Hi every1 Working at the oscar and every1 me and my brother met. Really enjoyed my time spent there from 27/08/04 - 10/09/04. Netty was brilliant. the apartments were really clean although the cleaners could get a bit snotty if you stayed in bed after 12. I wish i was still there and would consider goin back in the future. If any1 wants to contact me who I met my e-mail address is steven_upton_001@hotmail.com.
This is james I like to thank all the scousers at Oscars from the 02/09/04 10/09/04 what a phat time. The nightlife was roody poo 2 true. Smashed every night. costes is a pimp. U know girls love fat c**k! Nikos was too up tight. Netty was the fizzle nizzel my shiznizel 4rizzel thanx 4 looking after us on the last night. Nay said go fish!
Swimming pool was phat. I`m a master at lilo surfing. shish as got nothing on me. Gloria esterfan look-a-like had a phat ass u know who u r.
Alex was the true pimp so don`t get a big head costes.
Peace out love you all snappers crew 04 on tour Nottingham 4ever!!
Just returned from two weeks at the Oscar 19 Aug - 2 Sep. Apartments are cleaned six days a week and towels changed twice or three times a week. Couldn't fault the accommodation, basic but very clean. Lovely pool area with plenty of sunbeds. The only down side is that it's a 40 minute walk to the beach and a good 20 minute walk to the start of the main strip - not much fun in the scorching heat and beware of the road, it's really busy and no pavements until you get half way down! Not much fun when you are pushing a buggy. A courtesy bus runs from the hotel at 10.30 a.m., 10.45 and 14.45 p.m. to the beach and then back again five minutes later, so if you want to stay on the beach longer than 3.00 p.m. a long walk back is in store or a taxi for 6 euros. No courtesy bus in the evening. Laganas itself is very busy on the main strip but there are plenty of nice restaurants in the back streets which are much quieter. The Acropolys and Yiannis both have good food. Had a great holiday, weather was fantastic and accommodation good, but wouldn't stay at Oscar again because it's too far from beach, especially with a young child.
Stayed in the Oscar Apartments from the 12th - 19th August. Oscar was quite far out from the main street but we used to catch a taxi. Rooms at the Oscar were clean but the neighbours were a pain 17 going on 70 and we couldnt talk or put our music on as there was a door attached to the other room. But apart from that it was really good. Connor who are you! Michelle
Us 2 Yorkshire lasses stayed at Oscar from 28th July this year for 1 week. The nighlife is fantastic, but Oscar is too far away if that's what floats your boat!
Would definitely come back to Laganas, as the people are great and really friendly, but wouldn't come back to Oscar I'm afraid! Costs 6 euros for a taxi to practically anywhere on the strip, so not too bad, but be prepared for a long walk if not!
Netty is FAB, one of the lasses and a great listener (!), Costas and Nikos on the desk are ok I suppose! And Demitris the barman does some mean cocktails!
Would recommend this hotel for families, but for the young party goers like us you really need somewhere closer to the strip!!
can i have some prices for in may

HI, WE WENT TO THE OSCAR ON THE 24TH OF JUNE FOR TWO WEEKS MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF AND OUR TWO BOYS ADAM AND CALUM , HI TO NETTY WHO WAS VERY NICE WE HAD A GREAT TIME WE MET SOME LOVELY PEOPLE WE ALSO ENJOYED ZANTE A MUST IS HIRING A BOAT AT KERI BAY FOR A FEW HOURS TO SEE THE CAVES AND VISIT THE SECLUDED BEACH THERE , HOTEL WAS CLEAN AND COSTA,S AND NICOLETTE WERE VERY NICE WE ARE GOING BACK NEXT YEAR AS THE KIDS WANT TO AS WE DO , LAGANAS WAS ABOUT 20MINS WALK AWAY GREAT FOR FAMILIES UP UNTIL 10-30 THEN BACK TO THE OSCAR FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT AND A FEW DRINKS WITH THE FRIENDS WE MADE A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL OF US MARTHA LONGMUIR
Hey Everyone! I stayed in the Oscar appartments this year. It was amazing fun and Netty is the best fun on the island(I will never forget the showers in Cheezy Bay and all my friends have seen the pics lol)Anyone going for the clubbin an drinkin has to go to Black and White especially on Mondays and Wednesdays for the best foam parties on the island. I will be back next year but with a lot more man power! Luv ya Netty xx!
