We had a fantastic time at the Phoenix Beach Hotel (which acording to the sign in our room is now 4*) it cannot be faulted in any way....our room was clean, spacious, nice decor and in general a lovely room....hotel staff are very friendly and happy to help...the breakfast is continentl, so not the greatest but it is still fresh and well prepared....basically if you want to go to tsilivi this is the place to stay its literally 10 seconds from the beach unlike others we looked at (strofades and Petros which are miles out!) and only 5 mins into the centre of tsilivi........had a fab holiday and wished we were staying for 2 weeks!!!....you must visit tsilivi, and you must stay here!!! 10/10! :)
Tsilivi has been one of the best holidays my family and i have visited. We had a sea view room also directly in the middle with beautiful views of the beach and distance land. We stayed for 2 weeks from the beggining of August and the weather was hot. Managed to make a lot of friends at the Pheonix Beach hotel not only new people but with the staf aswell. The receptionists were ver friendly and very talkative making you feel very welcomed, we also made a new friend Alex who was working on the poolside of the Bar (cleaning/sunbeds/waitressing) up for a laugh, and talked alot about his liltle brother from England and sending him a teletubie back to england through our friends. The hotel was very clean and the pool was a brilliant size, there was no fighting over sunbeds as a rule was put on the notice board that anyone reserving a sunbed within two hours may have the towels removed. The breakfast was resonable and was provided 7.30-9.30 and there was entertainment every tuesday night with a Greek BBQ and traditional dancing. The pool bar was open untill 12 and we walked along the beach alot in the eveining (path linked from the bar to the beach. Tsilivi had many good restaurants however i would recommend to visit Sweet Revenge as we returned every night after exploring all the restaurants we decided Sweet Revenge was the Best. We also made friends witht the family who owned the restuarant and will definately be revisiting to see them aswell.
we were very much surprised, when we got to the phoenix hotel .we had asked for a sea view room but were told they had all gone..imagine opening the curtain's and finding a front sea view. well that's what we got. it was just perfect right on the top floor middle room , amazing. the staff were great ,nothing was to much.can't complain about anything .it's definatly a place to go back to ..can't wait for next year..we only got back yesterday we did't want to leave.. thank's to georgia. alex on the beach who kept us so amused. shula at the reception( hope your ok now) we will see you all next year..we have found our paradise...only a 3 and a half hours flight away bye for now
We have just returned from the Phoenix Beach Hotel, and we are already booking again for next year! This was by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in. So clean and the people there are really helpful & friendly. The location is absolutely amazing, right on the beach and the best place to enjoy the view of an evening, was sitting at the pool bar with a cocktail looking out over the beautiful sea. True paradise! We could not fault this hotel at all. The pool was always clean and not too crowded. Not too many noisy people either even in August! My daughter (aged 7) loved it here. The staff were brilliant to her, really friendly with the kids. We ate in the pool bar every day apart from one at lunch time as the food was to die for! I would recommend the jacket potatoes and the chicken & bacon souvlaki! The best I have tasted! Very reasonably priced as well. The beach is lovely (not too narrow as per previous comments!) it was the best part of the beach along that stretch. It was really clean and safe for children as the water is very shallow. The rooms were spacious and immaculately clean. The bathroom was large, with a bath & a shower! and a huge mirror which covered one whole wall! It was big enough for two people to get ready in at the same time which is normally unheard of in Greece. We did not find the breakfast boring at all, in fact it was very nice. There was a choice of tea, coffee(not too strong as well!), and fruit juice. There was loads of different fresh fruits e.g. melon, peaches etc. Greek yoghurt, honey, cereals, white/brown rolls, toast, 3 different types of jam/marmalade, cheese & ham, and really scrummy cake, which my daughter absolutely loved! We would not expect to have bacon & eggs in Greece anyway! We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts here every day. Some days, we even took it down to the pool and ate it there on our sunloungers! This is by far the best hotel we have stayed in, and we would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone, either families or couples of any ages. We are definately going back!
