TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU, TSILIVI IS A LOVELY PLACE, ZANTE IS THE BEST.
ZANTE AIRPORT IS SMALL SO DOES GET BUSY BUT I WOULD NOT SAY A CATTLE MARKET, IF SHE KNOWS WHAT THAT MEANS
DONT YOU THINK THAT JOANNE STONE SOUNDS LIKE A BITTER PERSON.SHE 'S PROBABLY A LESBIAN.........PLAESE IGNORE HER COMMENTS AS THEY ARE BOLLOCKS.........SHE THE TYPE WHO LOVES TO COMPLAIN

I always check out resorts and apartments here before I book anything.
We spent 2 glorious weeks on Zante in June last year, biked to Tsilivi dozens of times, one of the best resorts on this gorgeous island. You too will fall in love with it, I am sure.
Regards,
Edg
This was my first trip to anywhere in Greece, and I'm completely sold on the people, the place and the atmosphere. I travelled between 05 and 16 May 2003. It was pleasantly quiet at the start of the season, so I enjoyed the lack of crowds. I completely agree with Douglas Bragg, a definite must is the Olive Tree, mention my name to Lakis (the owner) and see if he laughs! The main street is busy with lots of people, places to eat and bars, all of them with friendly staff and a more than accommodating attitude, service with a smile always. The weather was perfect (and unusual for the time of year). I travelled with Thomsons and all the Reps were first class. Go on some of their organised trips - they will certainly make it fun, Simply Zante, Turtle Island oh and don't miss the Greek Night! Jupiter Hotel was my home for my holiday, approx 65 rooms accommodating families. Again nothing was too much trouble (just book a room at the back of the building), friendly staff in a pleasant atmosphere. Walking round the main street in the evening - I didn't find it unsafe, I would prefer that to the UK in the evening!!
Your holiday is what you make it - so if you intend to not enjoy it you won't - but it would be a struggle in Tsilivi to have a bad time.
Hi.
We're going to stay at the Filoxenia Aparthotel, in Tsilivi, at the end of July 2003. Can anyone tell me what it is like?
Also where is the best place to hire a car from?
We are going with our 2 cildren aged 14 and 12. If anyone else will be in Tsilivi at that time, with chidren around the same age then please contact us.
we booked this holiday based on reading the comments posted on this site.
Thanks
I arrived there on the 16th of May and came back on the 23rd of May. Tsilivi is a lovley place. The people are friendly and there is plenty of bars to go in. Just been reading the write up on this place and the last person said it was crap, you have got to remember that its only just the start of the season so the bars arent goin to be very active at this time of year. Yes i agree the airport is small and due to the new security measures it was a bit mad at times but what has that got to with Tsilivi?!!! If your looking for a bit more nightlife then you can get a taxi to Laganas which will set you back around 13 euro's but be warned, Laganas is the place for all the "young un's" so they whack the price of the drinks up quite a bit! Overall i thought Tsilivi was lovely, the beach was clean and very friendly people! Louise(20) (see, its not that boring or else i would of written a bad report!!!)
We have just returned from a weeks holiday in Tsilivi,we found it most enjoyable. We are a couple in our early thirties and we found the nightlife very entertaining,no good if you want a clubbing holiday but excellent if you want lively bars with a very friendly atmosphere. We would particularly recommend Paradise Cocktail Bar the staff are really entertaining and the drink flows!! The restaurants we ate in were also very good we would recommend The Akropolis which is near Paradise Bar. The food here is excellent and the service matches it.We stayed at the Margaris Studios which were cleaned daily and again the staff were very obliging. There is a bar on the complex which is quite lively and open most ot the night. This was not a problem for us, but some people may find it disturbing at night time. We would definately return to Tsilivi again the weather was fantastic and the beach was very nice.As for other peoples comments on the airport, it's Greece, all the islands I have visited the airports have been the same and anyway chill out you're on holiday.
JUST GOT BACK FROM ADMIRALS IN TSILIVI.WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.NOTHING TO DO.HOTEL CLEAN BUT CRAP.AIRPORT IS LIKE A CATTLE MARKET.WOT A JOKE.I WOULD NOT RECOMEND IT TO MY WORST ENEMY.
I was at Tsilivi between 1/5/3 and 15/5/3 with my partner and found the place fantastic. It was lovely and peaceful, weather was gorgeous, the Island itself was beautiful and the locals were the friendliest I've met yet.
I personally did not hear of any problems in ther area with regards to crime I think you just have to use your usual common sense that you would anywhere else.
The only thing I would mention is if you considering going as early as us in the season don't be expecting it to be busy alot of places don't start to open until the 2nd week in May but if you want a relaxing peaceful time it's perfect!
to anybody that goes to zante i personaly recomend for lots of laughter visit the two brothers bar in tsilivi great pool great people great staff and most of all great fun for all the family !!!!! also avoid the spotting the turtles cruise waste of money if you want to see turtles close up and experience what me and my family experienced go to laganas beach and hire a pedlo there is no nead to go to far out!!!!! HAVE FUN!!!!!