i stayed at the Oscar from 8th - 15th and it was the best holiday i have eva had so far. im only 15 but although there were many children there at the time the entertainment was top from Netty - we love ya lots - rememba wen ya broke ya toe?? comin from a child i wud say if ya gpoin 2 the main strip - go by taxi defo!! we got maid service everyday but 1. i definatly loved oscar and if in cud i would defo come bak next year.
we stayed at the oscar between 8th july to 15th and its the third time that we have been to zakynthos, we can honestly say that the oscar is the best appartments we have stayed in, it even had shower curtains. the pool is fantastic if you have children and the snack bar as a mean cheese and mushroom omelette and is very reasonable in price. the staff are very nice and presentable, especially demitri the bar man, who serves a nice pint in a frozen glass. the place is ideal for families but not so good for the headbanging type who like a good party, it will cost you 5 euro's to the main part of the town and 5 euro's back, not to bad.
Hi im netty the entertainer at the oscar thanks to everyone who put nice things i try my best ! the appartments are very clean and friendly it is a walking distance of 30 min i like to party but its good to be away from the hustle and bustle when you want sleep there are lovely resturants nearby i do the entertainment in the day and in the evening and when everyone joins in we have loads of fun.to everyone who has been and gone thankyou its been a pleasure and to those who are on there way look forward to meeting you all xx
Hey Gemma, were you one of the two Scouse girls who help us geordie lads win the quiz ? If so thanks....xx Hope you enjoy your trip back to laganas !!

Us three Geordie lads had a great week in Zante staying here. It's about 30 minutes stroll to main street but extremely well maintained, brochure photo's don't do this place justice....!
Great friendly staff especially Neti (The brummie sounding entertaier - though she's not brummie) who does more than our rep's did !!!! Aslo Dimitri at the bar. More Metaxa 7 stars please with a B52 chaser (on the house as always).
NETI... didn't reaslise you and some of the others went out after your quiz nights and partied till 5am... We would have came along !!!
Hello also to the 2 Scouse girls. Thanks for letting us win the quiz ! Hope the champagne (appletize) didn't make you ill.....

Can somebody PLEASE tell me how far away the beach, main strip etc is??? I'm staying next door to the Oscar Hotel and all the reviews on this page tell me different things!! Is it 20mins walk? 40 mins? An hour?
3 lads from Newcastle staying here for a week from 24th June. Any single ladies going who fancy meeting up....?
We have just returned from a week in the Oscar aprtments and we had a fabulous time. The apartments are situated back of the main road just outside the resort. This means a 30ish minute stroll into the main resort or a two minute taxi ride for a modest 5 euros. The main resort part of Laganas is very busy and noisy, great at night, but the quietness of the Oscars location through the day more than copensated for the little bit of effort having to be made in the evening. The staff at the hotel are brilliant, very helpful and friendly. The apartment was cleaned every day and were of a high standard for Greek self catering accomodation. Throughout the holiday I never heard any complaints. The pool area is good and the snack bar very reasonable. The staff were there to see us all off on our return home and I wish them all well for the future.
Visted the Oscar in May last year, me and four other friends. Location was great as it was not right beside the busy resort. Within walking distance of Laganas (15 mins approx) Oscar food was wonderful from the snack bar, pool and apartment exactly like you saw them in the brochure. Cleanliness was A1 apartments cleaned 6 days our of seven
The hotel was bril! The staff were so friendly and remembered us after four years! It was our third time there and was fantastic. Good distance to the beach and Livadi taverna/restaurant was amazing! The greeks are so nice!
Where is this hotel in regards to the beach and main bars (Cosy Corner area).