LOVELY TWO WEEKS, DIDNT WANT TO COME HOME. I DO PREFER RHODES TO ZANTE AS IT IS HOTTER AND PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLIER. THE BREAKFAST WAS BORING AND NO CHOICE. THE BEACH IS NORROWER THAN EXPECTED WITH TOO MANY SUN BEDS.
Hi there,
We are just back and we loved the hotel. The location was perfect and the cleaning staff are very commited. Just a word of warning. The hotel is short of hangers as people keep taking the hangers home with them. We only had 7 hangers between the three of us in the room and the hotel didn't have any to spare. If I had known in advance I would have brought some from home.
Tony and I enjoyed our very recent week at the Phoenix Beach Hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel itself, rooms, pool area and beach bar were very clean and well maintained. We were lucky to have a great mix of people while we were there. The breakfast was quite basic and boring after day 2 unfortunately but we managed! The beach itself is quite narrow which I didn't expect but the water clean and calm. I think they should make more effort to clean the beach daily like they do in the States, and not cram quite so many sunbeds onto it. Overall a relaxing week and we would certainly consider returning.
just returned from our two week holiday at the phoenix & we can't wait to go back.
the hotel's location ,on the beach was fantastic , the pool very clean and always enough sunbeds.
you couldn't ask for better hosts than george & anna and as for the rest of the staff,,soylu, chrisoylu, giannis, georgia, philipus, sokratis, zlatha, dimitra, stumatis, giannis, dimitris,( if i have missed anybody i am really sorry),what can i say ,,,thank you all.
cocktails just dont taste the same.
if you have a family and are looking for somewhere safe, hot& relaxing then the phoenix beach is the only place you need....
thanks once again you lot and we will see you all again soon.

we just returned after two weeks at the phoenix beach and it was wonderful. i do agree with earlier comments about breakfast. we gave up and started going to popeyes for our breakfast and also some evening meals. The maids did drive me mad. i travelled with 3 children - one of them with special needs and could have done without being knocked at 8am every morning only to tell the maids to go away. (They also complained that the boys had left their shorts on the bathroom floor!) other than this, fantastic i will definately try and go back next year.
Just to update people on one of the restaurants _ we found the Camelot poor value for money. We got wafer thin steak that was stone cold and about 10 chips. kids meals were good though.
Back to the hotel - very friendly staff, pool clean and well maintained and brilliant location for beach.
like is a very weak word to describe this holiday love would be better.
many thanks to george and anna for agreat time the geek night was superb
also thanks to georgia and yanni at the pool bar
stay a while let avrio be your watch word
see you all september 2004 (booked) and september 2005 (booked)
Second year we have visited this hotel and nothing has changed..the staff are just as friendly and helpful, all areas are spotless! Friends joined us this year and were equally impressed and are planning a return visit. George & Anna are lovely hosts and ensure your stay is a good one. For evening meals outside the Hotel try Sweet Revenge..delicious crepes and also Trente Nova. The Boathouse on the beach is equally as good. MacDonalds has closed down by the way! The new hotel nextdoor to the Phoenix does not in anyway spoil the location.
WE STAYED HERE ON 7TH AUG 03 FOR 10 DAYS IT WAS LOVELY THE HOTEL WAS CLEAN &RECEPTION WAS ALWAYS WIL IN TO HELP IF ANY PROBS BREAKFAST WAS BASIC BUT STIL NICE THE POOL IS GREAT N UR RIGHT ON THE BEACH THE POOL BAR IS GREAT N PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY YOU ARE ONLY 5MINS FROM RESTURANTS N PUBS TRY MAJESTIC 4 A MEAL N REPORTAGE 4 A DRINK ITS GREAT
After reading the comments posted we were originally a bit nervous about the location, we are used to quiet locations especially after we learnt there was a nightclub not far from us, even on arrival passing by the McDonalds, we began to think that we'd made a bit error in our choice of town. However this seemed to be the only bit of commercialism that had met Tsilivi.
The hotel was great we had been warned about the floor flooding in the basement and were extra careful however it never flooded when using the shower, not until we ran a bath.
The pool was really clean and the bar staff really friendly, the age group of the other people staying there were a little older than us, but it didn't really cause too much of a problem.
