Yassou. (Hello)

The ABV was absolutly brill. Im 16 years old and did not want to leave The people out there were amazing and they made u feel very welcome. For gorgeous food then the Apollo is the best place to go, We eat there 10 times over our stay and we didnt get sick of it. The food there is outstanding and Spyros and Andres treated us like family there. For people who have never been to the ABV before u will really enjoy Yannis. He is 1 of the people out there that rides the horse and carriage out there and u will hear him before u see him trust me. Please will you say Yassou to Jackie who works in Stonebridge  for us all please she should know us for being the Welsh 8 who was either there or in the Apollo. & Yassou too Spyros.

Effaristo
(Thankyou)

For any one who stays in the village i hope u have a brilliant time like we did

P.S try the Cuba Bar because pool is free.lol.

Holly W

Hi folks,

We are planning on staying at the Alykanas Beach Village in late October.

Can anyone tell me what the weather is like then as we have never really been abroad this late in the year.

Also, are all the tavernas etc still open in late October?

Thank you

Greig

Have just read s.g. comments (tells you something when they can't even put their full name).  I have never stayed at the Village but know it very well and have spoken to many people who have stayed there.  From what I have seen and heard the facilities are second to none.  Fantastic location, superb pools and friendly staff.  What more can you ask for.  Alykanas itself has some great bars and if you take the time to chat with the bar owners and staff you will end up making friends for life.  A holiday is what you make it and everything you will need for a fantastic holiday is on your doorstep. Take time out to find the Mill Bar for the best Greek Night ever.  Drop into Bonkers Bar on your way home for a night cap, or a snack through the day (you will receive a very warm welcome).  If you fancy a day full of thrills do the Jeep Safari.  What more can I add, can't be that bad or we wouldn't go back year after year!!!!

hi we went the 16th to 30th and it was very hot, when we arrived we had a chat with a couple that were leaving after 2 weeks and they said it had been between 28 and 34 everyday. we went with friends and they had a 16yr old daughter and we didnt see any evidence of p**verts, its the same as at home just stay in groups and keep yourself safe.[ your daughter i mean not adults!!!] we used to get up around 9 and found sunbeds, if they are all taken they have more out of sight which they will get if you ask. the beach sunbeds are 8euro for the day. have a fantastic holiday and dont worry she`ll be fine im sure.

Sinead O

hi booked abv 4 first and second week in june wats de weather like and do u have to be up early to get a sunbed by pool.is there sunbeds on beach if so wats de charge. i hear there are p**vs there is this true as i have a 13 year old daughter .i would really appreciate if someone would reply asap . many thanx

Sarah W

There isnt alot of night life in alykanas or alikes. If you have gone through a travel agent they put on a few nights out. There are plenty of restaurants and a few bars but i wouldn`t say they were lively. We went the 9th September last year and the weather was fantastic, around 80 to 85 most days, had a couple of showers but they only lasted an hour and then the sun dried it up with in mins, actually i would say sept is the best month to go. Hardly any mosquitoes and not so many children. U`ll have a great time. Ive got to wait another 14 months to go back!!!!  Have fun.

The studios for 5 are plenty big enough for a comfortable holiday. If your not happy with the size when you get there tell Gloria and she will sort something out for you.

Simone F

hiya just wonderin if there is anywhere near by with clubs n bars etc? also whats the weather like around the 10th sept? thnx

Joanna P

We have booked for a five people appartment! what we would like to know is are they big enough for us

Sarah W

Hi Gaynor, There isnt much for the kids to do in the evenings we took dominoes and playing cards [the age of our children are 14,11 & 7] we also went to Cheers in Alikes which is just a short stroll along the beach, or grab a horse and they will take you direct to Cheers for 5euro. They have a free pool table all night, playstations [ so let the kids take their games cos they dont have many] and the internet. As for the studios they are very nice but take tea towel and washing up stuff. Everything else is there. There is an ATM in Alykanas at the supermarket next to The Greedy Greek restaurant and 3 in Alikes. I would also take your own piriton/piriteze for mosquito bites and some plug in killers cos they do enjoy a feast!! Have a great holiday, we love it at the ABV. [  Also the hotel next door have some fantastic entertainment in the evenings, its worth going. They have a list in reception. Greece is very different you can just walk into any hotel and use their facilities and they dont care, we even took our own drinks cos its cheaper from the shops.]  Look forward to hearing what you thought of it when you get back.

Can you say hi to Gloria the boss 4 me, tell her Mr &  Mrs Walker send their wishes.
If you have any probs with your holiday tell her and she will sort it, We wanted to move rooms and she was fantastic.
Cheers, Sarah.

