St Denis Apartments

Accommodation in Tsilivi

Tracy W

This was our first time in the St Denis Apartments and Tsilivi.    Although it has a great location and lovely small complex we found the accommodation quite outdated and in great need of updating.   We understand you can't get home comforts on holiday but we found the hard plastic chairs on the balcony (as our only sitting area) very uncomfortable.  The balcony also consisted of rotten wood on the ceiling where bats had decided to take up residence!!    There appeared to be a great fall out between the staff while we were there which ended up in Big D and his brother leaving.  Therefore for a couple of days there was nobody to man the pool bar at all.   Although this didn't affect us in any way, I really felt for the people who were staying on a bed and breakfast basis.  The maids were lovely and did a great job, but all their cleaning and hard work didn't make any difference to the outdated and old fashioned furniture and decor.  We would definately return to Tsilivi as we found it a lovely entertaining place with plenty to do and lovely beaches but we wouldn't return to the St Denis Apartments.  Apparently they are being updated this year and if this happened, we would definately be back!!

we went to st.denis in july 2006 it was lovley i was always in the swimming pool. Big D was very stupid and kept on throwing me and my little sister into the swimming pool however costas the bar man was really nice. The food was lovley and the milkshakes costas made were the best ones ever. We went on a boat trip and we saw 2 turtles at around 80 years old it was exellent. if you want a proper english breakfast you have to go to tizzys cafe when you come out of st denis turn right and go straight up and you will see it on your left hand side. when you want a holiday this is the place to go !!!! IT IS EXELLENT

Stacy R

we stayed at st denis june 2006 and we had the best holiday yet   i agree "big D"  is a little annoying and quite immature  my 8 and 10 year old daughters seemed to be more responsible  than him however his brother "costas"  was fantastic he looked after us the wholr 2 weeks he pointed us in the direction of a boat trip to the kerri caves and we had the time of ours lives we have some fantastic memories and photos.  The apartments were quite basic but spotlessly clean swimming pool was great kids spent most days in it.  Harry the dog was good to have around espicially as we were missing our own dog. Tisilvi was lovely perfect for our family. We also hired a car to explore zante definately a must do some of the most beautifull beaches i have ever seen. didnt do shipwreck to many people said it wasnt worth it. Really glad we stayed at st denis definately go back. overall i would give this holiday 10/10.

Sarah G

We went to these apartments in September 2006.  Weather was good.  Apartments were basic but very clean and well equipped.  Not much noise on an evening.  The pool and surrounding areas were kept very clean & tidy.  Went on a few outings.  Thought the Greek night was a total rip off!!!  Boat trip to the ship wreck was ok but not much to write home about.  Water park was ok but rather small so only half a day really needed.  Make sure the Taxi driver doesnt rip you off. Tsilivi was very nice with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Overall was a Brill Holiday!!!

Andrew

We were there during August and it was hot but we didn't miss air con. We didn't even need fans except for the las two days when the daytime temperature was in the forties. The apartments were quite large and reasonably well equipped. They were always clean and the linen was changed every other day. Our apartment was to the left of the bar as you faced it and at night we could hear the Planet bar but it wasn't a problem. The main advantage of the apartment was that it was in the shade in the late afternoon. This meant it was pleasant to sit an have a drink after coming back from the beach.. The ones opposite would have been too hot. The pool was always clean but the sunbeds were uncomfortable, though as we spent most of our time on the beach this wasn't too much of a problem. The reception area is a waste of space. I assumed it had been a restaurant at some point. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the mini-market had most things we wanted an at reasonable prices. On the whole we thought the apartments were great and Tsivili was a good place for a family holiday.

Mike

We've just come back from staying at St Denis and would agree with most of the comments made so far, the apartment was cleaned everyday and the bed linen and towels changed every other day. The apartment was quite large and had all the basic facilities, but the only downside was the bathroom which was in need of refurbishment. The pool area was excellent and the kids loved playing with Ollie (the dog) who only barked in a playful way when someone jumped into the pool. We could hear music in the distance in the evening which probably came from the Planet bar but this wasn't loud enough to be a nuisance. The staff were friendly and I would agree that Demiteri is a little immature but he means well. The location is excellent close to the town and the beach is only a short stroll away we enjoyed our stay at St Denis and would definitely consider going back next year.

Here's a picture of Ollie the dog. click to enlarge

hi,  been back a few weeks now, this was our third visit to tsilivi and the saint denis apartments. The apartments are in a great location a short stroll from the beach and the centre of tsilivi. This time we were on a b&b basis and the room that we were in was great. The cleaners came in everyday except sunday, with new linen and towels. Breakfast was toast, jam or marmalade, tea or coffee and a glass of orange, if you wanted anything different you had to pay extra. Tsilivi is great, something for everyone, our favourite restaurant was fiorantino and best bar was the paradise. Dont leave tsilivi without going here. We will return to tsilivi again, but next time will choose alternative accomodation. The apartments itself are great, but the staff that run the pool bar and sometimes reception area let it down, they are not the friendliest or inviting of greek people.

Rachel

Myself and my two friends have just returned from our week in St.Denis.  Very enjoyable, apartments very clean, but beware, alot of lizards, everytime we went out on our balcony there were always two or three on the ceiling!!! Tsilivi was perhaps a little quiet for us, not a very good range of niteclubs, the cocktail bar is probable the liveliest or elso Reportage bar! The apartments were very basic and we had a two bedroomed but the annoying thing was we had to go through a bedroom to get to the balcony!  That dog that follows the care taker around is really annoying though, barks alot, not very relaxing! All in all very nice, weather was scorching, high 30's most of the week!

L B

The apartments were extremely clean.  We had a 2 bedroomed apartment overlooking the sea. It was basic but had a fridge freezer, cooker and all the necessary utensils.  The maids even washed the walls down, along with the front path.  The swimming pool was spotless.  The only problem was if you didnt get to the pool first thing people tended to hog all the sunbeds and the brollys so you found yourself with no shade! We were extremely glad the apartments were so nice. The only thing that let Tsilivi down was the main street at night.  It was like an English Blackpool. Extremely commercialised with tourist shops and every barman wanting to pull you in to their bar or restaurant.  No real places to have a nice walk, unless you went onto the beach.  Quite noisy at night which I suppose at this time of year was only to be expected.  The place was not quite what we expected but we made the most of it and were glad we only went for a week.

