Gioie di Mare Hotel

I cana big this hotel up enough  

12 lads from shrewsbury arrived on 11th june for a week and had the best time ever

'GEORGE' is a diamond geezer who let us get away with murder...including shaving two blokes heads when they were ko'd at night...oops!!

This hotel is so layed back and is the perfect place to stay for a young group of people

BUT...the worst part is having to leave...its gutting!

Only just found this site, 7 of us from London/Essex stayed in the Gioie from 25th August until 1st September 2006 & what a week it was. I can see nearly everyone has praised George & 'Stan', I always thought it was 'Stam' personally, but they are both legends!!! Anyone remember Spiros? The Greek manager guy who could not speak a word of English??? My mate asked him if he wanted a fag but Spiros did not have a clue what he was saying so my mate put his hand in his pocket to get his fags out & he only pulled out a condom by mistake... I bet that got Spiros worried!!!

Stan and george are really tidy guys.Hotels basic, but all you need for a crazy week. Lets get naked!

We stayed in the gioie 2 weeks ago it was great!!! we saw those boys from Cambridge breaking the fishbowl record WELL DONE U LOT!! Stan is a legend!! Missing it allready.

14 of us lads have only just got back from a week in lagana and it we loved it. We don't care too much how good any other hotels may be, because George and Stan, the day and night staff, are absolute legends and we couldn't have been more welcome anywhere else. Top geezers, friendly and incredibly tolerant in any situation and don't mind being thrown in the pool but you have to be crafty to get them in
You couldn't get any better location, the hotel is set back from the main strip directly opposite McDonalds and 20 yards from KFC, obviously you won't eat too healthy whilst there
Not as packed as the hotel next door to it as it doesn't have as many rooms, but still plays music loud all day and yet is still relaxed enough to chill out. Air-con in the rooms is absolutely gorgeous!!
Let George play your cd's though or you might get bored of the selection after 2 days
Oh and if you're with freestyle you'll get the chance to beat our record at the barcode bar, the record for downing a huge fishbowl cocktail I think was 1min 49 seconds from 10 lads a few weeks before, but 10 of us killed that time and set a new record of 59 seconds!! So good luck!!

 Went to the Gioie De Mare in July 1999, it was a fantastic place, excellent service and very clean, i have just heard that it has been extended since i last went and it is under new management. I cant wait to go back at the end of august 2006.

Helllo!!!

We had a mint time at the Gioie de Mare, was fanatastic even though we went near the end of October, it was still a blast for us, we were nearly the youngest there during that time.  The only part that was bad was the unexpecting earthquake.  But George handled it very well and thanks to him i am most likely to come back to Laganas at this hotel.

 

Its a good idea with the book to sign before going home, leaving our mad comments. Also people watch out for the dirty doughnut man he jips you!!

Wooo just booked our holiday for 2006 and cannot wait to get out to Zante! heard it's a brill place with good nightlife which is what we're looking 4! Anyone else going at the beginning of August!?

Hey There, we stayed at the Gioie from 8th Aug - 15th Aug, i would def say its the best hotel in Lagana!! The location is great, cant beat being opposite McD's, and next to KFC, Pizza Hut & near Cherry Bay!!  We would def recommend staying here, as its right in the middle of everything and the staff (George - thanks for letting us have the pool parties) are brilliant!!! We had a great holiday, loved Cocktails & Dreams & Cherry Bay, long live the Baywatch theme tune!! We met some fantastic people as well, so here is a quick hello to Pete, Ronnie, Brad, Matty B, Pete Tong, Jim, Dansak, Jay, Neil (Rep), Michelle, Zara, Kelly, Colleen, Gary, Luke, Rob, Akos, Sal, Chris, Ben & Andreous, you were all brilliant, and keep in touch!!!

The Gioie is the best hotel ever we stayed there from 19th Aug - 2nd Sep 2005, did not want to come home. The best place to go in Laganas, but dont waste your time with the brekkie, Chevys does the best full english breakfast. Want to say a big hello to george you are fantastic and your cheese toasties rule. Would love to come back next year.

This has to be the best hotel in Lagana we stayed here first 2weeks in August and i would definately recommend it to anyone! Just wana say hi to George the owner who is great!!! Hopefully we'l be seeing ya next year again as we had the best holiday here, wouldnt stay anywhere else. And we would also like to say hi to Gary and Rob who stayed at the hotel with us, if you 2 ever did find lou's Shoe!!,,You'll have to get in touch, Bedford aint that far away from ya!!!! 

Stayed in the gioie from 1st july to the 15th. Had an absolutely f**king wicked time. George the barman is the biggest legend u'll ever meet (u malaga f**ker), mad props to Stag the other barman too. And 'shush' to the non-english speaking security man (SECURITY!- couldn't even secure his pants).

Got back from laganas yesterday,(29th July) we had the best time ever and are now really depressed  the atmosphere is great and everyone is up for a laugh.

    we  just got back on fri, n i wish i hadn't left. The best holliday so far george the hotel manager is sound a great laugh he kept us amused by the pool all day with his selection on music n his nyts out in rescue wid us. we kept him up some nyts wid our loud antics on the stair well but he was cool about it even tho he got bugger all sleep. only shame the night guard didnt understand any english apart from shhhh! n kept gettim goerge up. everyone by the pool woz gr8 n had a gd time n we met some cool people their only shame the girls few n far between. allthough the ones there were gr8 only wish we'd spoke more to them. this is not a place to bring kids really to the person who asked as u right in the middle of the action prob the lively place to be located. The bars n clubs r allgr8 places to go they got music for most people will enjoy n they love givin u sambuca n ouzo  {i'm sick of the stuff now!} well i hope who ever goes here enjoys  it as much as i did. tell goerge sweeney says ello..p.s anyone who woz their n remembers me don't be affraid to email me @  sn33z3r@hotmail.com  have fun guys lol.

Hi There

There are eight of us going out to Laganas on the 29th July 2005 for 2 weeks, and staying at this particular hotel. We are all over 21 and obviously prepared to be bang on it for the entire duration of our stay . So anyone who fancies a moan  be warned! Can't wait to meet the landlords, sound like terrific people , especially if their prepared to put up with a bunch of lairy Cockney boys !