Gaynor R

Hi, my husband and I and our 3 children aged 12, 8 and 3 are going to the ABV on 3rd August for 2 weeks. We are stopping in a studio. Is there anything I need to pack in relation to the kitchen equipment etc? Also what is there for the children to do in the evenings? Can anyone suggest any particular places to visit or to eat out at. Are there any ATM's nearby? Where is the nearest chemist? Never been to Greece before but we are all really excited. Look forward to getting some comments back.

Sarah W

just read the last comment and are shocked that you disliked the complex!! all the local bars and restuarants are very good and the complex caters for everything you need for a self catering holiday, i just think some people are never happy and should stay at home if all they want to do is moan. abv has fantastic facilities and we have been all over europe on our holidays, alykanas is quiet but if you want lively night life you should do your homework before you book!! i would ignore the last review and have a great holiday here. best wishes.x

S G

"Apartment" dirty, noisy (walls & ceilings are paper-thin - don't stay here if you're sensitive to noise!!) & small. Very few cooking utensils, leaky shower & loo. Great pool bar serving good food (you must try the daily specials, they're cheap and delicious) although drinks are expensive. Good large pools, but tiles are sharp so if you have little ones, invest in some jellies or pool shoes - saw lots of cut feet! Reserve a sunbed early - they get snapped very quickly. Not all bad but won't stay here or in Alikanas again, as did not think much of the resort itself.

Rachel C

We have just booked to take our two children in June 2006 and having read all the fantastic comments about the resort and the ABV I just can't wait. I looked on the web site as I had little info about the resort (have only done Kalamaki) and its a great source of information. Do I really have to wait 11 months.....!

Jay

Hi jus wonderin if there's anyone goin to ABV around the 23rd july 2005 thats near my age (16/17). Went last year had a brill time. e mail me at depaor_7@hotmail.com if you're goin.

Sarah W

We got back on the 30th june after a 2 wk stay and wanted to share with everyone what a fantastic holiday we had. This was our 3rd visit to ABV and not our last, the complex is the best on the Island, it has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. We have 3 children and although there isnt any entertainment in the evenings they were very happy playing, talking to friends that they had made. There was a problem with the airconditioning but this was out of their control and they did get it fixed in the end. The swimming pools are clean and very large in comparison to other hotels/apartments on the Island and the gardens are kept to a very high standard. Its a very pretty and happy place to stay, no matter what you request Gloria will go out of her way to meet your needs. The food is fantastic and a good price, the drinks are alittle pricey but you get that in the UK on holiday. The Lemon Tree is a good restaurant, which has a play area for children, the horse and carriage take you there for 5euro. Also the Greedy Greek is great if you have a celebration, they arranged a table for 17 with banners and balloons and a cake for our 7 year old. [ A BIRTHDAY HE WONT FORGET ]  The airport has improved dramatically, we even got a seat!!! and didnt have to wait for long in the sun before going into the departure lounge. We highly reccommend you go to the ABV, they also rent out privately so you no longer have to pay for a rep. that you never see, saving you around £400. Enjoy .........  We cant wait to book for next year.

Susan J

We  have just returned from Zykynthos and fell in love with it, the Alykanas beach village facillities are excellent and everywhere is cleaned to a very high standard. All the restaurants serve very good food but try Katerinas kitchen if you want a good night out

Also the train ride is well worth 10 euros taking in beautiful scenery and great wine!.

Adelle C

We've just booked to go to Alykanas Beach Village on the 12th June 2005, I've never visited Zante, been to Crete and Corfu loads of times but its my first time to Z, just a quick question, is Alykanas quite busy? ie for familys? Me 28, Boyfriend 27 and his daughter 8, just wondering if there are things to do, also the apartments look lovely. Is Zante bad for mossquitos? They seem to eat me alive were ever i go so i'll be well prepared for them this trip to Greece!  Angry  All in all though it looks beautiful, can't wait!Tongue

Tony H

Found the apartments to be very clean, brilliant service for our stay, and very friendly.  Not to busy because we went at the start of the season.  Weather was not to hot but very enjoyable,  lovely view of the sea.  Thinking of booking again next year.

Sonia

Last season 1 ATM in Alykanas and 2 in Alykes.

Pete S

We're going to the Alykansa Beach Village in two weeks and wondered if there were cash machines (atms) in either Alykes and Alykanas. Its much easier being able to withdraw cash as and when needed and better than seeking out exchange bureaux.

Any idea?

Thanks

Joanne A

Could anyone that has stayed in the Alykanas Beach Village describe the layout of the 2 bedroomed apartment.  Is there any separate living area such as seating other than sitting on beds etc.  If you have stayed in the apartment, in your opinion, do you think it would be better to have 2 separate studios for a family of 4.  Thanks.

