Alan B  (24 June 2006)

Excellent restaurant, superb food and wine, and a beautiful quiet setting, one to go to again and again!

Michael D  (16 June 2006)

We ate here on our last night in Kalamaki and was one of the best restaurants we had tried. Staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic. My girlfriend had the special which was beef stifado and was truly amazing and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Reasonable price too! Only wish we had eaten there earlier in the week then we could have revisited!!

Yiannis M  (24 August 2005)

Great place to eat. excellent food, service and price.

Lynne J  (09 June 2005)

Another must visit restaurant, we were recommended this by the person who ferries you back & for to The Cave Bar, and what a brilliant recommendation!

Keef & Jan  (25 December 2004)

We are gutted if it is true that Paris Taverna is up for sale.

It has got to be the best in Kalamaki.

Glenys H  (11 September 2004)

This was our fifth visit to Kalamaki. We always eat in Paris as the setting is glorious, staff friendly and courteous and food wonderful. We have never had a bad meal and the staff remembered us from previous years. The resteraunt is immaculate and prices very cheap. Try the drunken chicken and yoghurt with honey. I am living on this now I am home!!!

Paul S  (02 September 2004)

Ate there twice during our stay. Food, service & price were all excellent. We rated it a very close second to Michaelo's. Highly recommended.

Linz -  (31 August 2004)

a nice place 2 eat friendly people and great food!

Joanne E  (24 August 2004)

THE BEST place to eat!! Returned there many times this year, as well as last year.

Fillos L  (27 July 2004)

great fun, Trevor and spamos. first the airport, yes Trevor i agree with most of your comments, the greeks have got 2 realise that they cant do things like they did 20-30 years ago. they mone every year about less people are coming 2 there island, but the fact is they have 2 change, some of the owners know this and have changed, but they all must. they voted 2 be in europe, lets have european standards. please know make the the pipes bigger so we can put that loo paper in the correct place.
About Paris Trevor you must have had a bad night. in the years i have used Paris i have had some ok meals, but most times the food and service is very good, on par with Michalos. I must agree with Spamos.
Who the hell mentioned Brewers fair. You are in Greece. What people eat in Brewers Fair anyway, you shoulnt even comment on food.

Trevor H  (23 July 2004)

Hi Spamos

Thanks for the comments.....I had simply stated what I had found. I dont think it is difficult to ascertain soggy overcooked vegetables. It does not take great skill to cook a bit of cauliflower.....when they get that wrong there is not much hope for anything else.

Regarding the airport...I have travelled the world extensively and been in much worse airports than Zante. What annoys me is that the Greeks love to make plenty of money but dont want to put any back into the infrastructure...it is a bit of a case of 'biting the hand that feeds you". That airport has been like that for probably 20 years at least with no improvements. It was only the holdiday companies that forced the shelter outside in the last couple of years.....the airport did not even want to allow that to go ahead!!!

Jenna M  (23 July 2004)

FANTASIC HAD CHICKEN MEXICAN NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER!!

MY PARTNER HAD THE STEAK IN PEPPER SAUCE AND IT WAS WONDERFUL

WENT BACK A SECOND TIME !!

Spamos   (22 July 2004)

All comments are individual as you say Trevor and that is how Zante is, individual, so you take it as you see it including the airport!!!!!! What did you expect, a terminal like Gatwick!!!!! Everyone does have different standards in food including those that eat at places like Brewer's Fayre which does not include myself. Unfortunately you probably don't appreciate good food and excellent surroundings when it is thrown at you!!!!

Trevor H  (21 July 2004)

Just read Matthews comments. Must have had the same meal as me!!! Everyone has their own standards....some people think Brewers Fayre is good but personally II think this restaurant is all show and no go!!!! As mentioned below---where would you get fish fingers for a starter---not in one place in the UK I bet. I must look for the rose coloured spectacles at Zante airport (beyond about 500 people waiting for cases, cos they are too bloody greedy to spend the money on the airport)...........just another little observation{S>

Spamos   (19 July 2004)

We have been coming to Kalamki for years now and this is one of our best places to eat. Try the Saganaki prawns, they are delicious. I am sorry to hear that Matthew did not have a good meal here. I had the Beef steak with pepper sauce and both times it was lovely. The surroundings, food, service and price are all excellent.

Matthew B  (14 July 2004)

Came once. First impression was good. We were welcomed by a polite waiter and shiown to our table. No problems at all with service and the atmosphere and surroundings were lovely. Food however was poor. I had steak which was dry and not cooked particularly well and the pepper sauce was also not tasty. Did not return.