Lisa A

I arrived back from St Dennis (5/8/06)  I would have to say i saw no detritus at all in the pool and did see the pool man cleaning and testing the water, yes he has a dog but i heared no barking from him. The apartments are a little basic but if you have been to greece before this is expected and yes there were ants but again you are in a hot climate and i always expect them!! They have(as do all greek island) small lizards buy they never get into the appartments. I saw no evidence of rats. The apartments have no aircon and fans are 2.00 Euros a day. The apartments were cleaned daily, the drains do smell sometimes but again we are visiting Greece and again because of there Sewage system you are bound to get some smells!!   The reception staff are quite sweet but i have to agree Demitrius is a little immature but not offensive at all.We allways arrived home by about 1AM and heared no noise at all.  If you hire a car go to sandra at theo's rentals and she will give you a great map that she will mark with all the places to visit, she was really helpfull and very sweet. You must visit the Paradise bar even if it is only  once(You must never leave) The resort itself is really nice. the people are genuine and kind. My favorite beach is Zorro if you can find it. The shipwreck is a bit nothingy!! Do not go for the day it is too hot. the sand is like razor blades and the sea is too strong to swim, i think the fouty minute drop off is plenty. The Village of Bochall is lovely with the best views of Zante town & port you will ever see.I love Greece and i really liked Zante. i would go again after i have visited the rest of the greek islands!!!

Hayley W

HELLO EVERYONE I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT THE APARTMENTS ARE PERFECT.AND THE STAFF IS RUNNING FOR YOU. I HAD THE BEST HOLIDAY EVER

Debbie W

Hi The apartment we stayed in was immaculate, basic but cleaned thoroughly daily inside and out.

We heard no noise at all, the nearest lively bar is The Planet Bar which is a 2 mins walk, Maybe if you were in the apartments backing out that way you may hear something, cannot comment.
The airport is a nightmare, we were there about 4 hours, there is nowhere to sit in departure lounge if it's busy. It's very expensive too. My advise, wear old clothes you don't mind getting grubby as the only place to sit is the floor! Secondly take plenty of food and drinks in your hand luggage in case of delays because of the prices. Not sure about weather, went in June

Emma V

going to zante for the first time on 24/9/06 and would love to know what the the appartments are like as there are lots of mixed comments, all i want to know is how clean are they and is there any night time noise from pubs and clubs, and what is the weather like at that time of year and if the the airport has been updated yet as iv heard lots of horror stories.

Debbie W

Have just come back from St Denis Apartments, I have to disagree with the  comment below about the cleanliness. It was cleaned thoroughly every day apart from Sunday. My Bathroom was blue and white not dirty beige! The Patios and pool area are scrubbed each morning. I did bot see a single ant and only one lizard. All staff very friendly. Agree that the large reception area is wasted. Only negative comment is the sun loungers (when you find one that's not broken) are very uncomfortable, buy a sponge matress or lilo. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves will definately return (family of 4 incl. 2 teenagers who also loved it)

K H

We hated it as soon as we arrived at 6 in the morning, it just looked so dreary. the place was crawling with ants, and a few lizards too!! We couldn't put anything in the wardrobe because it absolutley stank and didn't like the look of any of the drawers either.  The  bathrooms in all the apartments are a beige/brown which in itself makes them look dirty, we had to get wipes to clean toothpaste marks etc from our sink when we arrived.  We did complain though, our rep was wonderful, we only moved a couple of doors away but it made a difference, exact same lay out and colour but without the awful smell, if they painted the apartments white it might make them look brighter, they have nice balconies though.  I wouldn't have been so upset if it had been classed as a 1 star but first choice have it advertised as 3 star and it doesn't deserve this.  There is no air con, but you can hire a fan for 2 euro a day, if that helps.  They just have to refurbish the apartments a bit and they will be fine (white bathrooms might be a start) as for the kitchen we just wouldn't cook in them, not in our block anyway (as we viewed them all), we did see one in another  block that wasn't too bad.  The location is excellent and the town is too.

We wer not bothered by any owners or anybody on the island for the whole week.As a young couple it was a perfect holiday and would be perfect also for family's and the older generation...:-) The people are really pleasant, the food is beautiful with loads to choose from and the weather was smashing.Anybody going to Zante in the near future im sure will have a great time and it gets the thumbs up from me!!

Lynn W

Thanks for a wonderful 2 weeks holiday.  Weather fantastic, apartments very clean well done to Leah the cleaner she was superb.  Also thanks to Toli and Vanda for making us so welcome, we had a wonderful wedding day for Laura and Tim.

Thank to everyone at St Denis Apartments, hopefully going back in 2006.

Laura W

as toli said, if you miserable b*!"*!ds didnt come on holiday to have a good time and enjoy yourselves then you should have stayed at home! i can't belive the audacity of some people. toli and vanda were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us-nothing was too much trouble. take them as you find them and you'd do alot better. if they had actually had the backing of the 2 miserable scrooge owners to make some well needed changes, the resort would have got 11 out of 10, but as with most tight-fisted businessmen, they don't like to let go of their money if they can help it and rarely have any manners or friendliness. it's no wonder toli n vanda are not going back next year - and the place will suffer tremendously without their personalities. speaking as the bride in a wedding party, travelling there for two weeks, toli and vanda were superb and even organised a party after the wedding ceremony, a honeymoon suite for the remainder of our stay and a lovely bottle of champagne for our first toast. my sister, lisa, absolutely adored them both and cried when we left on sunday morning, and they were brilliant with my 10month old daughter chloe. we will definately be going back back as soon as we can and will make a point of seeing toli and vanda.   we'll send you some photo's guys and got ur address so we'll be writing soon. have fun over 'summer' and enjoy.

lots and  lots of love ( and thanks)

Oh come on people get a grip, TOLI and VANDA made the apartments, without them it would have been a very boring place.....they were very friendly (and im not a southerner as someone commented). They made us welcome from day one, they were funny, friendly and very kind............ask any of the party of 16 that went with us, ranging in age from 2 to 52, and a fab time was had by all.
TOLI and VANDA's sense of humour was cool, we laughed so much  it hurt ....fantastic  water fights guys and brill drinking games too, which by the way raised lots of cash for some bike leathers for a little boy................all in all a fab place. the apartments were clean thanks to a lovely team of ladies.......we had a special night when TOLI and VANDA opened the bar for us and got us some fireworks to celebrate the wedding we were there for.........THANKS GUYS  your the best....................dont forget to let us know where ya moving to next season we will def keep in touch, you made our holiday extra special.

