My family and I holidayed at the Zante Star 12th - 26th August 2003 - 5 of our holiday days overlapping with Emma Abela. I was never aware of Yannis being rude to, or about children, but he did have to ask some children not to run in and out of the lounge area - which made the floor wet and slipper, a danger for all concerned. Also he would not let children play pool and have their drinks on the edge of the table, a standard request to adults in most British Pubs, and also he would not let anyone with wet clothes sit on the furniture, the reason speaks for itself.
Anthony Skorczewski - a 13 year old lad - posted his comments on this site stating that it was brilliant, he too was there at the same time as us.
A foot note would be to notice that if you read the comments by Jana Bedford (the blue option to "read all comments by ***"), Jo Warrender's comments appear amoungst Jana's. It would appear that they are either one in the same person, or they have registered the same details and shared an e-mail address.
My family and I stayed at the Zante Star between 12th & 26th August 2003 - our holiday times over-lapped with Emma Abela, and we were all there at the same time for a few days. I was never aware of Yannis being rude to children, but he would ask then not to sit on the settees with wet clothes, have drinks on the pool table, or run in and out of the lounge area making the floor wet and slippy. These were common sense points raised by him, and surely important for the safety and comfort of other guests.
Anthony Skorczewski posted his comments on the site, and thought the hotel was brilliant, and he was 13 years old... Need i say more.
LETS ALL IGNORE EMMA. GLAD TO HEAR YOU HAD A WONDERFUL TIME FRANCES. MY CHILDREN LOVED THE PLACE. NO PROBLEMS FROM ANYONE AT ALL. NOISY, ENERGETIC, NO PROBLEMS AND THAT WAS THE ADULTS. GOING AGAIN THIS YEAR. CAN'T BE BAD CAN IT. TO ANYONE THINKING OF GOING ALL THE POSITIVE COMMENTS OUT-WEIGH THE FEW SILLY COMMENTS.SO GO AND HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME.
I and my sister-in-law have just returned from our stay at the Zante Star, it was the third time i've been to the island.Mr Yannis, Tracy and all the staff made us very welcome. The rooms were spotlessly clean, as were the lounge, pool and surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and hope to visit again next year.
Yes you can change travellers cheques at the Zante Star. It depends where you go for a meal to how much it can cost. Different restaurant you go to but they are all quite reasonably priced.
Oh and by the way Emma if you did read all the comments and there are a lot of them you will find that you and Jana Bedford are in the minority, so everyone else cant be wrong and if you want an end to it all PLEASE STOP PUTTING ALL YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON THIS SITE, as you are the only person going on about it.
i need to know whether i will need to take travellers cheques or not- obvoiusly iwill take some euros but i wondered if they xchanged travellers cheques in the zante star- i have heard cashpoints not too good also any idea average price of a meal and price of wine etc so i can work out how ,uch to take for 2 weeks- 2 adults 3 small children
Why is it that when people have a negative comment about this hotel they are all so keen to jump on your back and call you a suppossed liar???? I read through all these comments and the same thing happened to somebody called Jana Bedford. I DO NOT CONTRADICT, I JUST SPEAK MY MIND AND THE TRUTH. If I want to diss this crap holiday then so I will, my entitlement. LET THIS BE THE END OF IT. By the way Phoebe, when did you go and did you have your small children with you???????????
YES WE ALL HAVE OPINIONS AS YOU'VE SAID BEFORE. THIS PAGE IS FOR PEOPLE TO READ WHAT OTHERS HAVE TO SAY. YOU DON'T HAVE TO KEEP CONTRADICTING WHAT PEOPLE SAY. NO WONDER YOU HAD PROBLEMS IF YOU KEEP OVERREACTING TO WHAT ANYONE SAYS. THIS ALL HAPPENED A WHILE AGO I PRESUME, CHECK OUT OTHER SITES AND HAVE A MOAN LEAVE ZANTE STAR ALONE. THERES MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL PLACE, BEAUTIFUL COUPLE, GO SEE FOR YOURSELF DON'T LET PEOPLE PUT YOU OFF SUCH A WELCOMING AND ENJOYABLE PLACE. YOU'LL WANT TO KEEP GOING BACK.
For the record, We did not complain about the rooms. We know full well that greek accomodation is pretty basic. Secondly, my Dad is a Greek Cypriot. Yes, my children are not angels 100% of the time but are well mannered and mostly well behaved. As I have said before, this is my opinion regardless of what other peoples opinions are. Whatever happened to freedom of speech??? This is a site to get peoples opinions be them good or bad.
