We had a great time in Tsilivi in June this year. Weather lovely. Lots of mosquito's though. My friend and I used autan, but we were advised by a know it all while we were over there that jungle formula is better, bit more expensive but if you spray it around the bottom and the edge of your curtains at night you don't get bit. She also recommeded boots own brand of after sun which contains a repellent.

June is the perfect time to visit Zante, the weather is still hot obviously, but it's a heat you can stand, for the people that don't really like it scorching, the only down side was that it wasn't very busy, well not as much as I've seen in previous years in Kalamaki. But the weather and temperature side of it was great.

Just arrived home, went 1st-8th June.Weather was fantastic. Had one thunderstorm - watched the lightning from a taverna- never seen anything like it (8pm at night).  Rained for half an hour - that was it.

Just how hot does it get in June?  We usually go in September.

As long as we don't fly into a storm, which we have done the last two times, that will be a bonus!

I went to kalamaki in june 2003. They was lots to do for children..It Was that good im looking forward to going back in june 2005.   the best bar in the town was isis they are freindly and always smilling.

 Well we went towards the end of june and will try again this year the weather was really great my shoulders are still scarred fromlast year lol

I think June is the best time to go to Zante .. no kids.. and its not too hot.. the island is becoming more and more developed ,,, which is a shame , but I suppose thats life.. I have been 8 times now, and mostly in June.. went in September one year , and it was wet and windy , but only at night..Tslivi is becoming the Blackpool of the island, which is not for me.. Kalamaki is great, with a great beach , if you can get away from the pool.. go to Laganas to party only

Hi all. We went Laganas last year at the end of August for 2 weeks - loved it so much we going back on May 30th 05 for the whold summer.

Great bars to go to. Susan Hammond, Laganas is great for any age group, as if u like the night life, the strip is great, but if u want a quieter 1, theres some nice bars to chill out in, so its ideal for any one really.

hi there, i went end of august this year, but i am flying out on my own on the 5th june next year too. It is best to book trips with the locals, like dionysis tours. Prices out there are quite reasonable. for two weeks last year excludin trips i probably spent about 250 i think

Middle two weeks of June 2004 was fantastic. Hot, no rain and just the right amount of people around without being too crowded.

I went june this year an it was just a little too hot to handle! Went in september last year much better weather was still great didnt have rain at all and it was just as busy as ever espesh 18-30 but if u like it lively then youll be fine hope it helped

Fantastic week here from 24th June. Weather was scorching every day, hit around 40 most days. Never a cloud in the sky or a sinlge drop of rain....

Great time to go, avoid all the t***s and most the kids(unfortunately not the greek ones at our apartments!), get lots of free drinks and service is generally better than in high season, bars aren't crammed packed with karaoke every night, is much nicer if you want a more chilled out holiday! Weather was great not too hot its uncomfortable but some rain and great thunderstorms!! I would say make sure u take some warmer things this time of year as can be quite chilly at night.

Had a great week 7th to 14th June in Kalamaki - weather glorious except cloudy with bit drizzle one day - Stayed at the Hotel Venus - Great hotel, charming resort - hope to go back one day - Turtle cruise was brill - disappointed with the Thomson rep 'Saturday nite live' show, far too pricey for what you get. All in all, a memorable holiday

Just got back yesterday. It was hot all week (late 20s early 30s) and very warm on a night too. Don't worry too much about the weather forecasts. I checked before we went and it said it was going to be cloudy and around 20 all week but we only got cloud on our last afternoon.

We've just returned on the 8th and we were leaving behind lovely warm weather. Although the best day we had was the day we were leaving, everyday before that was quite cloudy at times with the odd patch of rain. However I think this has passed now and is supposedly meant to be up in the 30's within the next week or two.

Natalie, To answer your questions - Laganas is brilliant for couples and singles. Ive done both and June is v. busy, whether couple or single you will meet loads of people coz every1 is really friendly. We liked Zeros, Rescues and Cocktails & Dreams which are all on the main strip opposite one another but it depends what you like - they're banging but further up the strip its quieter and you can find bars that aren't so full on. Loads of nice places to eat but Romios is really nice (right at Cosy Corner-just off main strip) read some of the reviews on their site and also Bee Garden which is the best chinese in Laganas that's also on main strip opposite Ionis Hotel. For films we found a bar also opposite Ionis but we watched them at around 6ish, not sure about the daytime as we spent it round the pool. Im going back on 27th June with girlfriends for 2weeks, cant wait either! Hope this has helped? Have a fantastic time - I know we will !!!

