That will be great.  Not too long to go now.  Do you have any children around the age 12 mark?.  We have 2 girls both 12 who will be looking to make new friends.

Joaana A  (26 June 2005)

Ive found some pictures now! silly me!

Joaana A  (26 June 2005)

Hi all! can anyone tell me where i can veiw more pictures of arkadianos appartments othe than the select few from the home page???

Andrew C  (25 June 2005)

Hi Joanne, with regards to the sign there is one main table in the Wild Rose which is purely for adults and another which is for general use. At the back hotel pool there are two further tables that are for general use as well. Im sure if he is playing with someone responsilble in a proper game he would be allowed to play on the adult table. Hope this helps

Joanne M (25 June 2005)

Please can somebody put my mind at ease. I noticed that on one of the pictures a sign saying no under 16's on the pool table does anyone know where this is as my 13 year old son will go berserk for a fortnight with no pool. Does anyone have children who have been on the tables and if they are responsible enough is age overlooked.

Joanne G  (23 June 2005)

Hi Andy, thanks for that.  Have sent an e mail over, will see how it goes.  Hope you have a good 2 weeks.  Would love to have been there same time but never mind.  Take care and if you can manage a week when we are there, will c u at breezers.  Send our love to everyone and we will c them soon.  Joanne.  xxx

Andrew C  (23 June 2005)

Hi Joanne & Dave, sorry been busy. The email address says its info@arkadianos.com, however if you try this on the web i.e. www.arkadianos.com it doesnt show the page, however if you type www.arkadianos.gr the website does come up, so i think if you try info@arkadianos.gr you should get somewhere, a bit long winded but hope you understand.

Lesley W  (21 June 2005)

Hi Steph

I think I will be back before you go,so never mind.

Have a good holiday

Lesley

Joanne G  (21 June 2005)

Hello there to Andy and Stacey and anyone we met last year in August.  Guess what, we have booked our holiday today.  Any idea where we are going?  Oh yes, Arkadianos, 5 August for 2 weeks.  Awful flights but what the hell.  R U still getting married in August?  It would be great if you were going same time.  Can't believe it will be our 3rd year running.  How is everyone? Does Laura still work at spiros boats?  Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Andy do you have an e mail number for apartments so I can request a room?  Anyone going around these dates look forward to meeting you, maybe for a drink or 5 at breezer bar!!  Think it is 6 weeks and 5 days to go.  Not counting or anything!  See you soon.  Joanne, Dave, Gemma and Ashleigh xxxx

Lesley W  (17 June 2005)

Me and my husband are travelling to the arkadianos on 1st sept. We bring quite a baggage with 2 children aged 10 and 13 and a mother whos a bit of a party babe.  We would love to hear from anyone who is going at a similar time or has been at a similar time in past years.  Were not snobs and as long as the beers flowing and the musics playing well have a ball.  We also want to know if the karaoke is still going and if theres a waterpark anywhere near.

hope to hear from someone soon

Anne H  (14 June 2005)

Tongue  Hi Sarah and Lynn, Jordan and Jacob have really missed your girls - the second week wasn't the same for them.  Got some great photos of them all together, will get them copied and send them over.  Jordan keeps saying he'll phone Kelly but then gets really embarrased - sweet!

Stacey/Andy, sorry we didn't get to see you the night before you left, really jealous your going back there soon.  Back at work now and soooo depressed.  Stacey, if your still coming to Manchester for your hen night let me know and we'll get into town.
Embarrassed
Brilliant holiday, need another, brought some red vodka home but it ain't the same.  Would recommend Arkadianos (try saying it when drunk) to anyone.

Polite people ready to help anytime.  kelly would like to say hello to Jacob and Jordan hope you had a safe journey home.  There is a lovely walk allong the beach to laganas.

Andrew C  (07 June 2005)

OMG, what a week. I couldnt believe how much Gary and Karen could drink, but thanks for a great holiday over the week. Excellent time yet again, I am  glad to be home to give my liver and kidneys a rest (donations gratefully accpeted). Big hello to everyone we met out there this time, it seems the Arkadianos family just gets bigger and bigger. Definately shows there are more people out there who love this place than those who dont. See you all soon

Lynn R  (06 June 2005)

Anne H  (06 June 2005)

Hi just returned from Arkadianos and it was the best Holiday we have had, so good that we have booked to go back next year.  We meet some great friends there including the barmen Eris and Tori. The hotel was lovely basic but thats fine it is only to sleep in! Plenty of places to eat that do great food.  Great trips to including waterpark and shipwreck cruice. Great nightlife near bar for them wanting it. Anyone that was there 19th May to 2nd June 2005 hello from Darren, Anne, Jason, Michael and Bailey. Fab Holiday.

Karen R  (05 June 2005)

Hi Andy,Stacey,Nicole and Sam

Allan N  (25 May 2005)

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlarge Got back on May 19th from 2 weeks.  Went last may as well and I love this place.  The place is so clean and the staff so friendly.  A big hello to Mentor, Erjon, Evangelise, Helen, Mia, Henna, Christina, Nico, Paris, Yanis, Bianca and Zoe.  Anyone I forgot...sorry...!.  Looks like we will be back late sep to ealy oct.

Lynn the Rep for Sunset and the kids club girls Rachel and Dizzy Hoops (I know very strainge) were great. As a former travel agent I have to say this place offers great value.
Try walking by the beach to Lagana, there is a pathway now and its a great way to get some sun and see the harbour and island. And it will save you 8 Euro's.
The Ole' Ole' was great as usual but had no T-Bone's while we were there this time..

Well adio for now and will see you later in the season Efxaristo

Andrew C  (21 May 2005)

Well I didnt plan on it but today I booked to go back, I apologise to you all that have to put up with me....see you at Breezer bar. Cant wait...all excited lol. Leeave late on 29th from Glasgow, and celebrating my birthday on the first day im there, think it may be a messy one!!!

Karen G  (21 May 2005)

just got back from arkadianos for the second year running, had a fantastic time, the wild rose was very quiet but then again so was the hotel !!  gonna book for later in the year!!!!!!   would recommend this place to anyone

Vikki B  (21 May 2005)

Can anybody please tell me what has happened to the Picture Link to the Arkadianos Appartments.  Is it just my PC?  I can only view the pictures just after I have posted a comment on here.  We are all going to Arkadianos in 2 1/2 weeks time and we can't wait, I just came on to have a look at the pictures and can't get to view them.  If anyone can help me I would be really grateful.  Thanks

Steph H  (18 May 2005)

Trouble is, you can't please all the people all the time, we're off to spain in a few days, and I'm sure we'll have a good time, holidays are what you make them, as Andy says, but  I'm sooooo wishing I was returning to Ag Sos, as we who know fondly call it.!!!!! Still theres always next year. Hope you all enjoy your hols.

Andrew C  (16 May 2005)

I will do Jillian, I must admit, I can see why people wouldnt want to stop, there are certain aspects. The main point is that most people who have enjoyed it there have let themselves go and not let the little things get them down......yeah there are areas which could be better, isnt there on any holiday and again not every holiday is perfect. Im sure that everyone has a favourite place but that doesnt mean other people will like it. I think the good thing about this board is that there are a large number of people with similar comments.!

Jillian M  (16 May 2005)

Thanks for that Andrew, it was these guys who helped make our holiday what it was.  After about a week of trying to convince me I finally went on a boat trip with Semi on his last day working on the tourist boats, although I was scared stiff (I hate the water) if he still remembers me can u please tell him thank you again I had a lovely day.

I would love to return here one day and I can't honestly believe some people hate these apartments so much.  Anyone who is thinking of going, unless you are used to 4 or 5 star accommodation YOU SHOULD NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.  It is a great holiday and i am sooo jealous of everyone who is going there this year.

Andrew C  (15 May 2005)

Jillian, the guys are still there, spent a lot of time with Eris and Semi when I went over to see Tori in February. I am sure that when you return they will be happy to see you as this is what the guys strive for. I think Jillian you have hit the nail on the head. Agios Sostis is becoming a busy resort. There are going to be times when things are slightly noisy or a room isnt what you thought it would be, but as most people on this board mention they spent most of the time discovering Zante and having a few sherberts at night, enjying themselves and the company around them. I know im bias but some of the best times I have had is sociallising around the Breezer Bar (sometimes never making it into the club lol)

You have to remember that to get a flight alone to Zante is about £250 and if you book your hols you probably spend the same sort of price. If you want to know exactly what you want in the picture and to be able to complain about everything that comes your way then this isnt the place for you. This is a very laid back society and area of Zante. Things arent done as soon as somebody says jump, but to be honest I thought that was the idea of a holiday........to relax!!

Lastly, I apologise if anyone does go and has a poor holiday due the comments on here but I am sure that the majority as you can see have had a fantastic time and return annualy wherever possible. As long as you are generally a chilled out person who wants a break from the daily grind then I can thoroughly recommend thats what you will get. Remember as well that its not just the place and accomodation, its down to you to make the most of your holiday.

Oonagh D  (14 May 2005)

This was probably the worst place we have ever stayed in.  I asked the rep how they had the nerve to call our room a four bed apartmentThree women who stayed in the same room could not shut their door when all three were present. They were moved, but they still slept in shifts. I would never ever go there again. The car hire was a total rip off,  We were asked for about £100 for three days car hire but as the car had to be returned before six pm on the last day, it felt like two and a half days . This was very poor value for money. We go to Zante at least once a year and we have always enjoyed it, but please if you have not booked your holiday at this aparthotel. stop and think again.  It is a good resort but this is terrible accommodation.  If you have already booked, Oh dear! Iam so so sorry I hope you have better luck than we did.  Legal advice before you go might be useful.

Big fans of Zante

Julie C (14 May 2005)

Hi Can anyone advise whether the kids club is running in the summer 2005 season. The brochure I booked from states there is a kids club although no mention of kids clubs in subsequent brochures. If anyone has been this season (since 01.05.05), can you advise. Many thanks Julie

Lucy W  (13 May 2005)

I went on my honeymoon to Argassi last year. Myself and my husband had such a lovely time that we have booked again for August 2006 in the Arkadianos Apartments. Its lovely to read such nice comments about these apartments it sets my mind at rest. So what if they are basic, we hardly spent any time in out apartment in Argassi as we were out and about enjoying the lovely island of Zante. Any tips for things to see and do would be greatly appreciated. Is it far to walk to Lagana?

Mrs L Wilson

Jillian M  (12 May 2005)

I was at the Arkadianos for a girlie holiday 2 years ago in August and I can honestly say it was the best holiday ive ever had in my whole life.  Although the apartments are very basic, we really didn't care to be honest for all the time we actually spent indoors we hardly saw our rooms.

The locals in Zante are the friendliest I have ever had the pleasure of coming across in my whole life.  Unfortunately my boyfriend has seen the pictures of how gorgeous they are also and says I am not going back, not even with him.  What are guys like.

Andrew, you sound like you spend a lot of time there can you tell me if Eris, Semi, Ladi and Ilia are still around, unfortunately when I started seeing Alex last year he deleted their numbers from my phone and I haven't spoken to them for quite a while now.

Anyway i just want to say to anyone who is thinking of going to the Arkadianos, it is a fantastic place to go and if you like the sun, cheap drink and a laugh then you will love it here, after all your holiday is what you make of it.

Louchie   (09 May 2005)

FAO Andrew

Hi Andrew. I'm sorry to jump in on this board but I see from you previous comments that you have stayed at Bougainvillea Apts previously. Could you please have a look at my post on the Bougainvillea's board and let me know what you thought.

Thanks,
Lou.

Vikki B  (08 May 2005)

I can definitely recommend Merlis Rentals in Kalamaki, we had a car from Merlis Rentals and Julie is great, she delivered the car to Arkadianos promptly and collected it again when we had finished.  We are going to Arkadianos in June this year and we have already reserved our car with Julie for a week.  They might be cheaper than the rest but they definitely reliable and the insurance cover is fantastic and covers all sorts of problems so you won't be caught out when you return the car

Lesley W  (07 May 2005)

Hi
My kids are the same age so I will be watching this space too,but were now going until mid July.

We are going to hire a car and the best price on the net so far has been

Merlis Rentals,Kalamaki ,  Can anybody recommend a rental company ?Confused

Neil C (03 May 2005)

i will be going to zante for the first time staying at the arkadianos apts with 3 kids aged 14,12,10 just want to know if theres plenty to do......cheers

Andrew C  (03 May 2005)

Hi Marissa n shannon, yes I am the "Andrew" you refer to, and sam is growing fast. It was a great week in october even tho things were coming to an end. I have booked to return on June 26th for two weeks and also hoping to get away for a week over th emay half term holidays. If you have a look at the photos you should be able to see pics, why not put one up there of yoursleves? I think its your family in the picture (although not a good one) titled the girls from scotland. They were a great laugh!! Anyone else going the dates above........im sure you will see me by breezer bar, or behind it lol

Marissa N  (21 April 2005)

this is us if anyone remembers us?

Marissa N  (21 April 2005)

hi again is andrew the guy who was there in october with his 2 children? the little cute boy sam? we were there with my mum and dad from scotland on the last week? xxxx

Marissa N  (21 April 2005)

hi. we were there twice last year and we luved it. any1 there on the first two weeks in july or the last week in october berfore the arkadianos shut? we miss all the boys!  does any1 still keep in contact with becos? i lost his number and havent phoned him in a cupple of weeks. hoping to go back in summer luv marissa and shannon xx

Lisa W  (15 April 2005)

I stayed at this hotel in October with my husband and three children aged 4, 7 and 13.  It is the best holiday i have ever had.  The location of this hotel is fantastic.  Very friendly management, the taverna next door was soooo friendly and food excellant.  I must say the room was very basic, but who cares with the surrounding view and so many things to do on the island it did not matter at all.  We have been to several greek islands, but this was our all time favourite and we are definately going back next year.  Beach was excellent for young children as it is shallow for some way out.  It is the most peaceful and relaxing place I have ever stayed.