PEOPLE FORGET TO REALISE THAT WHEN THEY GO TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY, PERSONALITIES AND THE WAY WE ACT ARE DIFFERENT. EVERY CULTURE VARIES, AS I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN MANY WAYS. I HAVE CHILDREN MYSELF AND KNOW THAT THEY CAN BE AN HANDFFUL AT TIMES AND DESTRUCTIVE. WHAT WE MUST REMEMBER IS WHEN WE GO TO ANY HOTEL,ETC WE ARE GOING TO SOMEONES HOME. THEY WORK EXTREMELY HARD TO GET TO WHERE THEY ARE NOW, AND MUST RESPECT THE FACT THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TO STAY THERE AFTER WE'VE LEFT. THE BROCHURE ALWAYS STATES WHAT YOU GET IN YOUR ROOMS, SO WHY COMPLAIN WHEN YOU GET THERE. LETS ALL BE HONEST AND ADMIT OUR CHILDREN ARE NO ANGELS. IF YOU WANT FIVE STAR ACCOMADATION. STAY IN A FIVE STAR HOTEL. GREEK PEOPLE ARE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE IF WE MAKE THE EFFORT TO LEARN A FEW PHRASES AND EXPERIENCE SOME OF THEIR CULTURE. LETS NOT BE CLASSED AS THE MOANING, BEER SWILLING, ROWDY, RUDE,BRITS.
Maria, I am pleased Yannis was the perfect host for you. The comments I made about him are not totally untrue. We each have our own experiences and opinions on the holidays which we take and my family had a terrible time with him. My problems with him were fully taken on board by Olympic Holidays and most likely relaid back to him. Due to negative feedback from several people about him I can only think he has sorted out his attitude for this holiday season. Our apartment never had a kettle last August nor did several others so this must be a new thing. My family and myself keep ourselves to ourselves and never make a fuss about anything but our time in this hotel was a really crap time. This site is for people to leave feedback be it either negative or positive and I am fully entitled to make such a comment as the fact of the matter is that he was a very rude arrogant host to us, my children, and other families with children. I heard him say certain comments about children during our stay which is why Olympic holidays have had a formal complaint made against the owner of this hotel. I am not willing to enter any kind of slanging match as it is totally pointless. I am just glad you enjoyed your stay.
Just arrived back from 2 wonderful weeks staying at the Zante Star.
The apartments are fully equipped with everthing you need for a self catering holiday, and that includes a kettle.
The appartments are lovely, very clean and bright and they are cleaned everyday and towels are changed every couple of days.
The pool area is fab and loads of sunbeds so no fighting for them. The pool is cleaned everyday.
Tracy and Yannis provide evening entertainment which includes a Greek night and barbecue, a race night and quiz nights. All of which are good fun and a really good laugh.
It is such a lovely hotel and Tracy and Yannis are brilliant hosts, and I would just like to say that the comments made about Yannis are totally untrue. He is great with kids, my little boy who is 4 ran around all day and made lots of noise and Yannis didnt mind a bit, and both he and Tracy are very welcoming and are very nice people who like to look after their guests and make them feel at home.
Anyone thinking of staying at the Zante Star, do not hesitate. You will not be disappointed. It was the best holiday we have had and we will be back. Thanks Tracy and Yannis it was great.
Christel, There is a frying pan. Don't get me wrong, kitchen equipment is ok. No kettle or toaster and no t.v or radio. I took my own radio. With regard to towels, you will need to take your own towels for the beach, pool etc. as the towels arent allowed to be taken out the room.
Hi Christel,
There is no kettle or toaster. There wasn't in my apartment anyway. There are various pans to boil up water.
Emma
We are going to the Zante Star Aparthotel in a few days time, please could someone advise me , will we need to take our own towels and is there really only 1 pan ? No frying pan ? Not that I plan to cook anything more than a breakfast, also is there a kettle ? Could someone please reply rather quickly as we travel on the 16th !!!!
Hi
Thanks for the reply
Was just wondering about a toaster or kettle, I am asking to much for a self catering apartment in zante??
What about a tv or radio?
Thanks
Thanks for the reply, was just wondering about a kettle or toaster, is there just one saucepan what about frying pan??? Am I asking to much for a self catering apartment in zante, its only that one person I am travelling with is planning on doing most of her eating in the apartment, Thanks, what about anything such as a radio or tv?