I went to Kalamaki which is up the road from Laganas last year and i loved every second of it, This year im going to Laganas with my other half on June the thiird and wondered if anyone knows if they do any good excursions plus the airport is not that bad!!!

Can someone let me know what the aiport is like as I am a little concerned due to the fact I suffer from Claustraphobia in severe cases. I have heard that you have to cue outside for up to an hour to get into the airport?? What are the facilities like???

we have been every June since 1998 (and this year) and weather always fantastic..

holly, we went 10 to 24 june last year weather was unbelievable some days we were getting upto 44 degrees it was too hot to sit in. we made friends with a greek family out there and they said they had never known it so hot in june. still enjoyed it though best holiday we ever had.

we went in june and stopped in plessas studios the people who owened them were very friendly the nightlife was okay and the food was great in the day time we used the pool/bar called the chill out bar the best place to go in the day time the owners yannis and dennis are very friendly they make you feel very welcome and there ommletts are nice i found it very relaxing and the place is not commercialised oh sorry theres a macdonalds. we hired a mophed a travelled the island in 10 hours its a very beautiful country and recommend it to couples and familys i don't think i'll forget this hoilday in long time the people we met were great and i had a brill time

What can I say but the weather was HOT, HOT, HOT. Not complaining just didn,t expect it. Appartently this was an exceptionally hot June. The kids coped well with the heat so no complaints. There were beautiful colours from the plants and it was not too busy so I think it is a good time to visit as you have such long hot days and long hot evenings. Beautiful island. Beautiful people. Horrible airport

Yes the weather was great (v. hot). I went on my own, but met so many friendly people and had a great time. I cant wait untl next year so if I can I might have a week in September when there is a breeze and the nights are cooler.

Just got back yesterday 3July. Fanastic time. The weather was very very hot. Some days it was very close to 50 c The only problem was there was not the usual Zante breeze blowing, so it was a bit too hot. Having said that it was wonderful.

My Boyfriend and I got back from holiday on the 29th June, we did'nt want to come home. The Weather was so nice very hot.
We stayed at Planos Bay appartments and it was very nice staff were very helpfull, good evening entertainment.
Lots to do in the evenings.
Would recommend going to anyone.

Have never been to Zante before and it was 48C on Saturday 14th June and on Sunday 15th June at 6pm, the thermometer by our Hotel pool was 52C. Boy was that HOT!!!!

june is definately the best time to visit, however got back on sunday and it was the hottest i've known it in 7 years. the turtles were out in the bay, the nightlife was good, the food was brilliant, and the people are lovely, will be back in september... cant wait till next year. had too good a time

Almost too hot. it got up too 45 degrees in the sun at one point. Not the typical weather for June I have been told.
If your just about to venture out to Zante, take a fan with you (you can hire them out there) or ask for a.c. rooms. Your gonna need it !!!

Im about to fly in 12 hrs to zante for my third year in a row! Im staying in Kalamaki with my dad and was just wonering what the nightlife is like? I stayed in Lagana the previous times and really liked the nightlife but i suspect it wont be my dads cup of tea! Any info would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

I saw on the ineternet before I went that it was 64 degrees and cliudy with rain. Got there June 1st, week that followed it didn't drop under 80 degrees, even reached 100 degrees. Its hot sunny and we had one afternoon with cloud, I can only presume that end of June to mid july will be pretty much of the same. English food, shouldn't be a problem Mermaids is loved by those that love a harvester and their Steaks ( although hop eu like it well done, whatever u ask for), we didn't have a great meal there but you might? If he likes Pizza and Pasta he'll be fine in any resturant, and try Mustang Saloon for brekki (even have Heniz Ketchup and HP!!!!). Try Lamb Kleftiko in any GREEK restaurant tender lamb with roast potatoes and veg, a greek twist on the old english roast lamb!!!

We were there first week of June I imagine it was still picking up people wise. Still busy though, but the bars could have done with being a bit busier. If you find it too quiet for a really BIG nighhtout a cab to Laganas in 6-7 euros and run until late!! Kalamaki is coupley more than crowds of singles but it's the classier end of the laganas road (once you've been to laganas you'll know what I mean!) Good resturants our faves: Paris, Padesina, wanted to try Mikelos but got distracted every night - I hear its a must try.

June is a great month to go. We are both 25 and loved the beauty of Kalamaki as it is positioned in a such a way that you can ahve a late night but don't scarafice your sleep, quality of food or bars.