We returned from the Oscar on Thursday 7th August, and had a great time. The hotel was spotless and very clean, and the staff did not stop working all day.
The only down thing was the entertainment rep, employed by the hotel, did not have the get up and go factor. The Mr. OScar night was great, well done guys. Also the Greek night was great.
The best restaurant we went to was Jimmy's on the main road into town, we also liked Palataki and Paradise.
We got horse and cart back from town, price was 15 Euro's. They will ask for more, but 15 is roughly right, we tired for 10 but got no-where. last years price was 10 Euros.
The owner Costa is great, and so is Dimitri.
We went Oscar last year, and they remembered us, also at the restaurants we went to they remebered us, and the kids got free ice-cream
My youngest daughter cried on our last night, as she did not won't to come home.
we wil go back, but not next year.
We (three adults & three children 14, 9 & 7) had two really good weeks at the Oscar. We returned last Sunday (3.8) and would love to go back. The studios are spotlessly clean (pat on the back for the maids), the pool and garden area are well maintained. The only fault we found was the tennis court & bats were pretty rubbish and I must be truthful the owner's wife was a real misery!!! Otherwise all the staff were brillant and couldnt do enough for you. The town centre is about a 20 minute walk, near enough to enjoy the nightlife, try Cocktails & Dreams bar, but far enough away to relax during the day. Paradise & Lavadi restaurants on the Laganas road are the two best restaurants we found.
Hi. My boyfriend and I are going to the Oscas apts in September this year. But the reviews seemed a little mixed some thought it was great though other terrible! I am 18 and my boyfriend is 19 we really are looking for ward to going. so is it close the beach? i read it was 10mins away and so is the resort centre? is this really the case or does it take 30mins?? what about taxis? easy to get? and do they still run the free bus?? please get back to me Jenniferallan16@hotmail.com thankyou!
We are going to Oscar on 14/8. 2 kids girl aged 11 and boy aged 10. Anyone else be there with kids of around same age?
I am trying to upload some pictures but this site won't let me!!
If anyone is interested e-mail me: tdavies@mazak.co.uk
is there any 13/14 yr olds goin 2 the osacar on 24 july
Hi its us! Tracey,n Alisha (We are the Blackpool family).Just got back today, Remember BBMAK,s Garys crowd? Totally agree, good hotel but the airport was a total disgrace(pits). Can contact us on derek26@breathe.com for more conversation.
Arrived back yesterday after 2 weeks at the Oscar.
All the staff are very friendly, (Costas, Nikos, Denise & Dimitri)
They had a young swedish girl called Caroline who was doing the entertainments for the kids during the day and adults of a night but she left under a bit of a cloud on our last day so not sure what is happening now.
A personal opinion here now - the breakfast (for B&B) is absolute tosh!!! All you get is bread and jam, fruit, yoghurt and some awful cereals. You can't even get toast (you have to pay)!!!
The hotel is set in rather a very quiet location some 40 minute walk away from the beginning of the main strip - you then have another 10 minute or so walk to the beach (depending on how long you spend browsing in shops!!)
The hotel does run a curtesy bus but on at 10:00, 10:30, 13:00 and 14:30 they could have done a roaring trade if they offered a taxi service of a night but I suppose that is their way of keeping you at the hotel.
Dimitri the bar man is great fun (he does a mean Chocolate Dream cocktail!!)
The rooms are very, very clean - they are cleaned 6 days a week and the maids are very efficient.
The pool is great - goes up to 2.6 metres deep and the shelf is very dramatic!! The kids loved it. Plenty of sunbeds - you could still get one at lunchtime - but then again it was very quiet when we were there.
Apparently Direct Holidays are having trouble selling all the rooms so the hotel are looking at other companies to fill spaces - we had one week of around 10 rooms taken up by some Swedish guests.
There are some really nice tavernas nearby - the Palataki on the corner by the Oscar does a mean kleftiko!! There is Jimmy's just down the road and I heard some good reports about the Pie Shack (opposite water park) and also the Paradise.
There is also a cheap takeaway opposite Jimmys if you want a cheap snack as the pool snack bar can get a bit pricy eating there everyday (and it closes at 7pm!)
