I dont understand how people can complain about noise when the hotel is obviously located for a lively holiday, if you want total quiet don go to Laganas at all!
I cant really say what the hotel will be like withouth J & C as it was the staff who helped make the stay what it was.

My husband and i visited earlier this year. we found it to be particularly noisy...not from external noise but from guests staying at the hotel.The staff could not have cared less as these guests had spent their evenings drinking in the hotel bar.

we do not recommend this hotel if you do not like staying up all night drinking

i had such an excellent holiday thanks to the great accomadation, staff and the 'security gaurd YANIS!' thanks to jackie and chris who made it such fun, we have stayed in contact with the girls from bury, manchester and we are even thinking of coming to work out there next season. Yannis is the greatest, me, lyd , hannah and ang took great pleasure in dressing him up with pressies we wud bring back from a night out and im going to try and send some pictures wen i get the chance because we are his greatest fans!

Going back in 2005, for the third time! Lovely place to stay if you want to be in the middle of everything. It's opposite MacDonalds, just down a side turning, with a jewellers on the corner. Can't remember the nearest bar as we haven't been there for a couple of years. (Usually didn't make it out from the hotel bar!)

THIS WAS BY FAR THE BEST HOTEL I HAVE STOPPED IN AND ID RECOMMEND IT 2 ANYONE.
CHRIS AND JACKIE WHO RUN THE HOTEL ARE SO FRIENDLY AND WOULD DO ANYTHIN FOR ANYONE.
I STAYED HERE JUNE LAST YR WITH MY BOYFRIEND,WE MADE FRIENDS THERE,WE ALL ENJOYED SO MUCH,ME AND MY BOYFRIEND STOPPED THERE AGAIN JUL THIS YR AND MET UP WITH OUR FRIEND WE MET LAST YR.WE ALL LOVED IT AS MUCH AS THE FIRST TIME ROUND.

Can anyone tell me where on the main strip this Hotel is. If you can tell us which bar it is neares t it will be a help as we know most of them!

I stayed in this hotel with my boyfriend, my brother, his girlfriend and although my sister and her boyfriend were staying at another hotel, they decided to spend most of their time at the hotel pool with us. The reason for this was that the hotel was clean and inviting with such a friendly atmosphere thanks to Chris and Jackie (the managers) who will probably do anything for you! The rooms were cleaned daily to a very high standard - actually, there is no bad word to say about this hotel! If you feel a bit put off by the fact that the hotel is right on the main strip in Lagana- don't be, as the hotel is a real chilled out place to stay, even at night. Had an excellent holiday!!

me and my boyfriend have just returned from a weeks holiday in the gioie de mare, we booked a late deal so didnt know what to expect but couldnt have hoped for a better hotel. chris and jax are the nicest people you could ever hope to meet and really made our holiday special. Our room was right on the front so was a bit loud at night but i took earplugs so didnt bother me. i would go back in a second if i could afford it!!

my friend and i are staying here in June and cant find any pictures on the net......does anyone know where i can find some, cant wait!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Gioie De Mare from 30th June last year (2003) for 2 weeks and had such a fab time! Chris and Jackie were excellent hosts, and lots of fun, if a bit mad, ha ha, and George - top man! The hotel was clean, food was great and it was in an ideal location - couldnt have asked for more! We made lots of friends and we are booked to go back again this year, in July - along with a few of the others who we met out there last year as well... can't wait!! Just hope it'll live up to last year's expectations! :-)

Hey Chris,Jackie and George stayed here from 25th july 03 for 10 nights. The minute we arrived our bags were taken to our hotel room and we were invited to the bar for free cocktails!This hotel was fantastic and the staff were brilliant! We found that 10 nights were not long enough here and we are deffinately going back this year but for 2 weeks! Food was excellent, the full English breakfast- YUM!-especially when your are hung over!!! Deffinately give this hotel 10/10!!!
P.S Chris and Jackie, are you both still there this summer? last year you's were taling about going to kefalonia?

if your going to this hotel your gonna have a great time, chris and jacks are the greatest, not to mention the bar man george who is by far the funniest person there, my friend stacey and i had the best two weeks thereand are already planning to go back,

We are off on our honeymoon on 15 September, and your messages about the hotel are great, I hope we have a good time as you have. Any tips on where to visit would be great!

a totally wicked holiday, i have booked my tickets to go back already, chris and jax his wife are the most friendly two people in the world and i can't wait to go and see them again on the 17th of october, the bar man george that works from 12 until 4 in the afternoon is a total laugh, the rooms are realy nice and the food is out of this world, i put on 2 stone by the time i had got back but i could justify it cos i had an amazing time,thanks chris,jax and george

WE have just returned from our 2 week honeymoon. I have to say it was the best hotel we've ever stopped in. A big thanks goes out to Chris, Jackie and George for making it so good. What more could you ask for, free cocktails, free BBQ'S, clean rooms and brilliant staff. Seemed to be a mixture of all ages, but mainly in couples or groups. We made some good friends and would love to go back.

We have just returned home reluctantly! after a brilliant 10days at the gioie de Mare, felt at home the minute we arrived. Thanks to Chris and Jackie for making our holiday. Can't wait to go back!

This is a charming small hotel, very clean and the staff are wonderful. They work extremely hard to make your holiday fun. Food is always freshly cooked and beautifully presented. Accommodation is more than adequate and the rooms are kept spotlessly clean - the best we've had on Zante. Chris and Jacqui are the greatest - Chris is NOT a ladyboy and Jacqui IS mad! George the barman is great and Tommy the night-porter is mysterious! Don't forget to visit Vasso and Yorgos in Alexander's jewellery shop at the front of the hotel. Lovely people!Can't wait to go back!

I have just returned from a brilliant week in Zante and wanted to make it known that the Gioie de Mare is fab!

Both Chris and Jackie made us feel extremely welcome - Chris is a very handsome man and his partner Jackie is as mad as a brush!!

Highlights have to include getting very drunk in the hotel bar with Jackie, playing twister and then jumping into the pool fully clothed at 6am. I would go back again tomorrow, if I could. Hope to see them again very soon.

chris the bar man is a ladyboy and he knows it!! looks like a lady but in fact he's a chap!! tommy the night porter rules, the only albanian to down a turbo shandy on the holiday. the maidstone boy s legend lives on whos the f**king man!!!

I thought the hotel was excellent and the very clean,the location was brilliant and the staff great. the only problem was the pool was very dirty, but to be fair the had the pool cleaned.

having just read my comments and discovering that the hotel now has a 4 star rating presumingly on what i have said i feel i should say that i think it deserves a higher mark.the location/quietness marks are relative to what each party want from their holiday and the random allocation of the room.we are in our mid 40's and enjoy a mixture of lively and quiet both of which can be found at this resort although quiet reqs a little more effort.

this hotel is a small and friendly type with few facilities. it has a very pleasant swimming pool area with a bar a pool table and they do snack meals to order.our room was basic but clean with a mini fridge(30 euros per/week) and air conditioning(60 euros p/w) which was not req in june.the poolbar is also the focus in the evening providing a friendly atmosphere after the evening out and about.

the hotel is situated on the main street and those rooms facing the street as well as the ones down both sides do suffer from excess noise at night.take some earplugs.however the rear facing rooms and those in the annex also overlooking the pool are fine. the location depends upon what you want from the holiday.the hotel is as close to the action as anyone would want or easy to escape from as the resort has many facets which are not immediately obvious on first impressions.we liked it but were overlooking the pool area .
