Once again we ateat Buon Amici twice during our 1 week holiday and cannot fault it!! We recomend this restuarant to all who visit Zante! Please can you have more high chairs as 2 is not enough in a family resturant!!
The seafood at this resturant a just the Best!!! See you all soon!!! xxx
you have to eat here on your holiday..we ate here twice during our 2week stay and we couldnt fault the food..it was served from the pan and parmesan chesse grated from the block...what more can u ask for...felt we were in italy!!
we ate here twice the first time was excellent both service and meal the second was very poor both service and meal my wife had a block of parmesan dropped on her shoulder and hit bruised her badly although the waitress apologised it capped off a very poor second meal. everything was overcooked and the wine was warm. What was strange was we both had the same meal on both occasions.
Always eat here several times during our holiday and once again it was great food and service. Nic, Liza. Ladi, Natasha and all the staff work very hard to make your evening enjoyable.
Hi Everyone,Thankyou once again for the welcome you gave us.We enjoyed every minute and hated the day when we had to leave. We were disappointed with some of the restaurants we visited but not the Buon Amici. Before I forget order some more BABY CHICKENS for September---We will be Back.
Thank you again to Nic, Liza, Natasha, Ladi and all the gang for looking after us all so well in the Buon Amici. This was our 6th visit to the island and we ate here 9 out of the 14 nights. You cannot get a fresher meal, cooked just how you want it with the best ingredients anywhere else on the island. All the other restaurants paled in comparison to the Buon Amici. We believe that Nic and Liza's restaurant has not only maintained it's high standards but has actually got better whilst all the other places we tried have gone down hill. Ladi's cooking is second to none. All the children love him and want to become chef's when they grow older.
Having read such good comments on this website about this restaurant we had to try it and it did not disappoint. The food was fresh and hot- generally a fantastic meal. I had the lasagne and my girlfriend had arabiatta and both were lovely. We would definitely go back. The best Italian I have been to and one of the nicest places in Kalamaki.
A must place to eat if you visit Kalamaki. This is not just an excellent Italian restaurant but one of the best restaurants on the island.
My daughter and I had a meal here on Saturday night our last night in Zante. The food was fabulous the staff were friendly, this is my fifth visit to Kalamki and have eaten at Buon Amici every time I visited, we had lots of nice meals in various restaurants all of them good, but I am so glad we saved the best to last.
Joan and Lynn Barrhi sarah,
thanks for your comment. we were wondering if you were coming back to zante this year, and if yes, have you found work? if not, could you send us an email.
thanks nikos. |
I worked out in zante last summer, and never even realised this restaurant was there...i came back with my sister at the end of the summer, we tried it on the first evening and went back every night for the whole week...it was simply the BEST food i have ever tasted!!!! It is a reason to go back!!!!
Food was fabulous, the staff were friendly - hi to Nikos. This restaurant definitely deserves 10 out of 10
Hi there team Buon Amici,
Keep up the good work
I will be back next year for another risotto con pollo!!!

Yassou everyone!
Just a quick email checking in. I've just got back from working in NYC.
I interned and then believe it or not worked in yet another Italian
restaurant. From the comments on the page it would seem the summer went
well. I'll hopefully be around this summer to say hi and grab a pizza.
Hope you are all well. Miss and think about you all.
Take care.
English Waitress Amy from back in the day!!!
Really enjoyed our meals here - hard to single out any one dish as everything we had was so good. Price wise maybe a little dearer than some other places but worth it for the freshness of the ingredients. It was nice to see everyone again and we'll be back next year.
This was one of the last meals I had in Kalamaki before we left and it was the best, the salmon risotto was unbelievable and the starter, mushrooms in cream and cheese I still dream about! The service and the waiters were fantastic and all I wish is that I had gone there before
lovely place, great setting, the con polo with spaghetti was brilliant, husband had pasta with mussells and scampi, said it was lovely, house wine good too, good service, nice people, well priced, thanks guys
Just to clear up earlier comments, which were truthful comments (as this website is supposed to be) . I agree you do get value for money, the service is good as are the views, like all the other rooftop resturants in Kala. The comment with regards to the water, wasnt a complaint (I am not miserable) but it was a reference in general. Beofre I travelled to Kala, I found these reports very useful in planning our evenings. So it is only fair I returned the favour.