Beer at the hotel is €2.30 for an Amstel and €3.40 for a long drink although they do have an happy "hour" from 18:30-20:00.
All in all it was a great holiday - all the guests got on really well and the weather was good (after the initial first 4 days)!!
Will put on some pictures when developed
If anyone wants any more info please ask alizda174@yahoo.co.uk
Hi all. It's Woody! I used to rep the Oscar (2000) if anyone wants any info you can email me at woodyinzante@hotmail.com and I'll be pleased to help.
Theresa
There is a kettle and toaster in the apartment.
The studio's are quite spacious, friends of ours had one and they were pleased with it.
Enjoy your holiday - The Oscar staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help.
Hi I'm going to the Oscar Aparthotel in May and was wondering if they have a kettle and toaster in the accomodation and what the studio apartments are like. thanks for any info
If anyone is leaving Manchester on a Thursday flight, can they please let us know if the room is ready available straight away after checking in at the Oscar.
On the return journey home, what time does the coach pick you up at the hotel.
They do have safety boxes at the Oscar, but we can't remember what the price was.
The Oscar also changes English money as well as Euro's at the hotel.
Do they have safety deposit boxes at the Oscar?
How much are they?
Oscar hotel was ok, it would have been better if they lived up to their reputation to what the brochure informed. there were no entertainment from 23/10/02, we were told we were told we would be getting a replacment but we didd'ent. We were there from 17/10/02 till 31/10/02, we one of the last to leave the hotel before it closed it's dore for the winter and was still charged 30 euro to stay in our room as we was not being picked up untill 3am in the morning, we have made comlantes to Direct Holidays along with other people from the Hotel, the kids had to get out of the pool at 6pm, the staff were ok the first week but after that they dident care, we had no clean towells for 3 day's and no room clean, when the room's wre cleaned they left the bathroom window open' so if you were out in the day anyone could get into the room. We wont be using the Osar again and we wont recomendit to anyone. if anyone was there when we was our email is nd012b5085@blueyonder.co.uk. to all the kids that was there thanks for being so polite. Doree & Neville Daw.
just got bk from laganas. oscars was a top hotel! friendly staff and cheap beer, 1.90 euros for half a litre of lager!!! we went at end of season so not much entertainment but was good at beginning of week. pool was clean as was the apartments. football pitch was a good idea. food was also good with a very convieniant snack bar. only thing was a woman (i think it was costas wife) threatend to chuck anyone out of hotel if they jumped in the pool!!! if anyone was there from 20th to 28th october u will remember all the kids jumpin in and wen she came to ave a go at us one of the dads jumped in n drenched her. would recomend this hotle to ne 1. LADERZ LEE if u was there from 20th to 28th leave a msg on ere or e-mail at swelllee@hotmail.com
Just got back from The Oscar yesterday had a brilliant holiday. The Hotel and pool are spotlessly clean and all the staff are very helpful and pleasant. The snack bar is also very good quality and value for money so you dont have to venture out at lunch time which is a good thing if you dont want to walk miles to the first snack bar. In the evening there are a few very good restaurants near by but they are only open at night, the first one The Palataki is excellent as is the Paradise but thats a bit further down the road. We thought the road was dangerous during the day never mind after dark so its best to take a taxi into town for all the bars and action. There is something on at the oscar every night though usually starting off with a quiz then games like Play Your Cards Right, The Weakest Link etc. and Kareoki. Helen the entertainer is a great singer and gets you going, and Dimitri the barman is lovely he also makes a very good cocktail.
the hotel ws good and the staff were excellent but i have to agree with mrs r jones. there were two single girls staying for 2 weeks at the start of august and spoiled the hotels name. they were uncontrolable, niosy, drunk every night waking the whole complex at all hours-sometimes even after 7 in the morning they were just getting in. they also stole and made the staff lifes hell whilst they stayed here and even got asked to leave!! i would be ashamed if i were them. Apart from that the hotel was excellent and would go back any time!!