Stephanie H  (13 April 2005)

Just to add to Vicki's comments, I would be willing to swop my 1week in Spain, and two weeks in Florida, which I have been 'made to do'!!by the kids, for just  2 weeks at the Arkadianos apts, we love it so much, cant wait till next year.!!!!!!!

Vikki B  (11 April 2005)

We stayed at the apartments last may and found them to be very basic, but vey clean, as said before the maid is in every morning and to be perfectly honest you couldn't ask for more.  The staff are very helpful, you only need to ask them and they will go out of their way to help you too.  We are all going back early in June this year and can't wait.  When we were going in May last year we were worried about some of the horrible comments posted on here but we had the best time of our lives.  Don't worry about anything at all, if it was filthy and horrible why would most of the guests return year after year????  Have a lovely holiday and look forward to it as Arkadianos is a great to stay at!!!!

Melanie H  (11 April 2005)

i have stayed in many places around greece, and i can asure you that the woman (sarah) is talking s**t.  they are very clean and yes they are basic but the cleaners are there every morning.  zante is wonderful and the settings is perfect you couldnt want more inless your a snob!

Sarah   (29 March 2005)

Myself and two friends went to the Arkadianos last September, we had to be moved from the accomodation as it was absoultely disguting, on arrival during the night we were taken to a room which had not been cleaned we could not even bare to sit in the room until morning, when we asked to move  the reception staff were extremley rude, we were offered another room on the compelx which was even worse, we looked around the complex in the morning the pool, beach and bar area was filthy. We would of preferred to return home than stay there! After speaking to the Rep we were then moved to another resort which we had to pay for,  How this hotel has such good rating I will never know, I would not let my dog stay there! After moving into Laganas into a hotel called Aphrodite we had a much imporved start to our holiday!

Cj   (17 March 2005)

I have just put some pics on the site from two years ago. I was there in May 2003 with my mum and I fancy going back this year! I had a great time and made some good friends. I lost touch with everyone when i got my new mobile phone so if anyone has any contact details for Eri and Tori his cousin I would be so grateful if you could pass them on to me! Eri took me all over the island on a moped and showed me places i would never have seen! I would love to get in touch with these guys before I go back!Does Isabel work there still? I lost her number too!

I have the email and phone number for the apts but no response? Can anyone help?
Claire

Andrew C  (25 February 2005)

Stopping over with Tori and having a look at property in Ag.Sostis area, towards Lithakia. Really having a good hunt around to see whats about. I am flying from Manchester to Athens and then to Zante. I tried doing it cheaply through easy jet and then the ferry but the time you spend hanging around or travelling meant it wasnt worth it for the hassle. My flight is £280.00 and if i had done it the cheap way it would have been around £220.oo so for an extra £60 i save myself a lot of hassle. I think everyone should put a picture of themselves up to give us an idea of who we are chatting to........

Angela M  (22 February 2005)

Hi Andrew, the Arkadianos is not open till May we found out. Are you taking the ferry over?. Have the boys told you where to look for property, We had a look round in July/October. What boys are you staying with, as we have been too busy to text them recently.

Andrew C  (20 February 2005)

Hi Angela, I am actually going to stop with the boys over there. I dont think Arkadianos is open till the season starts again, maybe wrong tho. I am going to see what property is around as I fancy the idea of owning there. I have arranged to see a few people over there but mainly the guys are going to show me around........oh we may go and have a few beers as well!!!!

Angela M  (18 February 2005)

Stephanie H  (19 October 2004)

Andy, hope you have a good time, and dont spend the week sleeping under the stars!!Won't everthing in Ag Sos be shut as well? We might attemp to visit on Mon 25th, we would like to see our friends at Maestro's, other than that, we will be content to stay in Tsilivi, after all, we just want some SUN, R & R. Might bump in to you somewhere, anyway, have a good time.

Linda D  (17 October 2004)

Me and my patner and are 4 children jade 11 , james 8 , caitlin 6 . and grant 4, arrived at arkadianos on the 20th of september 2004. We stayed at room 203t very basic and dark. When we arrived the lights were not working, they where fixed very quick. The kids loved the pool. A bit cold. They also loved the kids club. That was about the only thing that there was for the kids. The wild rose was ok but not very good for young children.I thought it was like a nocking shop. My kids where so board on a night time they would fall asleep before they got there meal. You had miles to walk to get to lagnas, when you have 4 children you can not afford to get two taxis every time you want to go to lagnas. It would have done better if there was a bit more for kids. The weather was great that was about it. We would never go back.It would of been ok for me and my patner on are own but not for the kids. and they could do with a lift.We went on a few trips they where good the cruise and the zafri the aqua park was a bit naff. But at least it was a day out. The walls where paper thin you could hear everything .We got back on the 4th of October at 7.40 am back to sunny benwell newcastle. The kids loved eddy the parrot and the lizard. It was not the best of hoildays come back with plenty of photos. It gets a bit nippy on a night time. Not as cold as newcastle.

Graeme D  (12 October 2004)

The Duncan clan have just returned Oct 11th from what was an excellent holiday.Staff very friendly and Jodie at the Kids club was great with my 3 Lauren 6 Cameron 5 and Kyle 5. Beach fantastic for children and had some great meals at Maestros and Sirrocos and great cocktails at the OK Corrall.Go to the Reptile house in Laganas where the children and my wife had a great time with snakes,Lizards and scorpions. Would go back as we enjoyed it.

Andrew C  (09 October 2004)

Thats why I asked Steph, it appears that anyone going on the 21st (Thursday) will be transfered. i have spoken to the reps out there and they said that all parties had been informed and agreed. So, after lengthy conversations with tori i have decided that I am either going to stop in either bouganville in Ag.sostis or somewhere in Laganas on that side. email me and we will have to get in touch when you are there. Apparently the wild rose and pool bar will all be shut as well :( boo hoo

Stephanie H  (05 October 2004)

Andy, we're going on the 24th Oct, but it would seem that we now have to stay in Tsilivi, we are VERY DISSAPOINTED! Arkadianos has decided to close early. Have you got any influence in changing their mind?!!!!

Andrew C  (04 October 2004)

To stephanie.........when are you due to go?

Ben W  (03 October 2004)

We got back about two months ago and we have already planned to go back !!!!! it was brill. we stayed in room 201. the veiw was brill. if u want to hire a boat go to arkadianos/spiros boat hire the people are really kind. if u go with thomas cook go to a night to remember it s great !!!!

Stephanie H  (30 September 2004)

Hi Lesley, my family and I (five of us) stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment last year, and this year. I did put a picture of the view on last year (room 221), the only bad thing about this room, was the miniscule balcony, I have never seen such a small one!!!!!This year, we had room 220, which was directly opposite, much bigger balcony, not quite such a nice view, but it wasn't at all bad. These rooms were in the main block.Cant help with the flight situation, but I think if they have a room available, you can pay to have it later, hope this helps.

Lesley W  (29 September 2004)

Just booked for next year. I would like to know if the two bedroom apts are ok? Can anyone give me a room No which is extra large that i can ask for on arrival with a stunning sea view. I have seen some of the pictures of the views and they look great, but i dont know if they are 2 bedroooms. There will be 2 adults and 3 children. looking at the photos on this site the rooms look small and basic.
our flight back to Newcastle is at 6.00am and we have to be out the room at noon the previous day. What happens? Do they provide a room?

Stephanie H  (27 September 2004)

Our tickets arrived today,......yipee....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve O  (27 September 2004)

Just returned on September 26th. Excellent location, friendly staff, but walls are paper thin, so for a light sleeper like myself, didn't get much solid sleep.Relaxing days on the beach and a warm sea helped!

Andrew C  (24 September 2004)

Hi Joanne and all, if you want my email address look under all my comments and thee shall find xxx

Joanne G  (22 September 2004)

Andy managed to get back on site by a bit of hit and miss. You have still not said what Lol means? Put your e mail address on site and we will send you and stacey some messages.

Danielle O (22 September 2004)

Mr Duncan. It does get cooler at night and the breeze picks up.It is great for sleeping and the apartments supply extra sheets and blankets in the wardrobe, so no need to worry.we didnt need jackets or anythign but i did take a cardigan a couple of nights.Hope this helps

Graeme D (21 September 2004)

Is it better to take sterling travellers cheques or euro's and does the hotel change them. Also wondering if there's a cash machine in the resort. We're going this Sunday and due to the favourable comments on this excellent site we are really looking forward to it.Going by the weather forecast it looks ok during the day but can anyone tell me if it gets cold at night we'll be their from 26th sep to the 11th oct.
Cheers
The Duncan Clan

Bev   (21 September 2004)

thankyou Stephanie and Danielle we are realy looking forward to going on sunday. taking a little one in a buggy dont think i'll be trying the rocky way!

Stephanie H  (20 September 2004)

Kate, we didn't take much notice, because we ate out, but there is at least one, because we used it, and I think there was a frying pan.I would advise you to take your own tin openers, and sharp knive etc, as there wasn't much of that sort of thing either.!!

Kate M  (19 September 2004)

thanks stephanie got a fussy 2yr old can you tell me if any saucepans provided thanks

Stephanie H  (17 September 2004)

This is for Kate, if you're thinking about attempting to cook a full roast dinner, forget it!!Seriously though, there is only 2 electric rings, good enough for boiling a saucepan of water for tea and thats about it.But Maestros resteraunt is a few short steps away, and will gladly provide anything you want, just ask.Hope this helps.

Danielle O  (16 September 2004)

Survived the airport and made it home. Had one of the best holidays ever. Had an amazing time!will definaltly go back.Cannot fault the aprtments or location. Laganas is just under two miles away and cost just 8 euros in a taxi.Highly reccommend the karaoke at the wild rose!!Very drunken nights those were.

Kate M  (16 September 2004)

can anybody tell me what facilities are like in self catering gather there basic but want to know just how basic any info would be much appreciated

Andrew C  (15 September 2004)

Leslie S  (15 September 2004)

anyone any pictures of studio apartments going in july and never been in studio

Stephanie H  (14 September 2004)

Andrew, myself and my daughter will be 'a la Arkadianos ' from 25th Oct, perhaps we could get together, as we seem to be running this site between us!!!!!!!!! Not long now, maybe see you there.(I'm the short podgy one with spikey hair)!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Stephanie H  (12 September 2004)

Bev, Laganas is about 10 mins away in a taxi, which you can book at reception, the fare is about 8 euros. Or if you're feeling adventurous, you can walk along the cliff way, which takes about 30 mins, but make sure you wear something more suitable than flip flops!!!. Have a great time.

Andrew C  (12 September 2004)

Sorry Joanne must have been in a rush (you know its not like me!!). Not long till the 21st October. I might just sit myself at the bar for a week......(make a change)

Bev (11 September 2004)

hi we are coming to Arkadianos in a couple of weeks and i'm wondering how far is laganas away is puplic transport/taxis eaily avalible?

Stephanie H  (11 September 2004)

6 weeks to go....cant wait to get back.!!!!!!!!!!

Joanne G  (10 September 2004)

Hi there, just sat here 2 weeks after arrived home from the 2nd time at this resort and accomm. wish i was there now. Andy I can't believe u marked everything average on your last comment, it is your second home. Anway thanks to Andys advise we decided to get a taxi from accomm to airport. only cost 15 euros so if anyone worried about transfers my advise is not to pre book, you can get a taxi easy from airport and return, you will not have to queue as long and you get to spend more time in the sun. This place is a must and anybody who hesitates about booking due to some of the previous comments, don't worry if I could live there I would, it is so relaxed, the people are fab and so is the food. Love it loads.

Loz R  (10 September 2004)

The apartments fit in perfectly with Agios Sostis resort as a whole; not too busy but not dead either. Terrific views of the bay, surrounding islands and hills to the rear. A truly lovely beach that is clean and safe, and where there are several fab tavernas on the water front. I highly recommend hiring a motor boat to see the turtles in the bay (the're massive!!) as an excellent way to finish a fantastic holiday.

Nathan W  (10 September 2004)

Just got back this morning, yes I survived Zante airport. What a brilliant holiday. The photos of the bay do not do it the justice that it deserves. Lagana bay is picture perfect and the water is calm and clear. Lagana is near enough to be accessible but far enough away to keep a little peace from the clubbers. The room we had a pylon outside but we still had a good view of the back pool and over the back hills.
The staff were all very helpful, especially at trying, and suceeding, to get you drunk. All in all a fantastic stay that I would reccomend to anyone.

Andrew C  (07 September 2004)

the web site is www.arkadianos.com and the email is info@arkadianos.com

Lena C (04 September 2004)

Andrew C  (02 September 2004)

Yet another fantastic time. I am only just recovering from severe kidney damage. I am probably a bit bias but I strongly recommend this place (good job im on commission). Big hello to everyone we met this time round for making it a fantastic time. Just looking to book again for another return. Fred if you read this I hope your foot is better!!! I will try and get some photos up soon, some strange ones to see. Would be great to see everyone back there next year.

Mary S  (01 September 2004)

Started off in room 106 which was horrid, very dark and dingy but got moved to 219, which has the best view and great balcony but all the noise from Breezers and the Wild Rose. Reception staff are really helpful and Mentor managed to get everyone very drunk! Cleanliness borderline in rooms but good elsewhere. Maestro is a wonderful restaurant, the food was really good as was the atmosphere. Had a great holiday, would even consider living here!

Joanne G  (28 August 2004)

Hi there. Just returned from another fab 2 weeks at Arkadianos. We had room 320 which is the front building, overlooked sea and also front pool, views fantastic. Met loads of great people and really didn't want to come home. All staff really friendly especially Mentos, Eris and Annie all at Breezer bar. Wish I was still there. Can't wait to go back. If anyone has any questions don't hesitate to ask. Hi to Andy and Stacey who got engaged whilst they were on holiday.