we ate here on 3 occasions and we were only in Kalamaki for one week. I dont think this place was any more expensive then the other restaurants in the area. And if you think it was, you deffinatly get 100% quality food, service and veiws for your money!!! It's the only restaurant i saw on a balcony which i thought made it unique and made the veiws even more spectacular. The pasta dishes are really out of this world and the staff are so friendly. I would deffinatly reccommend you pay at least one visit to this restaurant while you are here- they say you dont know till you try! and if your bothered about the price of water (when your on holiday not worrying about anything!) i suggest you dont eat out. keep up the good work and thanks for making my holiday even more special!
Went twice to this Italian. Very nice. Yes it was more expensive, even the water is a euro more than other places, it comes in a fancy glass bottle. The food is amazing, try the foccica mozerella to start. We both had pizzas both times, because they were that tasty and thin! Deciced on a bottle of wine, which bumps the price up.
We had a lovely meal here although we did feel it was slightly more expensive then other restaurants. We both had pasta one salmon and mine was a tomato based. Fantastic quality and service. Recommend highly
we only had pizza but we all loved it my dad says its the best he ever had we will be back next year
This was our surprize of the holiday, looking for something different one evening and just decided to try Buon Amici. This is by far the best Italian food we have had in a long time. Super food, Super Service, and by this I mean slow unhurried, space and time to digest the wonderful starters, main meals (so many to choose from) to the sweets and calipso coffee. This resturant should be on everyones list of must do at least once. To the very generous friendly family and staff of this resturant our very best wishes and thanks for making part of our holiday a very happy and memorable one.
I love italian food, it is my favourite type of cusine! When my friends and I came across this restaurant on our second night, I was so excited because the place seemed so nice and also the guy outside did offer us free wine! Anyway I had the best meals I think I have ever had all three courses were out of this world for me. For the whole two weeks I kept talking about this place non stop.
Well, what can i say! Buon Amici was absolutely out of this world. The food was just outstanding and the penne picante was the best meal both me and my boyfriend have ever had in any country! The service was fab and the girls, Natasha and Zoe were so helpful. We found this restaurant on our second day and went back four times! The meals were reasonably priced and the wine was excellent. I really dont have a bad word to say about it and we are missing the food sooo much that we are trying to re-create penne picante tonight! lol. Thanks for everything guys.
What can I say - another fantastic holiday and great to see our mates at Buon Amici again. The food was excellent and the service superb. Nothing was too much trouble and we were treated like kings. Really missing you all and hope to return to see you soon.
Thanks to Lisa, Nic, Vlad, Zoe and Tasha for making us so welcome. We enjoyed several great meals here during our stay and as always our holiday disappeared far too quickly.
Thankyou Nik and Lisa for all that you did for my family. The three birthday cakes you provided were excellant and the food was once again first class.I would recomend anyone even if they were not fond of pasta to visit Buon Amici. The staff are great, the wine is good and the ambience just what you could wish for on a warm Kalamaki evening. Thanks once again.Harry, Goga and family.
The food here was nothing short of superb, we were not rushed, and were not hounded by the satff, when we wanted another drink, a waitress appeared, everything was very clean, and the portions were just the right size. A fantasic place to eat.
Just returned from three weeks in Kalamaki and were fortunate to find the Buon Amici on our second night. The food and service is excellent, the kitchen, restaurant and toilets are spotless. The owner Nikos and staff Natasha and Zoe are extremely attentive and friendly. This is an excellent Italian, the pasta dishes and pizza are brilliant and if you like chilli the Spagniolo is superb. I know people go to Greece to eat Greek food but try the Buon Amici you will not be disappointed. John and Sharon (Pontefract)
Consistently high standards for a number of years, in our view, in respect of food, service, settings and indeed all aspects which go to make a superb restaurantg. It may cost a little more but it's well worth it, I wasn't joking when I said to the owner that the meals we had were as good as if not better than those we enjoyed in Italy on our last holiday. Pastas and pizzas are excellent but for us the vegetables served with the meat/fish courses were the favourite, as is the case generally with all the establishments in Zante - not something that can be said back at home - supermarkets have a lot to answer for!
Ate here early in our holidays and got a fantastic meal if a litte expensive. Food very good so expense not an issue.