To anyonewho didn't join in or enjoy their stay at St Denis  you must have had misery pills for breakfast everyday....and there were one or two

ALL IN ALL A GREAT HOLIDAY!!!

great gyros bar up the main road too, also made chocolate pancakes (yummy!!)

till next time TOLI n VANDA thanks for everything!

myself and 15 members of my family just returned home from spending 2 weeks at st dennis,we were a wedding party and from day one we have had the most brilient time.

i can honestly say we have done nothing but laugh for two weeks and the apartments are spot on.
we stayed in b7 which is the most luxurious appartment due to getting married however all our families rooms were great too.vanda and toli were brillient(once we'd figured how to take them) and we had a constant laugh they kept us tottally entertained and treated our little girl who's 2 like a princess.......
i have to say they made our holiday.....(thanks you two)....the cleaners were little diamonds nothing was too much trouble......and the facilities were the best pool area lovely......
romios restaurant we can recomend especially if wanting a meal after a wedding nothing was too much trouble and the food was spot on...........
all in all a brillient holiday would go back tommorrow and recomend to all our friends and family.

Trevor W

Very good central location, near to a decent beach, some good eating places and friendly bars.

The appartments are very clean and well kept. The supermarket and other nearby shops have a reasonable selection of essentials and fresh fruit and veg.

Tsililvi is OK but glad we hired a Jeep for some sightseeing. Pity the Jeep broke down on arrival. Thanks and credit to Toli and Vanda. They may not be to everyone's taste, but they were very good to us and really helpful. We have never taken a holiday in the same place twice, but we will do this time and will look up Toli and Vanda if they are around next year.

Wayne C

Oh where are Vanda and Toli going???????? Will they be managing another complex in Tsilivi. If anyone knows please post details on here so we can make a point of not going their.

The St Dennis appartments are lovely and I would recommend them to anyone. They are spotless clean and in a great location near to everything but far enough away from the noise of the main high street.

Would defo go back again

Chris J

We took our 7month daughter here and parents....

Stopped in the apartments facing the road (cosmos) and thought it was clean and spacious.  Lovely pool setting and nice apartments set back around the pool (first choice).

Slightly noisy in the evenings but nothing to stop you sleeping.

I can imagine quests not liking the managers, but when relied upon they are very good. Their young friendly, loud and like a drink (great for young couples to drink with), their  probably bored manging these apartments as it is more for families and older couples.  On occasions they were slightly loud and rude but really did not bother me as this was so rare and generally very nice.

Anyway Toli and Vanda are leaving the St. Denis apartments at the end of the season Oct 05.

Ruth F

I have just returned from St Dennis apt and am afraid have to agree with all negative comments about the mangers. Toli and Vanda (is that her name) are the most unpleasant people I have ever come across as hotel managers. If you have the wrong accent ie not Southern then you are treated like SCUM. They are ruining this place for the owners and I urge them to get rid ASAP. Our '1 bed apt'  K2 in the block at the front was lovely, but not a coventional apt ie not sep room, but a wall part way across so no good for 2 couples (K3 also) K5 is a proper 1 bed tho and very nice. This block is new and DG kept any noise out so suggest light sleepers request these. No problems whatsoever with the 'apt'  & best apts I have stayed in 20yrs of visiting Greece . The pool is too deep for me and not long enough for serious swimmers. Its not that clean, I saw v large dead spider on the bottom on our last day. I only went in once! They keep it heavily chlorinated to save themselves the hassle of cleaning it. Onsite supermaket has to be  a complete and utter rip off dont use it. There is one -Tom and Jons which is huge 50yds away down the road to the beach I only bought water at ours. On arrival the grumpy Tolis gave our party of 4 (36-48yr olds !) a stern lecture on pool ettiquette, which I found unecessary and offsensive. He and wife are the rudest people EVER! I personally wouldnt go there again because of those 2.

Abbie R

i really enjoyed my stay at the St Denis apartments. it is very clean and the rooms are lovely. i dont see the problem with Toli and Vanda...they were really happy and helpful towards us and the other guests i saw them chatting too.

but there are a couple of problems....at night it is quite noisy, there are bars to the right which play music till the early hours (so people who like a quiet night sleep, this isnt for u). Every morning i heard the lovely cockerel (bless him) and the gardener who comes everyday has a lovely Collie dog but he gets tied up in different places all around the site and does like to bark...quite a lot!

but apart form this it was a really enjoyable holiday and i would love to come back soon!

Mo

so touchy

Toli

this isa visitor from st denis and i just want to say to some of the muppets that will go away to complain   JUST STAY HOME and let the rest of us have some FUN you old farts

D S

My family and I returned from Zante on 20th August.  A lovely island.  However our stay was marred by the presence of Toli and Vanda the managers of our apartment complex.  I have never met two more unprofessional people in my entire life.  I found them both to be rude, arraogant and unhelpful in the extreme with a couldn't care less attitude.  I could go on and on but I just hope for the sake of future guests at the St. Dennis that the owners see these people for what they are and discontinue their employment.  They made our stay at the St. Dennis most uncomfortable.

The St. Dennis itself is well located but the apartments and a bit worn, however the cleaning staff did a wonderful job considering what they are dealing with.  Another point I think thats worth mentioning - the swimming pool if totally unsuitable for small children and toddlers as there is virtually no shallow end.

