Hi Helen, Dimitris, and everyone at the Pothos,

I have just returned (7th Aug) from a fantastic holiday at your apartments in Alykes with my son and two friends - we really enjoyed ourselves, and are already planning to return next year!   

Just one thing... my son left behind a treasured little toy (a cuddly monkey)  in our room (number 5) and misses it a lot.  If you have found it, I would be really grateful if you could send it on to us, and will happily reimburse the cost (it is beyond priceless to him!).   It really isn't his fault that his dozy mother forgot to check it had been safely packed away...  I've emailed the hellsbells address with my home address in England.

Plenty of room for parking right outside Pothos.

Hello there.  Myself, and family are arriving to stay at the Pothos on Thursday 7 August 2008.  We have decided to hire a car from the airport for the two weeks of the holiday (mainly because I like to get out and explore).  Now I am worried that there might not be anywhere to park at the Pothos?

In my opinion Pothos is suitable for all ages. There is a small seperate pool ideal for a paddling toddler. The main pool would be fine for the older children. I hope this is helpful.

   Thinking of having 2 weeks in Alykes Sept 2009 with my husband and our daughter,son-in-law and 3 grandchildren. When pricing the holiday, seems my daughter will have to have 2 seperate studios which won't be a problem, my eldest grandson can share with us anyway. I'm just wondering if Pothos is suitable for children aged 2, 5 and 10. Also can anyone tell me if there is a children's section to the pool?

Just come back from a glorious week staying at the Pothos Apartments  

The bar and pool area were superb, plenty of beds and space to lounge and the bar food was lovelly, a good mixture to cure those hunger pangs at lunchtimes  

Just got back yesterday from the best holiday of our lives. We already are suffering from withdrawals!! For anyone reading this who was, like me apprehensive about cost etc. Take it from me you wont be disappointed. The staff Dennis. Dimitri and Helen will welcome you like part of the family and will go out their way to make you welcome. Little Rina's a wee grafter and always cheery. Tha apartments may be basic but very clean and will cater for your needs. Alikes is an amazing resort with a beautiful beach within walking distance. Theres plenty to do and see. The train trips a must but be careful of the free wine as I found out to my cost Alikanas is a little livelier  resourt and within walking distance. Yes we like a lot of people will definitly be back. Miss it already.

Yes the rooms have aircon and it's at a reasonable rate. Any other questions let me know I have stayed there a few times.

Just got back from another wonderful holiday at Pothos. Thanks again Dennis, Dimitri, Helen and everyone there.

Lovely friendly place on the edge of town, so is nice and quiet.  Two things marred our experience - the "Pool Rules" were not enforced, which meant that our quiet breakfast times were interrupted by children playing in the pool before it was open ; and our apartment was not cleaned properly - especially the kitchen.  Oh and the cleaner kept leaving our door unlocked, thus invalidating our insurance.  Apart from that, it was good value for money.

Where do you start when you want to try and describe possibly the best week of your life?

I credit this to Pothos for being everything you could hope for and more.

The apartments contain everything you need for a self catering holiday. Plenty of room, lovely little balconies, peaceful views and are kept clean and tidy by the wonderful staff.

The pool area was never packed out or uncomfortable, the pool itself was beautifully kept and the nearby bar was perfect to nip into to get your beer o'clock drink!

I haven't even started on the staff!

By day you have the lovely Dennis, by night you have what I can only describe as the perfect hosts, Helen and Demetri! Totally made mine and my friend Sarah's holiday.
Both of them went out of their way to make us as comfortable and welcome as you could imagine.

Examples, I needed a hairdryer - Helen brought me her own from home to have for the week. Sarah wanted a Bloody Mary - Helen jumped on her scooter and drove to the supermarket to buy Tomato Juice as they'd just run out.

Demetri entertained us with possibly the worst version of Summer Nights' ever!!

You don't expect service this good on a holiday, especially not one you've done on a budget, but to actually GET the service - you can't put a price on that.

I can honestly say, hand on heart that if you choose to go to Pothos, you will NOT be disappointed. You'll be left wholly satisfied and completely depressed that you're having to leave.

If you go, make room in your case and let me know... I'm getting in it!