Rudi H  (26 August 2004)

Just want to say we had a great time with you in Zakynthos. Like to say hi to everyone there.Maybye I come back next year if its ok it will be with the "Paul family"

Clive & Sharon  (22 August 2004)

(Family of 4, kids 12 & 14)Arrived back on the 19th August after two weeks at these apartments.
Very basic, take a kettle if you want tea/coffee. We stayed in room 116 and probably had the worst balcony, no view at all, but we did not mind too much as we only had breakfast on it. The only downside was the noise from other guests, some people seem to keep their children up until 3am and then fit steel bosts on them and tell them to run up and down the corridors.
Rooms were kept very clean and all the staff were more than helpful and very friendly, even at 2 in the morning.
Hire a small boat from opposite the Wild Rose very reasonable and helpful, great fun too!
The Wild Rose was far too noisy for us but the cocktails were good. Maestro, Scirroco and Syritaki restaurants were all very good, with pleasant staff and very reasonable with there prices. Would go back again, but maybe stay in the Scirroco apartments this time.

Paul & Angela  (17 August 2004)

We enjoyed our stay so much that we are coming back next July.

What else can we say.....

Say hi to Mentor and Erion and of course Bianca and Hanny.

See you soon.

Lisa   (15 August 2004)

just returned from arkadianos.fantastic sea.very shallow and warm.good for kids as you dont need to worry about the depth. the beach was lovely.you have to pay 2.50euros per sunbed on the beach.maestros was a good cheap place to eat.wild rose was great.kids did the kareoke.adults had the cocktails and mythos lager.aiden behind the bar very friendly. the apartments were clean but basic.take a travel kettle with you as there isn't one in the room nor is there a toaster. we ate out all the time. the swimming pools were clean and great fun for kids and the adults.

Julie M  (15 August 2004)

HI,
Not long back from the Arkadianos, FANTASTIC place. We went as a group with lots of children and young adults (the dreaded teenager) with ages ranging from 2yrs to 62yrs(don't tell my mum I told you). I can honestly say that everything was fantastic. When the brochure says 10m from the beach it wasn't joking....and what a beach - beautiful and VERY safe for kids as it shelves very gently, and i mean very. The staff at the appartments were very helpful and full of tips that made the stay perfect.
Our appartment - 109 - was just by the pool bar and even when we had an early night (just once!!!) the noise from this just faded into the background.
The Wild Rose which is the pub at the appartments is brilliant. Tony and Mandy who run it are always up for a laugh and the entertainment they provide is excellent....ask Tony about his 'DOLLY DEALERS' David and Andy!!! My kids are still in therapy!!
The reps night is a must........good food and free drink. We hired a car for a few days and went to the beaches renound for watersports..again a fantastic day, very safety concious, we drove up into the mountains (nerves of steel) and went to the shipwreck on a private boat, worth it but the beach is very stoney, the water has to be seen to be believed, i can honestly say that the Ionian rivals places in the Caribbean We also hired a couple of boats for a day which was great as we saw loads of turtles and some lovely fish when we went snorkling, it really is worth the money and life jackets are supplied even for teenies.

I really can't recommend this place enough, if you have teenagers in your party then Laganas is just down the road and that is full of clubs so they can do their thing.

But be warned about the airpot....quart into pint pot, i say no more!

Have a brilliant time and give my regards to one of the best ploaces i have stayed (and i travel alot)

Nathalie J  (15 August 2004)

hi! I'm coming with my friend Helen on 26th August for a relaxing week in the sun with a bit of partying thrown in!This site is so helpful, really great to know what to expect!Good and bad!Sounds like the exact holiday we were looking for so cant wait!really sounds like a friendly and fun place to go!Anyone just got back can tell me hot it is at mo?!
If you're going soon we will see you there!!!Hurray!

Stephanie H  (14 August 2004)

This is for Laura Thompson (travel agent). Yes you can usually arrange for a late check out room, subject to availability, you arrange and pay this locally. I have the email address:info@arkadianos.com. Hope this helps.

Si &  (13 August 2004)

hiya,we stayed in the arkadinos apartments for 2 weeks. The rooms are very basic and not very soundproof as we could hear the people upstairs talking.the cleanliness is excellent you get clean sheets every day and one of the cleaners even does the washing up for you if there is any dishes in the sink!
the people there are very friendly especially Hanny and Menthos who work behind the breezer bar!
the food is great especially at Maestros.had a great holiday but my teenage children were a bit bored as it was very quiet and was nothing to do there

Laura T  (13 August 2004)

Hi im a travel agent in the north east of england and ive just booked a family to stay in these aparts in july 2005 and the lady is wondering if it is possible to get a late check out room at the aparts as she has pretty horrible flight times. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated as im really struggling to find an email address for the aparts, thank ver much.

Vikki B  (13 August 2004)

Hi Elaine, we went in May so it was quiet then, I have never been in September but am led to believe it is similar top May. Noise is a bit of a problem, but the staff are very friendly and helpful if it cause a problem for you. There are no kettles or toasters, just a little pot to boil some water, we took a travel kettle and it proved to be a very wise decision. Even though the comments on here are very off putting I would definitely go again, I loved it and so did all of my family (kids are 10 and 2. Our room slept 5, there were 3 single beds in one room and 2 single beds in the other, it was room 107 and I did post some photos earlier on this year so you should be able to find them in the picture gallery. Although these apartments are very basic they weren't as bad as we were expecting after some of the comments on here. Hope you have a lovely time!

Elaine C  (12 August 2004)

Hi, just booked these apartments for 2 weeks from 18th Sept 05. Taking kids of 16, 11 and 7. Would like to know whether what facilities are in the apartments, e.g kettles, toasters, etc. Also, has anyone got any info on the rooms that sleep 5, location, size, etc. A bit concerned that some people have commented on the noise at night at the paper thin walls. Not sure if the party animals go here in peak season. Has anyone been around mid Sept? If so, was it quieter then? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Wendy T  (11 August 2004)

What a lovely Island Zante is. Would love to go back some time but i would stay somewhere different as the Arkadianos Apartments are so noisy, young people coming in at 2 and 3 in the morning, the noise was terrible with them jumping in the pool when there are signs up telling you not to go in the pool after a certain time at night and then fighting with people and screaming, when you have young children this is the last thing you want to hear at night, then you have your neighbours who do not have any consideration, who come in and do not know how to shut doors without slamming and with the walls being paper thin.
Didn't think much of the travel reps either, not once on holidays was any of my party asked how they were enjoying their holiday but that was probably because we did not have any children in the kids club. That would have only took up five minutes of their time.
Apartments were clean but basic, but you do not need much when all you want on holiday is somewhere to shower and sleep, we paid for air-conditioning which is 5 euros a night per unit, with most apartments having 2 units, but this is great to keep you rooms cool.
Maestro restaurant is excellent, we ate there most of our holiday as the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and the food is delicious, i loved the saganaki. Syrtaki restaurant lovely place to eat as well, and the greek night at Sirocco is brilliant.
We did a trip round the Island through Spring Tours and that was a great day out, you get to see the Blue caves, Keri caves, and the shipwreck and then round to see the turtles, which we did get to see and the captain of the boat kept circling to let everyone get a look which the kids thought was fantastic as one decided to come up for air.
Breezer Bar a must place to drink, free shots from Mentos who is friends with everyone. Great Karaoke night at the Wild Rose bar.
Airport a bit on the small side, but just glad that we were flying at night as the people we made friends with said it was a nightmare flying through the day.

Thomas D (11 August 2004)

I need some information (I know that this is not politically correct) about Elena Studios. An Italian Travel Agency have just booking a reservation for me.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Ruth M  (11 August 2004)

just come back from a week in arkadianos and me and my friend had the best holiday ever and would seriously consider returning. for anyone else who is going we would reccomend the sunkissed cruise as this is a great day out....the staff were brilliant and all very friendly and if you want to try new cocktails we reccomend the singapore sling or the banana colada!!!

Wendy M  (11 August 2004)

We came back beg of June.Loved Agios sostis but not the paper thin walls of the apts!food fantastic some places better than others.Maestro(hotel res)more expensive and not the best.Best greek food res is past the supermarket(k-mart)turn left up the hill,it overlooks turtle island and has swings for the kids!My older 2 used the kids club but only a couple of times as they enjoyed the pool and sea much more-forget swimming lessons 2 weeks in the pool and they are treading water and diving!!!!!Took a motor boat to turtle island and lagana easy to drive my 6&8 year old had a go they don't go very fast and a great way to turtle spot.cleanliness of the apts was the best i have ever had our cleaner was a star-Learn to speak a few words of greek they appreciate it.Loved the area but would try other appts near by>If you want a room over night ask at other apts nearby for prices first could well be cheaper.Hope this helps.

Gary F  (08 August 2004)

Just returned from Arkadianos and have to say it was brilliant.Location excellent.Staff in the hotel,Wild Rose, Breezer bar and the Mestro restaurent were very friendly and eager to help.Jodie the kids club rep was a credit to the company as she was always smiling and fantastic with the kids. The only disappointment to the whole Holiday was the paper thin walls in the apartments and the 8 Euros to register the kids and then 5 Euros for each session.
We didn't bother taking a lot of cash as all the cash points in Laganas will take English cards. On the subject of Laganas if you want to walk into town the path is a bit hairy for young kids(And a few adults !!!)we found it easier to walk along the beach and re-join the path after the worst bits. There is a bit of paddling involved but the water is only 6inches or so in a few places so the kids love it.

Joanne G  (08 August 2004)

Hi Tracey. When we stayed at these apartments last year we took 2 10 year olds with us and didn't pre book the club as wasn't sure if they would use it all the time. most of the time they didn't as they thought they were a bit old for it but if you have younger children then it might not be too bad. saying that they may go for one or two sessions this year if it gets too hot for them so we will just pay as we go along. i think there was only one time that the club was full over the full 2 weeks but we did go first two weeks of August 2003. You may be a bit late now to pre book it before you go. contact your travel agent and see if you can. with regard to apartments they are basic. if you get one of the front block rooms they are furnished nicer than the back block but as a base they are fine. if you are thinking of doing lots of cooking, don't as cooking facilities very basic. as a whole we loved it and looking forward to going again. only 4 days to go. hope this answers your questions. have a great holiday.

Tracey S (07 August 2004)

The brochure says that the Kids club is available subject to availability. I shall be REALLY upset if it is fully booked - does anyone know if this is likely or any way of booking before hand - we go the last week of August.

Tracey S (07 August 2004)

Just seen the photos of the 1 bedroom apts on this website and am panicking! Are they as grim as the pictures portray?

Stephanie H  (06 August 2004)

Hi Joanne, if you buy sterling travellers cheques here, before you go , you pay commision, but if you buy Euro travellers cheques, then they take a small commision when you cash them. For the first time ever this year, we only took Euros cash, so we didn't have any of the hassle. If you take care, and get a safety deposit box as soon as you can, then its no different from having large amounts of cash in England. Hope this helps. Have a great holiday.

Kirsty   (06 August 2004)

When I went I took euro travellers cheques. But that for ease of getting them changed to euros and not having to get change or coins.

L   (06 August 2004)

We found taking Sterling was a much better option as there was no commission charged. Hope this helps and you have a good holiday.

Joanne G (05 August 2004)

Hi. sorry to ask again but need to get currency in next few days. so if anyone can tell me which currency is best to use i would appreciate it!

Joanne G  (03 August 2004)

Hi forgot to ask is it still better to take sterling travellers cheques or euros. we got a better rate for sterling last year but things could have changed. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Joanne G  (02 August 2004)

Hi there. Went to this resort and apartments last year. loved it so much going again on 12 August. Can't wait. Can anyone please tell me if the paradise restaurant is still open. had some fantastic meals there. we have even tempted two of our friends to come with us so can't be bad. if anyone worried from some of comments you have seen. yes accommodation is basic but what do you expect for Greece? but the resort more than makes up for it. Not too much in way of activities for children, we have two 11 year olds but if you venture into Laganas there are trampolines which our two (and also my partner) enjoyed plus water park which we didn't go to but are this time. The island cruise is a must. shipwreck is fab and can't be missed. We met some great people and probably will this time. looking forward to meeting you from 12 August for 2 weeks.

Lorraine W  (31 July 2004)

we are just back after 2 weeks in aghios sostis,it was pretty basic accomodation in the arkadianos and not some where we would return to,we were told it was a family resort but it was anything but, there is quite a few groups of young folk staying there and when you have 2 young kids the last thing you want is woken at 3 in the morning with them fighting and the racket of them returning from the clubs & pubs, the rooms have no sound proofing at all you can here the people in the next room talking, the kitchen has a fridge and a 2 ringed hob but that is it,there is air conditioning but it costs you 5 euros a day on aplus the rooms are cleaned every day, staff are really nice and friendly. If you plan to walk to Laganas dont take the lovely beach walk as they put it if you have young children it is more of a rock climbing expidition.Kids club was not worth paying for every day it cost us 10 euro for our 5 & 7 year old and they were bored with it.Water park was brilliant and the kids loved it we also hired a motor boat to go to turtle island and it was great!

Kelly E  (29 July 2004)

Stephanie H  (29 July 2004)

Yipee, we're returning in October.

Anne B  (28 July 2004)

Just got back from a 2 week holiday with my hubby and 3 daughters. A bit worried because we booked through TV Travel Shop and hadn't seen any pictures, but we had no need to worry as it was perfect. It was clean and quiet (most of the time - a bit of a problem with noisy neighbours but rep dealt with it.) Kids have to be aged 5 to go to kids club which was a bit of a problem as we were not told of this until our arrival, but Jolly Jodie - who lives up to her name - was great with our 4 year old who couldn't go to the club. The holiday was great and I would go back.