Trevor H  (06 July 2004)

Went here just one night. Nice location and garden type restauraut. Food is average to below average. Ordered mixed starter for two. Loads of not fresh squid and fried bits and pieces--bit greasy and unimaginitive. Even had two fish fingers on the plate - now they were having a laugh. Ordered fillet steak which was nice. However the pepper sauce was a water/cornflower cheap crappy concoction. Came with cauliflower that had been cooked for about 2 weeks. My wife had a pizza which was so greasy it simply slid down your throat. I',m afraid there are no chefs at this restaurant...just people who pretend.

Keef & Jan  (02 July 2004)

We waited 12 months to go back to Paris for a meal and when we went to Kalamaki on the 17th June 2004 are first evening meal was at Paris Taverna. It was worth the wait. It was great to see Syki, Lambi and Jorgos again. Pedros the boss has kept the standards very high. We had a 14 days at Kalamaki and we ate in Paris 10 of them. The food is fantastic and the service superb. The young lads Syki and Lambi are very attentive to the customers needs and always on the look out to attend the table. Some people may think they are being rushed, but it is in my opinion, just superb service.
Looking forward to 14th June next year when we go back again.

Vicky B (15 February 2004)

Does anyone have any pictures of the younger staff

Wendy P  (24 October 2003)

Another lovely taverna in Kalamaki. Thought this place looked great from the outside, and inside(as inside as you got) was just as good!! The food was good, service effcient and price great! Would recommend for a visit.

Shazza   (01 October 2003)

Absolutely lovely. Went there on our first night and went back again on our last night. Waiter service excellent, food gorgeous. This is one of the best restaurants in Kalamaki, recommend this one to anyone. They also play Greek music in there, which is even better. When I go out for a meal in Greece I like to feel like I am there, in other words not have pop music on. Great atmosphere - well done to all the staff.

Michael R  (24 September 2003)

Yet again the food, service and friendliness at this restaurant is second to none. One of the best peppered fillet steaks I have had anywhere. Thankyou

Susan A  (23 September 2003)

Ater one week of diabolical food at our hotel we ate at Paris Really good service nice and clean and the food was hot and very nice.We recomend you try this one.

Derek   (22 September 2003)

Excellent service and good value meals, nice friendly staff who had good humour.

Kev H  (15 September 2003)

Very nice pretty setting. Possibly the most "Greek" feeling of all the restaurants we visited. Food was very good. Place is spotlessly clean. Waiters were charming and service was excellent. Only downside was that it attracted pesky moggies who would sit and beg by the side of your table. I don't mind this but the missis hates them. Other diners encourage the cats, waiters shoo them off, cats come back, can't win! But we did eat here twice and I was up for a third visit but was outvoted cos it was a fair trek from our apartments.

Hoops   (15 September 2003)

Very good. Normal selection but service and quality of the food was great!! Puddings good too. Visited twice and both occasions pleased us!!

Andrew A  (18 August 2003)

We went there the first night and it was nice. Unfortunately we didn't go back because we wanted to try other places.

Sandra P  (28 July 2003)

We were big Paris fans. In 2000 we were in kalamki for 1 week and visited Paris almost every night. Everything was excellent. What a disappointment on our first night there this time, the food was very average, very small portions . Still a nice setting but once was enough

Lynne N  (26 July 2003)

Went to Paris twice, food was lovely, no problems with service, great place and lovely setting.

Emma F  (19 July 2003)

definatly the best restaurant in kalamaki!couldn't fault the food, service or price. All of the waiters were friendly and we ate there3/14 nights as it was our favourite place! the atomsphere, location and setting are wonderful and we had 3 very enjoyable meals here. Definatly recommend pizza for 2 if u have a smaller appetite, the chips were great too and cheesy bread for starteris lush. Definatly well worth a visit! & the price is good too! well worth the money!

Barry H  (15 July 2003)

Spent most of my time dining in Paris wishing i was across the road in Merlis. We went in as 2 families and were seated outside where we were constantly showered with bugs , they were crawling all over the table flying on to you and hitting the overhead fans and landing stunned all around you and these were big multi coloured bugs.
Had to ask for drinks to be refreshed twice and on one occasion we were given drinks we did not order.I had the tomato salad as a starter( the only starter on the table), and it was exactly that, it was a tomato on a saucer sliced into about 6 slices......nothing else ! I think it was around 2.50 /3 euros for that tomato!!! The beef strogonof had no onions, mushrooms etc, just chunks of alledged beef in gravy with a bit white rice. I had the mousaka which i admit was quite tasty, as well as a pasta dish that was commented on by one member of our party as being quite pleasant, the other plates were thought to be quite bland and we had to wait an eternity for the bill which we wanted rather quickly before we were eaten alive by bugs. For some reason this was the only place that we were troubled by bugs and we ate outside on quite a few occasions.