We have been staying at the Pothos for many years now and each year the hospitality and excellent service and accommodation continues.  In May, our party totalled 15 persons, all family and Voula, Dennis, Helen and Dimitri, yet again made our holiday so special.  The apartments are spotlessly clean and excellent snacks served in the bar and pool area.  Each year we recommend Pothos to more family and friends, and everyone has the same opinion on how good it is.  My parents stay at Pothos twice a year for three weeks and love every minute of it.  All three of my grandchildren, plus my sons and daughters all made up our party and for the first time visitors to Pothos, they too agreed what an excellent place it is.  Can't wait to get back next year and my lucky parents will be returning in September for another three weeks.

 Hi, dont know how this site works, but I just got back from a brilliantly relaxing week staying at the Pothos studios. I went alone for a relaxing break before the imminent birth of my baby. I was very impressed with the studios and Alikes itself, Everybody working in pothos does a fantastic job. I have not seen a cleaner pool and my room was cleaned regularly.

Hi to you all, stayed in studio 14, 7-21st June, our 2 weeks were wonderful fell in love with Alykes, one of the most relaxing holidays we've ever had beautiful view from our balcony and such a lovely family to spend a holiday with, we look forward to seeing you all again sometime

This was our second visit to Pothos and as last year we had such a good time we were hoping the return visit would live up to it. In fact it turned out to be even better. Dennis, Dimitris, Helen and the whole family (and Rena of course) made us feel very welcome as anybody who has visited before knows only they can do..!! I still don't know how they manage to do it but the place just makes you feel so relaxed and welcome you never want to leave.

If your thinking of booking to go here do it, we are a young-ish couple (30-28) who just want to take it easy on holiday and the Pothos's make this possible. The mix again was spot on with family's, couples (of all ages) and singles all enjoying their stay and passing on hints and tips of where they have been and where is good to go etc.

My favourite Cockerel was still there and cocking me along, We can't wait until our next visit which can't come around to soon.

 Thank you for another great week.Weather was a bit hit and miss, but the apartments and the views are still GREAT.The Full English Breakfast i had every morning was great and kept me going all day, apart from the odd pint or two from the bar   As always didnt want to leave,but hopefully back again in August.Once again thank you.

I really like it at the Pothos. I made lots of new friends and I'm going to e-mail Sarah. I liked Helen, Demetri, Dennis is funny and I love my Turtle you gave me. I will miss Roula. I played pool and almost won the competition. The pool if fantastic I swam every day and Dennis looks after it very well he makes sure its safe for us to swim in. Helen and Demetri make good cocktails. The food is really delicious and cheap. I really like the pizzas. My holiday at the Pothos was brilliant.( Chloe King aged 9).

Just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Pothos apartments. Helen, demetri, Dennis, Roula and staff were lovely. They made us feel welcome and relaxed. We were sad to leave and have rated this holiday as our best ever. The mozzies were alittle nasty but if you go prepared then I'm sure it won't be a problem. Thankyou  for the turtle you gave to Chloe she called it Pothos Roula. Sadly we didn't say goodbye to Helen and Demetri  so goodbye and good luck with your wedding. We'll send you some Golden Syrup shortly Helen we hope you enjoy it.

The pothos hotel was mint and so is everyone helen is awesome and well everyone is really :D helen makes great drinks :D

as usual, a fantastic time was had by all. it's lovely to see friends again year after year, apart from eddie who's a pain in the aa**e when he's drunk!

 Wow what can we say.....One of the best holidays we've had in a while if we could have stayed at the Pothos for another few weeks we would have done. Mr & Mrs Pothos, Dennis, Demitri and Helen couldn't do enough for you and Rena's cooking is excellent! Greek night was great with delicious food (thanks to Mr Pothos and his BBQ!) and entertainment for a good price. The salt flats don't smell and the chickens and cockerel's cocking aren't next door but as sound travels at night you can hear them for the first few hours before you get used to them then they fade into the warm summer nights! Town has enough good places to eat that you can try a differant TavernaRestaurant every night of a 2 week holiday. We are a young couple but the Pothos had all age groups staying and the Pothos and Alykes town catered well for everybody.