We loved this place, we all had pizza/pasta (went twice), our children aged 2 and 4 were up to their usual tricks with lots of drink spilling and general hysteria but we were treated like kings, our little girl played with the owner's daughter, went in the kitchens etc. They couldn't do enough for us and the food was fanastic.
Nicos and Liza are great hosts and always make you feel welcome, it's one of our favourite places and we are looking forward to going there in just a few weeks time.
Thank you all at Buon Amici so much for your hospitality and lovely food. We will see you all in 3 weeks.
Lots of Love
Lee & Claire Godden

Well I'm suppose to be writing an assignment due in any minute now at university, but thought i'd write and pass my congratulations on for the summer! I can't believe its been over a yr since i was helping lads set the tables up for the evening, trying to teach english to the kitchin staff and getting shouted at by Nik..ha ha ha! I miss it all. I met some amazing people, ate a lot of fantastic food and experienced a brilliant summer. Its been a tough season for you all, but i want to pass my congratulations on to everyone at Buon Amici! Love and miss you all.....Amy x
nice enough italian restaurant good value pasta dishes
not the greatest but worth a meal
My husband and i decided to try this one while the kids were in the kiddy club, and i must say it was superb, i had the seafood pasta and my hubby had the pizza. for dessert i had the banoffe pie it was lovely. We were going home the next day and decided to take the kids there too and they loved it aswell. The service was good the prices resonable and the view was great we watched a few planes come in to land and the sun setting, all very good.
Firstly we were PESTERED to come eat here every night we walked past, so one night we gave in.
We had a particularly bad meal.
1. The tabel wine was awful... it was infact undrinkable.
2. We thought we would try a cocktail.... They didn't have some of the fruit juices for the ones we chose so we selected two others that they had the juices for.
BIG MISTAKE. They were awful.... I don't think they know how to make a cocktail.
3. We ordered sparkling mineral water but it had already been opened and was semi flat.
4. My partner ordered grilled kalamari but was served battered/deep fried kalamari but when he pointed it out they said that is what the 'grilled' kalamari is..... It also tasted very oily and very much like it had been cooked long before and had been heated up.
5.I must admnit my main course was lovely but not overwhelming.
It was the worst meal and service we had during our stay
We were disappointed with the service here. We were told the meal was served with potatoes and it was not the owner would not come over to speak to us whne we asked to speak to him he just totally ignored us. Needless to say we would not return here.
well to be fair i am pretty late in writing a comment about buon amici seeing as i have been back in the uk about 2 months but here goes at last.....i worked at buon amici for approx 5 weeks whilst i was living in zante and had the best time ever working there.
not only are the staff all friendly but the food is out of this world. i have worked in quite a few restaurants and this has to be one of the cleanest i have ever come across.
the food is extremly fresh (using organic ingredients) and is also very reasonably priced - they even offer a take-away service of both pizza and pasta for after those heavy nights when you just don't think you could eat another kebab!
this place is a must to visit and to all of you working there (nikos, liza, zoe, ladi, deni, sasha, denise, natasha etc) hope you are all well and still enjoying the season, sorry i couldn't come back but see you next year for sure.
love jacqueline xxx
p.s will get those pictures posted a.s.a.p.
really good meal, minestrone soup and con pollo, delicious and good value. they were really busy but the service was good, see you next year xxx
this is a gr8 place i love all the staff nd georgia is just the best thanks for the ice creams
Sorry. As an addition to the previous comment, over four visits we tried Baked aubergine starters, seafood lasagne, roast lamb, fillet of beef stuffed with spinach and feta, my husband ate pasta until it came out of his ears, our son ate pizza and said it was one of the nicest he had in Kalamaki. So much choice and all wonderful.
This restaurant was wonderful. The service excellent and the food delicious. we ate here four times and was not disapointed once. Staff were friendly and courteous but not intrusive. I celebrated my birthday here and the staff made it very special including the delicious dessert that the owner brought to the table resplendent with sparklers as a complimentary birthday treat. Cant fault this place at all. One of the best in Kalamaki.
