is very quite but great at pressing the play button on the CD Player!! We spent most of our evenings here and even got involved in Karaoke (something none of us ever do). Thanks again go out to Georgia for getting me pissed.

DON'T GO TO THE POOL BAR!!! If you are going to the Cava Doro you need only to go to the bar at the front, forget anything else. Yakkis, Yanni and the lovely Georgia (possibly insane) will provide you with the best nights in Kalamaki, probably the whole island too. Loads of free cocktails, cheap beers (even cheaper if by the staff drinks too, he he), Georgia gets the Karaoke going with loads of free shots, and will always sing with you. Yakkis is as sound as you can get and will help you out with ANYTHING at all, in fact he was way better than our Rep. Yanni, I guess is the DJ, thanks for the KC + Sunshine Band CD mate. Last thing - If anyone scores more than 158'000 on Match Up, then TOBASHCHA wanna know about it!!! If you go anywhere in Kalamaki - go here and tell them Tobes and the Freestyler sent you.

Well what can I say, another year of fantastic cocktails(many thanks Yakas)and shots(many thanks Georgia)and humour(thanks Gianis). This place is run by some of the most friendly people on the Island who will look after you if you have any troubles.If you don't enjoy this bar, your asleep or Yakas has made you a few of his bacardi and cokes!!

hey all, i came back from zante, greece on the 6th september (sadly).....we stayed in cavo d'oro...the asctual bar in cavo wernt that good in the nites but u could get sum good deals on food in the day time...also the people there were great....emma lawton and kirsty vizzard if u read this comment, hey this is rhys u should remember me... i was the guy who u though called emma 10 years old, when i didnt it was mike the other guy,ne way ya didnt really talk 2 us after all that s**t bout u being ten, the only time we really talked to u was wen u were off home, sorry we didnt talk sooner coz u 2 were alright!....neway i made loadddds of friends over there and had sum cool nites out in a bar called angels ne1 goin 2 zante gotta check it out its very good and the d.j and bar staff were cool!.....wish i was still in greece rite now, ne1 who gos there.youll love it!....cya!......rhys!

I agree with the message below from Emma, pool bar is miserable, but the bar at the front is great!!! akis is a great guy, georgia is mad, crazy, but really nice, and yanis is sound!!! if u don't like kareoke, stay away with goergia, but even then, she will manage to get u up somehow!!

gone down hill alot since last year (since george has left) the new bar man is a creep and only after money but do not mistake the pool bar with the bar at the front of the cava dora which was brilliant with really friendly barstaff i.e. Akis, Georga and yani who were all great

Unless you are staying in the Cavo doro studios then do not waste your time. It was ok to have a night cap in but not exactly the best place to be.

great atmosphere!! very friendly waiters ( george was nice) entertainment was good. very relaxing!

Had a brilliant time in Cavo d`Oro hotel and the hotel bar at night - I stopped using Pool Bar after 4 days and having been overcharged 4 times though. I don`t mind paying extra for the bar to be next to the pool, but when I and at least 5 others were charged above menu price for items ranging from calippos to water to toasted sandwiches it got very annoying. I must stress this is the Pool Bar, not the Hotel one where Akis is a great laugh! Also got moaned at on quiz night at the Pool Bar for having a laugh - beware!

Stayed at the Cavo d'oro hotel and was excellent. A huge hello and thanks to Akis at the bar - missing you all already and we'll be back!