Maurice Q

we have just come back from st denis and reading some of the comments makes me laugh.this is our sixth time to zante and be far the two idiots that run the place have to be the most miserable people you will ever meet.some people have to get a grip of themselves if they think these two are actually friends with you they lack so much in people skills its laughable.as soon as you get off the coach he starts on about the rules of the place,as soon as you walk into the shop she starts staring at you with that lovely blank expressionless face of hers.the cleaners work hard but we stayed in apt block a and the toilet didn't flush properly, the tap head was broken, couldn't put food down on the breakfast bar because the [millions]ants would get there first. tsilivi is a lovely resort with a lovely beach some very good restaurants and bars and apts but not this one ialso noticed that on the coach on the way home all the other apt owners wre out waving off the clients, toli and vanda erm...............

Owen L

Hi to the three girls who stayed in the apartmentsin the last 2 weeks in july,Georgia, victoria and victoria's sister(sorry can't rememberyour name!!).If you can't remember me I'm the one who kept diving underwaterand the one you pushed into the pool at about half 1 in the morning and jumped over the corner and then fell in!!Hope you get this message and if you do georgia leave a post 'cause I did actually fancie you!!

Owen L

My holiday in the St.Denis apartments run by Toli and Vanda was the best ever. The beach is so close andthere are plenty of places to get PISSED!I found the best places that I found were ENIGMA night club(past the planet bar behind the apartments)and PARADISE COCKTAILS(at the top end of the town towards Zakynthos town past popeyes).Toli and Vanda made the holiday brilliant, along with a few good looking girls in the apartments!!!St.Denis ROCKS!!!!

May A

We with Jimmy's sister and brother-in-law spent 2weeks from july 17th - july 31st 2005 at St Denis apartments and had yet another great holiday there.  This was our 4th stay and new exactly what to expect. We were shoked to find George was no longer there but soon got used to Toli and Vanda. As usual the services were very good, cleaners every day and towel and bedding changed every 2nd day. We really enjoy being so close to beach and enjoy all the restaurants and friendly staff, not to mention great food, in all of them that we go to. Taxis are reasonably priced so visiting other resorts in the evening, for a change, is no problem. Levantino beach cafe and bar is where we enjoy being near during day. Tsilivi is the best resort, we think, and St Denis apts are a must. Be back soon.

Spent a week at St Dennis 26 July - 2 Aug 2005 and have had a fabulous holiday. We enjoy a relatively quiet holiday and so was a bit apprehensive reading some of the comments just before we left, but there was nothing to worry about.  We were greeted off the coach by Toli (very friendly and can't do enough to help, and taken to our Apartment (in E block) very clean (bedding & towels changed every other day), spacious and overlooking the pool and lovely gardens.  Not disturbed by any noise from the Planet bar at all (only the cockeral every morning bless him!!!) There is a bar at the bottom of the driveway where you are dropped off but VERY LOW KEY.

Apartments very well situated for lovely beach, supermarket, restaurants/bars but without any hustle and bustle.
Pool excellent, never over crowded and pool bar snacks & refreshments available, we would usually use the pool a lot more but it was just too hot to sit round (reached 43 some days) so used the beach mostly as there was an occasional breeze.
You are pestered a bit by waiters etc wanting you to eat at their restaurant as you're walking along the main road which gets annoying after being asked over and over again by the same people.  The Euro has taken its toll on a lot of businesses, no where is really cheap any more.
We enjoyed eating at Moby Dicks virtually on the beach (sounds very english, but a lot of Greeks eat there and they cater for absolutely everyone) Trente Nova v. nice too, relaxing, but on the pricey side.

All in all a great holiday, wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Jemma T

i dont understand y ppl r complaninn cus wen i went it was cool , vanda n toli made it cool. every1 was very nice n so was da apartments. i ad da best holiday eva at da st dennis n dat was all down 2 vanda n toli.

Sammy T

st denis apartments were amazing and vanda and toli are great fun and so friendly. the apartments were very clean and everything is always in working order. the pool was a reasonable size and safe for all the family. i loved it there and wish i could have stayed for a bit longer. i will miss you vanda and toli and selee [gardener] x

Craig B

We have just returned from these apartments and I have to say that the area around the pool was very nice and one of the best we saw in Tsilivi. The gardener worked very hard and kept everything very tidy. The apartments themselves need a bit of TLC especially the bathrooms although the maids kept it very clean and can not be faulted. We were staying at the back of the complex in B6 and B4 and you can hear the noise/music from the Planet Bar behind as well as some other bars. This would go on until usually 3am and when we complained to First Choice their response was keep the windows shut and hire some fans which is not great when it reached 48degrees on some days. We were B&B and this was very disappointing. Basically you get toast, tea and an Orange Juice although they did give us some scambled egg and some cornflakes for the kids but made it clear that they were doing us a really big favour. We had to have it at 10am everyday on the dot otherwise it was an inconvenience to them and we had to clear away all our own dishes etc. Vanda who runs the pool bar was very inexperienced (She only started in May and was a van driver in Somerset before this) and she definately had the like it or lump it attitude and certainly wouldn't win any customer service awards. If you are going in peak season the pool area will get very busy as all pools are open to the public by law. Tolli (the manager) said that he would remove any towels that were reserving sunbeds but this never happened and as a lot of the sunbeds were broken this became a problem unless you got down there early. Having driven around the Island Tsilivi was probably the nicest resort of the major ones although it is already becoming quite commercial and its certainly catering for the English Invasion offering full English Breakfasts, Sunday Roasts and pubs named the Red Lion etc. The Island is very pretty and the people are very friendly but with the opening of the new airport its only going to loose its Greek identity even more as the builders move in and the English want more of Blackpool with the sun!!!!!

Sarah J

Just recently returned form St Denis Apartments in Tsilivi, You can't fault the Apartments apart from being a bit old and worn, The cleaners did a great job as did the gardner and pool man , The only concern we had was with the pool bar and service if you can call it  service.  We were shouted at and given rules from day one. I would go back next year as long as Vanda & Toli were not there to spoil this great place.