After reading this website we headed to Buon Amici on our second night in Kalamaki. The restaurant is very good, perhaps not the best place for children, but we had an excellent meal. The meeter/greeter lady was very friendly. Clinically very good food, but not the best evening we had in Kalamaki, but this was probably because we had children with us and it better suited for couples/adults.
Hello, ***********************************
We have just returned from 2 fantastic weeks in Kalimaki zante. We visited Buon Amici twice and we loved everything about it. Simon particularlly enjoyed the, scampi and smoked salmon for starter. Where as my favorite had to be either the delicous bolognais with chilli and a dash of cream on penne pasta(sorry i can't remember the name)or the salmon and aspargas risoto.
Thankyou to everyone, you were all so helpful, lovely and polite. And if it wasnt for the really nice meeter'n'greeter lady who was so welcoming I don't think we would have ever come across the little gem.Buon Amici really did have a touch of class about it. 10/10!!!!
THANKYOU ALL AGAIN
LEAH & SIMON
NOTTINGHAM. ***********************************
Very expensive for a very AVERAGE meal. Definately not as good as when we visited last year.

i have just returned from zante - yesterday ! apart from wanting to return immediately i want to reccommend the buon amici restaurant in kalamaki ! i cannot believe some of the absolute rubbish that one or two people are writing on this web site ! please do not just visit the retaurant once and judge it like this - it is very unfair ! when you have tried a restaurant on a number of occasions like viv (the boss)and i have then we can truly judge the different conditions that operate there like any restaurant. take my word for it - nik and liza have arguably the best restaurant in the whole of kalamaki ! if you like italian food there is nothing better than buon amici - i think we must have spent half of our holiday there !!!!
the staff are excellent and the food is wonderful ! well done nik and family ! (hello liza, george and new baby and dad of course!) and a big thanks to zoe for her brilliant service !
we shall of course be back very soon ! good luck for the rest of the summer ! love john and viv - xxxx
in addition, please send us the recipe for the cozze scampi pasta - viv wants it urgently !!!
thanks again for a wonderful food-filled holiday !
viv and john - xx
Highly recommend you try the stuffed beef, stuffed with spinach and feta cheese and served with fresh vegatables. It was fantastic. Really liked the way the food was served in the pan it was cooked in, you just knew how fresh everything was. Brilliant!!!
FANTASTIC family run business, we ate out at least once a day and this was easily our favourite. Well recommended serving fresh food, some from their own garden, well priced, with a great view. DO NOT VISIT THE AREA WITHOUT EATING HERE!
Another thumbs down from us i'm afraid! Having read many of the good
comments on here before our holiday, it was one of the first restaurants we
ate at, but left completely underwhelmed! First of all when we ordered our
wine we were asked if we had our voucher! It turned out that the girl
downstairs trying to get people to come in was handing out these vouchers for
free wine, but as we had chosen to eat there we didn't get one! Great eh!!! The
place had no atmosphere at all, and the food was nothing special!
Just as i said the food is not consistent. I wish my Alfredo was like yours, unfortunately it wasn't. We have actually eaten in most places in Kalamaki. My review is an honest opinion of the food we had that night, sorry if you don't agree, but you didn't have to eat it!
WHAT RUBBISH (FOR ONE OF THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS)!!! WE ATE HERE 4 TIMES AND WE WERE THERE AROUND THE SAME TIME, MY ALFREDO WAS LOADED WITH BOTH BACON AND MUSHROOMS!!!! WHERE ELSE HAVE YOU BEEN THAT HAS SERVED YOU FRESH MUSHROOMS IN A PASTA? NO WHERE. SO, SINCE YOU KNOW ABOUT GOOD FOOD, NEXT TIME IN ZANTE GO AND EAT AT THE RUBBISH SERVED ON THE MAIN ROAD.
WELL ALL I CAN SAY THAT IT WAS A CLEAN, NICE VIEW, GOOD FOOD AND REALLY FRIENDLY STAFF.THANKS TO ALL FOR MAKING OUR NIGHTS COOL!