About the weather. I'm affraid you just can't tell at that time of year. We have been in September and it's been terrible, yet we have also been in October and it's been very hot and no rain at all. Hopefully by the time you get there it will have all cleared up. I'm sure you should get enough sun for a tan.

Zante Top Tips & Tsilivi


Hello Everyone,
My wife and I have been to Tsilivi five times now, staying each time at 'Zante Palace' apartments. Here is some information that we hope you will find useful based on our personal experience. 'Have A Great Time'

I am assuming you have not been to Zante before.

1. When arriving at Zante airport you will be transferred by coach from the aircraft to the airport where you will pass through passport control onto luggage collection. This always makes me smile because it would be quicker to walk from the aircraft to the terminal, it's so close.
Once inside you will notice straight away how small and very busy it is. I would suggest making your way to the far end of the carousel making sure you stand the building exit door side. It's the last point for collecting luggage before it goes round again but at least you won't have to fight through the crowds to get out.

2. Once outside you will find plenty of taxis waiting on the far side, behind where all the coaches park. If by chance none are waiting, don't worry one will come along in a few minutes, they come and go all day. Just go up and ask for the price to take you your accommodation. It was about £7 - £8 pounds (converted) when we went in October 2001 to Zante Palace, and as you are staying near enough in the same area it should be about the same. This price is for the car, not per person. The Journey takes approx twenty - thirty minutes depending on the driver!. The drivers are all friendly and happy to help.
The thing I like about using taxis are that you beat the coaches to you accommodation so you get checked in nice and quick.

3. The water, not suitable for drinking unless you have very strong stomach. It's.o.k for boiling to make drinks and cleaning teeth but that's about it, and of course showering. Use bottled water which is cheap to buy from the local shop. It will work out even cheaper if you purchase in bulk. Go to the end of the long straight road (town end), turn left and about thirty yards on the left you will find a supermarket selling just about everything. Depending how close you are to Zante Palace apartments there is a small supermarket just below them at the other end of the long road which is very reasonable.
If your accommodation has a fridge, put your bottle of water in the ice box. Although it will turn into the largest ice cube ever, it will gradually thaw out when your out and about giving you a cold refreshing drink for a good part of the day.

4. Power Supply, 220 Volts AC, two round pin socket.

5. I don't know if your accommodation has air conditioning or not. If it hasn't you will normally find that you can hire a fan from reception for the duration of your holiday. It is definitely worth it and I would recommend it. Try and hire it when you check in as they are sometimes in short supply in high season. If they have safety deposit boxes for hire get one of those as well, again it is worth it, if only for piece of mind.

6. Car Hire, cheaper if you book it yourself rather than go through the rep. Again just go to the end of the road (town end) turn left and you will find several companies to choose from. if like us you prefer a scooter I can recommend 'Theo's' who keep all their scooters up to date with the latest models and will supply crash helmets if required. They can be found up in the town. Again go to the end of the road (town end) turn left, then right at the fork, carry on walking for about ten minutes where you will see 'Theo's' scooters on your right. They also do car hire. Don't forget to take your driving licence as this will be required when hiring either car or scooter and is usually kept by the company until the vehicle is returned. They will let you take your licence back if you prefer, just ask at time of booking.

Warning. Unless you are an experienced rider I would not recommend the scooter hire. The roads can be treacherous in places with large pot holes. The surface can also be like a skating ring in places due to the extremely dry conditions and type of surface. This is very noticeable in Zante Town.

7. One stop on from 'Theo's' scooter/car hire on the same side is the 'Utopia' bar run by, yes you guessed it, Yannis. Everyone seems to be called Yannis. He's a great guy and a true gent who will always be pleased to see you and help you out. He has a new yacht which he takes people out on trips round the island to places that you would not normally go on an organised trip. Mention our names and he will probably charge you double, haha. He has a hard life, he runs his bar with his mother and staff in the summer along with his boat trips and then in the winter he spends all his time ski-ing and snow boarding in his girl friends country, Austria or somewhere like that. It's a tough life, but someone has to do it!

8. For a great view of Zante harbour visit the Balcony Bar/Restaurant. You will need transport for this as it is a bit off the beaten track.
Directions. Follow the road as if heading towards Zante Palace. Keep following the road up and round the twists and turns for approx 2 - 3 miles. Keep your eyes open for the sign directing you to the Balcony Bar/Restaurant. You will turn right off the main road on to what some times seems a track. keep following the signs. Once there you will not be disappointed. A bit pricier than elsewhere, but the view is worth it.