Hi
3 of us are off to Tsilivi in a weeks time - we are staying at the Zante Star - what's it like? Also we are hoping to go on a few trips any suggestions? We're definately heading for Popeyes but any other restaurants and bars you can recommend would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I am a bit concerned by Richard Hills comments has anyone else heard about the constrution and high levels of theft we are going out in June and this has taken some of the shine away. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Just returned from 2 weeks (4th - 18th May). Had a really good time, there was me, my wife and 2 year old daughter. Not a great deal to do with a 2 year old but quite a few pubs have play areas (Moby Dicks was v. popular with her). Quite a lot of construction going on around the place so be prepared for HGVs squeezing past you. Most restaurants are great and I agree with most of the comments posted on the section for them. Recommend you get a car to see the rest of the island. Go up to the lighthouse and take a 1/2 hour round trup to see the blue caves. Fantastic spot up there, with the boats engine turned off it is really the quietest place I have ever been. One word of warning, crime. We heard of 3 seperate incidents just of people in our hotel who had thier bag snatched, were flashed, and had an attempted mugging. My advice, be wary of scooters buzzing past you on the quiet roads, keep your valuables hidden and don't walk alone. Taxis are cheap enough so if in doubt get one. It was still a great holiday though, excellent weather and really relaxing. Enjoy.
Just arrived back from staying at Admirals for two weeks with my boyfriend and our two girls aged 10 months and 2 years. Was abit dissapointed with the childrens entertainment as there wasnt really any. Hotel was VERY clean but wouldnt recommend the food there. Weather was absolutley fantastic. If you like chinese then eating in the chinese restaurant by Foody's market is a must, Popeye's is also a must but get there early or your"ll have to wait for a seat.Zante airport is a joke be prepared to wait about two hours for your luggage as there is only one carousel. Had a ten hour delay coming home along with about a 1000 other people as the airport had to be closed due to an emergency landing. food inside the airport is a rip off so pack supplies just in case, they dont sell any baby products so be prepared, the authorities in the airport dont care so expect to be treated like cattle. overall we did have a good holiday but i wouldnt hurry back there which is a shame.
We are a family of 5 returning to Zante for the 3rd time in August.Had a brilliant time on the previous trips. Can anyone tell us of any new attractions on the island for this year. We are staying at the Admirals in Tsilivi for the second time. Have worked on the island as a dj last year and can recommend the Enigma club for all youngsters visiting. Car or scooter hire is cheap and a must if you want to explore the island as the bus service is non exsistant. Loved it that much hoping to move to the island permanantly in 2005. If you can help post your comment to Sean on this page..............THANKS
We have been 23 times, will be there again in Sept. Love Tsivilis, best food on the island in the Olive Tree (main st Tsivilis)
Ask for Lakis Bouas (the owner) tell him I recommended the OTree I am sure he will give you a warm welcome. We usually stay with Spiro in Levante Studios (Levante boat trips) lovely people, lovely place
Four times is Tsilivi, planning for a fifth. Great bars, great restaurants and great people!
Spiros's speedboat trip always the highlight of the holiday either going to Lagana/Keri Caves to see the turtles or to Smuggler's Cove Bay/Blue Caves with all the beautiful scenery. Never a dull moment with Spiros's roguish sense of humour.
Beryl and Lyanne
Me, my girlfriend and 3 year old daughter are going to Tsilivi Admirials on 3rd October 2003, but there doesn't appear to be much in Zante (according to some of the horror stories of this site).
Can anyone PLEEEEEASE tell me something good so I don't cancel the holiday. The weather is our main concern anyone been there in October? Let me know how the weather was for you.
Email me at zante@ntlworld.com
We went to the tsilivi beach last year and have booked again for this august. Its a clean air conditioned well located hotel with fridges in all rooms, I agree with other comments that the breakfasts are basic but the hotel has an onsite snack bar which makes lovely food very reasonable.I would definately not recommend the trip to olympia unless you are an avid historian/archaologist as its very, very ,very, hot there and theres nothing to do other than look at the ruins....obvious I suppose but it was a nightmare for me.although we went to a lot of reseraunts we found there were still some we didn't try also the jeep safari is on our list of must do's spiros comes highly recommended. looking forward to being there 14th aug if its as good as last year then will be very happy.
We first came across Tsilivi and Zante purely by chance in 2000 it was the cheapest holiday in the agents at the time for a week so we booked it and we had an excellent time that year, so much so that we went back the following year this time for 2 weeks and we took my sister and her family too and again had an ace time. We are due to go again this year in June for 2 weeks and have no doubts about enjoying it. I would recommend Zante and in particular Tsilivi to anyone. We stay at the Mavrias holiday village and I would say that we havent come across too many places better, the staff are all friendly and make you welcome, Costas is nuts particularly after a few Mythos'!!
Magdelana's is a great bar to visit at night, Nikos and Arris on the top bar will keep you entertained throughout and dont forget to ask Nikos to step up for his nightly Karaoke stint! Talk about tone deaf!!
Cats Whiskers, The Olive Tree and Ariadnes are good restaurants to try and if you have half as good a time as we have had each time we've been, then your in for a great holiday!!!
Can someone please tell me how many klms it is from Tsilivi to Alykanas... Is it possible to walk! I know there is no bus service between the two towns
Thanks a million!