We had specifically asked if there was any building work being carried out on the scrap of land shown in the pictures and Thomas Cook kindly advised not, however on arrival we did find that there was possibly a hotel currently in completion of construction, which still had the last few weeks being carried out, luckily this did not cause too many problems and the noise was minimal, apart from the odd cement lorry and builders drilling.
On a final note, the breakfast was exceptionally basic, I managed a week on toast and butter, but couldn't have done a second week, there was eggs, ham and cheese, rolls, yoghurt, honey and OJ, but that was about it.
I recommend that you try the "Camelot Restaurant", "Majestic" and "Athena" these were all absolutely brilliant and the service was even better, the cocktails served at "Reportage Bar" where also pretty strong!!!
Overall the holiday was great the apartment was exceptionally clean and well looked after, the stafff were always polite especially those behind reception who were always wanting to assist.
Just returned from 2 weeks of glorious weather, Phoenix Beach was
terrific - clean, friendly, great pool and pool bar - although
expensive. Best Greek breakfast we have had in spite of other people's
comments - not sure about the tinned peaches and condensed milk
though! Shame about the new massive hotel next door which was about to
admit its first guests the day we left. We don't think the beach has
the capacity for the extra 400 people. Also, we heared they are all
German - shame because there was a balanced Euro-mix around the beach.
Hotel was very suitable for our toddler and baby and quiet at night.

Just come back from a week at the Phoenix Beach Hotel.
Cannot praise it enough, George, his wife Anna, and the rest of the staff made sure we had a lovely holiday.
Hotel was excellent, room was spotless, and we really enjoyed the continental breakfasts.
Best Hotel in Tsilivi.
Steve and Donna
Just wanted to say hello to Deb & Ashley Huggins, and Annette & Brian. Enjoyed meeting you at the hotel last year. My computer crashed so I lost contact details. If you get this let me know, it would be good to catch up. lyndaregan@yahoo.co.uk
I am going back to the island on 8th June, but staying in laganas - anyone back then??
Well I have to say this was a real find for us - we stayed last year and are in regular contact with a couple who fly out twice a year to stay. George and his lovely wife Anna ensure every attention to detail is looked after. Our experience was that the hotel is spotless from top to tail and I agree with a comment below that the maids were sometimes a bit too eager (don't think we can really criticise that though!?!?!). The food at the bar was always excellent and, being married to a Head Chef, we had no complaints in the food dept whatsoever. I would agree that the breakfast could do with a bit of "brightening" but then buffet breakfasts abroad are usually the basics - it was fab for me but hubby could have murdered some bacon and eggs!!! We also discovered the fabulous Trente Nova Restaurant at the back of the hotel and to the right - absolutely superb service and food - do try it! We're planning another visit later in the year both to the hotel and certainly to frequent the wonderful home cooking at Trente Nova. For a spot of "inland" visiting, try finding "Aghia Mavra" church - I was very moved when I visited - a spectacular church perched in a small village. Good luck to George, Anna and the staff at Phoenix Beach for a successful and prosperous 2003, and also to all the lovely local people we met on our travels.
We spent a glorious two weeks here first two weeks of July 2002. Staff were lovely, rooms clean, pool area gorgeous; the kids didn't want to move away from it, despite beach being on doorstep. Recommend sipping cocktails in beach-side bar, watching the sun set. We would definitely return here.
second year running at this hotel seems better than last year it is worth conntacting them if you wont a sea view we had room 316 which is on the east side so it is shadeyd in the afternoon try there web site hotel phoenix beach zante
This is a very good standard of hotel. It is very clean and has good facilities. The location was very nice too, just near the beach. The only problem we experienced was with the over enthusiastic maids, who seemed to like to clean our room before 9am! but other than that, a very nice hotel.
we are staying here first two weeks in july. Has anyone been this year yet, for an up to date opinion on the hotel, cleanliness of rooms and info on facilities. Would appreciate comments before july. Thanks.
I stayed here when it first opened up , and had a very pleasant stay..the hotel is first class by any standards.