Me and 3 friends went to kalimaki for a fortnight and ate at Buon Amici on several accounts. The Food was excellent, even for me who's only idea of italian is pizza. The waitress' were fantastic even though we only got to get to know 2 of you, Rebecca and Zoe, keep up the good work :D and we hope you get them raisons......i mean raise :D
Mark, Simon, Jay and Chris (Zante July 2004)
Sorry Buon Amici, one out of three ain't good. We had one excellent meal last year, followed by one mediocre one on our last night. We wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt this year following a rave review from a couple we met. We had 2 Alfredo with penne which was bland and tastless with not a lot of ham or mushroom, 1 Lasagne, which consisted of 2 layers of pasta, spot the mince meat and a bucket of salt..awful!! My son had an Hawiian Pizza which he quite enjoyed. We will return to Kalamaki but never to Buon Amici the quality of food is just not consistent.
excellent Italian food.We ate here 4 times, found the food high quality. The spagetti with asparagus, ham and peas was to die for.On an evening when we had been on a choppy boat trip and only fancied soup and pizza, we had the best pizza we have ever had.We found the staff brilliant, always happy, and their relaxed dress added to the atmosphere.
dear matthew,
i would like to take the time to express our appologies for your bad night. My husband (the one that was having an argument with the chef)doesn't take mistakes lightly, so you should feel good that he cares what does out and won't let things slide. As for your belly aches, lunch was what effected you, and was irritated by your dinner. We do appologise nevertheless.
take care and we do hope to see you again
liza
My family and I ate at this restaurant after several people had recommended it to us. We thought the service and food was out of this world. Working in the catering industry myself I realise that when places get busy mistakes can be made, after all we are all human! The waitresses couldn't do enough for us and in my opinion they all looked very smart and you have to remember, after all, you're not in England - flip flops are allowed in Greece!!!
I would strongly recommend a visit to this place, a touch of Italy at your doorstep! Fantastic place Nikos and Liza keep up the good work Zoe, Jacqui and Debbie! See you next year (hopefully!)
Jean Davis xx
p.s for the previous comment, food takes 8 hours to digest so I would suggest that you don't go back to the place that you ate lunch that day!!
Myself and my girlfriend ate here 3 times on our holiday and left with mixed opinions after our third visit. Visits one and two were good. Food was good and service was friendly, although the waitresses are dressed a little too casually. On the third visit however, we left disappointed. Our food order was wrong and when we told the waitress, changing it was not a problem. However, there was then a row between cook and waitress about our wrong order that took place in full view of the whole restaurant - how unprofessional and embarassing! To top the evening off, myself and girlfriend were BOTH sick on our way home and left with upset stomaches the next day. Hopefully, we just caught the restaurant on a very bad night. However I don't think I will be retuning again.
Our fourth year to this great restaurant. It never fails to impress us. The quality of the food is fantastic; everything is freshly prepared and tastes out of this world. The Spagniolo is a winner if you fancy chilli with your pasta and beef strips. The Pasta Romana was my all time favourite; you'll never taste anything like this in the UK! The portions were more than enough, struggled to get the beer down as there was hardly any room...! We think this is the only restaurant where you do not feel as if you are crammed in like sardines. You can take your time, enjoy the food and drink and watch the sun go down over the hills... Great experience...! Thanks again to Nick, Liza, Laddy and the girls for helping us to have another great holiday in this wonderful resort!
p.s. Come on Greece in the Final!!
In one week we ate here four times so you can't really say better than that !! we visited in the first week in June 2004 and tried lots of different dishes, pizza's are great and pasta dishes are fantastic.
And didn't we say that Greece had a better chance of winning Euro 2004 than England ???!!! Clare and Dan, Nottinghamshire.Jun 04
have eaten here on many occasions, once in a party of nine, we did not pre book, meal and the service were both excellent, minestrone soup was to die for, bolognaise was superb, and we all left with fully satisfied stomachs and happy memories. will always make a point of visiting this restaurant at least once during our stay. well done guys.
I was the waitress at Buon Amici during summer 2003. I find the comments made prior to my entry very hard to believe. We often dealt with large parties who left extremely happy and returned during their stay in Zakynthos. You must have been very unfortunate on the night you visited as I cannot think of any other reason you might have been unhappy. C'mon Buon Amici make 2004 as successful as last summer. Thinking of you all. Amy Lee xxx
We as a family of 15 of us were not to happy as we read the comments before going. My son and brother in law went early on in the day to book a table for 15 they said no problem they could handle it and would give free wine that was on offer at the time. We roll up at the time booked table not even ready! Then waited ages between courses. And the size of the meals were not value formoney my brother in law had to buy a burger after his meal. The risoto was not cooked properly the rice was raw i know risoto is not meant to be soft but really !!!! The atitued of one waiter was awful. One waiter spilt wine over my sister in law .They canot handle large parties i wish they had said in the first place as this would have saved us time and money
Went to Buon Amici on the last night of our holiday and had
easily the best meal during our week on zante.