Can someone let me know about Tsilivi. I am going there in July 2003 to stay at Planos Beach Apartments with my son (7) and mother. Is there plenty for children to do? Is Planos Beach far enough away from night life? Are there are any takeaway food shops? Any comments would be much appreciated.
hello every one ,
we 've been there 4 times and returning this year for a 5th .zante palace is a fantastic place i wish i lived there .the bar owners yannis and despina are lovely and make us very welcome.we recommend tsilivi to any one who wants a relaxing yet fun holiday .

Can anyone tell me about any good trips that are suitable for young kids. (3 years old)
in reply to Marks Ed query regarding the Planos Bay Apartments:- Two of my friends and I stayed there last September and we found them to be really nice. We were informed that the hotel itself was only opened in 2002 and the apartments consist of two room (ours slept four, one double, two singles). Very tidy and of nice decor. There is a big swimming pool, a bar and the facility to order snacks i.e. pizza, patsa, fries etc. There is also a shop and quite a few other shops just alongside the hotel. We throughly enjoyed our stay at Planos and highly reccommend it.
Hi everyone.
If anybody needs any info on the island then let me know. I worked there last yr as a rep and going back to do another season.
I know loads abt the place just e-mail me on supperfluffy69@hotmail.com
Hello all! myself and three friends have booked a holidya in Irene Studios and i was wondering if anyone out there had ever been there and if so, could they give me a review? How far it is to Zante town or Laganas? And prices of taxis or busses? Is this place suitable for 18 year olds? Much appreciated.
Can anybody tell me how much it is in a taxi from the airport and is it easy enough to get a cab. This is our first trip to Zante. We have booked the Trente nove appts, can any one throw any light on them.
Thanks
Angela
Just want to answer some of the stuff other people have posted.
A three course meal is about £20 for 2 + drinks.
The night life is not fantasic if your into clubbing don't go here. It's great for people who want a quite time and also good for families.
We saw the police one if to weeks in Tsilivi and one a day trip to Laganas the police were everywere.
We stayed at the Alexandra Beach Hotel in Tsilivi. We had an excellent time and wend on most of the trips. Two points to note. 1)Plan your trips carefully, many trips show the same things. 2) Don't always eat in the recommended restaurants on tours because they aren't always the best.
me, the wife and 2 boys aged 5 and 9 will be staying at the planos bay appartments in may 2003. I would be greatful of any comments regarding planos bay appts and tsilivi in general. I did see on one website that appts could be noisy into the early hours (not to late i hope) can anybody help many thanks M .eds
Hi All, I am getting married next September in Zante and staying at the Planos Bay Apartments. Any further information that anyone can supply, will be recieved with many thanks.
i'm just back from Tsilivi and loved it. stayed at the Santy Marie which is such a nice place and Sandy and Marie are so nice and kind with their drinks!! Booked to go back in may and again in september, but then agaijn i do have an excuse as my boyfriend lives out there! but seriously, it is a nice place to relax, drink and eat. and if you want to head out then zante town is alright, but there are places and its extremely cheap. if you go and don't like it then don't go back! its not everyones taste!
We returnrd last week from a brilliant 2 weeks at Tsilivi Beach Hotel - highly recommended to anyone. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and made you feel very welcome - i can't wait to see them all again next summer! Thats right next summer! - We loved the holiday so much we've booked again for next July and we hope to go back in May as well! The beach at Tsilivi is great, the people are soooooo friendly, they make you feel at home. The holiday rep we had was fantastic he was so funny and entertaining as well as helpful - good on you George! Thank you Tsilivi Beach Hotel and George for an holiday to remember. See you all soon !!!
are anyone who was at tsilivi beach hotel on 16th june 2002-30th june 2002 going back next year?? we are, you will probably remember my son conor
Have always found that Tsilivi fulfills my holiday requirements.....beach ok, but we tend to hire a car and explore quiter ones ....then spend the evenings relaxing in Tsilivi. More than enough bars/restaurants/shops to frequent.Pieros to eat, is unbeatable in my opinion.....followed by a cocktail superbly shaken at The Joker bar, just a couple of doors along.
We’ve just returned from two weeks in the Christina’s. After 4 days of our first week we were ready to ask for an early return. Reading other comments there is a common complaint about the Studios and that is about the pool bar music. Our complaint was the volume; one idiot from Derby had brought his own CD wallet which the girls played all week. Fine except the average age in the studios was about forty-five and this dyed-blonde Neanderthal brought techno-pop tripe, in fact I don’t know why he brought his wallet as each one sounded exactly the same as the last. They played it from 10 a.m. until HE went to bed, at disco volume and with full base. The rep was unable to persuade the owners to do something about it and the result was both the pool bar and their barbeque night were boycotted. Even after he left the volume didn’t abate much and the variety of music improved from rubbish to early MTV. Friendly staff eh? I bought a phone card at the bar and my wife asked Christina – very politely – to turn the music down a bit while we ‘phoned home. Now this girl had no customers and was watching her television set with her head against the back of one of the speakers of the stereo! She glared at my wife, snatched up the remote and turned the volume down by .000001 of a decibel. No food or drinks by the pool unless bought at the bar – fair enough – but sweets? “No, no, no sweets, you cannot hand sweets around to your friends!” The smell, what smell asked the staff? That raw sewer smell we all said (10 rooms at the end block). Three times the smell was so bad it drove us off the balconies and even out of the rooms. Going in late September, we soon learned the catch-all phrase for faults or shortages –“It’s the end of the season.” The answer was to hire a car and book day trips, leave early and return late, drink just enough to fall asleep. But if you book a room overlooking the pool, you can’t escape the music. Tsilivi is on the flight path into Zante airport and since the airport closes from midnight until 5 a.m., at 5 a.m. you get 6 or more aircraft in a very few minutes inside your bedroom. Also inside your bedroom and everywhere else will be the feral cats unless you are very quick at opening and closing your balcony doors. The bathroom is a shower room 6 feet square. There is no curtain so when you shower you soak everything in the room. Zante is a beautiful island, Tsilivi was purpose built for the British tourists so you can guess what it’s like. If you stayed in the resort and didn’t venture out then you have a very poor impression of the island and what it has to offer.
