Ate here LOADS of times during our visit to Kalamaki in September, absolutely first class as usual. The mixed Greek platter is GORGEOUS, and sooooooooooooo filling. The Chicken Dias as usual one of my favourites, and Andrew enjoyed his steak and the spaghetti Mexican - FAB!!! The service, staff, ambiance and quality of this restaurant are second to none, our VERY favourite place to eat, we will be back next June, thank you Labros
We enjoyed several meals here during our recent visit and all were brilliant although I have become rather addicted to the steak dias The welcome, ambience, and great food cannot be faulted.
We have always loved the Dias from the very first time we went back in 1992! It was lovely then and is better now !
Stayed in Kalamaki 7th sept-14th sept and ate at the Dias the 1st night, really enjoyed the food at the staff were helpful. Would recommend the spaghetti bolognese.
What a lovely place had great food wish we had tried it years ago.
Arrived home late last night We ate every meal at Dias for two weeks. We chose a variety of meals from the menu and the food was cooked to perfection everytime, Compliments to the chef!! The waiters were very polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Although there are many places to eat in Kalamaki. Dias definately has the WOW factor!!! This makes you want to go back for more. Thankyou Argiris, Joanna, Labros and Lisa.
Had 2 superb meals here. Staff courteous and food excellent. Labros always makes you very welcome and remembers everyone
dias food is the best especially the pizzas. Thankyou very much Labros for our presents we loved them hope to see you again in may love josh x
WHAT CAN I SAY I SPENT TWO WEEKS IN KALAMAKI AND FOUND THIS TO BE THE BEST RESTURANT IN KALAMAKI. GOOD FOOD AND GOOD PRICES .EG A SIRLOIN STEAK WITH CHIPS AND ALL THE TRIMMINGS FOR 9.50 EUROS. ALSO WE FOUND THE STAFF TO BE THE FRIENDLIEST OF ALL THE RESTURANTS WE VISITED.
Lovely atmosphere, delicious meals, good service and wonderful hosts....what more do you want? See you all in 2009 xxx paul & beth
Spent three lovely evenings here. Great food and service, just loved the meze starter and chicken dias and the wine was good too Now counting down the days to September
Had 2 wonderful meals at this restaurant, although the second time we thought the waiter was rather rude. But the food was great.
Well what can we say? FABULOUS,FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT, as always!! The service was impeccable, food arrived hot, tasty and well presented, you can't beat the staff at Dias. Thank you for the four wonderful meals we had this time. This is definitely still the best restaurant in Kalamaki (in our opinion )
The mixed platter of Mousaka, pitta, stuffed tomatoes, stuffed aubergine, village sausage and meatballs was great, just could NOT eat it all!!! And as for the kebabs - yummmmmmy, roll on September when we'll be back for moreThis is the best place to eat in Kalamaki, we have have just returned and once again the service, food, and value for money was excellent.
we have been going to dias for the last eight years and have read your comments,i must comment my self that for the last 5 year we have stayed at dias, (eight times) and never have been disapointed in any one instance, for the lack of effort that is put on by LABROS and his TEAM,this is the only place to eat in kalamaki, that is total value for your EURO.the only thing you must do is if you have a complaint please talk to LABROS, and he WILL put right any (if any) wrong doing you belive has occured.we got married at dias in 2005 and LABROS was totaly commited to our special day, from start to finish,(the wedding was held at the dias and what a day that was pity you was not there to see) see you again in july 2008
Hi everyone at Dias
I am absolutely gob-smacked at the comments from Sarah and Gill.
Ive not been around for a while, imagine my surprise when I found bad comments about the Dias. Both posted on the same day, both agree with each other, both really love another restaurant. It dosn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what is going on.
But the worst thing, accusing Zakynthian's of snobbery. I don't think anyone's daft enough believe that.