Dont suppose your talking about the two girls that were in room 408 by any chance mrs r jones?? coz that was us!!!
You can book for the Oscar Hotel through Direct Holidays - you can book online at their website www.mytravel.com. Make sure you select Direct Holidays first though! They are very reasonable - we booked for 2 weeks from 22 May 2003 (2 adults and 1 child) and its cost us £850. Give it a go!
CAN I HAVE THE PRICE OF A ONE BEDROOM ROOM AT THE HOTEL OSCAR ZANTE FOR 14 DAYS FROM THURS 31JULY 2003 UNTIL THURS 14 AUGUST 2003 OR THURS 24 JULY UNTIL THURS 7 AUG 2003 FOR 2 ADULTS AND ONE 15YR OLD GIRL LAGANAS ZANTE
I arrived home yesterday, having had a brilliant stay at the Oscar. I am only 13 years old but thought the facilities were excellent, especially the swimming pool which is suitable for all ages. The local beach was dissapointing but the courtesy bus which ran you down there 4 times a day free of charge was helpfull. The bar food was good quality, especially the breakfast which even self-catering guests can have, like our-selfs. The only let down was the main road where our appartment was situated. The constant flow of traffic was a nightmare at night time, but it was too hot to shut the windows and keep the noise out.
Got back yesterday, the hotel is spotless and well-run. Two-bedroomed apartments are very spacious, but are close to the main road, and the traffic never stops, bikes roar up and down 24 hours a day. Staff were very friendly, (hello Costas), just a shame that their hospitality was abused by some of the guests who thought it Ok to booze till 3.30 in the morning, singing and shrieking, despite being politely asked to leave several times. Pool is good, and snackbar serves a variety of stuff from Greek salads to Chip Butties, and good value. Entertainment was pretty mediocre, and doesn't start till too late (10.30 pm). Courtesy bus to beach was very useful, as it can be a long walk in 90 degree heat. The closest couple of tavernas were not too good, but the third down on the right, Paradise, was superb - we ate there three times and it just got better and better. All in all, a nice hotel, one of the best we have been to.
what can we say!!! nikos we will always remember you!!! it was just so funny!!! "no no no no no no!! "go 2 your room and b quiet!! take it you love that bell coz u got really upset when we hid it!!! and when we asked 2 stay extra week for a laugh your face was a classic!! u loved us really!! even though we caused a lot of trouble.see you soon nikos!!!!!!! mel and shirley!!! "no no no no no-u come back i leave country!!!!! shame nikos we will b back sooner than you think!!!! if any1 is going to oscar say hi 2 nikos from mel and shirley who stayed in room 408 in the first 2weeks of august!! bye 4 now!! we love u nikos!!!
Have just returned fron a terrific holiday on Zante. The Oscar had lots of facilities for children of all ages and there is a varied entertainment programme, both during the day and at night. The free bus to Laganas is a great idea, although there are shops and restraunts close to the Oscar. After hearing horror stories about Greek plumbing, I'm pleased to say that we found no problems at the Oscar. The staff are all very friendly and can't do enough to help. Laganas itself was nice although the beach was a disappointment. We'll be going back next year to the Oscar.
I am staying at this hotel next May with my daughter who will be 6 when we go - is it a good hotel for kids?? Are there many problems with mozzies here - my hubby attracts them more than the girls!! e-mail me: tdavies@mazak.co.uk Thanks
Set away from the busy nightlife so quieter at night.A bit of a hike to the beach but free bus there and back 4 times in morning and 4 in afternoon. Tried walking but takes about half an hour before you hit the main strip of shops then another half hour to reach beach!Taxi only takes 5 euros, so cheap if bus time is no good.Accomodation spotless. Family run, very friendly, costas likes to teach you greek basics like kalamera (goodmorning) kalaspera (goodnight) effaristo (thank you) etc. Nice clean pool and plenty of sunbeds even when busy. Had greek night which was great - the dancers get you up and teach you the steps. Karaoke nights and bingo at hotel with english hosts.Corner shop open till 2am and Palataki first on left is one of the best places to eat. Brilliant holiday, many thanks to costas and his family, will go again. (No earthquake next time please!)