Sarah B

Can anyone let me know about public transport from Alykanas,do you need to hire a car or is it quite easy to catch buses etc?

Lloyd W

Hi everyone the Alykanas Village was a superb place the people the atmosphere was spot on i was lucky enough to work in the Alykanas Village and it was brilliant anyone who has any complaints about a Greek accomodation is stupid this is luxury compared to other places

Sarah

The entertainment is very limited at the beach village, they did have bingo a couple of nights and karaoke for the kids twice but on the whole there isnt alot for children to do in the evenings. [ there is a pool room that children can use ] And thanks Alexis, we have decided to give the water park a miss, and will be looking for another trip for the children, do you know of any? they are 14, 11, 7 yrs old.

Alexis R

the water park is very basic and quite pricey but it is worth a visit
the slides are a little unimaginative and the lazy river gets really crowded.there is an area for young children but we did not go to that,it looked ok though. they do not allow you to take your own food or drink in but we, like many others, smuggled food in and that saved us a fortune as it is really expensive there. the main pool with the spa was not very clean and there were sharp bits of broken tiles everywhere. the whole place is shabby for a new park but the kids enjoyed it anyway.

Donall M

Does the kids club in Alykanas Village include evening entertainment for younger kids ie mini disco

Sarah

Hi has anyone been to the water park on the island? If you have, what was it like, how much and was it worth the visit? Thanks for your help.

George

To "H" I have read your reply to the comments written about your friend. I would just like to say that we have been to Alykanas many times and have never witnessed the holiday rep`s disrespecting the customers but i must say that if i had heard such comments and swearing i would of wrote the same for everyone to see/read!! I can understand that you are obviously upset with the person concerned but is that because of your own reasons eg.you may have to stay on the island on your own or your genuine denial of what happened? When on holiday with children we have to protect them from witnessing such behaviour from other holiday makers and i totally agree that it is NOT acceptable from a rep, and she should be sent home with her P45. I hope she has learnt a valuable lesson by the experience, and as for you "H" look after number 1 as impressional friends will drag you down and that would be a shame as you sound like a good hearted person.

does anyone know the email address for alykanas beach village?

H

Ok now i was a representative in alykanas and i loved every moment of it, by reading a comment on the page it would seem that my friend had upset a few people while off duty, and i would just like to say that she is very upset and never ment to upset anyone, she loves her job and is more upset that soemone didnt talk to her, and instead put it on the internet,
so i would like to thank the person they know who they are you have upset my friend very much and is now re-thinking comming back to the job,
Alykanas is a fantastic place great places to eat and very nice bars everyone is very friendly over the 6 months i have never felt more at home, so anyone going please have an amazing time.

Mike R

Mark, the Alykans Beach Village email address is info@alykanasvillage.gr and the Manager's name is Gloria.

Sarah W

Hi Jane, Airtours and Direct holidays go to the Alykanas Beach Village resort. We booked online as you get more discounts.[with direct holidays]Best of luck with your search, but book early as they get lots of repeat guests!

Jane U

Hi

Can someone let me know which tour operators go to the Alykanas Beach Village?

Sarah W

What a fantastic holiday. You can not beat this place for a great holiday, the adults can relax and the kids will have a fantastic time. We have been all over the place, the canaries was great but this is a holiday made in heaven!! You really will nor experience a nicer place.

Amanda T

Everything was fantastic and surpassed our expectations. I would recommend this complex to everyone, families and couples. We would certainly go back again. Excellent!!!!

Mark C

does anyone have an email address for, alykanas beach village

Sarah W

hi, we also stayed here for 1 week from 9th sept, we had a great time but the 2 bedroomed apartments were not what we expected!! there is 1 bedroom and the 2nd is 2 single beds in the lounge area with the kitchen attatched. if 4 adults are going it is not really suitable if you want privacy as the couple in the bedroom have to walk through the lounge area to get to the bathroom!!! you might as well book the studio for 4, and its cheaper.but having said that we have booked for next year in a studio as you can not beat this place. this is going to be our 3rd visit and we will book for 2006 as soon as we can.the whole village is just wonderfull, the weather is fantastic and the beach is soooooo safe you will have the best holiday ever. it is a relaxing yet fun place for the kids as they can experience freedom which we cant do in this country. i look at this sight every time i go online so if you need any assistance just ask, we are going back [ all 16 of us,dont panic thats 9 adults and 7 kids!]and we are not rowdy.on 16th june 2005. cant wait to start packing!!! if you go here you will have a great holiday.bye for now.x

Peter M

First class !! Great hotel in a great location...excellent for kids...very very clean. The staff obviously take great pride and this is reflected in their service. Stayed 6.9.04 for 2 weeks.