my wife and I are going to Tsilivi on the 20th of October and would just like to know how much things are such as a three course meal, wine, beer and other refreshments. Also has any one stayed at the Jupitor hotel.
Got back from hols beginning October having had two weeks complete rest. Swimming great, fresh fruit and dougnuts wonderful-sold on the beach every day! People very friendly and helpful. Didn't find a bad place to eat but particularly liked Majestic, and Roxani and Frank's is worth queing. MUST to do Zakfari and Speros's speed boat trip. PLEASE keep development down otherwise it will be spoilt.Sandras bar by our accomadation couldn't have been happier or more helpful we do miss Sandra and Costa.
We have just come back from 2 weeks in Tsilivi after having a fabulous time. The people are friendly and the weather was fantastic. There is not much night life there but if you are looking for a relaxing holiday Tsilivi is definatley the place to go. The bars are good especially THAT BAR where we made good friends with Trish and Mick the owners, and we are looking forwards to seeing them all again next summer
Best family beach on the island. Good selection of Restaurants catering for all pockets and styles of food. There are loads of Brits there and the menus try to appeal to them, but turn the page over and find the local food, its brilliant and half the price. Same can be said for the local beer Mythos and Alpha better and cheaper than Amstel by far. Nightlife maybe quiet'ish but this place is appealing to families and those wanting to relax and chill. Shops are limited but Zante town is good and is only 15 minutes and £3 by Taxi, so shop there. If you want a loud racous place with excessive nightlife constant entertainment, a good burger and chips, and companions with an IQ less than their age go to Laganas and join in with that sad lot from 18-30.
Just got back form two weeks in Tsilivi,we are a couple in our late twenties. It was absoltley lovely, food was great, Magdalenas, Majestics and Popeyes. I must say Curiacus in Magdalanes is the most polite, sweetest person I have ever met and they do the best breakfast there! No entertainment at night as such but you can make your own, an early one or a party night, the choice is yours! beach is lovely and there are some lovely hotels on the beach, the people really friendly - defo going back next year! and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone, young, old, family or couple - a great all rounder.
the place is full of bars and restraunts, but very boring thats about it, unless you want to eat and rink all night then dont go there, i love a drink but with no entertainment is bad
LOVED IT WILL BE GOING BACK NEXT YEAR! THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST RELAXING HOLIDAYS. WE BOTH LOVED THE PLACE EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN ONE PLACE AN NOT TO EXSPENSIVE. CALL AT THE MARIETTA CAFE/BAR WHERE YANOS AND PETER THE BEST BARMEN IN TOWN, WILL SUPPLY YOU WITH THE BEST CHEAP COCKTAILS AND WATCH OUT FOR THE METAXA`S
Great resort!!!
PS. Tracey, I have just read your other comments. I agree the airport was not the best, but what do you expect? The island is probably half the size of London, it has a population of approximately 50,000 and has tourists for six months of the year. You must be very naieve if you were expecting your own beautician at the Clinique counter in the Duty Free Shop.......... Also, can you tell me when Shepherds Pie and a Full English were specialities of the typical Greek menu? YOU ARE IN GREECE YOU MUPPET, NOT BLACKPOOL.
Tracey, Have you ever heard of punctuation, grammar or a dictionary?............................................ Thought not. Tsilivi is a great resort. I would be quite happy Tracey, if you never set foot in the resort again as your whinging would spoil the peace that everyone else is enjoying. Get yourself off to somewhere that is more to your liking and hopefully the noise will drown out your childish moaning.
Just come back from a fab 2 weeks in Tsilivi. It was just what we were after - a really relaxing holiday. We stayed in gorgeous appts (The excellent Plaza Palace - highly recomended!) and thought it was a laid-back, friendly resort with good selection of restaurants and bars - and a decent beach. Hire a car though and have a look round the island as there's lots to see - the roads are pretty dire though! Jenny & Matt PS Hi to Neil & Vanessa - we're still perfecting our pool technique - but could do with an amstel (or 10) to help us along the way!!
Hi ya! Im coming to Tsivi Zante this coming Monday, Im looking for people around my age to meet up for a freindly drink.Im 19 F.Interested please mail me :)
loved the place, we had a great time, we enjoy the nite life at JOKER they have the best bar men in tsilivi.
Imeant MAY not MEY!!