I am going to Laganas in August and was wondering if there are any good resturants there
we stayed just outside laganas last June, in apartments just in front of an excellent hotel. Can't remember if the Oscar is the name of the hotel. There was a renta car/bike kiosk in front of the aprts, called Dennis. Can anyone tell me if the Oscar is the hotel I'm looking for (it was set back off the road, had tennis courts and a smallish pool/gardens. Hotel snack bar was up some steps from the pool.
Hi my name is Grant Sandison age 10.I was at the Oscar Aparthotel on the 8 of October 2001.The quietness was excellent. The bingo, quizes and all the outher nigt entertainment was excellent Nikos is mad with cocktails he even make's is own.Lie by the pool all day and a beautiful tan is your's.Have the ace English breakfastas well go on have a try. Grant Sandison
We stayed here july/August this year - had a wonderful time all staff were very friendly and helpful. Nickos mixes a mean but often deadly cocktail - with any luck we will be back
We stayed here july/August this year - had a wonderful time all stakk were very friendly and helpful. Nickos mixes a mean but often deadly cocktail - with any luck we will be back
I am going on holiday on the 30 august with my wife and 2 children. Staying in the oscar apts I was wondering what kind of activities there was for children aged 3 and a half and 20 months. Please e-mail me at woodkkwd@aol.com
Am just back from the Oscar Hotel yesterday. The place was superb. The place is located about 20 mins from the main street in Laganas, but its only 5 mins in a taxi which costs about 1500 dracmas/ £3, but remember to say to the taxi driver as soon as you go in2 the taxi or else they could bump you. I went with ma mate , but we met three boys as soon as we got there, we went out every night! We were out 2 atleast 5 o'clock every morning, amazing! Nikos the barman was brand new. The food in the hotel was good. We were bed and breakfast but we never seen 8 o'clock the whole holiday. The restaurants in Laganas were good, the Albotros in Laganas is briliant, but the there are quailty restaurants near thr hotel aswell. The one next to the hotel is nice, the second one down on the right(dont no th name) is nice for its pizzas, but the third one down on the right,Paradise was quailty, spaggeti bolonase and the chicken curries are quailty. The clubs are good. If ure in2 dance music ,zereos and rescues are brilliant but if u just want 2 get a laugh and dance thr nite away go to the Cherry Bay Beach Club, it amazin. If Davie and Christine, who ah met at the Oscar are reading this or the girls from Liverpool or the boys from Whitburn, al see u soon! Whos ur Daddy! Robert Duncan ,Tollcross , Glasgow.
just got back,a really good holiday,we choose it because it was a bit back, which is understating it really ,to the start of "lag-a-na" as it`s pronounced it will take you a good 30 mins then another 15 to the beach, don`t forget it`s 35 degrees so the pace is not quick, especially in flip flops,we found the beach quite dirty and not that wide. the noise of the traffic goes on all night, wagons thunder past, bikes sreech all the time, the double glazed doors shut it out, but you need them open ,hire a fan soon as .the oscar is great ,very clean, nice people, pool closed at 6.30 and so did the snack bar,the next hotel as you turn left serves food and shows three films a night, we saw planet of the apes and cats and dogs and jurassic park 3. email me at james_hampson@hotmail.com if you need any info.
My daughter took me to the oscar last june for one week with my 3 year old grandson. My first time abroad.I enjoyed it so much I wanted to do a shirley valentine and stay there the staff were very helpful and although I didnt use the bar a lot the other guests at the time found it great. The pool is good and it is not to long walking to laganas beach shops all the way or the hotel bus is free plenty of tavernas beach side or on the roadside.I hope to go back in Oct this year with hubby.