Would recommend it to anyone, Food, Service and Price all
excellent.
The Pizza is devine, easily the best Pizza Ive ever had!
ATE AT THIS RESTUARANT A NUMBER OF TIMES FOOD ALWAYS EXCELLENT THE SOUP IS VERY GOOD AND ALWAYS FRESHLY MADE,LAMB CHOPS WITH PESTO SAUCE IS VERY NICE AS ARE ALL THE MEALS. BASED AT DRUNK CORNER ABOVE CAR & BIKE HIRE A MUST VISIT RETUARANT.
Food excellent,my partner and i really enjoyed it***
Really recommend the minestrone soup-devine!!!
All pasta dishes are served in the individual pot they were cooked in which i thought was a really nice thing - proved all dishes are cooked fresh.
Liza/Nick
Best wishes for the new summer season. Looking forward to seeing you early in June.
To all our old and new customers,
We would like to take the oppertunity to thank you all for your patronage, and we hope to see you all very soon again!
regards the staff.
I have often sung the praises of this restaurant, and they rightly deserve every accolade they recieve. We visited Buon Amici three times during our stay there last week and thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
It is easy to sing the praises of any business when things are just as you would like them to be. But anyone can make an error or have an "off" day. So what if some aspect is lacking? There were a couple of issues over which my wife and I weren't totally comfortable. I brought these to the attention of Liza and Niko and must applaude the professional and courteous way they dealt with the problem. They deserve all of the praise and success they have earnt. Well done Liza and Nik. May your business continue to grow and prosper.
Hey guys...long time no comment i hear you cry!!
Sorry its taken so long but i've had a lot to sort out recently...ugh!
Hope everyone is doing well and that business is good!
Just a short note in reference to my favourite italian joint. Amazing food, unreal hospitality and great surroundings! I'd be lying if i said we didn't have our ups and downs, but all on all I had the fortune to enjoy an amazing summer with great people!
I'll be in touch soon
Lots of love
Amy'la x
My family and I just Loved this restaurant. We stayed in Lagana but went to Kalamaki to see what there was to offer and walked into Italy itself at its best. After that one night at Buon amici we travelled to Kalamaki every night for dinner it was that superb. The food is excellent and so tasty, my Hubby had lasagne three times in a row thats how much he enjoyed this homemade special. The staff were great and a big thumbs up to Liza and Niko for their hospitality and for making our dining experience so lovely. Will definately be back next year just for you Buon Amici.
I come from Rome and I know what a lasagne tastes like and the lasagne at Boun Amici was so good that i felt i was home eating my mama's lasagne. the staff are very nice people and Niko and Liza made my stay in Zakynthos so much better and worth while that i will come back and eat dinner everyday there. thank you thank you
Ciao
The resturant was not the best the food was dry and uninteresting on the whole. The free wine as awful!!!!
However the staff were friendly.
I know everyone else seems to love this restaurant but we thought it was distinctly average. The location leaves a lot to be desired, it is above a car rental shop and overlooks the main road and some poor Greek persons house! The service was good and the prices the same as everywhere else but the food was just okay. The lasagne was certainly not homemade and the lamb was the same dish offered in any of the other restaurants along the road. If you come from an Italian family (as we do) or like real Italian food, give this one a miss.
Well done Nic, Stuart, Amy and everybody else involved - including Dad who was drafted in when numbers were high. Brilliant food, brilliant friendliness and great service bearing in mind the staffing levels. Viv will be returning to work here very soon, but only if Nic agrees to pay 400 euros per week for a four day week (40 hours). We loved it and send everyone our best until we return.
Thank you liza for a truely authentic Italian meal it felt as though i was in Italy itself, wonderfully superb a must for everyone visiting the island.