MSG FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS READ COMMENT BY TRACEY: Tsilivi is nothing like she has explained. Alright it mey not be everyones 'cup-of-tea' but generally it is a lovely resort. The beach doesn't contain any empty comdom packets, wonder where they came from?? The beach is lovely and golden sand is fantastic, alright there is a few pebbles when entering the sea, but what do you expect, total paradise?? There are plenty of resaurants that serve georgeous food, tracey must have picked the cheap ones!! As for the bars, there are some lively ones but the ones that are averagly quiet do have entertainment nights. So if your not boring, you make your own fun!! I'm travelling to Tsilivi for my third time later this year and I cant wait for the holiday of a lifetime, again!! Tracey if you want lively bars, horrible beaches and cheap restaurants, go back to Spain!!
Just had two really relaxing weeks in Tsilivi, stayed at the Rania Appts, just behind St Denis, it was great you closed the doors at night and you could actually get to sleep, it was lovely and quiet. Didnt think much to the beach as it is very pebbley and hurts your feet but once you get past the stones the water is fabulous! Found some good places to sunbathe on grass, so if you are prepared to walk take time out and find these grassy areas. No-one has mentioned the horse drawn taxis that run from the centre, I had to take a ride in one as they are so much nicer than taking a cab. I must admit it was rather expensive for a five minute trip (15 euros) but it was a really nice feeling as people sat eating watched you drive past, it felt almost regal! We did the sights ie Shipwreck, Caves, Zante Town but the best for exhilleration must be the speed boat, we had a brilliant half day tour, the captain really knows how to enjoy himself, and makes everyone feel at ease. Good all round holiday.
I was just reading the old comments, and I do not know where on earth tracey visited! The place she described is nothing at all like tsilivi. I have been 3 times now, twice this year, and I think it is fantastic. been with 3 different people, and they all thought the same. I will be back next year, for as long as I can stay! So it can't be that bad, can it? the beach is big and has lovely golden sand with no condoms in sight and the fruit selling man (juicy lucy) for entertainment. the weather is usually gorge, the nightlife is great if you go to the bars like planet, paradise, reportage, level, magdalenas. the restauranats all serve fantastic dishes, greek, english, chinese, italian, everything! it is great for families, couples, retired people, something for everyone. and if you want a great night out, I hear Laganas is the place to be for clubs n things, but I prefer the local nightlife in Tsilivi! So tracey, like I said, do not know where you went but it couldnt have been Tsilivi. still, we don't want people like you there, so good job you wont be going back. stick to spain, love!
We have just returned from Tsilivi after staying two weeks at the Hotel Meditteranee. We had a brill time. The speed boat (Levante) trip from the harbour to the blue caves and the shipwreck was really good. Also the Zakfari, we saw lots of places that coaches could not get to, and some of the views were really breathtaking. What we found out was if you want to save money book one of the local tours....but yes it may be cheaper but you usually find that any enrance fees arent included!!!. We travelled with JMC and their tours were good with english tour guides so you can understand what they are saying. We went to Kefalonia with TEZ (greek tourist board). The rep told us that we had 20 minutes for a coffee and then back on the coach to go onto the ferry.Luckily we just stayed outside the cafe and noticed that the coach set off without any passengers and went on the ferry. So people were very confused when they found that the coach had gone!!. The rules over in Zante for a ferry is that you must walk on as a foot passenger. No one knew this, we found similar problems with the visits, not very much info given. So my advice is pay the few euros more and go with your tour rep on the local tours. Tsivili is a nice clean place and you can find both quiet places and places with more entertainment. The people are friendly there is a good choice of food at reasonable prices. We hired a scooter out for 2 days aand visited the north and south of the island. The travel books and reps tell you not the hire these. If you are aware of the roads (some might have holes in them, or loose stones at the edge) and drive defensively and wear a crash helmet, then this is a very good way of getting around for 12 euros a day plus 6 for 3rd part insurance. I found the other drivers were both courteous and didnt try to run you off the road as has been suggested. 30-40mph is an average speed for all traffic anyway. The Tsilivi Watersports are good, especially the Jet Ski. If you go there thinking you will get all the same standards of comfort as at home then you might be disappointed. But if you go with a open mind and go with the flow IT WILL BE AN EXCELLENT HOLIDAY !!!
Christ sorry how could I forget... Tsilivi's best bar maids Danni, her mum Clare and her mate (sorry can't remember your name!) oh and Angel I and my mates still haven't forgiven you for the damage you did to our livers! For those that want a welcome head on down to The Med Bar. If you go tell'em Andy say's hi to the girls!
If you want a family holiday with kids this place is the business. Couples again good but get a car so you can find better beaches! It's great to relax. The beach is a bit of a let down the picture in the brouchure didn't look great and the real thing was well the same. Nightlife it's got a few good bars Planet Pub (Bad name but what do you expect!) is laugh with a door man who wants to be Ali G (once he realised I was English and knew what he was on about he wouldn't stop pestering me to teach him knew Ali G'isms! West Side!) The main Club Enigma is a great venue only needing one things customers! Eating out all the restuarnts offer the same menu and it's all below average in my opinion. Having said that I don't reckon Greek food is all that. It's kinda like poor imatations of other european foods. Mouska... Lasanagne. Greek Salad... Salad with a lump of feta cheese and lots of oil! I mean come on? If Greek food were to recieve a school report I'm sure it's final comment would be "Must try harder". The resort is a great place to use as a base. My mate and i hired a car and a riot tearing around the island finding secret little beaches and diving platforms. When my girlfriend and her mates arrived a few days after us we then ventured out to laganas and thats where the real nightlife is, great fun (glad I didn't stay there as its a bit Ibiza uncovered) Cherry Bar and Waikios were great laughs. All in all one of the most fantastic holidays I've ever been on. Probably more to do with the people there but still the island is beautiful and well worth a look and as relaxing resorts go Tsilivi is up there with the best of'em!