Hi Christel, there are 2 cooking rings just outside the bathroom door and a fridge. There are plenty of plates, knives and forks, glasses etc. and also a saucepan for boiling up water.
Hope this helps.
Just wondering if anyone can let me know what kitchen applicances there is in the kitchenette, please let me know asap as travelling to this apartment very soon, Thanks
My family and I stayed at the Zante Star from August 4 - 17th 2003. The hotel is a nice enough hotel with exeception to the owner Yannis. He has a major dislike of children and is a very very rude man. My children are excellently behaved but he thrived on telling children off (anybodys children). He made us fell totally unwelcome. It was like being at boot camp. If you don't have children then you will have a great stay. Beware if you have small children. There are 20 odd steep stairs up to the reception area which is a complete inconvienience when you have a pushchair. Also, our room was at the back of the hotel where we had to put up with bloody cockerells cock-a-doodling from 3am onwards!!!! Rooms are very small and stuffy and can hardly be classed as apartments. All my grieviences were taken on board by the Olympic rep and I have raised all my complaints with Olympic Holidays themselves. A totally crap holiday which has put me off Greece for life. p.s. Have only just found this site hence the late report.
Have recently had contact from Yannis & Tracy. They still have air-con in bar area only at the moment.
Does anyone know if air conditioning has been installed yet? Thanks
Hi, we stayed here in October, for 2 weeks, it was our honeymoon, and my first holiday abroad.
The hotel was absolutely fantastic, it was spotless clean, the staff were lovely and friendly. Tracy and Yanni are really lovely people. The atmosphere there was brilliant.
Their dogs Zak and Louis were funny to watch, really cute and cuddly.
I would recommend this place to anyone thinking of going to Tsilivi. And we hope to go back again next year.
I WANNTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE CAN GIVE MORE INFORMATION AS TO WHAT THE ONE BEDROOM APARTMENTS ARE LIKE. WHAT THE AREA IS LIKE FROM THE ZANTE STAR. IS IT ALL UP HILL FROM THE TOWN. ANY OTHER INFORMATION WOULD BE GREATFULLY APPRECIATED. WE ARE DUE TO HOLIDAY THERE JUNE 04. WHERE UPON WE WILL BE GETTING MARRIED. AS ANYONE GOT ANY INFORMATION ABOUT GETTING MARRIED IN TSILIVI TOWN HALL. OR ANY PICS RELATING TO ANY OF THESE SUBJECTS. THANKYOU.
Well done GB, for your recent comments.
We have booked to go back to the Zante Star in August 2004, and you will thoroughly enjoy it - if I remember correctly a couple are planning to marry there in 2004, so it can't be that bad, can it.
Jana, Jo, hope you have a better holiday next year, let us know where you are off to, and we will be able to see your review on the relevant web pages - perhaps it would be better for you to hire a private villa, and then no one can upset you, and you will upset no one, winners all round!!!!
I have booked to go to the Zante Star at the end of June 04 with a party of 6 and from the tons of excellent reviews - WE CAN'T WAIT.
I would ignore the only 1! person moaning and would say grow up. Sounds like the 2nd person who claims to have met them there must be a friend who went with them as I for one could not believe them. Get over it and stop ruining it for the rest of us.
Happy holidays to those who are going to the Zante Star. It sounds great!
message for michelle grose email adress is hotelzantestar@acn.gr
regards
many thanks for tracey pearces comments- can anyone advise me how i get zante stars email address? i would also like to try and book the big aprt as prev described!!!
my wife and i have just returned from a weeks holiday the zante star 7/10/03 - 14/10/03 this was our second time this year and all i can say it was faultless. Tracey and Yanni were yet again the perfect hosts and we are already plotting our visit next year. one thing i would recommend if you fancy spoiling yourself for a holiday book the big apartment overlooking the pool (book through tracey and yanni) it is fantastic. any new people reading these postings on this site PLEASE PLEASE DISREGARD the comments posted on 20th september we can guarantee a fantastic holiday.
Just got back from a week's holiday (6-11/10/2003) at the Zante Star.
The whole setup is brilliant! The apartments are spotlessly clean and the bedding and towels were changed regularly. The pool area is excellent with a nice mix of sunny and shady areas depending on your mood.
The bar is very spacious with Sky television on a large screen and a decent pool table (could do with a new set of balls though!).