Just to say that we have visited Kalamaki three times in the past twelve months and that Boun Amicis is a brill place to eat.The food is lovely and service is very good. All staff are really nice and friendly and have welcomed us on every occasion that we have visited[of which there have been many]We have been treated like old friends and not tourists[which you find in a lot of holiday resorts].Tried most things on the menu and not had a bad meal with any of them.
Have just been to Zante for the 4th time and still rate this restaurant as one of the best. The staff are wonderful with the children and certainly made our holiday that little bit extra special.
The food is great, pasta cooked to perfection, and nothing is too much trouble. Much appreciation to Nico,Lisa,Stuart and to all the staff,- could you now please open up a restauarant in england??
Cheers Ken. I'll find it now. Hopefully mon appetit will never have been so bon.
Danny, Buon Amici is at the Laganas end of Kalamaki, on the corner of the road that goes to the airport. It's on the first floor above a car rental place (well it was for the last 2 years) and a snack bar. Bon appetit.
Where exactly is this restaurant? We're going back to Kalamaki in 3 weeks and it sounds like we should give it a go.
Visited twice, the first time the restaurant was quiet and the food/service was excellant. The 2nd visit the place was very busy, the service and food suffered. Worth a visit but if very busy walk away, as quite a few people did after waiting too long to order
This place was on our 'to visit' list and we were not disappointed!
We were tempted up the stairs by the offer of free wine, (very tasty), and the promise of a good meal.
We initially thought the menu was limited, but it was promoted as Italian, so we settled down to choose our portions while sipping the wine!
Four of us had pasta, each different and a pizz was shared by a dad and daughter. The pasts were simply delicious - the subtle flavours of each dish coming to life in the mouth! we all ended up having a taste of everything else! portions were not small, especially the pasta, which almost filled me up(!)
We went for a selection of deserts and have to say that the Tiramasou and cheese cake were the best ever tasted! The strawberry sorbet was also delicious.
Overall the prices were a little higher than other places, but this was compensated for by the experience of the food.
Stuart came out to check we were happy, and all in all we had such a good time there that we returned again and enjoyed a different selection of main courses!
i f we go back to Kalamaki, we will be visitibg Buaon Amici again!
My family and I have just returned from Kalamaki, July 14, and have to rate Buon Amici as way out in front for quality and value. We tried many of the restaurants on the strip and in Zante town as well, and always came back here as the best value for money. The food is exquisitely cooked with subtelties of flavour not found in the slightly cheaper, but mass produced "chips and nominal salad/rice" establishments.
As the saying goes, you pays your money and takes your choice. Highlights for my family included:
Minestrone soup - simply delicious
Salmon risotto - I can't recommend this strongly enough - the rice had just the right consistency and the flavours were fantastic
Stuffed beef - a feta and basil stuffing complemented with rosemary roast potatoes was outstanding
The four of us ate very well on each of our 4 visits for around 40 euros (the kids are young teenagers eating adult portions by the way) - this was exceptional value for freshly cooked food that was delicious, especially when complemented by a warm reception and excellent service.
Best wishes to you all
Unfortunately just returned from the beautiful resort of Kalamaki with the family. We only found this delightful rest. on our last night, a great shame as the food was superb, not to mention the friendly waitress and excellent service provided by all the staff. I find it hard to believe that people complain about the price, where back home do you get such a great meal for less than the price charged! The little attention to detail and the originality in presentation really made the whole night a wondeful experience. This place is a must for an enjoyable meal with the family!
Just returned from a 2 week break in kalamaki, went here on the first night mainly due to viewing these pages and the way the place presents itself from the street and inside. The food was quite tasty the service was good and at the time i thought the price was reasonable, however it was almost double what we payed in every other restaurant we visited in the resort and we also ordered more drinks and starters in the other places !
What was a let down however was the choice on the menu which was very limited.
Its a nice place but not anything special.
Fantastic meal returned following evening for more of the same. Try the Cartocci (may be spelt wrong) seafood pasta excellent.
We have been eating here since the restaurant opened 3 years ago and always look forward to returning. Nico & Lisa are excellent hosts and all the staff are very friendly. The food was fantastic and although Naomi tried, on several occasions, to tempt us with dessert we were just too full! The wine they produce themselves is really good - try it once and you won't be tempted by the remainder of the wine list. Thanks must also go to Stuart who kindly shared the recipe for cooking chicken livers to keep them moist.
we really liked it here, the minestrone soup was brilliant, the chicken con pollo was good as are the pizzas, the spaghetti bolognese is the best i've ever had. will be back.