Keef & Jan  (04 July 2003)

Every year we keep going back to Kalamaki and every year Paris is our favourite Taverna. The food is delicious, we have never had a bad meal there yet, the waiters a good laugh and very smart and efficient.
10/10 for them everytime.

Sarah B  (22 June 2003)

Service very good, staff very friendly. The food was very satisfing and great value for money. Try the chicken - very succulent!! Music was traditional and very enjoyable.

Emma M  (12 June 2003)

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! For ambience this one wins, looks great you kind of expect the food to let it down, but no it was fantastic the whole was through. I suggest the meze also for starters, a real taste of Greece. Price was good too.

F G  (09 June 2003)

Lovely setting, great service and good food. We arrived quite late in the evening at this restaurant but this wasn’t a problem for the waiters at all. My boyfriend and I tried the mixed meze for our starters and it was absolutely mouth watering, and plentiful!! I then had the mixed grill Souflaki (spelling not great?) and my boyfriend ate a chicken dish (can’t remember the name) with a delicious sauce. We were full but decided on the previous dishes this would be a good place to try baklava for the first time, and we weren’t disappointed, although we didn’t manage to finish it but not through want of trying!!!!!!! Located near the livelier bars this restaurant makes perfect dining for those wanting to go one for a drink into the evening.

Karen C  (27 May 2003)

well served and friendly staff food excellent

Keef & Jan  (20 May 2003)

We are going back to Kalamaki in June and looking forward to going to the best taverna in Kalamaki. Our first meal in Kalamaki will be at Paris, as will most meals for the fortnight. We have never had a bad meal there in the 4 years we have been going to Kalamaki.
Can't wait. Roll on June 19th

Eddie K  (02 October 2002)

Great Taverna on the main Kalamaki road. Had my favourite starter of the week here - Prawn Saganaki - even bought a Greek cookbook for the recipe!!

Rob J  (03 September 2002)

the waiters were very friendly and the meals were excellent. my daughter loved the chocolate cake.

Ann P  (23 August 2002)

sorry got carried away...nico's brother is pedro....really nice men

Ann P  (23 August 2002)

Always good food in here, and good service. If you go to the cave bar, you will see Nico, whos brother is owner of paris......so alike, nico just needs a wig and tash.....well worth a visit to paris and to cave bar.

Phil, C  (16 August 2002)

One of our favourites. The Sakanaki was superb, the Chicken Paris gorgeous and the Souvlaki hardly fitted on the plate. Nice ambience (despite the thunderstorm) and the (Greek) waiters were very polite and friendly. One of the cheaper restaurants too.

Spam S  (14 August 2002)

Each time we go to Kalamaki, we always spend half of our evenings in Paris. It is great food and the waiters ARE GREEK!!! What language were you speaking Mr Barnes, cos it wasn't Greek!!!! Are you from our planet we call E A R T H!!!!

Kirsty M  (05 August 2002)

Food was really good. Staff were second to none they were so friendly. As far as prices go we could not fault them as they were so cheap.

Caroline W  (27 July 2002)

Roger Barnes what ARE you talking about are you sure that you went to the right place? Because when we went last week, we went there every single night and all the waiters were GREEK and they were all very polite throughout the entire evening, the food was gorgeous esp the pork in wine sauce so you haven't got a clue what you are talking about.

Tim F  (25 July 2002)

We visited about 4 times to paris, food was excellent and the service was brilliant every time, not just for us but everyone got the same treatment every night, the staff work really hard but dont get stressed and give you a hard time like in England! try the pork chops-stunning!!!!

Lee M  (24 July 2002)

spent 14 of 14 nights eating there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jonathan V  (22 July 2002)

Second time at Kalamaki. Food was good - two adults and three children all found well cooked and tasty meals from a better than average menu. Food was well prepared and the fillet steak was excellent (opinion of both myself and my wife). I do a lot of cooking at home (hobby chef), have done so for 10 years + and set high standards. Didn't try all the menu, but what we did try was good. Although not particularly cheap, the quality was worth it. Staff curteous at all times, not only reserving 'our table' in advance, but also presented us with complementary puddings as a gesture from the staff. Ate there three times. Lobster saganaki excellent. But again... TRY THE FILLET STEAK! (very very good indeed). Last year we thought Michaelo's was quite good - however in comparison, go to Paris - you won't be disappointed.