Chris B  (24 July 2004)

hello all..... i am sorry to say that i am the bloke in the pic titled "ohh dear". it was about 4 in the morning and i was slighlty intoxicated.
this place is the best, and we are going back either next year or the year after. the staff are really nice and friendly, and it has a great atmosphere all round.
we went with our 2 year old and 6 year old girls, and had the best time.
the breezer bar was my fave spot, and hanny, torrie and erios (the barstaff) are the best, torrie does try to get u drunk tho...lol
the wild rose has the best barmaid ever. her name is tuesday, and if u go there and see her, tell her cj said hi, and she has to have a red vodka on him.
if ure going u'll have a great time, and if u are thinking of going....go, u won't regret it.
well just one last think to say, hello bianca.
all the best to everyone, and have a great time, see u all again soon.x

Morag M (24 July 2004)

Hugh W  (20 July 2004)

WE HAD A GREAT HOLIDAY APARTMENTS BASIC BUT KEEP VERY TIDY AND CLEAN COOKING FACILITES NOT VERY GOOD BUT WHO WANTS TO COOK ON HOLIDAY. STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL POOL GREAT EATING OUT BRILL FOOD VERY NICE LOTS OF CHOICE.
KIDS CLUB WAS A LOT OF FUN FOR OUR 6 YEAR OLD HOLLY THE REPS VIC & JODIE WERE VERY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL .

Stephanie H  (18 July 2004)

This is for Rebecca Scott, Me and my family have just returned today from Arkadianos, for the second year running, and may go back again in October. You could not ask for anything better situated than these apartments. Yes they are basic, but if you eat out then this doesn't matter. The view from Maestros is breathtaking. The beach is narrow, but rarely gets so busy that you can't find a sunbed, and it is cleaned daily. If you want noise in the form of clubs/bars/ shops etc, then Laganas is only a 15 mins walk away, or 8 euros in a taxi.Everyone, from shop keepers to hotel and resteraunt staff are all so friendly and helpful. You will have a great time, wish we were back already!!Hope this helps.

Stephanie H  (18 July 2004)

Hi Clive, air con is 5 euros per unit, per day, so if you have a larger apartment it works out rather expensive. But when it is hot, it really is worth having. Have a great hol.

Clive I (15 July 2004)

Have the rooms got air-conditioning, if not can you hire fans and how much do these cost. We are going to these apartments in August 2004

Nikki & Darren (12 July 2004)

To anyone going to the Arkadianos Apartments this summer!! Myself and Boyfriend have just returned home after being there for 2 weeks. The place is amazing. Weather is beautiful, views are out of this world. We had the best room by far!! 111T nice and big. Reception staff were sooo Friendly. Hi to Laura,Emma, Jodie and the young bloke who also does the front pool bar (19 year old)??? We were the couple with the Scots and the Cute little baby. Recommend for any1 visiting this year to go on the Cruise, make sure u visit the shipwreck. Fantastic!! 10/10. Great holiday. Will be going again next year!!

Julia T (11 July 2004)

Hi, we are about to book our holiday for 2005. Has anyone been to arkadianos apartments on half board basis? If so, what is the food like please as we have never taken the kids abroad before? do they have a choice of an english menu?

Janet H (10 July 2004)

is there an email address for the Arkaianos Apartments?

Rebecca S (08 July 2004)

5 of my family including myself are off to Arkadianos in Aug 2004.

I booked this without asking the opinion of my family and after looking at some of the pictures it does not look amazingly appealing.

I have travelled to other Greek Islands before and know that the standard of living is basic. This is part of the enjoyment of Greece.

I just want some reassurance that our apartments are clean and quiet, and that the beach is nice (it looks rather narrow and small on the pics) We are only using the apartments as a base to investigate the island, so do not need anything fancy-just nice!!

Shirley B (07 July 2004)

hi,we are going to the arkadinanos apartments on 19th sept 04 what i would like to know is? will the weather be hot or reasonably hot never been abroad before we are taking 2 teenagers and a 5 yr old son. looking forward to the holiday and we are going self-catering do any of you know of any good places to eat thanks to anyone who replies shirl

Tara G  (16 June 2004)

Hey! Me and 7 girls are off to Zante this Sunday! (20th June, 2004), Sounds pretty good from what I have read so far. Just wondering if there are going to be any men travelling at the sametime who want to entertain some students from manchester, aged 21-24???? If so, email me on the address below. I look forward to hearing from you! ta ta! xxx

Andrea D  (11 June 2004)

Just arrived back this morning. As another person said air conditioning is in but we didn't use it. Temperatures yesterday per the gauge in Kalamaki at 4pm were 39 near 100 I think in old language. Apartments were much better than I had expected ours overlooked the back pool. The kids had a grat time the pool was cold but not overcrowded by any means however some days I did have to wait for a sun lounger to become available. The staff all spoke very good english and any problems were sorted - our fridge didn't work. We ate most of the time at scirocos at it had a better selection than maestros - very nice. Be careful of the so-called short route to Lagana via the beach path as this is crumpbled away, only for the adventurous. The road takes about half an hour at a leisurely pace so fine. As for the igth flight, yes alot of waiting but I would rather be doing it at 2am in the cool than in 100degrees in the day. We paid for a room for the extra night at 50euros - around £35. Hope this helps to calm anyone elses anxieties. Very pretty island and somewhere I would definately go back to.

Vikki B  (10 June 2004)

Hi Sue, we came back from these appartments at the end of May the temperature was getting quite warm then. The Air conditioning has definitely been installed but we didn't need to use it so I am unsure of the prices. Hope this helps.

Sue S  (09 June 2004)

We are arriving at these apartments on 20th june I would also like to ask about temperatures now from anyone returning and if the air conditioning has really been installed. It is reassuring from those returning this year after some of the awful comments below, thanks Sue

Vikki B  (05 June 2004)

For all you going to Arkadianos and want to know what the accomodation is like after some of the comments on here (I desperately did!) I've added some photos, hope they help!

Vikki B  (04 June 2004)

We have just returned from staying at the Arkadianos Appartments, and after reading some of the comments were unsure of what to expect. The accomodation is very basic, and cooking facilities are very basic, probably worse infact than going camping! Overall though the cleanliness was very good, but other people in the complex said theres wasn't so I do think this depends on whether you are in the front or the back block (we were in the front). The staff are great, really friendly and very helpful, we used the pool at the front of the apartments, which is not very good for children but much quieter. The pool at the rear tends to be noisier but all in all we found the cleanliness of the pools acceptable as well. Eating out - we tried a few different restaurants whilst we were there, Maestro very nice food and average price, Panarama Restaurant, very nice food, but very pricey, Manthos - the best Full English Breakfast we tasted - excellent and Syrtaki - Excellent food - great staff and very good prices, costing us about 30 -40 euros for 3 adults and 2 children. There are loads of boat trips to go on around the island but the main two on Lithakia Beach are Spiros and Manthos, both really good quality and Laura at Spiros is just the best. Beach is fantastic, sandy beach, great for kids to play and the sea is clear, warm and shallow for quite a distance, safe for them to play in too. NOt much nightlife (soory if you booked up expecting that) but Laganas is only a short walk away with the liveliest bars and clubs. We are definitely returning and had the best holiday ever!

Wendy T (03 June 2004)

My family and I are going to stay at the Arkadianos Apartments on the 4th July 2004 and we would like to know if the Apartments have had air conditioning put into the rooms as i read in a brochure that it was hoping to have it in by May 2004, and if so how much per night.

Stephanie H  (31 May 2004)

Hi Andrea, we went to the apartments last year, and are returning again on the 4th July. The big pool at the back is more suitable for children, as it has a shallow end, the one at the front doesn't.They do run a kids club, although I dont use it as my children are teenagers, apart from that, I dont think there is actually much for young children entertainment wise. But the beach is about the safest it could be , because you have to go out a long way before the water gets deep. If you want clubs and bars, and shops, then go into Laganas, which is about 10 minutes in a taxi, or you could walk over the cliff way,(make sure you wear trainers or something similar), this takes about half hour. Hope this helps, if you want to know anything else, feel free to email me, steph.hayter@ntlworld.com. Hope you have a good time. I cant wait to go again.

Stephanie H  (31 May 2004)

Hi Louise, yes these apartments do supply towels for the shower, I cant remember how often they are changed, I think Its evey couple of days. Hope you have a great time.

Andrea D (30 May 2004)

I'm due to go off to Zante on Thursday 2nd June staying at the Arkadianos apartments.Has anyone come back recently. What are the pools like & the partments in general - other comments seem good & not so, any family entertainment nearby - kids are 9 & 12 so not babies. What about the night flights they sound awful - can you book rooms for an extra night, what is best way of doing this at these apartments

Louise H  (30 May 2004)

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if these apartments supply bath towels? It's been a while since i've been self catering and I can remember. Just checke don the Binos aparments comments board and they do supply towels.

Cheers,

Lou.

Stephanie H  (27 May 2004)

Hi, can anyone tell me what the weather is actually like at the moment, is it warming up yet?.If it is only 19 degrees, then it is not baking on the beach kind of weather!!.
Cheers.!

Ian W  (24 May 2004)

Just come back from another great two weeks at these apartments. For the currency questions lower down - we took Sterling travellers cheques as they do not charge commission for changing these but they do charge for changing Euros (!!) Also got quite a good rate at 1.44e per £. (Better than being offerd in the UK)

Allan N  (17 May 2004)

Got back on 13th May from a week at the Arkadianos, My 4 year old had agreet time and was more than welcome in the bars / resteraunts, the kids club isnt the best but they have a great time playing with each other anyway. As the beach is narrow and sea clean and shallow for a long distance it was great as was the weather. You will need to eat out all the time try the Ole' Ole' 50 meters to the right of the apartments, pools are clean lagana not far away (adventure walk 10 mins) or 6-8-euros for a taxi, we are going back next year to the 1 bed apt as that was great, prepare for a long wait at zante airport on your return and if possible get day flights. I am a travel agent so can be scepticle but this is great vlue for money.

Alan B  (12 May 2004)

just arrived back from arkadianos the first part of the hotel name spells it out, ARK. the old part of the complex is dire, we were in room 306 with a great view of the back of another building, the mountains and an overflow run which was full of rubbish, stagnant water and frogs who croaked all night. the room was very basic but clean if you are on a self catering basis, then you expect more than a one and a half ring cooker (the half is for boiling your fijani (greek coffee pot. The pool facilities were good but used incorrectly, the large pool area in the new building should be used only for kids and the front pool only for those who want to take the sun UNDISTURBED, decent pool bar nico the barman will talk about football all day. Club wild rose very old fashioned run by brits who have never done it before drinks not cheap all at 4 euro. I managed hotels in greece 30 yrs ago trust me i know what i am talking about. Check out time at 10 am if you have a night flight make sure you book a late departure 30 euro till 1900 hrs then a furthe 20 euro for the rest of the night. General area 100 meters left of the unit are more taverners selling grenglish food plus supermarkets, 100 mtrs right the same, best supermarkets to the left GORGON and to the right k mart run by and old greek couple who lived in australia many years ago.
does:practice your greek before you go a little helps, argue to get a better room, buy the local olive oil its great, take the road route to laganas. try the greek food, avoid kfc, mcdonalds and the bacon and egg joints in laganas.

don'ts: get a night flight, walk the beach route to laganas, expect an exciting dance the night away holiday.

Louise H  (11 May 2004)

Hello, I am staying at Arkadianos Apartments from 6th June. Anyone got any info for me re the kids club for my 6 year old son? If you will be there when we are drop me an email at Louiseh3@aol.com to say hello!!

Lou.

Emma V  (10 May 2004)

Hiya, we're goin to these apartments in the middle of september. as students, the things we are most concerned with are the weather (how hot?) and alcohol and food. is the drink cheap from supermarkets? r the restaurants cheap? and where should we go for the best nightlife? (

Karen R  (09 May 2004)

wendy we are going in two week as well this is our third year we usually take just euro's with us and get a safty depoist box when we get there we found they charged quite a bit to change travellers checks. hope this helps and who know's may see you there.

Stephanie H  (09 May 2004)

Hi Wendy, its best if you take sterling/euro travellers cheques, or cash, as the nearest cash point is in Laganas, which is a 7 euro taxi ride away, and it would be a pain to have to go there everytime you want some cash. You can change travellers cheques at reception, and you can pay by card at the resteraunt for meals.
Hope you enjoy yourselves, we're going back in 8 weeks time, and I can't wait.

Wendy M (07 May 2004)

we are going here in 2 weeks(with 3 small kids)and want to know what is the best currency to take. Can't wait to go and have taken all the comments(good and bad)on board.Just need a holiday.......

Joanne R  (26 April 2004)

Hi, Anna in answer to your question it should be fairly warm in may, we went May 16th and the temperature was in the 90's.You should find a few restuarants that serve veggie food as 2 of our friends that came with us were veggie's, they would recommend sirroco as he had a special veggie menu and are planning to return just to see Ben the owner of the resturant as he was so friendly. You do not have to pay to just lay on the beach. Hope you have a lovely time.

Ian W  (21 April 2004)

Anna, we went to these apartments last year in early May and had a heatwave touching 30 !! We are going again 7th May this yr but temps so far are only looking like 20 degs. Resteraunts are all very close and good value but it does add up if you use them for ALL your meals. We found quite a good shop for fruit & veg & if requested they ordered in things they found harder to get (like lettuce!!). (TO the shop... go out of the front block so you are facing the sea, turn right, follow the road round the corner and the shop is on the right - after the block with the buger&kebab shop). And yes, you can throw your towel on the sand in peace, well, you could last year. The sea is great as you can walk out for ages before it gets to deep (and I am not 10ft tall) Anyway, great choice, enjoy.