Jane M

We stayed at St Denis for a week from June 23rd 2005, had a good time, nice apartments, clean and great maid service, Toli & Vanda who run the place are great fun, go and have a drink(or two or three..) with them at night at the pool bar
Would go back again,

Love Jane, Pete, Tia & Tara

I loved Tsilivi.  It was the most wonderful place to spend our wedding and honey moon. Nevertheless, I have to say that although the apartments at St Dennis were very nice and extremely clean, I have to admit the service at the pool was poor.  Out of all the bars and restaurants that there are in Tsilivi, and there are so many to choose from, with excellent service, I found the service at St Dennis the least accomodating.  The staff were just not interested in going out of their way for you, and had a poor attitude that ' if people don't like it, they can lump it.'  Therefore, I wasn't surprised when they complained that their daily takings were not too good on some days.

Yes without a doubt, I would go back to Tsilivi, but I wouldn't stay at St Denis again.  Next time, I will stay at The Mavrias Village, where my husband and I decided to have our wedding and where all of our 23 guests stayed.  They were far more welcoming, couldn't do enough to make you happy and were full of fun.

Toli+vanda

hi every body we are still here at st denis lets party

Mandi P

Tsilivi is a lovely village, just big enough but not too big.  It seems as if it is the prettiest in Zante, we visited a few other resorts and thought Tsilivi was the best.  The St Dennis Apartments were spacious, very clean, the maid visited every day, changed the towels and tidied our mess!  The aparments are just up from the beach too which was nice.  Make sure you visit the bar in St Dennis.  You'll come across a lovely couple called Toli and Vanda.  Toli used to live in england and is greek, Vanda is british through and through.  This couple can not do enough for you.  They are lively, hard working and a great laugh.  Be sure to take a large water canon with you and make sure you get Vanda first - or just push her in the pool!  They are a great couple, lively, friendly, funny and like i said can not do enough for you.

One word of warning though, if you want to hire a motorbike please be careful.  Me and hubby ride here in England, we are not novices.  We came off the bike, luckily with just matching missing skin on our knees.  The roads are like waxed ice and get worse as the weather gets hotter.  The locals are used to it, us English aren't please if you ignore my warning, be very careful.

We would definetly go back to St Dennis in Tsilivi, you would be mad not to.

Debbie C

We stayed at the St Denis Apartments in July last year.  The complex is very relaxing and peaceful during the day.  There was some music noise from the nearby Planet Bar at night but it didn't go on all night and didn't bother us too much.  We always take earplugs with us just in case!!  I don't remember seeing a cot in our apartment but the people next door to us had very young twin girls so I guess you must be able to request them.  The family who run the apartments are very helpful and accommodating, especially Rita, who also runs the on site shop.

There are plenty of taxis at the airport and in Tsilivi and they are reasonably priced.

Helen B

Am thinking of going to the st denis apartments with my 3 year old and 15 month old and my husband. Is it a quiet complex as have read a review that someone was kept awake from the noise of a night club.Is it a quite place for as nic erelaxing holiday as we both like it peaceful despite having kids. Do they have cots as well.

Colin S

Hi Debbie You will enjoy Menorca we went June 2002 (World Cup) and June 2003. Stayed at Oasis Park Cala'n Forcat. Went with friends and relatives and had a great time. Weather was hot

Debbie C

Hi Colin, we are the family with the two daughters from Eltham.  We were there during your first week.  We used to chat to Brenda and Phil from Birmingham too.  We remembered you because you mentioned going on the jeep safari.  Don't worry you didn't do anything wrong - all our memories are good ones!!! (except perhaps being very travel sick on the trip to Kefalonia!).  We're not going to Zante this year but thought we'd try Menorca instead as we haven't been there before.

Colin S

Hi Debbie. Yes it is us the family with Tommy the very blonde son. Not 100% sure I can remember who you are????? Give us a clue??? When someone remembers you not sure if its good or bad. Really looking forward to going back to St Dennis Apartments as we had such a good time last year. Really laid back and relaxing holiday with nice restaurants and bars for the evening . Very well located for everything beach, shops bars and restaurants. Great weather and those ice cold beers from the pool bar. Counting down the days already only 54 to go. Are you going back this year?????

Debbie C

Not sure what happened with the ratings on my last message - our holiday was definately well above average!!

Debbie C

My family and I visited St Denis Apartments from 1st-14th July 2004 and had one of our best holidays ever!  Apartments clean and spacious.  Towels and bedding changed every other day.  The pool area was well kept and there were nearly always sunbeds available.  Mick at the pool bar very friendly and made great lunches.  We would recommend Fiorentino's as the best place to eat out at night - the prawns wrapped in bacon were to die for!!  It was extremely hot during our first week and hiring a fan was essential.  Colin - are you the family from Catford with the very blond son?

Lisa A

Hi Stella
Thank you so much for the comment, i am getting straight on to the travel agent in the morning and making that request. Thanks again you have put my mind at rest. If you are going to Kos Cyprus or corfu next year i will try to return the favour.

Stella D

Hi Lisa,

My husband and I stayed at St Dennis the first two weeks in September, we stayed in apartment B7 which is huge, three balconies, massive bathroom, large kitchen with full size cooker, much bigger than other apartments we saw. Bit of noise from the music bar behind but not enough to keep us awake, sea and pool view. if you can specify an apartment I would definetely request B7. The apartments are very clean asis the pool and whole complex. We will definetely go back there. Hope you have a fantastic holiday.

Lisa A

Hi Colin Thanks so much for your comments. I was getting really worried, had a really negative report regarding the whole area and apartments on holiday truths so was releved to hear your comments. We have booked a two bed appt on an upper floor, and made a request for pool view, would you recommend we ask for any specific part of the accomodation to avoid the music? again many thanks in advance

Colin S

St Dennis Apartments are located on the road that runs down from Popeys to the beach or from the main road directly behind the Planet bar and apartments. While in the centre of the resort near to bars restaurants and only 100m from the beach they are located in a quite spot. In the evening depending which apartment you are in you can hear a bit of music from the Planet Bar but nothing too disturbe you. None of the roads can really be classed as major but the main high street which is faily narrow and twisting can get slightly busy in the evening depending on the time of year. We stayed at St Dennis for two weeks in July and had a great time, definatly hoping to go back again next year as this was one of the best holidays we have ever had. Tsiliv is a great place.I am sure you will enjoy yourselves.