The events were a pool competition and a "games" night (quiz and race game) which were well attended. The Greek night on Saturday was cancelled since there was the little matter of a football match taking place (Turkey vs England).
There are 2 cute dogs called Louis and Zak (Zak is just a puppy) - they are generally very placid but watch out for your shoelaces!
All the staff have a great attitude and if we ever go back to Tsilivi we would not consider stopping anywhere else.
Many thanks to Yanni and Tracy for a great place to stay.
PS Irina the barmaid is gorgeous and has a great sense of humour.
We ahve just returned from a lovely week at the Zante Star. Tracey, Yannis and Irena were fantastic. Louis and the new addition Zak were adorable. I would definately recommend these apartments to anyone.....even the sound of the chickens you got used to in the end !!!
In reply to Michelle Grose's question about air-conditioning, we were there in August, and Tracy and Yannis were still discussing it then.
It may be an idea to get their e-mail address and ask them, possibly after closed season when they will have more information for you.
we (my husband and my 3 chidren age 6 4 1 are going to the zante star on 13 june04 - does anyone know if air conditioning will be installed by then?
My family and I have just returned from our second visit to the Zante Star. We were there for 2 weeks last August and for 1 week September 23-30th this year.I am absolutely gobsmacked at the comments made by Jana Bedford and I agree with Tracey Pearce and Roy Logan. I have two children aged 11 and 6 who are also boisterous and Tracy and Yannis are perfect hosts, I simply cannot believe that Yannis would make such a comment about not wanting children around. As for Louis biting anyone - well thats just rubbish. I've never encountered such a mild mannered, people friendly, clean dog.
I think that anyone who is considering going to the Zante Star Hotel for a holiday should take the comments made by Jana Bedford with a pinch of salt and look at the positive remarks made by other guests. Let's face it we can't all be wrong can we!!!
Tracy and Yannis have our full support and I know how upset they would have been when they read the negative comments raised by Jana Bedford.
Keep up the good work Tracy and Yannis we'll be back to see you next year. Your hotel is a credit to you and quite frankly we've never stayed anywhere like it.
with regards to the comments on 20th september all i can say is maybe they should have stayed at home. You will not find 2 better hosts than tracey and yannis and my wife and myself cannot wait until next week when we go back for second time this week
having stayed at the zante star i find the comments made on the 20 september very unfair, for a start any self respecting parent taking 8 children on holiday would do some research on were to take them ie.kids amenities,if care to read the brochure most relivant information is there, and any self respecting owner has also the rest of his guest to consider,on holiday or not children are your responsability and there action reflect on you. if your towels are left a courtious word can put the problem right, not waiting to come home and gripe,on a greek night it helps to get into the spirit of things. louis is the friendliest and cleanest dog on the island as tracy not(medusa)baths him regularly.had you cared to notice the fans roughly the same price in most of greece, and you must have failed to notice that they have air conditioning in the reception and bar area. YANNIS and TRACY are exceptional hosts not kindergarten cops.
ps comments on 29september the ZANTE STAR sits on a quiet lane ten to fifteen minutes out of tsilivi over looking tsilivi not at the back of paradise bar
Message for MARIA BROWN: I have been to Tsilivi but haven't stayed at the Zante Star. However, my Aunty has and she said it is opposite the Paradise bar behind a reataurant. Hope this is useful x
I would like to respond to the comments by Jana Bedford, with regard to the Zante Star.
We have two small children - 3 and 5 (who are very boisterous) and we stayed at the Zante Star when all rooms were accommodated, by families with children between the ages of 2 and 18, and we never encountered the reactions which Jana describes. Perhaps the children in her party were a little more boisterous than the average child, and if this affected the enjoyment and pleasure of the other guests, then surely Tracy and Yannis had a duty to consider the other guests and act accordingly. There is a no diving notice on the side of the pool, and if this was being ignored, then Yannis and Tracy had a duty to prevent an accident occurring through negligence of the children and their parents.
Tracy and Yannis were great hosts when we stayed, and you must consider the fact that one negaive comment does not reflect the whole picture, and reading the rest of the comments from other guests, this will be apparent.
Hopefully other guests staying at the same time as Jana Bedford will post their comments, and we will all be able to get a truer picture as to what really went on...
We have e-mailed Tracy & Yannis with our full support, and will be staying there next summer.