I believe everyones entitled to an opinion, if you have a compliant bring it up at the time, talk to the manager. How can he fix it if he doesn't know whats wrong. However, you made comments about the type of people you perceived they wanted in the restaurant. Not the quality of product, from the safety of your computer. Fact your comments are the only bad ones for this restaurant so I hope most people with a modicum of intelligence will ignore them.
As for me, I really look forward to enjoying the Dias experience again.
Ian,Nicola and Hermione
i would like to say in my defence that i have visited the dias lots of times in my seven visits to kalamaki and found the service was not the same has previous visits which i made comment on we are all entitled opinions and i made mine i did not post the comment to cause offence has i respect all the people of kalamaki it was a comment not critasisim and for thoughs people who think i have not visited i can ssure you i have
The joys of hurting nice people with derisory comments-maybe i,ll post some of my own later about the other establishment which was the favorite restaurant of the two people who disliked the Dias & its staff so much, but then again i,m not that sad and i,ve never eaten there(doesn,t stop some people though) so I won,t. We,ve never had a bad meal in 7 years of eating at the Dias and the hospitality is second to none. Roll on 2008 when we return to Zakynthos and the hospitality and genuine warmth of Labros & family,Howard & Linzi and all the staff at the Dias and to be in the company of genuine people as this country is sadly lacking in them.
Everybody is entitled to an opinion, but all i can say is, look at how many bad comments are actually posted on Dias, you seem to be the only 2!!! We have visited the island for the past 11 years, we only started going to Dias after hearing good comments on the place and guess what... we weren't disappointed, it is now one of the places that we love to eat at as we are always greeted with the best service and food, we have never had a bad meal, and the staff have always recognised us from previous visits and we have always felt welcomed. I will be back next year to enjoy more of the fabulous dishes they serve. Hope you all have a good winter and a good rest ready for next year. xxx
We have going to the Dias now for 11 years, sometimes three of us sometimes groups of up to fifteen,we have never had a bad starter, never mind a bad meal,we are always greated by a warm reception and lovely surroundings, just like the first time we went in,thous the reason for returning. If anyone has the slightest consern, just ask for Labros,he will gladly sort out your requests. As for the Greeks not approving of people ordering main meals--rubbish ! They like to order three or four starters and share it out between themselves, like a tapas, especially if its a very warm evening. We have done the same ourselves,
Cant believe the coment that sarah put ?
Well I think that says it all Gill and Sarah. You seem to be isolated in your view of the Dias. I doubt very much that you did visit Dias because like others I have always found this restaurant one of the friendliest on the island. I am sure that if you go next year and identify yourselves then Labros and his staff will still give you a warm welcome. Somehow I don't think you will do that.
I was also wondering if it was Dias that they went to as we have been there several times, always had good friendly service and have also not heard any complaints from other customers while we were there.
Sarah and Gill, are you sure you were in Dias? We have been to Zante 5 times in the last two years, and not only do we eat regularly in Dias, we have stayed there three times too. We have NEVER been met with less than exemplorary service, friendly attitudes and a feeling of being "special" when eating here. We have requested "specials" not even on the menu, and had them cooked and served with a smile. We have NEVER felt rushed at Dias, whereas we were crammed into a table, ignored and eventually served with sub-standard food at your favourite restaurant!!!! My suggestion is, you eat at the restaurant that you find so good, and we'll stick to Dias, THE best restaurant, in our opinion, in Kalamaki
I was very shocked to read some negative comments made against the service at dias recently. I visited there late September this year and the staff and waiters couldn't be more polite and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them I ate every single meal there and will be again when I return!!
Thanks to you all at DiasWe visit the Dias everytime we holiday in Zante and never once have we found the service anything other than first class. We have been in a large party and this year just 3 of us and the manners of the staff are always impeccable.
Miss Gill i dont usually comment in this website but i feel compelled to do so ass its not the food that you judging but my employees attidude my restaurant me personaly and in extension my familly that run this establishment for the last sixteen years.