Lisa A

I am going to St dennis next Aug and was wondering where the apartments are located, Is it in a fairly quiet part of the resort? Is it overlooked by any major roads? That sort of thing. Any help anyone can offer would be gratfully recieved. Many thanks in advance!!

Jerry C

we have just got back from two weeks st denis, had a brilliant time, due partly to everybody being so friendly but especially to steve, dee, rosie and danny. this was our first time to zante and we all found the place lovely. mick, give kerry a massive pay rise, the girl is a diamond, our boys loved their henna tattoos which she did for them. apartments were fine if a bit old. only down side was the bloody chickens, c**k a doodle dooing at five in the morning !!!
did make us laugh though, already got the holiday blues.

Stella D

going to st dennis for honeymoon august 31, should have gone june 8 but husband broke his leg! what is the terrain like, will he be able to get around ok on crutches?

Stella D

We are going to st.dennis apartments august 31 for our honeymoon! should have gone june 8th but husband broke his leg,he is still on crutches, so say hi if you see us, you won't be able to miss husband hobbling about, is it a good place for honeymoon?

Sarah

i stayed in the appartments for a week in July, and it was a really nice place to stay. Near the beach, and practically in the center of town, plus, they do lovely cheese and ham toasties in the pool bar. But, be warned one of the bedroom doors in apartment A6 was a bit old, i mangaed to lock myself in and i couldnt get out, so i had to throw the key out of the window, and waited until a member of staff came to rescue me 20 minutes later, v.embarassing. But overall, its a very comfortable and pleasant place to stay.

Colin S

Stayed at St Dennis Apartments 6th to 20th July and had a fantastic holiday. The weather was great nice and hot 38/40 plus . Not so bad as it sounds when you can drink an ice cold beer or jump in the pool. The complex is really well laid out with lovely gardens and a nice quite pool area. The pool bar provides a good selection of snacks plus those cold beers. The English breakfast is also very good. The apartments are adequate for all your needs and are kept stotless clean with regular changes of towels and linen. All the staff are very helpful and speak very good English. The apartments are located in a good spot close to the beach, bars and resturants. Everything is on the door step but at the same time in a secluded spot.We met some very nice people and would definatly go back. St Dennis is a complex we would like to stay at again. Already thinking about booking for next year.

Sue W

Just returned from the St. Denis Apartments yesterday (2 adults & 2 kids, 12 and 14). The apartments are located 2 mins from the beach near Margarita's and Tom & John's. They're rated 4/10 here but I would give them more than that. I think we were in the newer part (not facing the pool). Room could have been a bit bigger and the balcony was small, but we had no noise from the street outside (though I suppose it is quite early in the season) and everything was really clean and looked new. Cleaner's were great!
Try Fiorentino's Taverna. It's really small so you could walk past without noticing it! It's next to the Joker Bar and Paradise penalties (we gave that a miss!!) but their food is great. We went by chance the first time but after that we had to queue - the wait is worth it. Quite a few people had recommended The Olive Tree restaurant - we went there and whilst the food is fine, it's no better than anywhere else we ate, but it is more expensive.
All in all, we had a great time!

David S

Can someone just clarify something for me. Are these apartments near Tom and John's, also near the the supermarket run by Margerita?

thanks.

Christine R

Spent two weeks at St Dennis Apartments and enjoyed it. The apartments were spacious, kept very clean by the maids and the balcony was a great size. Mick at the pool bar was very friendly, George (the manager) has a wicked sense of humour and is very helpful. His wife was the opposite! Has a great location, only 5 mins max to the beach, restaurants, shops etc. The pool and grounds were kept very clean. Would recommend this to anyone, really good for families as the apartments are a great size and it is centrally located. It's not 5 star luxury, but we never paid for that!

Tom D

had agreat week the pool and apartments were very clean and mick at the bar was very helpful and also cooked good food i would recommend this place to every one

Paula B

Came back from Tsilivi on 16th October, had a lovely 2 weeks at St. Dennis. We had 4 children with us from 20months to 13 years and they all had a wonderful time. Can't fault anything realy apart from lack of baby changing facilities in the resort. Everyone we met was lovely and friendly. We would definately go back next year hopefully. George the owner has a wicked sense of humour singing outside the little chapel while two of our kids were inside having a prayer, they swear they heard a ghost. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Kev J

had a great time great food at the pool bar freindly staff at bar and george at the supermarket has a great sence of humour

Trish M

Goldplay M

this holiday was brill. i love the people that i met and will neva 4get them

Steven G

Just got back from 2 weeks in Heaven! Our room had a marvelous sea view and the 2 minute walk to the beach was a God send. Weather was in the 40's which for the last 2 weeks of June, was unusual. Only had a couple of overcast days, mainly due to a magnificent thunder storm one evening. Don't really have a bad word to say. A really lovely, relaxing holiday all round.

Jenny S

We stayed at St Denis for two weeks and had a really lovely relaxing holiday. The accommodation wasn't great, and leaked during a thunderstorm (next door's bedroom was half flooded), but all in all we enjoyed ourselves. One word of warning - If you are put in apartment B4 take your earplugs with you, as the music from the Planet Bar behind is VERY loud because the bedroom is at the back. We had to hire a fan to drown it out. The rep asked the bar owner to turn it down and it was slightly less loud for a few nights. Don't believe what you hear about everything going inside at midnight - this was going on until 4am every night and there had been complaints the week before we arrived. The pool area's very nice and the cleaners were excellent. Hello to Donna and Steve, hope you got out of there alive and well. How's the owl?

Debbie K

Just got back from the St Denis apartments on Monday. We are a family of 4 and had booked a 2 bed apartment, but were put in a 1 bed room in the new section at the front of the building. After quite a scrap with George and the Cosmos rep, Emma we were finally moved into the room that we paid for - a 2 bed apartment by the pool.