Paul N

We arrived on september 9th. The complex is really clean and well looked after. We went with another family and we had a brilliant holiday, would love to return to the same place! The only advice i would give is don't let your kids have henna tatoos, my 2 children are now being treated for burns as a result of the henna, The poeple doing the tatoos are all along the main street in Alykanas, they are independent and have nothing to do with the Alykanas beach village, so be warned. Other than that we had a brilliant time and wish we were still there!

Jason D

All in all this was a great holiday!! the appartments are great! 3 stories and balconies, good 4 ppl wit small children, as the balconies are very safe! located in a brill spot with bars, restaraunts, shops only a short walk away! beach behind appartments about six steps down to it. pools are great. not allowed on the grass though.. found this out while playin football on it. hi to chickenz and 3stylers! Carly and louise too! had a great time and am goin back again next year!

Mike R

This is a fantastic complex in every respect, and you will not be disappointed by it's beachfront location. It's by far the best accomodation we've stayed at in Greece, and is very close to the various restaurants, bars & shops in Alikanas, and a 10-min walk to Alykes. The pools are large & clean and one is practically on the beach, there's a small mini-market which isn't too pricey, a kids club, a daily snack bar(reasonable prices), and a large bar area(drinks a little pricey). All in all a fabulous place to stay.

Alexis R

WE WENT TO THE BEACH VILLAGE FOR THE SECOND TIME.PREVIOUSLY GOING TWO YEARS AGO.IT IS STILL AS LOVELY AS EVER.ALYKANAS IS CHANGING.TOO MANY SHOPS SELLING THE SAME THING ,BUT IT IS STILL ONE OF THE NICEST PLACES TO VISIT.THE PEOPLE ARE SO FRIENDLY.RESTURANTS ARE STILL GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY.THE FOOD AT THE BEACH VILLAGE IS QUITE PRICEY COMPARED TO OTHER PLACES BUT THE QUALITY IS EXCELLENT.DRINKS ARE CREEPING UP IN PRICE ,THE EURO HAS DONE THAT. TEENAGERS ARE QUITE SAFE TO WANDER IN THE EVENINGS WE HAD TWO 15 YEAR OLDS WITH US AND THEY WERE O.K.IT IS A SUPER PLACE AND WELL WORTH A VISIT

Bob K

i have just returned from a two week stay at the white house appts which is at the back of bonkers bar. we have stayed here before, and was looking foreward to two weeks relaxing in the sun. it has been four years since last visited and was amazed at the difference. it would have been ok had it not been for the off duty reps from the village, air tours, panorma who ever, who came to our pool, which we had paid for, and completely took over. thier languge was such that a number of families with children left the pool area. i didnt mind the one or two who just wanted to unwind and relax but there was the odd couple ( believe me they were not on this planet ) who thought they owned the place. so to jordan and her foul mouthed big mate thanks for nothing. next time you see a plane full of punters flying overhead coming to your resort, dont shout out " p**s off home" which you did on more than one occasion, these people are paying for you to be on the island. compared to some, you have a really good time, i know my daughter was a rep in majorca.

Maurice H

I am traveling to Zakynthos and have a 1 year old daughter. Does anyone know if it's possible to get pasturized fresh milk like what's on sale in the UK & Ireland. I know it's available in Spain but I'm not sure about Greece

Jane L

The resort has to offer - pools, beaches, walking, sun, sand, sea, restaurants, bars, shops, horses and carriages, mini golf, boat trips, bus trips, public buses, taxis, watersports (ringoes, pedaloes), diving (by bus to St Nicholas), mini train, bicycles, hire cars, quad bikes, bouncy castles, kids playgrounds

The resort does not have to offer - mountains, discos, sports facilities, skiing, casino, cinema, nightclubs

Lisa M

what the resort has to offer and what thing there are to do for adults and children?

Sarah

To Jayne, We stayed in a studio for 4 and it was plenty big enough, infact it was alot bigger than we expected. My parents stayed in a studio that catered for 3 and theirs was big too, all the beds are propper beds so no one has to sleep on a sofa that has to be made up everyday. You will love it, they are spacious and clean. Enjoy your holiday. We have only got 3 days to go before we arrive!!!! [ not that we are excited - much!! ]

Jayne P

HI, have just booked to a studio appartment at the Alykanas Village. Does anybody how big they are?

Sarah

Gary, thanks for the advice. We are on the countdown now!!! I`ll let you know when we get back what the weather was like.