Anna L (15 April 2004)

Hi there
We've found a holiday at these apartments at the end of May, and we wondering if anyone could help out with a few queries before we book...
- any idea of the temperature towards the end of may? we were looking for lots of lovely sun to help us recuperate after exams (students....)
- we were planning on going self catering and I'm veggie, but it doesn't sound like the facilities are too great so do you think we'll manage with local restaurants for a whole week? (being students money is a bit of an issue too....)
- this may sound stupid, but the charge for using sunbeds on the beach is just for the sunbeds, right? i mean we can just lie on our towels without being prodded for money can't we?
- is it very busy at that time of year?
- umm....i'm sure there were more questions but maybe i'll remember tham and harasss you all later.
Thanks for any help!
Anna

Nina W  (07 March 2004)

I went to Agios sostis and stayed in the Arkadianos apartments last august. It was a nice place n all but i got really pissed off when i realised there was no decent night life. There was a pub next door but it usually had sum cheesy karaoke thing goin on with "disco dave" or sumthin like that. Also there were hardly any fit boys up for it, well there was a few nice waiters next door but being greek they probably had hairy backs. I was annoyed that i couldnt get propa wasted cos thats wat holidays are for, if i had been in Laganas it would of been so much funner cos there are clubs n pubs everywhere, definitly sumwhere im goin wen im 18 with my mates. Oh yeah and they charge you to lie on the beach, its like 7 euros for 2 people or sumthing- daylight robbery! So to anyone over the age of 13 and under the age of 40 dont go there! I am 15 (14 when i went) and i got really stressed out.

Dawn R  (06 March 2004)

Luise L  (19 October 2003)

Just back from a great week in Arkodianos - looking forward to going back! Yeah, the accommodation is basic but hey, the beach is seconds away. Our pool was a funny shade of green but the sea was much more fun. Loved the laidback atmosphere, which was probably due to the end of season. The staff were fantastic, our bathroom ceiling was leaking (room 107) and were moved very quickly. The staff in Maestro were fantastic too especially Vangelli. We pretty much stayed in the resort as we were looking for a quiet!!! time but if you are looking for more pubs and clubs head to Laganas which is 15 mins walk away over the rocks - but be careful and expect to get your feet wet!!! The Wild Rose was great fun - Mentor and Just George took great care of us! Overall the accommodation wasn't great, but the location and staff sure made up for it - roll on next year!!

Richard R  (14 October 2003)

Woohoo!!! I have just spent 2 of the best weeks of my life in this place. The apartments are very suitable(at the end of the day, they are only for sleeping in. you dont need a palace) the wild rose totally rocks. the sea is warm, the weather is great(apart from one tornado) with any luck i am going to move there next summer to work. it is lovely. You must go to the welcome meeting and meet Melissa. she is very sweet and very helpful.
only one word of advice. if you are going to hire bikes or cars, go to laganas. that way you dont have the guy up the road giving you hacky looks every time you pass. He doesnt like to have have a speck of dust on his property when its returned. tried to make me pay 60 euro for riding my bike on the sand. oh, and stay away from the ouzo, its deadly

Stephanie H  (08 October 2003)

Hi, this is a message for Jillian Malean. I have found a phone number for the Arkadianos apts, (26950)52578,52875. I dont know how up to date these numbers are, but I hope it helps. We also went this year, and have booked again for next year, 'cos we love it there!. Perhaps you could let me know if the numbers are still correct, as I will need to phone nearer the time. Many thanks.

Jillian M  (07 October 2003)

Does anyone please have an email address for the arkadianos or a telephone number please I was there this summer and want to book direct again for next year but require either of these to get in touch

Kev D  (01 October 2003)

RETURNED ON THE 29TH SEP AFTER TWO WEEKS AND FOUND THE APARTMENTS OK. THEY SURE WERE BASIC(NO SITTING AREA AT ALL)BUT THE MAIDS KEPT THEM VERY CLEAN.FOUND THEM A BIT NOISEY AS WE WERE CLOSE TO THE WILD ROSE PUB AND A METAL STAIRCASE.THE REPS WERE GREAT AS THEY HELPED ME GET A CAKE FOR MY LITTLE GIRLS BIRTHDAY AND EVEN LEFT A CARD AND PRESENT ON HER BED AS A SURPRISE.NICE AND CLOSE TO THE BEACH WICH WAS LUCKY AS THE SMALL POOL ON THE FRONT WAS FILTHY AND TURNED GREEN A WEEK BEFORE WE LEFT.TOWELS ON SUNBEDS AT DAWN STILL GOES ON EVEN THOUGH A SIGN SAYS IT IS NOT ALLOWED.SORRY IF IT SOUNDS ALL BAD IT WASNT WE ENJOYED THE RESORT BUT WERE DISSAPOINTED BY THE APARTMENTS.
2 WARNINGS, WATCH OUT FOR THE COCKROACHES IN WILD ROSE AND PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE AIRPORT(YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)

Pete G  (26 September 2003)

Just got back from this hotel and it was great. When you first get there it is a small shock as the rooms are a bit basic in comparison with other resorts, no real facilities for cooking (but that suited us) But they were clean and comfortable. We did not expect to have a porter to take us to our room but we did which was great. The big pool area was nice & clean and quiet as well so it was great for us & the kids. Make sure you go & meet melissa at the meeting as she will give you loads of info and tell you about the reps show which was great !!! There is also a kids club which you can pay for (about 2.50 pounds each day) which gave us a break & the kids loved dave there too bit mad though. Airport is crazy on the way home so take water and sun cream. And if your on a night flight try to arrange your room for the 8th night as its a long wait but the staff will sort out a spare room for you for 30 pounds all night good value.

Jillian M  (25 September 2003)

5 young girls going on holiday we obviously wanted to have a good time and I have 2 say never in my life have I had such a great time on holiday. I understand people saying the arkadianos is basic but come on who wants to eat in the apartment when you are on holiday anyway, besides the food in the Maestro restaurant was lovely and the staff are very courteous and pleasant. We ventured into Laganas for some great nighs out but I have 2 say I have some of the best nights of my holiday in the Wild Rose. Cheers Tori for all those free drinks and shots, and to Eris (gorgeous receptionist) for making sure we all got to bed safely every noght (or should I say morning). We loved Zante so much we are going back later this year and booking up for next.

Julie B  (23 September 2003)

Came back on the 11th of Semptember, would not class it as self catering, as no oven, toaster or kettle - Be prepared to eat out all the time. The greek staff seem to be more interested in the young female guests late at night. Overall it was ok, but if you want a bit more entertainment you best go to lagana, also for good food and prices try the odysesy.

John M  (18 September 2003)

in reply to Tina Cooke

The holiday has been switched to SUNSET. Which is still part of the Thomas Cook group
Im looking forward to going back in 2004 as we had such a great time here.
Fiar does the accomadaiontion is very basic but as its self catering mostly everyone eats out antway so why be bothered if you have a 2 ring cooker.
Also are Dave and Mel still there as they are some of the nicest reps there.
Lastly if you are like us who stayed up when the Wild Rose closed
use the bar in reception as its open 24 hours

Lisa W  (14 September 2003)

THE APARTMENTS WERE GREAT, ALTHOUGH THE VEIW WAS DISSAPOINTING. ARIES IS A GREAT GUY AND MADE SURE THE 5 OF US GOT HOME OK! THE WILD ROSE IS A GOOD LAUGH, THE BARMEN TORY AND MOSE ARE STUNNING AND VERY FRIENDLY GUYS. WE ARE GOING TO STAY IN LAGANAS AT XMAS THEN BOOK UP FOR ARKADIANOS FOR NEXT SUMMER. THE BEACH IS NARROW BUT CAN'T REALLY COMPLAIN. WE WENT IN AUGUST AND THE WEATHER WAS BRILL. I STAYED IN ROOM 208 AND MY FRIENDS STAYED IN ROOM 207 WHICH HAS A BRICK WALL FOR A VEIW! THE MAESTRO WAS GREAT AND REASONABLY PRICED WITH FRIENDLY WAITERS WHO TRIED THEIR BEST TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR APPETITE. OVERALL WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND CANT WAIT TO GO BACK, FROM LISA, JILLIAN, GILLIAN, JOANNE AND CHARLEEN.

Lainey E  (12 September 2003)

Waterpark is very good for the younger kids say up to 14. It is still very new (grass still growing) but really pleasant. It is still small enough to keep an eye on your children and they can go on all the rides (except one shoot was closed). Not too large that you can get lost. We went with the JMC rep and price was fair. Cant remember how much but quite close to the admission price if you were to travel via own means. I think (dont quote me on this) they made approx five euros per head which basically covers the cost of coach. Have fun. I am sure you will enjoy water park. One point to remember. They will not let anyone wearing jwellery down the shoots. So leave all earrings, rings, ankle chains etc locked away at your hotel.

Stephanie H  (08 September 2003)

In reply to Tina Cookes comments, yes the Arkadianos Apartments ARE
featured in next years JMC brochure, on page 242. I know, because we have booked to go again next year, and cant wait.!!!

Tina C  (07 September 2003)

Ok, I was there from 1st August onwards for 2 weeks. I have read everyones comments & can truthfully say that you are all right. (Good & Bad). If you pay the full brochure price, (with supplements, nearly 3 grand for 2 weeks for 4 of us... check it out, I am telling the truth!) which we did, it is not worth it. Don't end up in room 207 which has the view of a brick wall next to the balcony & is like being in a tomb. (There are many rooms like this & if you only pay a small amount for the holiday, it is OK, I suppose). However, if you ask to be moved, they will always move you within a few days so at least your "basic accomodation" becomes acceptable, the staff are wonderful. The resort is amazing, the staff at the apartments are fantastic, but don't expect a lot for your money. I would not in any way put anyone off the apartments because they are on the beach & have a lot going for them. However, I have also noticed that they are no longer featured in the JMC brocure for next year. WHY? .
To anyone, it is a great place if you don't expect much & you realise that you will be charged high prices for drinks because they can get away with it. That being said, I would go to the resort again, definately stay at other apartments & under no circumstances drink in the Wild Rose that water down their overpriced drinks..
Have a good holiday if you go there, it may not sound like it, but we did have a good time. Just be alert..
Regards

Kev D (07 September 2003)

GOING WITH KIDS ON 15 SEPTEMBER AND HEARD THERE IS A NEW WATERPARK CAN ANYBODY TELL ME IS IT LOCAL TO THE APARTMENTS AND HOW MUCH IT IS (IS IT WORTH THE MONEY).....THANKS

Paul W  (26 August 2003)

hi there all,

we did like it. infact, is was one of the best holidays we have been on.

what i mentioned about the "getting chucked out early" on the morning for a flight the next day is a fact. if you are flying home at 5am and you are told to get out of your room by 10am the previous morning that is a fact whether it is in the brochure or not. to charge people loads extra to stay for the extra day is a rip off, fact. it is also a fact that there is no guarantee that you can even get a room if you want to pay the excessive (not excess!) charge. people who stayed the second week when we came home, hired a room for one night at the lithakia beach hotel (sirrocco bar) for 25 euros which is more reasonable.

the place is great for a holiday providing you know what the score is. no kettle, table etc and the spa**eness of the rooms may shock some and even upset them., as would the hefty extra to keep your room on for a few hours.

knowledge is power, just giving people my opinions on the facts.

regards

paul w

Lainey E  (26 August 2003)

Returned last week. Excellent Family Location but not for teenagers. Apartment very basic but clean. Kitchen facilities poor but not bothered cos we ate out every night. Excellent swimming pools and lovely sandy beach. Everything you need under one roof. Maestros taverna service and food below average - they tend to have most of the customers from the Arkadianos Beach Resort (as it is officially known as) and know it. This is due to the fact that it is next door and you get a 10% discount card from your rep. Also had the worst curry ever here. But then again what do you expect if you ask for curry in Greece!!!! When in Rome blagh blagh.......... If you venture to the other tavernas they are very very pleased to have your custom and do tend to be more grateful for it. Syrataki Taverna and Ole Ole Taverna are excellent and could not fault them. All in All an excellent holiday and would return again. Word of warning - went to one Taverna and fish was on the menu. I picked out a very small fish - say mackeral size - which was served on a bed of lettuce and nothing else, not even a chip! When the bill arrived it cost 18 euros. I queried the bill and was told fish is sold by weight - so beware!!! Its seems as though I am picking out all the bad stuff but I just want to warn other holidaymakers. It is an excellent resort, excellent hotel and there are beautiful tavernas all around you. We went to the Water Park that opened early August. Brilliant day out for all the family. Well worth the money. Shipwreck beach is brilliant but you do spend quite a long time on the boat to get there.

Amanda H  (25 August 2003)

Alison Gardner - Debbie and Dimitri have now left

Paul W - almost all holiday companies make you leave your room in the morning on a night flight - read your brochure booking conditions ??

Kevin Davies - food is quite cheap, weather should still be nice and you will need a 2 pin adaptor

Marilyn C  (22 August 2003)

returned yesterday after a wonderful two weeks, the only complaint was it didnt last long enough. Would like to thank reps Dave and Melissa for all there hard work and brilliant company and i hope Mel is feeling better and it wasnt my birthday cake that made her ill. Would advise anybody to go to here although the accomodation is very basic there is enough around you to compensate this, hire a fan from the local supermarket to make sleeping easier it stays hot all night and if you like your cuppa in the morning take a travel kettle as there's not one in the apartments. Eating out is not as expensive as i was lead to believe and i actually came home with money to spare(and thats a first) i recomend maestros for the greek night although it can get very busy so my advise would be to book, i had my 50th birthday there and they looked after us and made it a night to remember. Avoid the Paradise Restaurant, service was very slow food was cold when it arrived and they charge more than the other places. For anyone thats going in the next few weeks i hope you have as good a holiday as we did. MESSAGE FOR DISCO DAVE: thanks for everything sorry we didnt have time to fill in your book, will send our comments to the hotel for you to stick in your book, Shanty Ben and Luke send their love. All the best for the future. x

Nina W (20 August 2003)

just wondering if anyone knew the name of the waiter in Maestros, he was quite young(prob the youngest one there), greek, tanned and had quite dark spiky hair? i know this is a stupid question but i really need to know! Thanks

Amanda H  (20 August 2003)

In reply to Mrs Purdons Comments.