this is for vicki owen who wants to know what tsilivi is really like for people who are young at heart i think you will be very dissapointed tsilivi is very very quiet place and there is nothing to do here not many lively places at all in fact we didnt find one in the two weeks we stayed there we just got back and it was the worst holiday i have ever been on the place is dead dirty, smelly and i wouldnt recommend it to anyone it was our first time in greece and by far deffinatly the LAST I WOULD NOT GO BACK EVEN IF YOU PAYED ME TO WE HATED EVERY MINUTE OF OUR STAY THERE AND COULDNT WAIT TO COME BACK HOME i am sorry vicki but i dont think you will enjoy it if you are looking for a good lively holiday with lots to do and plenty of lively places to go we looked all over and found nothing and nowhere and hated every day we had to stay there and if we knew what it was like before we went we would have changed our holiday to somewhere completley different i would reccomend if you could to change yours to somewhere better
Going to be staying at the santy maria studios next July any comments? Have been to Zante before, liked Argassi, not so keen on Laganas.
Just returned from a two week stay in the planos aparthotel and we all enjoyed the holiday, first time in greece so the toilet situation took some getting used too. The hotel was good with all staff friendly, we ate out every night and never had a bad meal (although we were ripped off at Manos grill, so we never went there again and don't recommend it). The beach at Alexandria hotel made a welcome change from the hot house pool, with a nice sea breeze to cool everybody down. Be carefull of the traffic though, the greeks have only one road law, and that is to drive on the right whenever possible, pedestrians are a fair atrget as everything else on the road, beware those with small children. But it is a good resort, no trouble just everyone enjoying themselves, you'll love it.
I'll just add to the rest of the good comments by saying that the resort is lively enough but certainly not too loud if you are worried about noise. All the bars, restaurants, shops etc are friendly. Definately get out and about though and see as many different places as you can. We used a really good travel agent, can't remember the name, but the guy is English and is next to the jewellery store and scotter hire shop at the western end of the resort.
Vicki, my partner and I (28 + 32) visited Tsilivi (stayed in the Christina Studios which you have also queried) in the first two weeks of July and therefore was probably much quieter than it is now. My biggest disappointment about Tsilivi was that there is nothing 'traditionally Greek' about Tsilivi, in fact the resort has been developed so that Brits don't need to feel that they are abroad (other than the weather!). That said we had a really good two weeks - the island is beautiful so make sure you are mobile. There are much better beaches on the Vassilikos (sp?) peninsular than near Tsilivi so basically just move around a bit. There is plenty of nightlife without the resort being dominated by it so you will have a good time in the evenings busy and fun but not rowdy. A club (Enigma)opened in Tsilivi just before we arrived and there are lots of late bars. Christina studios is about 5 mins walk away from Planos (part of Tsilivi) and 10 mins walk from Tsilivi centre. The pool is lovely and the accommodation was OK (we were in the oldest appartments) we didn't find it too noisy. They are very basically equipt and are cleaned very regularly. The only issues we (and several other tourists) had was with the management, in particular Christina. As the 2 weeks progressed she got more tired (worked stupid hours)and became (randomly) rude. In the end we spent as little time there as possible. She may well have settled into it by now - to give her the benefit of the doubt she was nice and friendly to start with. If you like seafood I would recommend trying a small restaurant in Tragaki (a village which you get to if you continue up the road that Christina is near)called the Old Vineyard it is lovely and very friendly. It is off the beaten track but worth getting to. Enjoy your holiday.
We just came back on 16th August from another great time in tsilivi. We stayed in the Justini apartments which are a 25 minute walk from popeyes.Nice and peacefull but close to the centre. The Euro seems to have put up the prices a bit but still a good holiday.Car hire £25 a day with A/C. Dont do the trips via the tour operators as this will cost you around 35% more and you will end up on the same tour as some of the main steet tours.Roll on next Year.YAMOSS
My husband and i are going to tsillivi in may and want to know has any stayed at the thompson hotel jupiter?? any good? are we going to have a good holiday? never been to Zante before!!
I am travelling to Zante on 25/09 with my partner, please can another young couple (or young at heart couple!) tell me what they thought a lot of the comments I have seen seem to come from families and I would like another take thanks
We have just come back from Tsilivi and had a fabulous time. Our apartments, Manousis, were massive, clean and very comfortable and just far enough away from town not to get all the noise. OK,prices have gone up a bit since the Euro came in but it was still worth it, we'll definitely be going back! If you are looking for more nightlife though you are better going to Laganas. Daisy Studios are about 10 mins from the town centre along the main drag. They are practically next to a supermarket called Alex's. Havent been in them but they look nice from the outside and they've got a pool.