Peter M

Sarah....its looking good then !!! :-)

Gary C

Sarah, we were there from 12/8 to 26/8 and had 14 days of hot sun, 2 days where it was quite breezy (which was welcome!).The 2nd week was hotter than the 1st. Average temp was probably low to mid 30s so stock up on sun tan lotion as it is twice as cheap in the UK and 3 to 4 times cheaper in the UK for higher factors (20 and above)

Sarah

Hi to everyone that has just arrived home. We are going on the 9th, what has the weather been like? After spending 6 wks with the kids and the rain it would be nice to have some sunshine to look forward to!!!!

Kat H

We returned from alykanas beach on the 22nd and had the best holiday ever. went with my friend laila. This place is probably better for people aged around 16 to 18 because of all the bars and clubs in alikes (the next town about 3 minu walk along the beach) the restaunts are amazing, the best one to go to is either the lemon tree or one just as u go over a bridge into alikes. great coctail bars in alykanas. We found terri really bad, he made some really rude comments to us and a few other teenagers, u would keep your teenagers away from him his alittle scarey. Most girls fancy peter and he plays along abit. But my friend ended up getting with him most the holiday and then bumping into his gf! its an amazing place!

Gary C

Came back on 27/8 after 2wks here. one of the best apts we have stayed in. Apartments have 2 big bedrooms with good balcony. Ours overlooked bar/volleyball pool. The pools were great and the beach in front of the hotel is small but good. Entertainment in the evening is average (Bingo,Karaoke, quiz etc). The snack bar serves decent food especially the breakfasts. We paid for air conditioning which is a bit pricy (50E/wk) but it was well worth it in the end. We all had a great holiday and would definately go back there without hesitation.

George

To Gary, thankyou for your reply it has put our minds at rest. We are really looking forward to a great holiday. [ only 10 days to go!!!! ]

Gary C

2 bed apts. Entrance door goes into kitchen/diner, and bathroom and bedroom doors are off from this. Dont worry as all bedrooms have doors and also sliding doors onto big balcony

George

Hi has anyone stayed in the 2 bedroomed apartments? Can you explain to me the outlay as i have read there isnt a door on the 2nd bedroom, and this is a little concerning as we are going with mates and need privacy!!!!

Peter M

Sarah..thanks for replying..hope to see you there!

Belinda

Quit talking like a Rasterman and spell properly. What is it with you kids? Do you write like that on your SAT papers? Sorry but it's real pethate of mine, that, and definitely spelt incorrectly.

Rachel B

Emma H

Just come back from Alykanas and dont have a bad thing to say about it! Brilliant time lots of things to do. If any young girls are going i would definately keep away from the little bar man he's really freaky! But nothing really bad 2 say bout it really lovely pools 3rd pool is the warmest! Oh and dont leave your towels lying around before 9 they get taken of the sun beds!

Sarah

To Peter again, i would definately buy some plug in mosquito killers for your studio/apartment,[ Lloyds chemist or Boots are the cheapest ]we didnt the first time there and they attacked me a couple of times. Oh and if your little one likes Mc Donalds there is one in Tsilivi, which is about 10 mins in a taxi, the beach is lovely 2.

Sarah

Thankyou to everyone that replied to my last question. We didnt think it could of changed that much in a year.[Hence, why we booked to go back!!] To Peter, we went with our 3 children 5,9 and 12yrs and the Greedy Greek catered for them very well, although the food was basic that is what they wanted and they finished their meal cos they got a free icecream after!! We felt very relaxed in the resturant [ the free wine helped!] and there was a play area for them aswell. You`ll prob see us on the 9th, we are the 4 lilly white saddo`s by the volley pool and will be like lobsters in the bar by 6pm!!!!

Peter M

Hi there....my wife and I are staying at the Alykanas Beach Village from the 9th to 23rd September with our 4 year old son, James. Would be pleased to hear from anybody else staying there at the same time. As a Greek Islands 'virgin', if anybody could give me some up to date information/recomendations about the hotel or resort, I would be very grateful. Also, are there any particularly good restaurants for children? You can e-mail me direct at:

peter-mcevoy@lineone.net

Many thanks !!

Mary

We stayed there 1st to 15th july and could not fault it it was excellent.

Richard M

sarah these people must not have been to same place that we went to,the pool are very clean & the maid service excellent, can't really say a bad word about the place.

Simon G

Reply to Sarah. The shop on site had just opened while we were there (14th-28th July) but you will find most items cheaper in the town. We went in the pools, no problem. However, maybe we were lucky but didn't see anyone else with footwear on. Finally, the maid on our block was lovely (Anna). They missed one change of towels but it's not the end of the world. If you want perfection forget it ,it doesn't exist. We loved it and are going to book again.