Hello Gail, just to answer your question.....we at the pothos are booked exclusively through manos, so you could go through your travel agent. if you can get a cheap flight (which believe me is hard to do lately) i might be able to sort out private accomodation close to our appartments. i hope this helps you.if you decide on going private you can contact me on my email address ... hellsbells_821@hotmail.com

We stayed at Pothos for two weeks in sept 2005, Hellen, Demitris, Dennis and Voula were fantastic hosts and as everyone else says could'nt do enough for you. The rooms are spacious and clean a bit basic, but hey they're all you need. Who wants to be cooking on holiday anyway. This was our first overseas holiday with our 5yr old and we were a little apprehensive but everyone at Pothos made sure we all had a great time. Pothos is a wonderfuly well run family business and they made our first holiday a fantastic one.

Just returned from Pothos. Had a brilliant three weeks. The studios are by far the best we've stayed in in Greece and the islands - so spacious and spotlessly clean. Whenever we needed hot water it was there.True, cooking facilities are limited but there are plenty of cheap and good places to eat in Alykes. Everyone at Pothos is so friendly and helpful. It's no wonder people return time and time again! Many thanks to you all for a fantastic holiday! Erica and Graham

  Agree  about   Manos  flights!. European  Airlines!. We  ended  up  with  a  long  delay  and  a  stop  in  Italy. 1st  time  to Pothos. Dennis was nice!, nothing  to  much  trouble ha!. Staff  friendly, rooms  typical  greek standard but spacious!.Nearly  ran  a german  over on way to Blue  caves!,  he  was  saying  road  ends here. Road never  ended  there 15  years  ago  ha!.No what  people  mean  about  cockeral!.Reckon its  a plant  so you  have  to get  drunk  to  sleep ha!

Pothos was okay .All the crew were nice!. Expensive though for just a pool  and nothing else. Views to mountains nice!. Salt lakes  smelt a bit smelly. We got bored  and hired a car which was nice.Hubbys gets up early all year!, so did not get on with early  wake up calls from the chickens next door ha!,Beach was nice!,but trips were  expensive. Happy hols.

Had a late booking, and  found accomadation basic but okay.Hosts were nice!.Wont book with Manos again because of delays on plane that was  ready for scrap yard.Main town okay but be aware of  traffic and  horses!.Booked on reviews from this sight.Not our cup of tea .But  nice island to explore if you go north and south, Found nice bar in Alykanas called Mill Bar.Go there.

Me and my parents  stayed in the pothos last september and it was faboulous my Mum and dad are there at the moment and have said nothing has changed the staff are as friendly and it is still as cheap as ever. I will be returning next year with my Fiance and parents to get married.

  Hi all!, Not cheap old Zante anymore. Weather ws fab,Pothos was okay. Hire a car to see better parts of island,Mountains look fab!, salt lakes an eyesore and smelly.Resort has many places to eat of an average standard.Spent loads to much ha!,Vassilikos was nice.2 weeeks to long

 A fabulous 2 weeks holiday!!! Pothos is a special place run by lovely people. Our sincere thanks go to Dimitris, Helen, Dennis, Voula and family who work so hard to ensure that everyone was well looked after.

The accomodation is of good standard with terrific views of the surrounding countryside. Only minutes from the main town with its beach and restaurants.

 

Pothos guarantees a laid back and relaxing holiday for all the family.

this was definatly an awesome holiday!!!! i had a great time. the apartments and pool were superb! we made some friends for life too. thanx to helen, dimitris, dennis and family for their hard work in looking after us (including when my sister hannah needed the doctor!) events their were great especially the bbq and greek night! don't slate the chickens - there cool and made you feel like you were in the countryside as well as by the sea! this holiday was non stop fun (we all loved lilo time!!!!)

Hello to Voula, Helen, Dennis and Dimetrios,

I don't understand what's going on.  We stayed at the Pothos for 2 weeks in June/July and had a fantastic time. The staff (Dimitri, Helen, Denis, Voula) were superb, helpful, friendly, they couldn't have done more for us. The pool was spotless, Denis cleaned and checked it everyday.

i agree i think it is one of the best places ive been on holiday and i hope to go agin ingnor what the other idiots are saying it is the best place to go