Mrs purdon are you mad1?

we only had 2 problems on our holiday. one was the groups of young kids left on there own all night (was that your kids) & the otherwas going home. The place was great perfect for a relaxing holiday.

Hope you dont get a refund and go to scotland next year im sure they have toasters there !!!!!

Any one going there, ignore the bad comments, we really enjoyed it.

Enjoy your holiday there. Cant wait till we go back next year.

Amanda B  (19 August 2003)

The apartments are basically cleaned at intervals! The lady on reception - Debbie, the essex girl - is a complete STAR (and has to be - married to Dimitri, the old grumpy Greek Manager).

The reps were helpful and Kidsworld girls are FANTASTIC. Don't be fooled into 10% discount at Maestro and be prepared for a LONG wait for your food - one of the waiters is a bit creepy too - so watch out if you have young girls in your party!

Dimitri (as previously described) is enough to ruin anyones holiday, so deal with Debbie.

We tried trips from the street and from the Rep - and it has to be said that we think the reps trips were worth that little bit extra.

Taylor P  (19 August 2003)

This is the worst holiday we have ever had. They put us in room 320 which is right above the Wild Rose pub. The music went on till 3 or 4 am regularly and kept everyone awake. This is ok if you are on an 18-30 holday but not if you are a family of four with two kids. We paid an extra occupancy fee but didn't get anything extra. We had one double and two single beds. This for an apartment that was mwant to sleep 5. There wasn't even a chailr to sit on never mind a bed settee. You cannot cater for four people with one electric ring, no kettle no grill, no toaster. Beware of the barmen plying very young girls with alcohol when their parents aren't around. Am now negotiating my money back.

Nina W  (12 August 2003)

yo julie, aye there is a fridge in the apartments although it is quite small but decent enough.hav a good time.

Julie H  (11 August 2003)

Looking forward to coming to Zante on the 14th August, and we are staying at these apartments. Just one query though, I am assuming that there will be fridges in the apartments or am I wrong? Hope not!!!! can't be without my chilled wine.

Nina W  (11 August 2003)

Just got back this morning from these apartments and i had a pretty good time but as im only 14 there wasn't much for me to do as Agios Sostis is quite a small quiet place. The apartments are clean but basic and only gets cleaned properly a few times a week. There are a few nice restuarants nearby aswell one called Maestros which has a very sexy young waiter with a nice bum, infact i had to contain myself from pinching it! Also go to a restuarant called Panorama as again there is a sexy young waiter there too. Or you could try Syrataki as it has good food, sexy waiters who even dance for you!Laganas aint far away either if you are lookin for a bit of nightlife as it provides brilliant pubs and clubs and a good atmosphere. The beach on Agios Sostis is nice but if you want to lie on a sunbed it will cost you about 8 euros which i was a bit pissed off about but hey i got a tan and thats all i care about. The resort is mostly full of families so it can be quite noisy especially if you have a room by the pool. There is a cheesy karaoke held in the Wild Rose about 3 times a week which is actually quite a laugh but very cheesy! The airport is a nightmare as it's so tiny and there is only one luggage carasoul for all the flights and you have to que up outside after you have checked in which i can imagine would be a right pain in the ass if your flight was in the day. Overall i thought it was a good week but have to say i'm glad to get back to my own bed.

John M  (03 August 2003)

We arrived back on August 01 2003 and we do not go back to teh same resort ever. But that has changed, we will be going back in 2 years time as the place is so good. The staff were very friendly and the clean rooms are a real bonus. The JMC reps are very friendly however one has a very strange haircut (DD & Mel). Its not a very busy resort which is ideal for families plus if you want more noise your only 1 mile from the busiest resort on the island. The only thing that was wrong was a small problem was the nightly entertainment. The greek Night is good as is the karaoke. But thats the only entertainment there. Could do with a tad more difference. But apart from that the holiday was excellent

Alison G  (03 August 2003)

hiya does any 1 no if demitri debbie and christina are still dere thanx xxxx

Dawn D  (02 August 2003)

if booking tours dont go through your rep try laganus we went on boat cruise around island for 11 euros each rep price quoted 35 !!! it you go on shopping trip to Zante town (3 euros) pick up 7.00p.m. back 11.00 p.m. but most shops close at 10.00. Found shipwreck disappointing beach is pebbles and shale so wear decent flip flops no shade either. Also watch teenagers as shots of drink are given quite freely at bars and restaurants.

Dawn D  (02 August 2003)

arived back yesterday good two weeks three children loved location more restaurants than bars but found ok coral fantastic atmosphere and owners great company. Apartments very basic should be classed as room only, no kettle or toaster or table and chairs to eat meal and rooms very hot dont hire fan from reception go to supermarket as half price of reception. hire your own boat to turtle island we had great 4 hours exploring coastline. try and have shower before 6 as no hot water. good holiday but wouldnt return

Stephanie H  (29 July 2003)

How great is this place?. We are booked to return next year. Cant wait!See you all again, same time same place.!!!!!!!

Stephanie H  (23 July 2003)

Just returned on sunday, after a relaxing and peaceful holiday. Our family consisted of my husband, three daughters 16, 14 and 7. We were in room 221 at the front, second floor. The view more than made up for the lack of balcony space and kitchen facilities!! it was excellent. We had to use a saucepan for boiling water for coffee so if you want to make drinks and would prefer to use a kettle, bring your own! however, the close proximety of the supermarket and maestros restaurant means that you do not need kitchen facilities. Our apartment was a two bedroomed and was plenty large enough just for sleeping and showering. Aghios sostis itself is a very pretty and quaint typical greek village. All of the shop keepers, waiters, locals were very friendly towards us. The only trip we went on was a cruise around the island with spring tours which is just up the road. I think the trip was excellent value for money as we saw all of the sights, ie smugglers cove, the blue caves, the keri caves etc, and even caught sight of a turtle at the end of the day! We had three swimming stops and you could buy meals and drinks on board, all of this for 15 euros. If you want clubs, shops loud music etc you will have to go to Laganas, either by taxi which will cost 7 euros or walk along the cliffs ( best done wearing trainers ) not bare feet or flipflops, like we did! Every saturday maestros is a good place to be because they have their greek night, book a table a couple of days before as it gets very busy, but dont bother to get there at 7:30 as it doesn't start until 9:00, and dont expect to be served as "fast" as normal!!! The swimming pool at the back of the complex was more suitable for small children because it had a shallow end. Finally the airport!! Make sure you have plenty of water and sun cream on the return journey ( and loads and loads of patience!!!!!!!) We cant wait to go back next year.

James S  (12 July 2003)

Have had a fantastic holiday. Thanks to all staff at the hotel and also to melissa and "disco" Dave. Great hotel in a fantastic location. Childrens club was great as it left us with free time to enjoy ourselves. See you all next year.

Jean L  (07 July 2003)

These apartment are clean but basic, typically Greek! We had a great time and the weather was fantastic. Sound does carry between the apartments especialy between floors. Kids club was a bit of a let down but improved as the holiday went on.
It it hard to self-cater;partly because there is really only one usable ring but also because the food in the supermarkets in Agios Sostis is very expensive, in some instances double UK prices for basics like fruit juice. If you have a hire car it is well worth going to one of the discount supermarkets on the road to Zante town.
Eating out is about the same as the UK. We would recommend Ole Ole and Sirroco resturants.
All in all it was a great holiday and I didn't want to come home!

Jan S  (05 July 2003)

Got back from 2 weeks in blistering heat (40 degrees +), due to get hotter. Stayed in 2 bed apartment for 5, beware these are not 2 bedroomed but 2 roomed. First room has cooking area, wardrobe & double bed, 2nd room has 2 singles and sofa bed, no wardrobe. Apparently all rooms are similar set up. Saying that ok for me, husband and 2 kids. Cleaners in every day for bins and linen/towels chaged every 3 days. Staff friendly and helpful. Fan is a must 3euro pday. Do not expect to be able to "self cater" as 2 elec rings, fridge and sink, basic cutelry and crockery, ok for beans etc. If on night flight home have to be out of room by 10am, or pay extra either 30euro to 7pm or 50 euro till depart! Then no guarentee of room availablity. Pool excellent and cleaned daily. No real playground as advertised in JMC. Reps good. Would recommend as long as you know set up.

Paul W  (30 June 2003)

Hi there,

You can hire a fan from the wee shop called FASHION OUTLET on the corner near the panorama restaurant for 1.5 euros with a 20 euro deposit. It is essential that you get one or you will sweat to death!!!!!!!!

I thought these apartments were decent enough although very noisy, not with adults but with kids running around. The building seems to amplify it if you are trying to sleep. I also think it is a disgrace to chuck you out at 10am and you do not get collected perhaps till 330am the next day!!! and to charge 30 euros till 7pm and 50 for the whole day is just a rip off.

Stephanie T  (27 June 2003)

Came back on the 9th of june had the best holiday ever went with my mum,dad and best mate met some great people at the hotel and in laganas.not much to do near these apartments but its only a 25 minute walk to laganas or 7 euro in a taxi.everybody everywhere is so friendly cant wait to go back.every one who is going soon hope you all have a great time if any one wants any information about it feel free to email me at steph4cojay@planet-save.com .

Andy C  (20 June 2003)

fans can be hired for 3 euros per night, prob worth either taking one with you or buying there, imagine it will be between 35 and 40 easily

Tina C (19 June 2003)

We're going on 31st July & I imagine it will be hot. Does anyone know if we can hire fans & if so what is the cost please?

Kevin D (17 June 2003)

GOING IN SEPTEMBER WITH KIDS CAN ANYBODY HOW WARM IT NORMALY IS AND HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS TO EAT OUT..THANKS ARE THE PLUGS 3 PIN LIKE UK

Andy C  (15 June 2003)

sorry my email address is andrew@paramount-cs.freeserve.co.uk

Andy C  (15 June 2003)

Well what another fantastic time. This is a place for most people wanting ti relax and have a great time. The day time isnt teenager friendly as there isnt that much for them to do. May i suggest they take some other form of entertainment. We got back on 12th June after two weeks. Second time round for us and plan to go back later on this year. As most people have said the accomodation is very basic but thats greece for you. Things to take with you are some sort of mossy repellant, travel kettle (not essential), and any other creature comfort you think you cant do without for the time your there. We were in the back of the complex in 101 and found the tereze pool bar, run by nicos, friendly and well priced. Remember when you order food nearly everything comes with chips, chips and more chips. Mentor and Sandra in the Wild Rose are great as well, along with Debbie (English manageress). Dave is the kids rep and meliisa are very hardworking and will help you if you ask. Only problem I had was coming back as an alocoholic. Enjoy!! You can contact the apartments on 0030 26950 52875. Any body want more info feel free to email.

Karen R  (08 June 2003)

went to these apartment last year in may. Going again 29th june for 2 weeks can anyone tell me how hot it will be roughley when we are there. Thanks

Julie A (01 June 2003)

Please,if anyone can help,I am trying to get the phone number for the Arkadianos Apartments.

Val W  (01 June 2003)

arrived on the 15th may, accomadation clean but basic. If you wanted to cook, you would find this difficult, as there was only two electric rings, one very small. In the evenings it was hit or miss as to whether you would get water from the shower, try not to shower between 5 and 7.There wasn't much space to put your clothes, we ended up living out of our suitcase.Complex on the whole, was clean and well kept and a good location, right near the beach.

Claire J  (27 May 2003)

Hiya, We went on 4th May 2003. We just got back on 19th May.We stayed in room 209,2nd floor over looking larger pool.Very nice although the sun wasn't on it that much. We had a fantastic time. The apartments were very spacious but could do with a few more places to hang clothes.Take some coat hangers!!The pools were lovely and kiddie friendly although one kiddie decided to use it as the loo!!Poor Dave the rep had a fun time chasing it out!Nice.Anyhow the Wild Rose bar was good and Karaoke night being Sunday night was a good laugh.Mentor (wild rose barman)was really nice and his nephew Errie(whom I happened to fall in love with)was exteptionally nice, I have decided to go back in August!!It started to get busy in our second week although I would not say it was raving! The best place for night life is Laganas itself, 7 euros in a cab. I want to say Hi Kath! I remember your birthday, you had a mic in your mouth all night!! I was up singing too,you might remember!
There is a tatto studio on the site Isabel runs it and she is very good!Everyone came back with a tattoo somewhere! It was a holiday to remember and I certainly will give it the thumbs up for friendliness.
Demitris and Debbie the Manager and his English wife are very helpful and Vangelis,Paris and Ionis in Maestro restaurant will look after your appetite! They are really good fun, don't miss their Greek night on Saturday nights the kids will love it.
I fell in love with Errie and Zante!! I don't think I will ever go anywhere else now. You won't find blue sea like it!
Enjoy your holiday!! I will when I go again!!

Vanessa M  (25 May 2003)

Hi there we would just like to tell you briefly about these apartments.
They are very clean the staff are very friendly and the owners are great.
We have just come back 16th may 2003, the weather was just over a 100 all the time, the maestros resturant does excellent brekkie from 4 euros. We also had a few night meals they were great too, If you walk from the right of the complex walk for 2 mins you will come to a resturant called Syrtakis resturant the meals are absolutly georgous and for a fam of 3 meal incl starters it cost around 40 euro.
We were in appartment 301 2 lots of stairs the only problem with it was no kettle only pans and the toilet did'ny flush very well.
Also make sure you shower before 5pm as there is little hot or cold water left. but the view from the room was fantastic.
The complex is very quiet but its only 7 euros to go to town which takes 5 mins or 1/2hour over the rocks be careful very slippy sometimes and you get wet too.
The drinks are not expemsive in the wild rose pub, but they are a lot cheaper in town.
The sunbeds and parasol on the beach cost u 8 euro for 2.
The bus ride from the airport takes about 35mins depending on how many drop offs there is, we were the last drop off.