Gary C

We are going there next week, so can only suggest you read the reports on www.Holidaysuncovered.co.uk or Holidaytruths.co.uk as
there is not a bad report amongst them, with most people stating that its the best accomodation that they have stayed in.
What site was the bad report you saw on?

Sarah

I have just read a comment on a different site from a family that have just arrived home after 2 weeks at the Alykanas beach village, they were not happy at all and wrote that the shop is no longer open, you should wear shoes in the pools or you will cut your feet and the cleaners are rubbish and never change or make the beds!!! Can you please let me know if this is true? [they went 7th july 2004] As we are going on the 9th september. Thanks.

20 euros for the safety deposit box (per week) and i think it was 8 euros per day or 50 euros per week for the air conditioning.

Gary C

Holidaying at Beach Village in 1wks time!
Does anyone know how much air con & safety dep/box is per wk.

just returned from a week at the beach village.....absolutely great place. having visited many greek islands and suffered in some appalling accomodation in the past, these were A1, best we have ever had. the rooms are clean and modern, hotel's grounds are immaculate, the pools superb, everything and more you could want in greece.nice and quiet at nights, great location, fabulouys beach position ( be aware there is a 3.50 euro each person a day charge for the beach sunbeds, only complaint) . absolutely loved it. spent most nights in the taverna's and in a bar called jesters, a lovely bar owned by a girl called jane from essex! will definately return. would highly reccommend this resort and hotel for people looking to get away from it all for a week and also perfect for families of all ages.

JUST BACK FROM ALYKANAS BEACH VILLAGE ON 8/7/04 AND WE LOVED IT,SO MUCH THAT ON THE 9/7/04 WE BOOKED AGAIN FOR NEXT YEAR.GREAT BEACH,VERY CLEAN HOTEL AND VERY FRIENDLY STAFF.ONE OF THE BEST HOLIDAYS WE HAVE HAD.VERY LITTLE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT EXCEPT PERHAPS THE CHARGES FOR THE AIRCONDITIONING ARE EXCESSIVE,BUT ALL IN ALL A GREAT HOLIDAY.

Jane L

Waves? well we found that when it was very windy there were big waves, when there was no wind there were small waves. It's not very windy here as Greece goes, for good winds you want to be on the east coast of the islands near Turkey, such as Kos.

Darren O

This is our 4th visit to Alykanas but never been on a cruise round island yet.Did it stop off places, and was food included. Mnay Thanks...

Steve T

We spent a week for june 13th this year and I think that this is a great place to have a relaxing holiday. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with our 2 20+ year old children. The rooms were clean and spotless. The cleaners came in every day to clean and make the beds. The 2 pools (1 children paddling) were exceedingly clean. It was one of our most relaxing breaks. Most nights we walked along the beach to Alakes which took about 10-15 mins. The Cheers bar was one of the places we enjoyed for drinks and the best restaurent we found was denni s just along the road, great friend staff here. Try theday long around Zakynthos cruise with Mamfredas Tours excelent valueat 17 euros

Excellent Hotel. very clean. Pool is brilliant but be careful with the kids as some of the tiles can cut the kids feet.Rooms are very clean and we had no missing doors in our appartment. If you are comming on holiday here you will enjoy your stay. Ps beware of the earth tremors although you do get used to them.
As for car hire, anywhere in the town are all a good price. We hired a car for 35 euros for the day. The island is lovely to drive around.
There is also an excellent fruit shop on the same side as the Dionisos resturant(the main stretch of road on your right). The Oranges there are the best we have ever tasted. Prices are very cheap too.
The horse and cart rides are brilliant. You just walk out of the Hotel and you can get on one for free (if you eat at that resturant). Most have kids play areas and all of the resturants are nice to eat in.
Great Holiday, Great Hotel.

Brittany G

hi katie thanks 4 ur reply. it would be gr8 2 meet up sometime. my e-mail address is sgys10548@blueyonder.co.uk. thanks.

Hi Brittany, I am Katie.
I am going on the 15th of july. I like football, animals and playing music. And I just love swimming - anything sporty really. I am 11 years old. Maybe we could meet up? Say 5:00 near the pool. E-mail me back.

J P

Although it is described as a 2 bedroom apartment, the second bedroom is in fact what would be the living area off the kitchen, made into a twin bedroom, hence no door.

Derrick&karen F

karen & i stayed there last year 2003, & we are going back out there in the middle of june this year 2004. i would just like to no if anybody has hired a car in alykanas or near there & what they thought about it.