My partner and I went to Tsilivi in July 2002 and had a fantastic time. I would however suggest hireing a rental car (don't be ripped off by the big one's like Avis) and venture out a bit. We drove down to the South of the Island to Gerakas and found the most amazing beach. If you want to eat out the best authentic greek taverna is Mano's Grill. Maria and Mano were the most fantastic hosts, the food was unsurpassed and the atmosphere they created was incredible. Being in the service industry myself I would whole heartedly reccomend this!
those who are going to the new apartments at planos bay are fantastic they have fans in the rooms a lovely apartment. we have just got back had a great time . aircon in downstairs / reception, bar , games room ect.
Me and my wife will be visiting the Daisy studio's in Tsilivi could anybody give me any information on the accomadation or the surrounding area.
we stayed at the 2 brothers in Tsilivi for the second time in a year it was a great pool and accomadation. The two brothers look after you.the local beach is very good there are lots of good places to eat Zakynthos is a good place to explore if you hire a scooter becareful because the roads are very slippy!
if you want to go to blackpool but with more Sun then you can go here, the prices in the shops are hyped for the tourist to a point that unless it is booze or ciggies, your are ripped off,(and no its not the euros fault)the one good place was the Kaliva bar, but for the most I thought it really poor value. Sorry !
Tsilivi is a beautiful, fantastic resort and suits all generations. Tsilivi offers a fantastic golden sand beach which is extremely clean and safe for children. There are lots of restaurants to choose from dependant on the Cuisine you desire, and most at reasonable prices. There are plenty of lively bars to choose from for that little extra bit of fun, or if you prefer, quiet family-run bars for relaxed nights. There are lots of day-time excursions including the boat trip around the island, my personal favourte, with plenty of things to see and do, especially the ship-wreck at smugglers cove. I would highly recommend Tsilivi to anyone. It is a fantastic resort to stay in, so-much-so I won't try anywhere else!! Tsilivi is a 11/10!!
Just arrived back from a fortnight in Tsilivi, July 2002. Very impressed with this resort. Loads of restaurants and snack bars and plenty of bars to suit all tastes. Shops are open to all hours in the morning. We had to visit the doctor as my son had a small blistered burn on his arm. Just watch, the Doctor and Pharmacy are in cohoots with each other. I was 80 euros to see the doctor and a further 71 euros in the pharmacy, they see a kid and rub their hands together. Apart from that experience we had a great holiday, we will go back.
just returned from the most fantastic two weeks hoilday i have ever had the place is amazing.and i have to say swimming with the turtles is the most amazing thing i have ever done. the peple are so freindly and i can honestly say we never had a bad meal anywhere one of my husbands and my own resterauntthat we did return too on several occasions was moby dicks what a lovely plce and they have a lovely play park so yu can enjoy your meal whilst the kids play.and the beach was so child freindly having two younge children they could go quiet far out without it being out of there depth and it was just like being in bath it was so warm
just been to tsilivi with my wife and two children had a great time. we stayed at the planus apartment and only some rooms have a/c at the moment but were installing more as we were there. the caves and ship wreck are a must and for the turtles be just went to kalamaki and hired a pedlo, got a great view of those magnificent creatures much better than a boat trip.
have only been back 3 days and want to go back already.there was 4 of us 2 adults 2 teenagers and we all had a really good time. the best places to eat were the cats whiskers and camelot.cant wait to return
Myself and my boyfreind are going to Tsilivi on 4th of August, staying in the christina studios. Can anyone give us advice on any worth while trips or places to visit?
We are going to Tsilivi in August, staying at the newly built Planos Appartments, does anyone know if they are air conditioned?
My husband and I are going to Tsillivi for 2 weeks in August. We are staying at the 2 Brothers (Tassos) Apartments. Can anyone tell us about these as we can't find anything anywhere.
My wife and I will be staying at the Tsilivi Studios from Jun 27th. However, I cannot seem to find any review that refers to this accomodation directly. Does anyone know where these studios are, is 'Tsilivi Studios' a generic term for any number of studio apartments in and around the resort?
In Tsilivi on June 10th what prices can i expect to pay for beer and food this year ????
we are going to the planos park apartments in july which has just opening in may 2002 would like to know if any one has been yet and if it was nice or if there is anything that we should know before we go
i am going to Tsilivi on the 23rd of june , and have noticed that the flights have been heavily delayed , have you got an idea what is going on as i can not find anything out , all the best andy
do NOT go to the two brothers if you want a nice place to eat go to nemisis in tsilivi and if you want to have a good breakfast go to the troc which is just up the road and a GREAT place at night you can go to the planet bar or the sunset bar which is good for kids because they are really freindly TRUST ME from bob
This is an excellant resort, for couples and people with Kids. For anyong likeing English Food or with fussy kids, go to Fawlty Towers. It`s English run, great value for money and the food is fab. Oh and the couple who run it are so friendly, you`ll be back night after night. Tracy and Martin, from Lymm in Cheshire
The most under-rated Resort on the Island! My girlfriend and I stayed for two weeks in July 2001. Tsilivi is the perfect holiday for anyone looking to combine some of the fun of Laganas and Argassi's bars with great restaurants and more traditional Greek atmosphere. Tsiivi is quaint and pretty whilst at the same time manages to be lively and fun, but don't ask me how! Its a great resort for young couples and families with its huge sloping sandy beach and friendly locals. This is one of the best holidays my girlfriend and I have ever had. P.S: Keep it to yourselves though, we don't want everyone to know how great it is.
me and my friend Becky are thinking of coming to Zante in July and are finding it difficult to figure out the best place to go. Laganas is like Blackpool, so is Argassi (or so we've heard) we're not looking for a party party atmosphere, just some good bars, somewhere we can have a laugh, and find plenty to do, we're both 21, is this the place for us? or is it more for families?