Steve M (25 May 2003)

Please please anyone, does the Arkadianos have an
e-mail address?

We have just got back after having a brilliant holiday. There was 10 in our party and we all enjoyed it.The apartment themselves were very basic but they were very clean on arrival. The walls are very thin and you could here your neighbours every move, taking a hot shower was like playing russian roulette somtimes there was plenty of hot water sometimes just a trickle and the first morning we had no water at all.The apartments were in a perfect location right on the beach which was lovely, it was much nicer than Laganas beach.Everyone in the resort was very friendly and we got plenty of free drinks at the wild rose club though there prices were as expensive as the Uk.We would definetly go back to this resort again but not to these apartments there are much better ones in the area.

Just recovering from the 8 hour delay at Zante Airport to get back home! Yep , the airport has to be seen to be believed - 1 baggage carrousel for 700 passengers is an experience. Anyway, had very hot weather for May and got very burnt. Stayed in the front building and had a sea-view apartment - the view was beautiful. The downside of the front apartments is that the on-site disco/bar 'Wild Roses'is situated here and can be quite noisy until 2am. Nic 'the Greek' (his words!) the barman in the poolside bar is a good laugh but don't make fun of his favourite football team! Debbie - the owner/manager - is absolutely lovely , friendly and British so knows exactly what 'us lot' are like. The iguanas , parrot and snake are funny as well - you'll see them around the complex. Dont get me wrong , this place is'nt the Hilton - it's basic but clean. The on-site shop will have everything you need but don't expect to cook a Sunday roast on the 2 rings in your 'kitchen'. Aghios Sostis is nice and quiet but if you want the nightlife then Laganas is only 30 minutes walk away. Personnally I thought Laganas was horrible - the 'beach' is compacted mud as it is used as a road! The beach in front of the hotel is narrow but at least its proper sand. Take Sterling travellers cheques as the hotel will charge 2% for Euro cheques. If your taking your kids you'll be in good company 'cos there was loads of the little buggers!Pack your Puriton tablets and nasal spray fellow hayfever sufferers as its quite green out there. Don't go on the Athens trip.Spend 20 Euros on a taxi when you arrive at the airport as your only 15-20mins away as the coach will take you around the island (about 1 and a half hours) and you will be dropped off last. Reccomend the stuffed squid at the Satarkyi restaurant about 20 yards up the road and the Grasshopper coctail at the OK Corral bar. Well , happy holidaying everyone!

Me and my other half will be going to these apartments in the first 2 weeks of May 2003 so I will let everyone know exactly what it's like. I can't really complain because we payed £161 each with JMC and TV Travelshop! Don't know how I'm going to get use to the toilet paper bin!!!

Justin F  (19 January 2003)

Me and my wife went there back in 1998, and we have an absolutely wonderful time. We went slightly out of season as we wanted a relatively quiet, laid back holiday - so we went the first week in May, and it turned out great.

Our apartment was a ground floor one in the complex, just a few paces away from the on-site supermarket & restaurant. This turned out to be extremely handy and comfortable, as when we finished off a bottle of wine on our ground floor veranda, I literally walked about 20 paces across to the supermarket , to get another bottle of plonk.

Maestros served up some excellent Greek food - and since it was out of season, we practically had the place to ourselves.

Laganas itself was around 20 to 30 minutes walk away through some pleasant rural countryside.

The apartments themselves were very clean, and our bathroom was cleaned every day, with fresh towels being left. I'm shocked at some of the negative comments about Arkadianos, as it a really wonderful place.

The small garden areas were blooming with flowers and plants , and the architecture of Arkadianos was very appealing - nothing like some of the other mass market breeze-block apartment blocks that you see in Laganas itself.

Location is perfect - near enough to the bustle of Laganas, but far away enough if you want a bit of peace and relaxation.

We didnt do any of the excursions on offer - we just rented some bicycles and headed off to St. Nicholas Bay and did some scuba diving through the diving school there, which is run by some English folks. Cycling back, we stopped off at Aylkes , had a few beers in an Irish bar before heading back.

Its been quite a few years now since we've been, and we are seriously considering going back again.

Nicola G (12 October 2002)

This one's for Peter. We have booked for next May through TVTravelshop,it's a JMC holiday. My sister in law said too she'd been told JMC nolonger existed(it does). Paid £474 for 2 weeks S/C 8.5.03-22.5.03. 2 Adults,1 child and an infant, flying from Bristol. That;s on a JMC extra holiday with kids clubs, late check in and meals on the plane. As they only have limited hols at this price I don't expect they have any left! Try though! At that price I'm sure we'll be pleased! Any info on kids clubs and the beach and playground would be helpful, aswell as anywhere that does a good steak(for the hubby)

Ceri C  (30 September 2002)

Hello "Daddy D", Debbie and Christina. Cash and Carry, Andi Pandi, Christmas Carol and Piloc!!!(Hee hee poor Carinna) all want to say thanks for making our visit to Zakynthos the best holiday we've ever had. We'll always have found memories of pulling up outside of Arkadianos, like total babes, in Demitri's Jag and Beach Bum. See you next year Guys. :-)

i need pictures of arkadios apartments

Peter B  (17 September 2002)

Returned from a week here with my wife on 15th September and we had a great time ... surprised by comments below. Our apartment was reasonably clean, bins were changed every day, clean towels provided twice during our stay. We were in the block by the back pool which was very quiet ... I imagine it could be noisier at the front of the complex at night time. Kitchen was basic but no worse than expected - fine for all our needs. Only thing which might have been nice would be a net curtain for more privacy / keep mosquitos out. Tried several restaurants, food was fine in most of them. Although you get 10% off at Maestro their prices are slightly higher anyway. Ate several times at Paradise ... someone complained earlier about the cover charge but most of the restaurants have one. For a couple its not so much of a problem and each night they offered us a choice of free liquer or coffee at the end, plus they gave us a ticket for a free bottle of wine on our next visit. Would recommend another restaurant whose name I can't quite remember but you head for Paradise and turn left up a narrow track ... quiet place but a number of the locals were eating there which I think is a good sign. Didn't think much of the JMC reps or the excursions that were offered ... if you fancy a break from your sunbed I'd recommend turtle spotting trip on the glass bottomed boat (rather than with 'Spiros' whose boat never showed up for two days in a row). All in all it was our sort of resort and we would definitely consider going back. However I picked up a copy of the 2003 Thomas Cook brochure (apparently they have reverted back from 'JMC') and couldn't see the resort listed. Interested if anyone knows why.

Monette C  (16 September 2002)

Although the appartments were based in a nice part of the Island, overlooking the beach our stay there was less than brilliant - the Arkadianos apartments are terrible! The Greek owner was thoroughly unpleasant and rude and seemed to do all he could to make us feel uncomfortable there, although his English wife was nice. The cleaners were very lazy - we had to request our bathroom to be cleaned twice before they bothered to turn up and even then didn't do a very good job at it and we had to ask for new towels, which we eventually got but when they arrived they were more dirty than the ones we'd been using for days. I know Greece is more laid back than England but I've been to other places in Greece and have never known anything like this before! The kitchen equipment provided also seems to vary a lot from room to room. Their idea of acceptable living arrangements in some of the rooms in the main front building at the back is a complete joke!! The room was disgusting and had a very strong smell of sick when we arrived. As well as this, the sheets on the bed were dirty, the bathroom and kitchen had not been cleaned and the room was right next to communal toilets - pleasant! When we told the owner he just laughed it off and refused to let us have another room, even though there were some free. Also the sound-proofing between rooms is non-existent, so don't expect to get much sleep! The only good thing about these apartments are the iguanas - which are kept behind a mirrored wall in-between the two buildings - they are really sweet and a lot more attractive than the owner! The rep was completely useless and unsympathetic to our complaints, as well as having very little local knowledge -to the extent that she didn't warn us to wear sensible shoes on one of our trips, which resulted in two very badly cut feet! She also didn't seem to think it a good idea to tell anyone about the gastroenteritis that was spreading throughout the apartments while we were there - and from which all 5 of us suffered. Sorry to moan so much but we paid a reasonable amount for this holiday and the brochure lead us to believe that it would be a lot better than it actually was -either this place is hugely over-rated or we just went at a very bad time, either way none of us would like to stay there again.

Keri W (10 September 2002)

Off to Zante very soon, this Thursday to be precise! Staying at these appartments, read some great comments, which is good! Silly question but..... can you tell me if they supply bath towels!? Gonna take some anyway but just wondered, also anyone recommend a good boat trip to take. Any other info you can think of would be great!

Chris C  (17 August 2002)

We returned on the 15 August after a brilliant holiday. These apartments are typical for Greece, basic but functional. The message before this says it all. We had no problem with Maestros staff except that one waiter tried to get my just 16 year old daughter to go out with him, she was quite disgusted as he was older than me and we stopped going there at her request. The beach was only accross an non busy road and although only a thin beach it was quite nice. The whole bay is very slowly sloping and you can get quite a way out before you reach your depth. The cleaners needed a good kick up the bum as they seemed to spend more time arguing than they did working. But overall a good place. Some things that have not been previously mentioned are that there is a small internet cafe just inside reception, Two large TVs conected to PS2's that you can hire by the hour and a large screen TV that shows the sunday Eastenders (for the soap addicts). The owner never spoke to us but his wife is very friendly and helpful. The Rep is very good and helpful and a credit to JMC. I would definatly consider going back there.

Sam B  (01 August 2002)

We just got back from Zante this afternoon, these apartments are really very clean for greece, they are very well placed being really close to the beach and with a few shops, bars and tavernas close by it is friendly and not too loud. In the accomodation Dimitri and his English wife are extremely friendly, I found the third floor accomodation plenty big enough for us all (we had enough room for 6) although being disabled it was a bit of a trek to the third floor! The bathroom facilities left little to be desired, how on earth you are supposed to shower in a two foot square with barely no hot water and no shower curtain is unbelievable and maid never cleaned our bathroom in the two weeks - only emptied the toilet bin!! The cooking facilities are non existant - two rings and a fridge, no implements no corkscrew or bottle opener, (Not that that bothered us we intended to eat out any way - we ARE on holiday!) Beach towels appeared on the sunbeds at anytime between 12.30 and 7.00 in the morning so if you wanted one you HAD to get up - and it was really frustrating! The daytime pool bar Tereza was cheap and maria is friendly. The kids club for the JMC kids was excellent run by Sticky Vicky and Looney Lindsay - (It is the first time our little girl has actaully wanted to go the club - so thanks girls!) The JMC rep Kaz was always around dealing with lost souls and had introduced an excellent idea of a recycle box, If you found yourself short of something eg: suncream, tea, coffee and buckets and spades etc look in there use them and before you depart you leave anything you do not want to cart back in the box, we left loads, football, lilos, bisciuts - well done Kaz. However we had a really nasty shock pne night when quering the bill after one of our meals in the maestro (attached restaraunt) we were told to F*** Off back to England!! NOT GOOD we never ate there again, avoid the paradise taverna round the back they charge 1.50 each to sit down! This applied to children only having a 1.50 meal and was appalling, Try the Manthos taverna up the road we ate there nearly every night, they are friendly and also run trips turtle spotting and to the island it is the best thing I done in a long time. The spiritaki restaraunt is good too. We had blazing hot weather the first week 125degrees and then thunder and lightening the second week and an earthquake measuring 5.2!! Not very nice on the third floor! At the time little things did annoy us (not being able to get a sunbed, having no loo roll, listening to German and Danish people below us chat all night, being charged 3 Euro for a fan, not really being able to get on the beach, it is fully fitted with sunbeds side by side and they charge 8 Euro for two - there is no room in between for you to simply put a towel down) but all in all we did have a nice time and would go back! A word of warning the airport is a real joke, but we had been warned about it - but you know us British we laugh - but it aint funny, firstly standing for hours in the sun outside to get in the building to check in and then standing in departure lounge for 2-3 hours for your plane! I am not moaning just leaving an honest opinion - email me if you want any further info.

Kim   (30 July 2002)

i got back from he arkadianos apartments a couple of days ago and it was brilliant and i will go again when i can. i recommend the syrataki(a restaurant around the corner) for a good meal. also try the maestro restaurant on greek night (wednesday). if you want a day out rent a motor boat and visit turtle island its really fun. try and getan apartment at the front with a good view of the sea (room 222). the onsite pub is really crazy the "wild" rose. ou'll need a fan in your rom they cost 3 euro a night. look out for the litte waiter at maestros (chinese lookin greek guy). if you want clubs you'll have to go into laganas (20min walk along beach) i recommend cocktails and dreams, th rescue bar andte pink panther cocktail bar (karaoke).

Sarah M  (22 July 2002)

jus flew back this morning from zante!stayed in the arkadianos and i think they are the nicest on the island!basic but clean and roomy was perfect for us (5 eighteen year ol girls) had a brilliant stay there reps very helpful and only a 20 min walk along the beach to go clubbing in laganas!sea was beautiful....kids tend to stay by the pool so the beach is a good place to laze during the day..mastreo tavarna next door was excellent try the mastreo fantastico ice cream!!lushious!beware of the short waiter he was little freaky in his attempts to seduce us!!!

Yvonne G  (18 July 2002)

My boyfriend and I went for 2 weeks and came back on the 7th July. It was extremely hot and after the experience at the airport i probably wouldn't go back.Fans in the room are around 3 Euros per day.Our apartment faced the sea so the view was very good. The maids were supposed to empty the grotty toilet bin everyday but sometimes didn't, which in those temperatures is disgusting. But apart from that the apartment was quite big and generally clean. The owners wife is a really nice English lady who couldn't do enough for us. One word of warning be very careful with the beds they aren't the most well built things and have a tendancy to fall to pieces.Despite this they fixed them for us straight away. I'm glad we stayed in agios sostis rather than laganos as it was alot cleaner and nicer. It was extremely hot and the beach is really nice.Sunbeds on the beach are around 3.5 euros each. You can use visa in hotel supermarket and in Maestro's (the really nice Greek restaurant at the side). The service in Maestro's can be a bit slow so if your going on a night out and need to eat first go very early. The JMC Rep was really nice and chatty and looked after us.It's worth taking a walk out to the Island that you can see from the hotel to your left-the view up there is fantastic. If you go on any of the nights out and there is free wine - it's advisable not to drink it, it's disgusting and leaves you feeling really sick-unless you like that type of thing!!And one last thing for those people that smoke-make sure you buy cigs from a shop before it closes as there are no cig machines ANYWHERE.