Sarah W

Hi, we are staying at the Alykanas Beach Village in september. We have booked a 2 bedroomed apartment that sleeps 4, but have just received the confirmation details which says the 2nd bedroom has no door on it!!! Can anyone explain the layout of these apartments? We are alittle concerned!!

Ian S

The travellers cheque question is allways tricky. There are pros and cons with each. We have been travelling to greece since the euro came and prefer sterling, because you can get a better exchange rate in greece (pounds to euro). Also when you return to the UK just pay them into your bank account and you dont loose anything. In greece most banks and shops will charge comission to exchange euro cheques.

David

THERE IS AT LEAST ONE IN ALYKANAS AT THE SUPERMARKET OPPOSITE THE "GREEDY GREEK" RESTAURANT. I THINK THERE ARE 2 IN ALYKES.

Simon G

Could anyone please tell me if there is a cash machine and if so where the nearest one is.

Jan C

Donna W

Hi Everyone
We went to Alykanas Beach Village last year and it was such a brilliant place we are going again in 3 weeks time we all cannot wait.Does anyone know of any diving centres nearby

J D

hello..for anyone taking young kids here, let me give you some handy hints to amuse the little critters! we did it last year with a 3yr old. stayed at alykanas beach village for it's proximity to the beach.
accom and location both excellent. but we ended up hiring car for a week as i know the rest of the island like the back of my hand, and it is perfect size to explore with little'uns. never far from a sandy beach.

palm bar...we found this in nearby alykes. the horse and carriage that stops outside these apartments will get you there in ten mins. the bar was a welcome find. it has large grassy area out front with few tables/chairs, but is not packed this time of year. the grassy area has little tikes playhouses/slides etc.....stayed here many an evening.

tsilivi (ten min drive away)...moby d**k bar on the beach is open all day and late into evening. perfect setting on beach and with a largish play area.

argassi...as you approach resort there is big indoor soft play area here and animals etc for looking at purposes. good if weather less than brilliant.

alykes...either get horse and cariage or walk along the beach from these apartments. it is a nice stroll in the evening and there is a crazy golf site there.

porto zorro...perfect kiddies beach. natural rock formation provided bath like swimming pool at end of beach. safe and sandy with good taverna on beach.

gerakas...the best beach maybe. backed by cliffs. pure sand and a nice car ride to get there.

dafni...idyllic quiet sandy beach with taverna. bit harum scarum driving to it. down steep incline, but worth it.

gyri...step back in time and find this inland village. the place is untouched by tourism. they have the occasional little yoghurt and honey cafe place? they will treat you like long lost family, just for making the trip. safe for kids to amble around.

have a great time all of you. hope you love it as much as we do. the airport is small, but we have never felt completely traumatised there! get there, check in and find a spot to plonk down. do not move away, unless in shifts and just plan your return visit.

Carly S

hiya rachael

Steve D

For Richard,
sorry I have taken so long to answer, we have not tried cots at the village, our kids are now too old, we have used them on other islands and other accomadation and they were basically a play pen type but were good enough.....steve

Mary I

i am going with my 3 brothers and my mum and dad on 1st july my name is rosa

Richard O

Thanks Steve,

I used the website which was great, maybe you can answer another question, I noticed what you also said re: pushchairs on hire, we are taking our own but were a little worried about the quality of cots after what you said, have you any experience of using one of their own cots?

Many thanks

Steve D

Just a quick note to anyone thinking of hiring a pushchair, DON'T, speaking from experience when our 2 maclaren pushchairs didn't arrive with the other baggage last year it took 2 days to hire another 2, a deposit of over £100 for 2 buggies you would throw away at home i.e. falling to bits, non swivel wheels and no sun canopies, the same day we hired them ours turned up , we did get the deposit back though, if you can bring your own with you

Steve D

Richard, yes there is an ice compartment in the fridges, the web site for the complex is www.alyknasvillage.gr and the phone number and a guided tour are on the web site, we are going for the 3rd year in a row and we think it is brilliant

Richard O

We are going to the Alikanas beach village in May and are taking an 11 month old baby can anyone tell me who has stayed here before whether the fridges have a freezer compartment with them, or if anyone has any contact details for the hotel ie a web site address or email address.

The one listed previously by another person is for a different complex.

Lindon C

hi rebecca

im lindon and i used to be the rep here just to let you know you can hire pushchairs through the rep they cost roughly 20e per week hope this helps

enjoy your holiday

lindon

Rebecca G

Hi, we will be staying at the Alykanas Beach Village at the end of May for 2 weeks and have 2 little boys, aged 4 and nearly 3. Can anyone recommend any child friendly places to visit/eat around the resort/island. Also, does anyone know if there's any chance of hiring a pushchair from the rep/apartments? (rather not take it unless we have to!). Thank you.