Craig when we went in june the temp did drop a bit but i cant see it dropping to much, try the supermarket down the road for your fan if you dont bring one cos it is cheaper than the Hotel, do me a favour say hello to Nickos he is SPOT on lad just mention PAUL WELLER/STYLE COUNCIL he will no what you mean even if you dont,if you need any info glad to help(nickos barman) alan liverpool
I will be staying at the Hotel Oscar for two weeks with my family at the end of August, can any one tell me if the temperature drops a lot at night or if it stays fairly hot and if it does stay hot will we be able to get a fan locally or are we best bringing one along with us. Cheers Craig & Family.
what is served up for breakfast at the oscar? is it cooked or is it just a roll?
Gemma people we spoke to said the derakas were very clean and modern. Alan Liverpool.
just got back from staying at the oscar, costa,s the manager very friendly and helpful the staff exellent especially Nickos, barman real geniune athens lad, courtesy bus runs 10.00am/10.30am/1pm and 2.30pm.If you choose to go in to the town or strip 1500drachma roughly £2.80/3.00 good happy hours 350/400 for Amstel bottle and ice cold pint of lowenbrau.Thought entertainment was good but that is down to your own choice.Any more info anyone needs willing to oblige Alan and Joanne Liverpool.
we came back on the 22nd.june after 2 weeks at the hotel oscar.the staff are brilliant & the hotel is spotless. its only a 20 minute walk to the beach, even with a bad case of gravel rash after coming off a motorbike on the island. the entertainment (michaela) isn't that bad, just remember you're on holiday & let your hair down. the more of nickos's exellent cocktails you try,the better the enterainment gets. alan & karen
Please Help.....Glen canu u help.
Me and my boyfriend are going to the derekas apartments on the 15 july 2001, it is our first holiday abroad together so i want it to be perfect, but i cant find any details of what the hotel looks like.. can someone PLEASE HELP!... also is it clean....thanks Gems xxxx
Michael, see our families earlier note dated 23rd May for our opinion of this hotel and the facilities. We were a family of 5 last year and 6 the previous year, including kids of 8 and 12 and their grandma. Laganas itself is very suitable for young singles, though it does accomodate families and couples too. For the kids there is a go kart track and trampolines near the Kalamaki road, about 10/15 minutes walk away. If you need to know anything else, please ask and we'll try to help. Tim, Cathy and family
Is there anything to do for the kids in this hotel and resort? I was watching a tv programme last night which featured Laganas and there didn't look like there was much for the kids to do. People who have been b4 have told me this place is great, however I'm a little concerned that the little ones will be bored. Please help me! am i just being paranoid? MIke Allen
Just came back on Sunday after 2 weeks. Loved the apartments - really clean and well looked after. The staff - well what can i say - they were ALL fab !! In particular - Dimitri who worked in reception and Nickos the best barman in Greece. The entertainment was not for us, but may suit some people. Thanks Rimmer - Bed linen & towels too! We had a great holiday here and I toltally agree with Gaz. The only 'entertainment' during the week we were there was that awful woman and she drove us out of the bar every night - take earplugs if you think you'll be needing to get to sleep early 'cause she's got an amp! Nikos is great too - very heavy handed on the cocktails (during happy hours - 800dr for a cocktail that'll knock your socks & sandals off & only 400dr for a pint of lowenbrau!. The hotel bus only goes 4 times a day (& not after 2.30pm) but a taxi is only about 1500dr. 2 Supermarkets just a few metres away too. There is a tennis court Traci(& table tennis/pool)& they hire all the stuff you need. The flight is 3 & 1/2 hours.
We stayed here in the first two weeks of June this year.We loved the hotel and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is spotless and the maids do a great job in the rooms. The only complaint we had was the entertainer at nightime ( Michaela! ) who does nothing but SCREECH the whole time.If you are tired and need a reasonably early night like 1am then forget it with her around. Don't play her rip off Bingo or you will find you have spent around £40 in just over an hour with her keeping promising the big jackpot game later on which even if you won you would still lose. I would look elswewhere for your entertainment which is excellent in other places and do what we did and chucked Michaela in the pool every week!! Good idea to hire a car to see the whole Island. The best trip the hotel offers is the turtle treking day out which was Fab. Give our regards to Nickos behind the bar who was excellent. YAMAS GAZ & JEANIEC
I am going to the Oscar hotel in one week on Sunday. I want to know if it has tennis courts and if so do you have to take your own rackets with you? How long does it take to fly there?