Julie P  (07 July 2002)

Visited this place after all the fab reviews, lovely setting, nicely dressed waiters, but,I agree, rice and tinned veg with everything! (spoiled the chicken fillet with mushrooms, which was the "speciality of the day".) Not a patch on the fabulous Mikaelo's!

Darren P  (01 July 2002)

Again I found the waiters a little stand offish, which is not typical of the waiters in Zante. I agree with the comment about the cheese pies, lovely! However, my main meal, the chops were nice but the chips were awful! Also, what is this Greek fascination with serving rice and tinned veg with everything?!

Kat   (29 June 2002)

Overall, this was our fave restaurant. A detrimental comment was made lower down about the waiters - they were absolutely fab. Nothing was too much trouble - and they DID serve with a smile (probably something to do with our group being happy, non-demanding and being in Zakynthos to enjoy ourselves, not to complain and criticise everything we came across!!!). Anyhow, we sampled the chicken, beef, pork, rabbit, pasta and traditional meals and they were cooked to perfection - not a tough bit of meat in sight. They offer a large range of wines and they let you taste the wine before you buy, so if you get an awful wine (see comments below), IT'S YOUR OWN FAULT. The cheese pies are to die for, but careful - they are very rich.

Roger B  (27 June 2002)

If you want a smile and welcome to get you into the restaurant then try here but don't expect one once you sit down!!!!!! Food poor quality especially the chicken. Pork chops - wonderful. Not much sign of any Greek waiters - don't know where they come from but they don't speak the lingo.

Warren H  (10 June 2002)

Sorry didn't like this one. Wine was awfull and I didn;t finish my Pizza.

Jenna G  (05 June 2002)

just wana say the food is great we nearly ate in there evry nite coz it woz so gud! and if the staff from the paris look on here i just wana say a big hello and i fancied the 1 who i caught with his shirt open very niceeeeee!

Jenna G  (04 June 2002)

Very good overall, good service and food! will definetly visit again if we come back to kalamaki AND THE WAITERS ARE VERY FANCIABLE!

J P  (29 April 2002)

Can't understand what these people are complaining about!! Far and away the best restaurant in Kalamaki - we tried several others but kept coming back to this one. I particularly liked the fact there was no-one stood on the street trying to drag you in. Lovely setting, lovely food, waiters busy busy but always polite, and let's face it, sometimes you have to queue to get the best.

Michelle W  (13 March 2002)

Been there for two years running now, and along with the point break cafe the paris has to be the best restaurant in kalamaki. We never had anything but the best there. Michelle, St. Helens.

Clare   (27 October 2001)

oh but the wine is very strong though. 3 glases later and Bart leant over the table and said "Clare i feel a bit drunk" so watch out!!

Clare   (27 October 2001)

my boyfreind and i ate here 3 times as we loved it there. there was a great athmosphere, great food, great surroundinds, great service oh and lovely entertainment with the kittens. my boyfreind and i cant wait to go back net year.

Mary Y  (12 October 2001)

Excellent service, excellent food - and piping hot. Deserves more than one visit.

Ray N  (11 October 2001)

After two weeks of cruising tavernas my wife and I both agreed this was the best in Kalamaki, the lamb kleftiko was superb.

Andrew D  (30 September 2001)

Ate here 3 times. Each time the service was excellent and attentive. Worth paying for the Fillet Steak - the beef steak is an off-cut. Tremendous restaurant, get there early since there are queues from 8-9.30, such is it's popularity.

Dee H  (02 September 2001)

Excellent food, ate there 5 times, never had a bad meal. Fillet steak melts in the mouth. Well worth paying the little extra. Couldn't fault the service either.

Odette S  (30 August 2001)

We were 4 adults (2 of us eldery people) and a 6-year-old girl, we were first told to wait to be seated and after 5 mins a rude "boss-looking" waiter came and told "sorry we don't have table for 5" and started welcoming other guests. We were very surprised and went to Break Point Bar where got a wonderful friendly service.

Steve H  (08 August 2001)

Great meal, great sevice and at a great price!!!!!!! Harborne and Walker Family

Susanne Z  (05 August 2001)

Extremely snobish staff, we couldn't even pick our own table. Music was too loud, food average. Nice garden, but that was about the only nice thing there.

Mike T  (30 July 2001)

The best in Kalamaki. Fantastic food, excellent service, excellent prices.