Our first room was immaculate, with nice bathrooms (with somewhere to hang the shower head!!) and as they are so new the decor is still fresh. However the balcony was so small that the four of us couldn't all sit out there together! The room is quite noisy (although not unbearably so) due to it's location at the front of the complex. There is one double room, and two single beds in the living area. Also a table and chairs, but no 'comfy' seating.

When we finally got moved into the room that we had paid for we found that as it was older it was a bit shabbier than our first room, but it was much more spacious. Two separate bedrooms, one leads onto a good sized balcony. The kitchen area was adequate - we eat out every night, but we could have produced a meal in the room if we had wanted to. Bathroom OK, but this time we had nowhere to hang the shower head. Also, when you turn the water on the sewage smell is hideous, but it soon disappears. These poolside apartments are quieter, you can hear a bit of music from the Enigma bar behind, but not enough to stop you sleeping. The bloody cockerel next door will drive you mad in the mornings though!

The maid service is first class. They changed the beds and bought new towels every other day and on the 'in-between' day they come in and make the beds and sweep. They do a really good job.

The pool area is very pleasant. Plenty of sunbeds and tables and chairs, which are all washed off daily. The pool bar is run by Brits, Mick and Leanne. We ate breakfast there a couple of times (full english 5 euros). Also provides snacks and drinks (bowl of chips 2 euros, can of coke 1.50 euros, bottle of Mythos 2 euros). The pool is very deep - the deep end is 2.7m and within a few paces of the shallow end you are up to your shoulders. Nice pool, though! We were there for the end of the school hols and the pool was packed with kids and lilo's - exactly what we expected, but some people seem to be surprised to find kids in the pool during the school holidays!! Our holiday overlapped the end of the school holidays and for our last 4 days the pool was absolutely empty.

St Denis supermarket is not particularly well stocked, but there are other shops within a short distance. The beach is along the road about 100m, but as beach lovers we didn't think it was very nice. Hire a car and go to St Nicholas beach or Gerakas beach for a really lovely day. Tsilivi resort was OK - restaurant followed by gift shop followed by restaurant, followed by gift shop.........you get my drift. Nothing fantastic about it, but OK for a couple of weeks - any longer and you'd be driven mad! Word of warning - there are very few footpaths, so keep hold of the kids!

We made the mistake of booking night flights (never again!) and found that we were put out of our apartment at 12 noon on the Sunday - our flights weren't until 7am Monday morning. We had tried to pre-book an extension to our room as soon as we arrived, but rep Emma said not to worry about it - she would arrange it for us towards the end of the holiday. However when the end of the holiday came she didn't want to know and referred us to George who claimed to be fully booked. He suggested booking into another hotel along the road, but this really wasn't practical. In the end we tried to kip on the sofas in reception until our coach pick up at 3am, but believe me this isn't fun with two small kids and it really ruined the end of our holiday. Motto of the story is don't be fobbed off by a gobby rep - make sure that she does something about extending your room booking at the beginning of your holiday if this is what you need.

Last but not least - the airport.........Can't put into words how awful it is! Just console yourselves with the thought that you are only passing through it, and don't have to spend your whole holiday there! Take plenty of water/snacks and a good book. Due to their new security system we were picked up 4 hours before our flight - the whole system is a nightmare, and one that the Zakynthians will have to address if they want to encourage more tourism.

thinking of staying at st.dennis apartments next year, (can't be any worse than tom and johns).

Can someone remind me of the location of St dennis apartments.

Michael H

We have just returned from St Denis apartments .My wife and two children 7 and 10 had a great two week holiday from 17/08/2003.The weather was very very hot so a fan from george the owner is essential. We had a lovely apartment overlooking the pool and the complex was relaxing and great fun for the children in the pool.A few too many inflatables in the pool with some children using a full size dinghy which was a little over the top.Arranged all our own tours which was much cheaper than First choice although the rep was very pleasant.Dont agree with some other comments We found the music not that loud and didnt disturb your sleep or the childrens after a long day.We ate a few times at Moby Dicks restaurant where Karen the lady there was fantastic and very good with the children.Even gave them gifts when we left.Dont eat at camelot restaurant bloody awlful food and the same view from our next door neighbours whose meal was disgusting.Hired a jeep for two days for 100 euros.very good value and excellent quality car.Blue caves were disappointing NOT VERY BLUE after going to Capri.Saw the turtles at Laganas and it was fantastic booked the trip from the beach ourselves 37 euros all in well worth the trip. The Water Park is fantastic and brand new. kids adored the slides it was well worth the money 32 euros for half day.excellent.Found George and his wife very helpful and safety deposit box on 6 euros per week excellent.Would go back anytime.Excellent holiday. warning the pool is deep for non swimmers and small children.hired jetski for 30 euros very good fun. The shipwreck is fake so dont bother wasting your money to go and see it.dont forget to bring a tea towel.shower head could do with being clipped on wall rather than holding by hand and washing at same time.

My and my boyfriend have just come back from Zante, we stayed at the St Dennis and it was lovely, our apartment was very clean, the maids change the bed sheets at least every other day. The pool area is nice with a snack bar right next to it which sells real nice food, we stayed round the pool nearly every day, would recommend the St Dennis to anyone coming to Tsilivi.

Lisa

Just returned from these beautiful apartments and would recommend them to anyone!

Julie C

hi were going to be staying at st dennis on the 16 oct for 2 weeks getting a bit worried by the comment below im getting married and have booked about 30 people so any info about st dennis would be greatly appreciated many thanks

Gill H

We thought the facilities offered in the apartment were very poor. What was sold to us as a two bedroom apartment, had no indoor living room, no comfy chairs, - just white plastic patio furniture. There was barely enough in the kitchen to make breakfast, - let alone a main meal. There were no tea towels/cloths/washing up liquid/soap. You were meant to go and buy it all from the on-site supermarket.
One of the light fittigs above our daughter's bed was live, and gave us an electric shock. There was a rusty pipe sticking out of the wall over the bath. The pathetic shower dripped miserably, and there were no rubbish bins in any rooms(except the loo for the loo roll), - not even the kitchen. It was however kept clean daily by the maids which was good. The pool was like 'children soup', and the smell of fried eggs and bacon filled the air for most of the day. George and his wife (the owners) looked completely pissed off every time I saw them, and his wife in particular was extremely unhelpful when we asked her to look after some video equipment after we had to check out, and before our coach came 5 hours later. She really was less than helpful.
There was fairly loud music/live bands from neighbouring bars until about midnight every night.
We were ripped off bigtime by First Choice Holidays, and paid well over the odds for what was a really mediocre apartment. Thank god we're home!
P.S. The Lazy Days Cruise run by First Choice Hols felt like being on a Car Ferry. Another money making venture on their behalf, and not much else.