I have been here twice and it is a fab place to stay! The manager and his family are great as well, they are all really friendly! The bar staff are a great laugh too!!! They have good theme and barbq nites. The hotel is quite a bit up from the beach but no distance at all from a fab little outdour restraunt (family run), where you can get a great meal for a great price. The distance from the beach doesn't matter, as during the day the hotel has a FREE minibus that will take you and pick you up again on a half hourly service! So if you are going have a fab time, i'm sure you love it as much as me!!!!
Jackie - Bed linen is provided at this hotel.
Last minute question! Can anyone tell me if bed linen is provided at the oscar apartments or do we need to take some??
Staying at Darakas, which is suppose to be next to Oscar Hotel, what are they like and do we use Oscar facilities freely.
Hi Alan and family Everything about this hotel is as we say. Beer is reasonable, and they have a happy hour every evening from 6.30 - 8.00 or 8.30pm. Unfortunately it is quite a distance from the beach, but the minibus does the run four times daily as it says in the brochure. Taxis are are fairly cheap alternative. We would recommend you try and visit the beaches in the Vasilikos area if you hire a car. Our favourite was Gerakas beach and there is also St Nicholas or Banana beach which are excellent. (St Nicholas has watersports available). There is also a daily bus service from Laganas (but we're not sure where from), that takes people to St Nicholas beach. If you need to know anything more, please ask.
I have just booked this Hotel for june Tim, we are staying in there apartments is everything as good as you say, how far to beach and laganas in minutes roughly. How much for a pint in the hotel is it reasonible.Any chance of any more feedback thanks for all your HELP ALAN / JOANNE 24/05/01 LIVERPOOL

We stayed here in August 1999 and August 2000. We would come back again, but there are other parts of Greece which we haven't seen yet. The apartments are very clean and well equipped (including electric kettle and toaster). The owners are very friendly (like all Greeks we've met), and would go out of the way to help (including supplying a birthday cake, and running family down to the pharmicist in an emergency). The pool and gardens were very clean and well maintained. The bar and evening entertainment is excellent, including barbecue, bingo, "Play Your Cards Right", karaoke and quiz nights, and there is also Sky sports on the television for anybody who can't be without their football. We would recommend this complex to anybody with children as there is plenty for them to do too, including playground, table tennis, pool and inexpensive video games. If anybody wants further info, just ask and we'll be happy to help.
We are travelling back to the same hotel as it was excellent. If anyone is travelling on the 27th May to June 11th we will see them there. Gaz & Jeaniec
THANKS RIMMER AND JAMES FOR YOUR HELP, GLAD TO HEAR ITS NOT HILLY AFTER THE WALK HOME WHEN YOUVE HAD A FEW BEERS !! IS THE ENTERTAINMENT GOOD AT NIGHT IF YOU WISH JUST TO STOP AT THE HOTEL, THANKS AGAIN BOTH OF YOU. RUSS & TEL.
No its not hilly at all, its a smooth straight road. Try the bacon muffins from the poolside cafe, they really are fab. im going back to zante this year. its fab you will love everyhting about it.
Russ - Laganas is not hilly at all, and Oscar Hotel is on the main road, about 30 mins walk to the centre!
THANKYOU JAMES FOR YOUR REPLY. DO WE TAKE IT THAT ITS HILLY THEN AS YOU SAID DOWN ONTOTHE BEACH ?? AND IS IT FAR ONTO THE MAIN STREET ? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP JAMES.
I stayed there about 5 years ago and thought it was a really nice place. Although it is quite far from the beach it is a really nice walk down, and there is was a free bus that went there. Have yourselvews a good time there.
We are travelling to Zante on the 31st May and are stopping at the Oscar Hotel . We would like to hear any comments from previous holidayers good or bad so we know what to expect. Thanks Russ&Thelma Males (7/5/01)