We will be goint to Tsilivi next year and will be staying at the Zante Star. Can anyone tell me where it is situated. We have been before to Tsilivi but this is a new apartment.
p.s. the day before we went home,we heard yannis say 'i can't wait until next week,no children' i really wouldnt advise it for a family holiday, certainly not for children, unless they sit still and don't make a noise. be careful not to splash in the pool if you do go, you might get thrown out.
well first of all,we come to this site to see exactly what the resort offered us.in total there was 15 of us going to stay at the zante star, 8 of them were ages 8 - 14 wanting to play in the swimming pool etc and just enjoy their holiday.we were told it was ideal for familys and children.what a lie. if you smiled you were shot. the kids were shouted at a number of times for doing 'kid things' our towels were left for 3 to 4 days at a time without being changed.the bottles of drink are 4 euros each!the food is expencive and the greek night is absolutely rubbish,oh yeah, and the dog bit my mum and bruised her arms, and it has fleas.the fans were 25 euros for the two weeks, and there was no air conditioning.yanis was ok,but watch out for medusa (tracy)she never had a smile on her face, not once.
We stayed in room 215 from the 17th to the 31st of august. The apartments are quite small, but it began to feel like home (for me). BEWARE - the kitchen area is miniscaule, you have liturally 2cooking rings and a fridge. You'd be better to eat at the pool bar , until it closes at 5.30pm or go out for meals. Otherwise it is a bit of a palarva. Nice views, beach good. Alex's supermarket - 2 mins away , to the right when you exit the hotel. Good restaurants are:
'DEMARAS' to the left when you exit to the hotel, very nice food and brilliant hosts. A greek family run it , they are all polite and there is a very nice atmosphere. The ' Olive Tree' is a good restaurant in the middle of town - good food - but packed, we had to wait for a table. Also DINO'S is a good terverna. The Zante star was very nice, fantastic quiz and fashion show night . Grrek night quite good. Yannis and Tracey are helpful and the place is kept spotless by the maid service. The downside the holiday was not the aparthotel, but the actual resort - TSILIVI , we thought it wasn't that nice, busy and loud especially and night.
So, go to the above restaurants, go to the beach, go on the trip around the island. Make the most of it.
We had a good time!
P.S The airport is pretty bad, although on the way back to the u.k, is pretty fast after your long wait to actually step in the airport.
I would recommend the apparthotel, because it is a place you will be happy at rather than some other places.
Thank you Tracey & Yannis for such an excellent holiday (10th-24th Aug).
View over Tsilivi superb, quiet location but centre of resort only 10mins walk away, recommend Popeyes restaurant - worth the queue.
Rooms clean and good service, all staff friendly & helpful.Food lovely - especially Lia's vanilla shakes, Greek salads & pasticcio.
Hotel organises Greek night, BBQ, quiz, fashion show - all great fun.
Louis the dog (such a character!) & Billie the cat made our stay perfect.
Can't wait to return.
The Jones Family Room 201
We stopped at the Zante Star 12th August to 28th August - same as Anthony above.
We had an excellent time - Tracey and Yannis make you feel so at home that you easily forget you are on holiday.
We were in room 117 - next to Anthony and his parents, and found that even though this is on the ground floor close to the steps to the upper floors, it was very quiet.
BEWARE of the green shutters - they are so efficient we forgot to wake up sometimes as they block the light so well.
We hired a car and went out but there is no need as the sea, shops, bars and restaurants are all within a 5 - 10 minute walk.
Thank you Tracey and Yannis (and Loius) we will definately be back next year.
Tracey Steve, Aaran & Drew.
we stayed at the zante star on the 12-26 of august. we thought it was excellent, tracy and yanni are great and friendly. louis the dog is very friendly. it is about a 10-15 min walk to the town. every one tries to get you into their resarant. i liked popeyes, we went their about 5 times. it is about 5 mins to the beach. the bar is nice and air conditioned but the rooms arnt, air con is being put in next year. the pool is very big. the sea is great first it is shallow then it goes a bit deeper then it goes very shallow up to my knees and i am 13 years old. IT WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We stayed at the Zante Star for the last 2 weeks of July, rooms 112 & 114. Apartments are excellent, staff are really professional and freindly, cleaning excellent. Tracey and Yannis runa really good establishment and are really helpful.
Sited just far enough from the 'noisy' areas (10 mins walk) to walk off your eating excesses, supermarket 2 mins away, beach 5 mins, pool excellent and deep (with shallow end for kids), good bar and the air conditioned lounge!!! Only shortfall lack of air conditioning in rooms.