Our restaurant has the biggest cappacity of seats in kalamaki therefore apart for the obvious reason THAT we respect everybody that desides to exchange his hard earned money for food and services and pay our bills we have NEVER rushed anybody out of the table even on buisy nights with other people waiting for a table .
And that for me is of paramount importance, thats how i like to be treated as a customer and thats how i treat others.
Think to yourself what has higher percentage of profit a plate of fruits, a botlle of water ,a cup of coffee
or a main course that takes five people in the kitcen and a waitor until it comes to your table ? and there is your answer.
Miss sarah didnt we welcome you in?didnt we reply to any of your queries? didnt we served your food ?didnt we clear your table or brought you your bill when we were asked to and ONLY THEN? didnt we gave coplimentary drinks with your bill and wished you goodnight?
did anyone sweared at your party did anyone made any rude comments or obscene gestures to you or to anyone .
I trully fail to understand where you coming from.
as for categorising people in a criteria of social ,economic or ethnic background is an action that i despise
my criteria on people is nice people and bad people.
in any case i apologise for not meeting your expectation but unfortunely nobody informed me of them.
feel free to contact me in first person next time you visit our island or through e-mail lakolt@yahoo.com for anything else
Koltoukis Labros
i agree totaly with sarahs comment we went to dias my son and husband both had meals but i just wanted fruit the response from the waiter was a huff and even though it was not busy they just wanted you out the meals were not very enjoyable due to this when we last visitd two years ago their was 12 people and attitude totaly different no matter wot the size of party same service should be given to all we going back zante next year but will not be going the dias
After going Zante for ten years, the Dias as always been a place we have popped in to a few times each time we have gone. But after going back for the first time in 2 years i was abit shocked by what had happened to the place.
That being that the staff where just plain rude and you go the feeling that because all the party where not having food they just wanted to get us out as fast as they could.
I just hope this is not a sign of things to come as they give off the feeling of wanting high class people in there only and not your every day people.
Very nice place to go, the waiters are really friendly and helpful. Food is very good, although watch the wine - ours was corked, and had to be firm when mentioned. It was taken off the bill but the replacement drinks were not!
One of my favourite restaurants.Food is very good and always a friendly service from the staff, especially Labros.I always recommend Dias to new visitors to Kalamaki.
We had seven lovely meals here out of 14 during our holiday.
Just arrived home a few days ago.
Yummy food, great atmosphere and brilliant staff
Just got back from Kalamaki (yesterday!) and we chose to eat at Dias on the last night.
just got back fri .when we are in Kalamaki we always get to go here been so many times now and never fail to be dissapointed Great meals again look forward to next year val godden
Hey everyone at diaz. Hope all is well. I spent a week at diaz this summer with the Murphys, remember MIKEY, how could you not, ha.All the food was fabulous, especially the 'Steak a la Cream' ,only when served by Lambros though. (only jokin). Service was exceptional and extremely friendly bar staff. Hi to Howard and Lindsey hopefully ill see you all next year
Travelled from Argassi just to eat here - the food is fantastic and the service is top class - going back in 2 days and cant wait to eat in this lovely restaurant
We only ate at Dias once on the suggestion of our holiday rep who promised the authentic Greek food that we wanted, we were not disappointed in the least.
It is always nice that the staff remember us each year. Meals we had in Dias were delicious. The Gyros is beautiful and Moussaka excellent. Good value for money and very polite staff.
Only ate at Dias towards the end of our holiday but wished we'd tried it sooner!!
We have been comming to the Dias now since 1997 and we have never had a bad meal ever! The people at the Dias definatley know how to look after you here. I would reccomend the Dias Chicken and the Chicken Souflaki here as they are both Excellent dishes. The Cheese and Spinich Pies are a must here too. Most Dishes are served with Fluffy Rice, Chips or Greek Roast Potatoes and peas and carrots which are lovely. The Dias has always been my Favourite Taverna in Kalamaki and always will be.