I am going to Tsilivi in May 2002 with my partner and my 10 year old boy. We are staying at the Admirals apartments, has anyone stayed there before ?Is there anything for kids to do ( waterparks or adventure parks )? Could anyone get in touch with things to do in Tsilivi for families.
I was here 4 years ago , and had a great time , a fantastic beach, with great swimming and cool hotels on the beach front, hire a moped and see the whole island its the best way to get around...I found laganas very commercial and dirty.this is the best resort on the island.
my wife jean daughter helen and I have been going to zante for the last 10 years. we now have a few greek friends in tsilivi, we love this island so much we feel compelled to go every year, twice if poss. this year we are staying at the charalambos studios in june and daisy in october. in the past we have stayed at nicoletta, athena, tom&johns, and with herious& yannicia friends in tragaki village 4 klm outside tsilivi. a must if you wish to meet the real greeks. {issto epanidhin}
Myself and my boyfriend are going to Tsilivi this June. Has anybody got any tips on things to do or avoid, or places to go and avoid?
we have just returned from our 11th holiday in tsilivi and would like to say how wonderful the island is we are buying our own house over there soon so we can see all our greek freinds when we like
We have been to Tsilivi nine times now and going back for our tenth time next year. We love it and now our 8 year old daughter loves it too. This year we stayed at the Mavrikos Hotel, the best yet, hotel;excellent , pool;excellent ,atmosphere; excellent, everything; excellent. The fellow guests were first class too. Tsilivi and The Mavrikos Hotel. I would highly recommend to anyone with a family.
W're taking our children (8 & 10) to tsilivi next july, staying at the margaris studios. Has anyone been there, or can reccomend things to see or do. Thanks
Just got back from Tsilivi. Fantastic resort, and hotel was excellent (Tsilivi Beach Hotel). Only complaint was airport, but Island's beauty is well worth the inconvenience. Would recommend this to anyone. Also, hired mopeds, no trouble, roads are very good and drivers patient.
First time to the island on the 23/8/01 for a week. V. impressed with the resort which had plenty for everyone. Tried a different restaurant every night and did not have a bad meal anywhere. Found eating out reasonable even for 5 of us. Plenty of good tavernas and bars. Everyone friendly although you may have to watch out for taxi strikes if your going out of the resort. There were 3 in the week we were there that we knew of. If your going on a turtle tour get one that offers a guarantee to see turtles. We spent about £100 with our tour opperator and were disapointed. You get your money back on private ones. We look forward to going back soon as we found it great - 2 weeks next time.
Just got back from Tsilivi yesterday. We stayed at Planos Apts which was absolutely excellent in every way especially if you have kids. We met some wonderful people to name but a few, Melissa our Cosmos rep was brilliant (hi Melissa), Nikos behind the bar provided the entertainment and Stellios who was a lovely lad who was always smiling and very polite. If you are looking for a good place to eat Popeye's caters for all, the menu go's on and on. The resort itself is very good however outside the resort area there can be a few crummy areas with derelict buildings but that doesnt spoil the rest. If you are looking for a relaxing, friendly place for your holiday then look no further than Tsilivi we would certainly return.
we stopped at the admirals hotel in august and thought the place was exellent(planos that is)that is the place the appartments were in ,not tsilivi. but to us it was perfect only 100 m from a great beach (bouka)perfect for kids. the resort it'self was great, loads to do and great for the kids.although the appartments were a bit noisy we never really spent time there. when in greese do as the greeks do(i say) we loved the place and would go back no problem if you have any doughts about you holiday or want any information please ask us @ davidscales@btinternet.com
Just got back from our 3rd holiday in Tsilivi, been to other places in Greece but others can't compare to Tsilivi if you want a Greek holiday that is commercialised but one where you still feel like you are in Greece with nice tavernas etc this is the place.I can honestly say that we will go back like so many other people do every year.
Tell me whats the best restaurant for real greek food and atmosphere please
i had a great two weeks and want to return with my freinds to see all of my friends that i made out there especially the reps!! i would like to thank jo and melissa because they made my holidey exciting end enjoyable (i expect you to sing in the kareoke every week!!!!) thanks for a un two weeks love vicky
travelled to tsilivi 1st july 2001-14th july 2001. We were expecting a totally untouched resort, mostly it was, the town is more commercialised these days than the older guide books will have you think. But this was a good experience, as we had the best from every angle. The beautiful quiet long beach that stayed shallow when you walked out far!, we had the quiet, neighbourly/friendly area the accomodation is set in and then the nightlife gives an all round holiday experience which was lovely! we would certainly return! beautiful and friendly. Louisa and Peter.x
We loved Tsilivi with the great night life the People are very friendly and the food is excellent. My dad gad a craving for Satsiki which is a Garlic sauce. You make loads if friends there we stayed just on the edge of the town. We went last year in August and we are returning in July this year for 2 weeks. I give it 11 out of 10!