Would definately stay there again.
Has anyone got a picture of Louie the dog as i,m leaving my dog Alfie for two weeks. Connor aged 8.
See you soon
we stayed at zante star from july 8th to 22nd and it was brilliant. the rooms are bright and clean. tracy and yanni are the perfect hosts, and we must not forget louis the dog. we enjoyed it so much that my wife and i are going back on october 7th for a week.
i would recommed these apartments to anyone looking to go to zante.
Please could you be a help! my mum, dad and i are going to the zante star appartments in august ( 17th). We would like to know a few things.
In the appartments do they have ovens, grills? Is there a supermarket or food shop by the zante star? What other facilities and appliances are in the appartment? Has the bug that has been around gone yet? all these questions will really help us! thanks , please reply.
We returned from THE ZANTE STAR a couple of weeks ago, I would have written sooner but unfortunately I have had a stinking cold.
The Hotel is wonderfully new, spotlessly clean and very well run.
Our self catering apartment was superb the best we have ever experienced and we have been traveling to many islands in Greece over the years.
The accommodation is well situated close enough to the main village but far enough for peace and quiet.
The only thing I could wish for is that this holiday complex could be in every holiday destination we are likely to go to in the future.
On the 3rd of july we returnd again to the ZANTE STAR APARTHOTEL our second visit since it opened in 2002,To find that Yannis & Tracy the exceptional hosts had made one or two changes namely the air conditioning in the bar & reception area plus a wonderful greek night & bbq. and a games evening to keep all amused with the help of kelly the olympic rep.The staff are very friendly and professional which all adds up to stress free relaxing holiday, ps missing louises mischeif already, will definitly be back soon.
In answer to your question, yes there are fridges in the rooms however I am unable to tell you where the nearest doctors or hospital is. When you arrive Tracey will be able to tell you, she is English and extremely helpful.
Having read all the comments about Zante Star, we booked to go,the end of July and are all really looking forward to seeing it with our own eyes. But as my young son is diabetic, I need to know if anyone can advise where nearest doctor/hospital is and if there are fridges in the room?
Arrived back 2 weeks ago, had an amazing holiday, we couldnt have picked a nicer appartment. The views were stunning along with a great sized pool. Yannis and Tracey were extremely helpful and very accommodating to us and we enjoyed their company, it made a lovely change to any other places in greece we have stayed at before. The hotel had the best of both worlds as you could have an enjoyable evening there or the centre of Tsilivi was only a short stroll away.Tsilivi is a great resort to visit and we will certainly like to come back again and we would definately recommend the Zante Star to anyone!
Hopefully see you again next year x
Stayed at the Zante Star for 2 weeks (came back yesterday) it was fantastic, hotel is great and all the staff (Yannis, Tracey, Irena, Lia etc) were friendly, helpful and all a great laugh. Louis the dog is the best really great to muck about with. The hotel is extremely clean and tidy, our room (No.222) had the best view and also overlooked the pool. Location is OK, not to far from the beach and also within walking distance from the centre of Tsilivi (approx 10 mins). There is also a Supermarket (Alex's) just at the end of the road about 2 min walk. Would definately recommend the Zante Star and we are definately thinking about going back. No it doesnt have Air Conditioning but you can hire a fan from Reception and that does the job nicely.
came back two weeks ago, the Zante Star aparthotel was great, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful apartements clean and good views.
Be prepared for a long walk to the centre and to the beach worse when the weather is boiling hot.
The nightlife is a bit behind the times but ok.
Would definately stay at the zante star hotel again shame it couldnt of been closer to the beach and bars.
Oh and no - the apartments don't have air con but you can hire a big fan from reception
Hi all
Three of went to the Zante star for 2 weeks at the beginning of June 2003 and it was fantastic. The apartments were the best we've ever had in greece, and as for the complex as a whole it was just gorgeous! Tracey and Yannis are lovely and Louis is such a sweetheart! The pool is the biggest and nicest one we saw on the island and the bar and food was great. I'd reccommend the Greek night - complete with dancing! and the quiz night and pool championship were both good fun. The placement of the zante star was perfect - close enough to town for a nice easy walk but far enough away from the noise of the centre. if you head to the beach go up towards the centre of it - there are a few rocks at the one end which are awkward to get past if you want a swim. The best restaurants we found were La Fiorentino and the olive tree - Fiorentinos was very sweet and quite small - you'll often find a queue but its worth the wait! One fab cocktail bar is called Paradise - the barman are a scream - mario and socrates! Oh and watchout for the blackouts!