A big Hi to Labros and everyone at the Dias, Take care and see you all next year!Ate here twice and both times the meal was superb, the service was excellent and everyone very friendly
Thank you for the lovely food and service, we had fried squids and garlic chicken, and pot skins and chicken curry - was lovely!!
This is now one of my favourite places to eat, food is always good tried several different dishes including the spag bol, al pesto, chicken Dias, chicken in a basket and Chicken Souvlaki, staff are always friendly and happy to help. Will be back again next year. Thank you Labros and Co. for looking after us.
visited Dias on 6th July. Food was good and restaurant was very busy. Atmosphere was lacking and felt that it could have been better - as shame about being close to main Kalamaki main road and bars which resulted in a lot of road traffic going past - which for me spoilt the atmosphere.
Hi coming back to see you all 3rd aug for 2 weeks just hope Nikos is still behind the bar!!! Janine, Martin george and lottie xxxx
Ate here three times this holiday, excellent as usual. The beef stifado was FAB, we both tried that. The Spaghetti Mexican and the Spaghetti Carbonara to die for. Labros arranged a "special" tomato saganaki for Andrew, perfect with pitta bread for dipping - yuuuuummmmmmy!!! We will continue to believe this is THE best restaurant in Kalamaki, see you again in September for more delicious food.
Had one meal here as we were only at resort for one week and what we ate was excellent.
Went here a couple of times and the food was good and very well priced.
Paul i have to say Dias in the best in Kalamaki - i stayed a few years a go, so i am sure staff are different now, but i will most defo be eating here as i am sure the standard will be the same.I have never had a bad meal anywhere in Zante and ive been 4 times and eating all over Zante, i have to say the people are the best and the Island is so beautiful, i cant wait until the 15th July - when i go for a 2 week holiday.
Another year another fortnight of eating like a king. The Dias has once again retained its high standards but I expected no less. The proof is in the pudding(pardon the pun)
Staff were lovely however the food was really disappointing. The vegetables were out of a tin and the food did not appear to be freshly cooked.
As usual we had some really nice meals here, i always clear my plate as it is so tasty. Staff always helpful and friendly. Thank you
Lovely atmosphere if you ignore the road noise. Very friendly service, excellent food. Had three meals here and could not fault any. Potato skins with cheese and bacon , souvlaki, roast lamb, pork in apple sauce, sirloin steak, baklava, strawberry's with cream are all recommended. this place is not on the main road in kalamaki, its just behind cronulla hotel. go and find it....you will not be disappointed
Had a fantastic meal here with Joolz and family. As always the food was delicious, the staff were lovely and the service was excellent. Can highly recommend the Chicken Souvlaki with bacon Look forward to seeing you all again next year.
Had one meal here, one week is seriously not enough, i had Chicken Dias again with Greek potatoes it was fab, i think that i nearly cleared the plate which is unusual for me.
Once again we had a fab meal at this restaurant. Lovely staff and nice location. Wish we were bacj there!!! Back in England and it is raining.
One of the reasons we keep returning to Kalamaki, is the very high standard of restaurants throughout the resort, we have visited many of the greek islands, some very small, others very busy...and to me The Dias shines out like a beacon above them all...lovely setting..fantastic food...and warm and welcoming staff...
Very nice restaurant unfortunatly the Beef stifado my girlfriend ordered was more fat than beef and she refused to return. May well have been a one off.
Enjoyed our meals here, brilliant meze starter, chicken dias was my tops and the beef stifado one of the best my husband has eaten anywhere. Great atmosphere, nice friendly staff and good value for money.
FAB as usual!!!! Thanks Labros and team for ALL the wonderful meals, yet again. It just gets better each visit. Don't forget to pay us a visit when you come over
This is the very best place to eat in Kalamaki. The service was wonderful, the waiters were very busy but still had time to serve you well. The lamb chops were the best I have ever tasted. Always buy a bottle of wine, it is not too expensive but loads better. Enjoy, you will.
Attached to the Hotel Dias, this is the best restaurant on the Island.