Rachael H

Just returned from these beautiful apartments and would recommend them to anyone! We stayed in a 2 bedroom self catering on the top floor. They are simply furnished, have lots of space and great views over the pool and gardens. We didn't see anywhere we would rather have stayed.Beach is a five minute stroll and the tavernas and shops are on the doorstep. Our boys (8 and 6) loved it!!!!

Tracey L

in my opinion the st denis apartments are up there with the best in tsilivi. the pool was a lot safer than last year as the steps have all been mended. be careful as it is 3m deep and there isn't alot of shallow space ( i am a lifeguard and i could have done with a job there for the summer ). George the owner speaks better english than we do and is very helpful. salih the gardner is stunning to say the least but can't speak english unfortunately!! they all work very hard and i can recommend st denis to anyone. i am going back in sept!!

Vicky W

My boyfriend and I have just come back (29 June 2003) from 2 Weeks at St Dennis. We thought it was really good. We went with Cosmos and stayed in the brand new building in front of the apartments around the pool. We must admit we were a little disapointed when we found out we werent around the pool but our apartment was so nice we didnt' have any other reason to complain. The only downfall with the new apartments are there isn't any air conditioning and when its 45 degrees you wish you had it. You can hire fans though. The pool was nice and the people were really friendly. The beach is really nice and clean and you can see tiny fish swimming at the shore line. We went on the jet ski's and they were ace apart from the price (45 euros for 15 mins)!!

A definite must for young families and young couples!!

Dont go on trip with Cosmos to see the turtles and blue caves it was a waste of money book with local company. We went with cosmos and it was rubbish. We went to the shipwreck with Dionosis tours and its was fantastic and alot cheaper.

ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY

Sue & Paul

We have just returned from our stay at St. Denis apts (29 Sept 2002). Like most Greek accomodation these apts are very basic. The rooms are clean but the furniture is quite old and the hinges are in need of a bit of oil. We stayed in a suite which accomodates bed and breakfast only, but dont expect too much as this only consists of a fridge, kettle and very small amount of cutlery. The cleaners are efficient but they leave open the patio doors and windows after they have been in. The bathroom wasn't too good as the bath was not much bigger than the sink and there was nowhere to hang the shower head (We had to stand on the toilet and hold this for each other to enable us to shower). I must stress that what I am describing is a suite and not self catering. My sister had a self catering room that was fully equiped for this purpose. The gardens around the pool area were very nice and well kept, the pool was also nice except that there were no exit steps in the deep end. All residents complained about this to the rep but were told that the steps had been sent away to be mended weeks ago and were still wating for their return.(So be very careful) The girl at the poolside bar (Michelle) was very miserable, told everyone that this was her 3rd and last year running the snack area. She was unenthusiastis about any questions people asked her. The rep (Charlie) was nice and friendly, she was always there when promised. George the manager was nice and friendly too, always on hand with any local info and forever giving people the weather report. If you want the REAL nitty gritty about the resort ??? e-mail us.

Caroline F

We came back from the St Dennis Apartments last Sunday (18th Aug). Apartments were very nice as was the pool and gardens. The attached Supermarket was handy and the prices were the same as everyone elses on the resort. George who runs the supermarket is also responsible for "housing" you and sorting out your safety deposit boxes, fans and currency exchange. He was very helpful and friendly. He speaks excellent English and is your very own Michael Fish, reporting daily on the temperature!!! The only critisism we make is the breakfast facility. We booked B+B and was disappointed at what we were offered. We hoped to be given a choice, especially cooked English, but only were entitled to a roll, a portion of jam and butter, a glass of squash and a tea or coffee!!!! Not exactly mouth watering. You could buy an English breakfast and the cost of the "Continental"(???) ould be deducted. Also by booking B+B, we forfeited any Self Catering facilities. We only had a fridge, kettle, cups and saucers, teaspoons, knives (no forks or spoons) and side plates. So if you decided to Do It Yourself for brekkie, you couldnt!!! Didnt spoil our hol though. The Rep, Charlie, was fabulous. Very friendly. Was always on site on time and on the days she said she would be. Maid service was very good. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Philip C

The Apartments are very clean. Be careful when the maids clean the rooms that they lock the doors and windows. We were on the ground floor and after cleaning they left bathroom window open most days to dry the floor. However someone small could get in if they wanted. We got the point across to George that it was more non Greek people that we were worried about possibly getting in, and from then on everything was shut and locked properly. Be careful round the pool as whilst we were there a girl slipped on a set of steps that were not well fastened to the pool, and as a result grazed here chin badly and chipped her teeth. It is well advised to always get out at the graduated steps at the shallow end. It is a shame that the apartments do not have a room set aside for guests to use after they have checked out, as otherwise you have to book elsewhere if you have a night flight. It was okay for us, we met some nice folks who let us refresh ourselves before our evening flight. Don't get me wrong the apartments are excellent over all...just a few problems that could be easily sorted out. Michelle at the pool bar is very nice (and white, doesn't like the sun, so don't ask her why she is so white, it annoys her). If anyone sees a black female cat...she is 1 year old and pregnant. We fed her (room A2)and she has become fairly tame.. If you see her she answers to Paddy...please continue to feed her.

Anne-marie J

Just got back and we loved it here. George was nice but did very little to try and help us when we needed a room to stay in as we were not flying home until the night, but we managed to get somewhere to stay with no help from anyone else. The rooms were really clean and tidy and the pool was nice. Michelle who runs the pool bar was a really nice girl and she does some great food.