Anyway I'd definately recommend the Zante star - in fact i'm hoping to go back next year!
Anyone got any answers to the questions below?
thanks again :o)
Hi all - just a quick question....
Going the the Zante Star end of July, and wondering if the rooms/apts are air conditioned? Because I think its gonna be HOT!!!
Thanks in advance for your reply's.
p.s. Any advice on the best restaurants for couples would be apprecaited too.
I stayed at the Zante Star with my best friend and her parents for 2 weeks from June 1st and the place was gorgeous!! Spotlessly clean and the food from the bar was great and the pool was lovely. There was a couple of nice guys there too (A.B and S.B) :D Good for families and couples!! No problems with Zante Star - it's a great place to stay and Lewis the dog is so cute!
This was my 3rd time in Greece and I have to say that The Zante Star beat the lot of them for friendly staff, cleanseness and the most beautiful views. Although I would recommened that there be more lights on the roads leading to the apartments as they are about a 5-10 min walk from the centre and one walk which I wouldn't like to do all on my own. Would recommened these apartments to anyone!
Ashley Craig. Aprt 215
I spent 2 weeks at Zante Star, it was fantastic. the staff were friendly, helpful & knew how to show the visitors a good night, with the greek night etc. Not to far away from the town and a great view over the village from the balcony. Perfect for families, couples and anyone looking for a picture perfect chilled out holiday! I definitely recommend it and would like to go back in the future. Perfect!
The staff at Hotel Zante Star were great! the greek night was brilliant. The Hotel is situated about 900 metres from the town centre and was just far enough away so not to be disturbed by the other pubs etc. around. The hotel itself was absolutely gorgeous with a very friendly atmosphere. It was certainly worth every penny! Sarah and I would definitely go back!
We loved it!!!!!.Best Apartments we have had in Greece. Clean rooms, clean corridors, big pool, good food and the most important thing of all it was quiet(just what we wanted). We got on really well with Yannis and Tracy the kids loved Louis the dog(watch you're shoe laces). We (the adults)loved it so much we are going back in September for our honeymoon. Photos to follow.
What a good holiday excellant hosts in Tracy,Yanis and Louie.Very clean Hotel and well organised with a fantastic pool area.Beach is only 8 minutes away and warm, blue sea.Everything about the Hotel and area was first class.
The walk to the beach, allowing for the pushing of a pushcahir is a max 10 minutes. The walk to the centre is 15 minutes along a very flat road. Rooms are immaculate with outstanding views. We have an 8 year old son and loved every minute of our stay of 7 days which ended Sun 1.6.03
I am staying at the Zante Star in June with my husband and 3 year old son. Thank you for the first bit of information that I have managed to find on the Appartments so far! I was faintly suspicious that the location was high up and perhaps a little far from town but would this pose a problem with a child and pushchair do you think? Approx. time to reach the nearest beach would be helpful to know and what the rooms themselves are like also.
Much appreciated for your help
The Hotel and Tracey and Yanis fantastic, dog brilliant staff very nice and friendly, however dont book if you have walking difficulties, as Olympic omit this info when booking I made numerous attempts to find location and was told no info available. Not true as Hotel opened last July 2002. My holiday ruined due to 33 steps to gain access to hotel. This should have been published very unfair to send people with difficulties to this wonderful hotel/apts. No fault of Tracey and Yanis they were in agreement with me. Great place but up a slight hill wonderful if you are fit.
we are staying at the zante star aparthotel in june, does anyone know what tsilivi is like preferably for nightlife and especially any comments on the hotel and is it hot?!!!
Just returned from 2 weeks at the Zante Star. First impression was that it was miles out of town. Truth is, it's not that bad and you should soon learn that its preferable to staying in the centre of the village given all the construction going on and the amount of traffic. All the staff are fantastic, as is Louis the dog. Place is spotless and the food is good. Nice big pool, plenty of loungers, bar open until 1:30, decent rooms. Recommend it. Yannis and Tracey are the owners and they are really helpful. Irina the bar maid is a babe.
I have been to Tsilivi before stopping at the Two Brothers side of the town and am coming back to the Zante Star in 2 weeks, where exactly is the Zante Star ?