9. There are many places to eat, all offering good quality and value for money. You will no doubt find a particular favourite. Most people don't eat before nine when the temperature has dropped to a more palatable level.

10. If like us you like to take the odd drink home!, I would recommend purchasing your tipple on the island as it is cheaper than the airport and on the aircraft. On the other side of the road before 'Theo's' scooter/car hire is a supermarket called 'Margarita's who we found could not be beaten on price, also do money exchange.

11. The bank. Situated in the town. At the end of the road (town end) turn left and left at the fork. Keep walking for a few minutes and you will see the bank on your left.
Although the exchange rate should be the same now they have gone fully over to the Euro you may still find you need to shop around for the best rate.

12. Medical. There is a very good pharmacy on the outskirts of the town with very knowledgeable staff that will actually sell you antibiotics over the counter if they think appropriate or will organise a doctor to see you. Again go to the end of the road (town end) turn left and left at the fork, keep going until you are almost through the town where you will see the pharmacy on your left. You can recognise it by the sign, a green cross on a white background.

13. The beach. You can't miss it, about a five -ten minute walk from your accommodation. Long stretch of soft sand which gets extremely hot and will burn your feet if not careful. Several places to get food and drink. Water sports span the beach including Para gliding and jet ski's. Don't bother going to the bar situated on the beach behind the jet ski place near Zante Palace, recognisable by a straw roof. Not up to much. There are two guys that just walk up and down the beach all day, one sells fresh fruit salad (Dennis the menace) and the other sells doughnuts. All fresh and very tasty. Not much in the way of toilet facilities unless your down the far end where some of the hotels back onto the beach. This is where the scooter can come in useful, if you know what I mean!.

14.Volimez market is a good place to visit for bargains in leather (especially belts) china, linen and rugs. A bit of a trek but worth it with plenty of places to stop on the way for refreshments and views. Allow a full day for this trip.

15. Zante Town. A bustling harbour town where there are plenty of shops including designer if you are prepared to scout round the narrow streets to find them. Remember, most but not all shops close in the afternoon until early evening so if you fancy a shopping trip best to do it in the morning. You can also see the fishermen bringing in the catch. They will sell you fish direct of the boat if you wish. This is also where you can get a good deal on boat trips of various sorts. Plenty of bars and restaurants where you can relax and just watch the world go by.

16. All public phone boxes use a phone card which can are cheap to purchase from most shops.

17. Postal Service, Don't bother sending post cards home, as you will have returned home from your holiday days if not weeks before they arrive.


18. Top Tip!, It's that time we either hate or can't wait, and that's going home. As I said at the beginning, Zante airport is very small in comparison with most airports.
And the departure lounge is no exception. Although it has a small duty free shop, refreshments and loo's it gets very crowded. There are allot of seats but are usually all taken. There is also usually a cloud hanging over the whole area from the smokers who are all either totally ignorant or cannot read the signs in the non smoking area's!.
To avoid this health hazard follow my tip.
When you have checked in your luggage instead of queuing up at passport control to go through into 'Lung Cancer City' just go back out side into the fresh air and sunshine. There are plenty of places about where you can sit, either in the sun or under a tree. The area where you checked in your luggage has all you should need, refreshment bar, toilets and a monitor. Just pop back into the terminal now and again to check your flight details on the monitor. When you know your flight is about to land or has just landed then queue up at passport control to go through. If by chance when you are queuing they call to say your flight is now boarding and your way back in the queue, just make your way to the front and explain to the other passengers that your flight is boarding and that you need to get through. They won't mind, trust me, I know from experience. If you time it right though you can almost go straight through passport control and onto the coach to the aircraft, bypassing Benson & Hedges test factory.
One last tip, when you first arrive at the airport you will no doubt have to queue up outside. Only part of the outside area is covered giving you some protection from the sun, so it is advisable to make sure you have a hat and a bottle of water available in your hand luggage as you could be queuing for anything up to an hour.

I hope this is of some use. It's surprising how a few helpful lines can turn into a book, perhaps I should get it published, haha.

By the way, there is life in the form of bars and shops if you turn RIGHT at the end of the road!

I went to Zante in sept 2000. Going back in June 2003! Glad to hear the weather was great. Cant wait!!! Anyone going june 8th for two weeks?

I went to Laganas in June 2002 and the weather was fantastic!! It was hot everyday!!! Only one late afternoon was it overcast, but still baking hot!!! We loved it, nevermind just liking it!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I wanna go back!!!