Mel W  (10 July 2002)

I have just come back from staying at the Arkadianos apartments with my boyfriend. It is in a quiet area, but very relaxing. The apartments are lovely and clean and the staff are very helpful. In reply to Michelle Tierny, it is 6 euros to get to Laganas from the apartment and 6 back. There are lots of kids there, but they tend to stick to the pool area, so I highly recommend going to the lovely beach about 2 mins walk if that from the apartements

Michelle T (08 July 2002)

I am going to the Arkadianos Apartments on 18th July 2002 with two other girls. Want to know if there are any young people at this resort because judging by the comments this is a family orientated resort. Also how much is a taxi to Langnas as we don't want to get ripped off.

Elisabetta A (25 June 2002)

How can I cantact the Arkadianos Apartments's owner for a resevation? Please help me!!! sorry for my English!

Joanne T  (16 June 2002)

spent the first week in may 2002 here. excellent for families beach just 10m away, very clean and safe. 2 pools also very clean shop on site but no kettles or fans not even for hire. tavernas in area excellent staff very friendly and helpful english lady co-owner always on hand and knows what standards the brits expect.have already booked to go back again next year but for 2 weeks. if you would like anymore info you can e mail me

Annette H  (11 June 2002)

We got back from Zakynthos on Sunday 9th June. As others have said it can be noisy, we had a ground floor room at the front (103) because my husband is on crutches with a broken leg, and it was pretty noisy at night with people going passed. There are signs everywhere asking for quiet after 11pm but people can be inconsiderate. We liked these apartments, yes they are basic but that is Greece for you. Staff were friendly. By the big pool is a bar that sells good luches at reasonable prices, Maria is a lovely girl very friendly. We have two children aged 12 and 9, they used the Kids Club a few times they liked Sticky Vicky and Looney Lindsey who ran the Club. The rep Kaz, we found quite helpful, she visits the appartments very regularly so it is quite easy to see her. Agios Sostis it's self we loved, it is a good family resort, just Tavernas, a few shops and one night club opened while we were there, although it was not doing very well because it is mainly families there. The airport is a nightmare, going home we were having to que outside in the midday sun, so make sure you have plenty of water and sun protection. Maestro's Taverna is brilliant you have 10% off if you are staying at Arkadianos. Wednesday is Greek night, music, dancing, by the end the waiters are joining in the dancing, but on these nights you have to wait forever for your food as they are very busy. We really enjoyed our stay, if anyone wants to contact me about the apartments or the resort feel free to email me at parrh12@tiscali.co.uk Annette.

Sarah H (09 June 2002)

Hi I am going to the Arkadianos apartments in Aug 2002, with my hubbie and two girls aged 10 + 7. I am a little concerned about some of the comments I have read so far, can anybody reassure me that it is a nice place to stay at. Thanks!!

Jenna R (09 June 2002)

Me and my boyfriend (both 21) have just booked up to stay at these apartments between the 27th June '02 - 11th July '02. As a young couple would you recommend these apartments? And can you recommend places to go, things to see etc...

Lindsey R  (08 June 2002)

i have just arrived home from my second stay in the arkadianos in two years and have now booked up again. I love it there everything is excellent. its true what they say about the appartments they are very basic but all you do is shower and sleep in them. lovely pools and set in the perfect location.

Sandra M  (21 April 2002)

Thanks for your reply about Lithakia Beach Apartments. Have emailed sudtours to see if poss to book from UK - will let you know.

Rimmer   (13 April 2002)

Sandra - Lithakia Beach Apts are now only available through Sudtours a Dutch company. Arkadianos Apts are round the back of the 'Wild Rose' taverna, about 100 yds from the Lithakia Beach Apts, and much larger.

Sandra M (17 October 2001)

RE query re Arkadianos Apartments - Is this Lithakia Beach Apartments - forgot to leave my email for anyone who can help..sandrameek@yahoo.co.uk ..thanks

Sandra M (17 October 2001)

Pse can someone help ..We spent 3 great holidays staying at the Lithakia Beach Apartments - had two blocks - one overlooking the pool - the other older block around the back... They used to be with Airtours - but no longer ... Is this now Arkadianon Apartments bookable through JMC?? It is between the Maestro Restaurant and Manthos Tavern run by ever-smiling Dennis?? We loved Lithakia and have been trying to find out who to contact to book for next year. Pse help.

Catherine   (20 August 2001)

Agios Sostis is a fantastic resort. It's quiet and traditional with little greek tavernas but it's only a 25 minute walk along the beach to Lagana where all the night life and shops can be found. Also the views of marathonissi and cameo islands are really pleasent. The arkadianos has nothing wrong with it except it's been graded too highly. It's been given 3 suns in the brochure and is probably only a 2 sun unit. However, the annex is better than the main block and should probably be a 2 sun superiour. Yes the walls are thin, but again, the annex has less of a problem and also has more spacious rooms. If you're booking here, request the annex. You won't get a sea view though, just of the main pool. This unit is new to jmc and the company are doing their best to sort it all out. It is greece and they are working against a very laid back hotelier. There will be a kids club in operation from next year (2002) for 5-12 year olds. Some of you may have noticed it way up and running this year as a trial. Finally a general comment about reps. They are people who take a hell of a lot of abuse due to the nature of their work. My advice is simple and one of common courteousy. If you have a problem, approach them in a calm and polite manner and I can assure you the reps will give you their full help if your problem is reasonable. Approach them by shouting abuse and, although polite, they won't give you the same support. Nobody appreciates being shouted at. Give your rep a break. Simply be a little politer. And please don't turn round and say you never saw your rep if a) you didn't go to your intro to find out what they even look like and b) you never bothered to find the noticeboard (usually in reception) to find out when they're working. Reps do actually get time off you know (the arkadianos reps get a morning and an afternoon a week).

Dean   (06 August 2001)

Agios Sostis is a great resort... If you want Brits on tour and nightclubs, go to Laganas. What you get at Agios Sostis (also known as Lithakia Beach) is a pleasant 'Greek' beach resort. Ideal for family with a safe, quiet beach and lovely Tavernas on stilts over the beach. The apartment we stayed in (front block, facing sea, grnd floor) was clean, pleasant and well built... a little noisy at around 1:00 am but we did sleep with the doors open! I think we were lucky with the apartment situ, some looked nicer than others but bear in mind that the general Greek standard is not too high anyway. Location is more important, and this one is brill. We ate at their own restaurant (Maestro) most nites... very friendly service and fantastic setting on the beachside plus we were hard pushed to top 20 pounds for dinner/drink for 3. I would also agree, see Dennis at Manthos for boat trips/hire... also good for breakfast. JMC flight, on time and comfortable. Resort rep could have been more helpful/friendly... luckily we had no cause to use her. I would add that Aghios is only about 20 mins from the airport and is the last drop-off hence the 1:30 xfer time... You could save an hour and get a taxi for appx 20 pounds. Also Zante airport is chaos, no fault of JMC, just it's too small for the thru-put... If you can take hand-luggage only, DO, it could save you an hour or two. Overall 10/10 and we'd go again. deanchapman@btinternet.com

David P  (23 July 2001)

Spent 2 weeks at the Arkadianos room 111 overlooking the biggest pool. Found it to be same greek standard as most places, staff behind bar very friendly and Sabina the cleaner will get you more pillows/towels if you ask. We took our 4 children and had a great holiday. Best food we found at the Paradise, plus kids had play area and pool table to occupy them whilst we had after dinner drinks (complimentary). Book an hours turtle sightseeing with Dennis at the Mathos Restaurant, cheap and guaranteed to see them. Dont count on the autobanks always working in Laganas though, but nice coastal walk to take in the early evening. Our room was quiet and also thankfully cool during the night. You can hire fans if needed but refuse to pay the charge and the manager will give you these free.

Sue E  (18 July 2001)

We went early July, had apartment at the front, overlooking the pool and the sea (see Turtle Island) would not have wanted to be in the back apartments (too noisy) apartment basic but clean. Lack of customer care by JMC and the owners very apparent. Owners seemed more interested in doing their own thing (younger ones). Panarama restaurant better than most local restaurants.

Gail J  (16 July 2001)

Dear Kaz, Thanks for putting my mind at rest on the apartments we have also requested a Sea View so maybe we will be lucky too. I think it would be a great idea to E.Mail each other we will be getting on everybody elses nerves if we keep using this site. My address is gail.utah@btinternet.com Speak to you soon. Gail

Kaz R  (14 July 2001)

DEAR GAIL DONT BE PUT OFF BY OTHER PEOPLES COMMENTS. YES THE APARTMENTS ARE BASIC BUT AFTER ALL YOU ONLY SHOWER AND SLEEP IN THEM. THE APARTMENTS ARE IN TWO BLOCKS WE WERE LUCKY AND GOT THE FRONT BLOCK AND HAD A LOVLY SEA VIEW. THE TIME WE WILL BE GOING IS VERY QUITE ANY LATER IN THE YEAR AND YES I WOULD SAY IT WOULD BE VERY NOISEY. I COME FROM SUFFOLK (EAST ANGLIA) AND WILL BE FLYING FROM STANSTED. DO YOU HAVE A E-MAIL ADDRESS IF SO PREHAPS WE COULD KEEP IN TOUCH BY E-MAIL. LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU AGAIN KAZ

Gail J  (13 July 2001)

Dear Kaz, I was delighted to hear that you will be there at the same time next year especially as your daughter is the same age as my son. I live on the Wirral so I will be flying from Manchester just wondered if you would be on our flight. The last few comments on the Apartments have got me very nervous though!. Speak to you soon. Gail

C B  (11 July 2001)

Although the area and location of the resort is excellent and Zante is lovely - the Arkadianos Apartments are awful. We were only there for a week, but there was not a day went by without someone complaining to either the JMC rep or the Arkadianos staff(mind - they seemed to be used to it). The apartments/hotel are getting pretty run down but I don't think the owner is too bothered to get them upgraded...they must be paying for his porche.. Don't expect to get much sleep either - you can hear the mosquito’s fart next door. Overall - frustratingly poor for the price you pay !

Su G  (06 July 2001)

We got back on 28th June. The apartment walls are so thin you can hear your neighbours breathing and we could see daylight thru' our roof! We were at the front block - very noisy from nearby bar. The resort is very nice the apartments not so good, weather was great and we saw some beautiful turtles- made it worth the visit - wouldnt go again.

Kaz R  (05 July 2001)

Dear Gail thanks for your reply glad you found it useful. Me and my family fly out the 19th May next year to so i will hold you to that drink. kaz

Gail J  (04 July 2001)

Dear Kaz Rumsby, Thak you for your comments you have been very helpful. I'm sorry I have not replied earlier but we have just got back from Menorca (which I can higly recommend if you haven't been.) It was nice to hear that you have booked again that is a good recommendation in itself. We go on 19th May for two weeks let me know if you are there then and I will buy you a drink in the bar to say thanks. Bye for now Gail Jones.

Martine G  (30 June 2001)

We have just come back from two weeks spent at these apartments. Our room was lovely and v.clean, not very sound proof though! The staff were friendly and the meals at the bigger pool bar were excellent and v.good value.

Manowales (27 June 2001)

I'm staying here in July. Can anyone give me details of car hire firms that are reasonable?

Francis J  (23 June 2001)

Have just got back from two weeks at these apartments. We had a room in the front block which was basic but okay. Not much sound proofing, so a bit noisy as we were on the ground floor where everyone walked past. There isn't much to do in the resort itself, you'll need to walk to Lagana - 20 mins along the beach, or hire a car or moped and go further afield. We did the entire island in one day by moped. We had a good holiday, but wouldn't go back.

location was good, but not a lot to do during the day. we stayed by the pool or beach most of the time both of which are very near. The apartments were basic but clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would go again.

I am staying at the Arkadianos Apartments next May/June. It is the first holiday without my two older daughters and I am worried there will be nothing to entertain my 12 year old son. Can anyone advise. Also are the Apratments clean and quiet. I would be very grateful for any information anybody can provide. Many Thanks Gail

Hi, For anyone going to Aghios Sostis you will love it if you prefer the quiet life. We stayed in Lithakia at the Lithakia Beach Hotel apartments. It is run by a man called Dennis and his two sons. They make you feel very much part of the family. The food is quite reasonable too, especially lamb on the spit. There are a few other tavernas in the area, very much spaced out. Its worth exploring around lithakia village. The locals love to pass the time of day. You could ask Dennis to hire one of his boats and go and see the turtles. A wonderful experience. For a bit more life you could walk round the headland into LAGANA, the main resort. By the time a couple of hours have passed you will be glad of the peace and quiet once again. If anyone has stayed with Dennis, I would be happy to hear how they enjoyed their visit. Annie

The apartments are clean and tidy but obviously quite basic. The location is excellent! Right next to the beach. There are 2 swimming pools and 2 kiddies pools. There are about 10 tavernas/restaurants in the area and all serve great food. Not many of them have high chairs but Syrtakis do and so do Manthos. The Maestro Restaurant has Greek dancers once a week and they are worth checking out.

Hello Jessica Sorry I can't help, but I was wondering whether you could let me know what you think about the Apartments when you have been, or if you find out anything in the meantime. I am going there with my husband on 14th June 2001. Any info would be gratefully appreciated. Hope you have a good time! Carolyn
