beautiful setting right by the sea, very romantic and the food was well cooked and presented. One of the nicest meals of the week. Service very friendly and all food cooked from fresh, but worth the wait.

would defo recommend!

beautiful position right by the sea, fantastic food and wine, service was great and all staff very friendly. brilliant night out, class above other restaurants in argassi.

Lovely setting, good service, very nice food presentation and most importantly good food!  I was a little wary of having another souvlaki after 13 days on the island and little to choose between the other places, but this one was by far the best. Only slight gripe I would have is that the menus themselves (rather than the choice of dishes) are done in an amateurish way that does not befit the quality of food.

We ate in a number of restaurants all over the island, but this was the best. Apart from the setting, with great views around the coast, the food was excellent. We ate here on 2 occasions, the highlights being the calamari which was perfectly cooked, & served with an excellent & original orange sauce. A Zaykinthan mixed-meat caserole had slightly too much salt for my taste, but other than that & despite higher than average prices, the restaurant is definitely worth the visit.

Great place to eat just for the view alone, very romantic, can get a bit chilly in the evening though (or was that just the waitress!?).

Bit slow on service but when the food did arrive it was excellent and presented very well. Would definately recommend a visit but can be a bit pricey.

We had some very good food in Argassi but here it was a completely different ball-game to the other places we visited. It is a classy, upmarket place, wine put in ice etc. The food reflected that, it was simply great quality.

The australian woman complained about elsewhere, was simply straight forward, she was friendly and welcoming but no fixed smile which I found refreshing.

Head out of the centre of Argassi in the direction of Zante, it's on the shore, by the sea, beautiful setting.

I like good food, and in my opinion Symposium is the only restaurant worth going to in Argassi, and I think I have tried them all. The food has a bit of flair and the staff are truly excellent. If you want a comedy of errors go to Stars, the Three Brothers or Premier - all of which are disastrous in the culinary stakes. The Greek dishes are excellent and all have a twist. We had yummy Calamari, Village Sausage, Priests Casserole, Chicken Souvlaki; and the Stuffed Lamb, is the best lamb I have ever tasted. Not all at one sitting! We loved the place so much we were there 5 times in two weeks.

Julie A  (14 July 2003)

We ate here twice when we were in Argassi. It is at the end of the main road towards Zakynthos Town. Although a little more expensive than the rest of the restaurants in Zakynthos it is well below what you would pay in the UK for a restaurant with this much atmosphere and attention to detail. Food was modern greek, service was outstanding. It is situated right by the sea with a view into Zakynthos Town. If there was anything wrong with the food, then the portions were too big and some dishes were very salty. This is a great place for a special meal but if you just want chips with everything then you've got just about every other restaurant in Argassi to go to. Also, if you're not sure about which wine to choose, then ask the waitress.

Just got back last week from argassi. My wife and i were there four years ago. Had two fantastic meals in the SYMPOSIOM restaurant. The food was first class and the service was second to none. The price was a little bit more than other places but the setting more than made up for that.Undoubtedly he most romantic restaurant on the island

Katy W  (30 August 2002)

We had two experiences of the Symposium. The first time we went, we sat by the sea and really emjoyed the food. On going back, however, it was a comedy of errors. The bread we were brought was stale and when we asked for a replacement, the surly Australian hostess insisted it was fresh and that we didn't know what real homemade bread was like!! Then we waited over half an hour for our starters (only tzatziki), and were told after we had paid the bill the we had not been charged for the bottled water, so could we pay some more .......!! Sadly, it was our last night on Zakynthos, so rather coloured our experience.

Hywel J  (03 July 2002)

Although the food was good the service was almost laughably bad. We were made to feel particularly uncomfortable by the sneering waitress/owner and to be honest couldn't wait to leave !

Sally A  (01 July 2002)

When we stayed in argassi this was just the most wnderfull and romatic place to go food and service great....

Steve C  (06 June 2002)

We found Symposiom on our 2nd night in Argassi. The food, the resteraunt, the service were second to none we found in Argassi, or the rest of Zanti. Steve

Yes, the view and the sunset was fantastic. We found the staff very helpful and the food excellent. This was the second best meal that we had in a fortnight of eating out every night. This was my birthday (although they did not know that) so it was extra special.

Chas C  (02 October 2001)

we fell for the view-food terrible service was even worse we waited two hours for our meal-awful!

Dean D  (04 September 2001)

Situated at the far end of the main street as you head towards Zakynthos Town. We were tempted to go as it looked like a really nice place, and in a great location, right next to the sea. Sadly that was the only good thing about it. The owner (or senior waitress) is Australian and has taken traditional Greek dishes and corrupted them with a " new cuisine" style of presentation & ingredients. The wine was over priced and foul. We tried to "fill up" on desserts, but everything we ordered was "finished", They recommended the cake as it was the only thing they had. I would avoid this one, folks.!!