Anthony M

We are on the verge of booking to go in late May 2004 with a 1yr old do the hotel provide cots?

Caroline G

Hi everybody
I'm Cazzz and I am 13. I'm going to Alykanas beach village with my mate, Becky in the summer holidays (21 July to the 4th august)I was wondering if anyone my age (boy or girl) is going there at that time. Please reply, then we can meet up when we get there

;-)

Hayz G

hi. went here last october and was ace. reall miss it. loads of families and teens, as well. it was really fun, too.

Dan

The Alykanas Beach Village was excellent and the accomadation was fantastic, you would think you were in a 4 star hotel in the UK. The rooms are far from typically greek which is great.

There were problems though, and I am only voicing my opinion. Yes, there were rubbish bags (we went in Augus 2003, review a bit late!) and down by the stairs from the apartment blocks. One block is very narrow and contain the waste from the bathrooms! Your legs will probably have to brush past them. I am not fussy but that is slightly poor.

The comlex also lacked homliness. The cleaners were very friendly but there were some members of staff who were not so friendly!

One of the pools (the centre one) looked very dirty and was actually closed down on one day! I would recommend using the one by the beach which was also very good.

Overall though, this was an excellent holiday. We have only been to Greece and this was the best acommadation we have been to, with only a few complaints. If you are going here though, don't be put of, it's just, in my opinion lacks friendliness a little and is not homely.

Stuart M

for liz smith-we live in barrhead but fly from edinburgh!

Liz S

FAO Stuart McDonald, Thanks for your reply, we arrive Sunday 27/6/04, I think Nathan would be pleased to strike up a friendship with your daughters, are you travelling from Scotland? Just wondering with your name, we are travelling from Glasgow, once again thanks for your reply have a great weekend Liz

Chris C

LOL just came back to view this site after a long time and see I am still be talked about because of my honest review. OK its not the best hotel in the world but you will have a great holiday.

What I was trying to point out in my original posting was the pit falls of this hotel and there are some. Ok I agree by Greek standards it rates highly but compared to other places it fails. But come on its Zante and things are a little below par compare to other palces and that is reflected in the price. I read the sun bed problem has been sorted out and so has the rubbish towards the right of the hotel which can only be a good thing. The bigest thing I could advise to people who have not been before is to eat local and dont get tempted by places like the greedy greek which offer home delites.

Yes ?I agree while on holday why eat what you would eat at home but you do get tempted and I promise you that it will not 10% of what you exspect.

OK I am gone from this website now and anyone gong I wish you a great holiday, I am sure the greeks will have you dancing till the early hours and drinking the local drinks (which is great by the way) so a great holiday for people who want to sit around the pool 24 /7 but maybe a little less if you like met the locals. They are there but you will have to go out and find them.

Stuart M

To Liz Smith
We will be spending a fortnight at the Beach Village from 24th June. We have two daughters, Kirsty,6 and Catriona,3. We were there last year and our kids had a great time at the pool and down on the beach, maybe our kids will strike up a friendship?

Liz S

Hi, I have booked a 2 week holiday at the Alykanas Beach Village for end of June 2004, I have a 6 year old son Nathan and was wondering if anyone else with kids the same age where travelling at the same time. It would be great for Nathan to have kids the same age to spend some time with, I am so looking forward to our holiday and going by the comments on the board, I have made a good choice, look forward to meeting you all in the summer, warmest regards Liz

M F

stayed here in may 2003 was very nice, clean and good location, best to go out at night as enternainment average, staff very nice, rooms very spacious and clean.

Alan G

Clean, well equipped apartments. 4****.
Microwave, toaster and bathtub! Thought I would never see these in Greek self catering. But the Alykanas Beach Village has them all. Very new and modern rooms. Three pools, excellent staff (24 hour service). On site mini market. Beach (although small) is only 20 meters away! Alykanas and Alykes close by. Alykes can be walked to by the roads or beach (but take a torch!!). Beach is only 10 mins walk to Alykes and more romantic! If you use the roads there doesn't seem to be street lights and cars and moped zoom back and forth so be careful!! Or you can use the horse and carriages. Some give you free ride to their restaurant and others are just taxis (very expensive!)
Ideal for young families and couples. Resorts are quiet and relaxing. Ideal for you to unwind. resort tavernas and shops tend to close up towards the end of the season but the beach village offers daily entertainment.
Best place I have stayed in for ages!!

Cascara says hi to all and that she misses it!!