Hi Gorge, Trying to get in touch can you let me know your E'MAIL Address,Fax Number,Hotel Phone Number. John & Sue. john.mcintyre@barclays.co.uk
On 6th October 2000 we booked a 2 week holiday (Sept 23rd to Oct 8th 2001) at the Phoenix Beach Hotel, Tsilivi with JMC through Thomas Cook. We were told at the time that they had only one side seaview room left, so as we really wanted a seaview, I booked the room. When we arrived, we were given the key to Room 104 which turned out to be a basement room below street level. I asked at reception what had happened to the seaview room we had booked through Thomas Cook and found that we were not the first people to ask the same question! Thomas Cook have been apparently telling customers that "this is the last side seaview room" as we discovered when another couple from Manchester (who also booked their holiday via Thomas Cook last October) came up to tell us they had been told exactly the same thing. Photos of our side seaview room attached. As you can see, if you sat down, you can't see the sea, but if you stand on tiptoe (so long as there are no cars parked there) then Yes! you can see the sea. Not quite the photo JMC have in their brochure? Apart from that, it was my birthday and I had been told by Thomas Cook that flowers would be provided in our room - the JMC rep knew nothing about it and after apologising went out and bought me a birthday card! However! The Phoenix hotel is clean, bright, welcoming, with a nice pool and beach bar area. The staff are courteous, friendly and helpful. There was maid service and a change of bed linen every day. Free sunbeds round the pool, otherwise 1000Dr per sunbed per day on the grass or beach. The downside was the smell of sewage/sulphur coming from the drains in our basement room. The bathroom flooded if the wash hand basin was full and you pulled the plug out, so we didn't dare to have a bath!! The power shower was excellent. Continental breakfast buffet from 8 to 10 every morning - not many people went for the cold baked beans though! (yes, they sat in a bowl next to the yoghurt, first glance people thought it was fruit!) You can hire a fan at the Denis supermarket or at Tom and John's both only 50 metres from the hotel - air conditioning is only switched on during July and August. Loads of good restaurants, popular ones were Popeye's and Passage to Asia. We liked the Trenta Nova behind the Phoenix, Kontessina, Koukos and Nemesis too. We booked trips with both Pelargos and Dionysos - not much to choose between either company. We have been visiting Zante for the last 7 years, wonderful island, friendly people - I would stay at the Phoenix again, but either book direct with the hotel or find another travel agent
All the staff were very friendly and we had a very good holiday. The island is very pleasant and we had three good excursions. The whole island closes down at the end of October so be careful how late you leave your holiday or you may be asked to turn the lights off when you leave.
Enjoyed our stay, all the staff were freindly except for the guy that collects the money for the beds. Only let down was if you have a late flight the facilities are poor once you have checked out. Agree breakfast needs to improve.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. We did not witness any rows over the beds round the pool and even if you had to pay for the others on the grass or beach we felt that the price was reasonable for the day. Food at the pool bar was good but the buffet style breakfast in the hotel could be improved.
I was there at the same time as Alan and found the daytime staff on the Pool Bar to be surly and sometimes rude. The staff on reception were also not very friendly. Next time Kittykat stays there aske to be allocated room 106, it comes complete with indoor paddling pool!!
by far the best accomadation we have had so far in this resort already booked for next year 10 out of ten
by the way - Dave and Ann from Telford UK are katiekittykat :o
Alan must be at a different hotel cos the staff were wonderful and we were there at the same time for our second visit. Hotel is great, all the staff were brilliant, but we must mention George the boss, Sula on reception and Thannasis the cooker, plus all the staff at the beach bar. Yamas.
Location is excellent, as it's right on the beach, but also very near all the bars/restaurants. Thompson and JMC are the British tour operators. Quite a lot of Dutch and German visitors. Quite a lot of arguments about having to pay for sunbeds. Only a few free ones round the pool. The rest were 1000 drachmas a day for May, apparently doubles in high season!
The Hotel Complex itself is OK, but the staff are not very friendly. Only small number of free beds around the pool. Other wise Hotel guests have to pay for sun beds on the grass by the pool or on the beach!!
Fairly new - VERY plush - was used by Germans and Austrians - have now got an English Tour Operator