We ate here on our first night - service was good (but not exceptional) - chef did come out to check everything was OK which was nice. Price was a bit expensive compared to other places and portions werent enormous, but pizza and pasta were very nice.
The food was good - ask Lisa/Nic for anything you fancy and they will make sure you will get it.... Every dish is made to order and you can certainly taste the difference!! We WILL be back hopefully in September for more of the same - the best of luck to The Buon Amici and staff

Just being boring and agreeing with ninety percent of the other comments. Marvellous place, highly recommended. Out of seven nights in Kalamaki, we ate there for four!!! Marvellous menu, catering to all tastes, and the quality of the cooking was beyond critique - a credit to Stuart, the chef. Also very good service, even though the place was teeming and the nice personal touch by all members of staff and the manager.
Hi Nicos !!!!
Like I promised - heres my honest good comments !!!
First of all the location is great. When the suns been beating down all day and you need a bit of a cooling breeze, this is the place to eat as its located on a large clean balcony on the first floor with good views over the main road.
We both opted for Nicos own made (white) wine which was complimetory to our meal. Like most things in life, you don,t expect much for free. BUT surprisingly, it was very nice. So good we went through two bottles !! Nicos makes his own wine both red and white. Worth giving it a go.
Both of us tried the pizza (try Marinera with Anchoves). Both pizzas were very good and were not shy on the cheese. The crust is superbly thin and makes the pizza.
It was a real shame that we ate in here the last night as we would have definatly have eaten here again.
Hope all go's well Nicos. I shall show off my T shirt in the gym !!!
This was one of the best meals we had all holiday. It was very clean, the food was fantastic, the service friendly and efficient, the view excellent AND you could actually get some decent wine which didn't run the risk of setting alight if it got too close to the candle on the table! A little more expensive than most of the restaurants around, but definitely worth it.
Found Boun Amici's in July 2002 after a work friend had recommended it.We loved it so much that we went back to Kalamaki ten weeks later for more of the wonderful food.We are now going back in two days time for another fortnight of scrumptious food and excellent company.
Liza and Nikos n' Stewart have become really good friends who keep in touch with us [so we don't feel like just another tourist as you do in some holiday destinations].I would highly recommend this as the best place to eat in Zante
This place is excellent its a must if you stay in kalamaki
Well, what can we say... This is truly the best restaraunt that we have ever been to. The food is excellent and the staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. Stuart will often come out of the kitchen to ask if the meals are to your liking especially if you have asked for part of it to be altered (more/less chilli, more/less garlic etc etc.)Nic and Liza are the best hosts anybody could wish for and they have become great friends and have made our third trip to the island a holiday to remember - thanks guys !!
This is the most delicious food in Kalamaki& Laganas without a doubt. The view, the peace, and the tastes are worth the climb up the stairs, and if you chat up the PR you'll get free wine.
food was excellent, prices slightly more than elsewhere, but free wine and free ice cream for children, recommend a visit.
I go against the grain here and thought that Buon Amici was just ok. Maybe we caught them on a bad night. Although we were the only people in the restaurant (early evening) we waited around 10 mins before we were asked for drinks. The Bruschetta was absolutely laden with cheese (a first for me to see cheese on Bruschetta), as were the pizzas. Also, we ordered more drinks and watched them warm on the bar for 10 mins, before reminding the waitress. It was a nice place though and would recommend it and presume that we were just unlucky.
We passed Buon Amici on the first night as we wanted to look around - worst mistake we ever made. It was recommended very highly on our last night by a taxi driver of all people, so we decided to try it. It has to be the best restaurant we have ever been in, very clean, staff are all very friendly, and nothing is too much for them. As for Stuart the cook (he says is a cook as he cooks the food not chefs it) he has to be one the nicest guys around. The food is excellent, just a pity he can't be cloned and put in the restaurants around England. Definitely the best on the island. See you next year Stuart.
OUTSTANDING OUTSTANDING OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!
This restaurant is most definately the best Italian restaurant on the whole of Zakynthos island, and i would know this because I have been going to the island since 1995. The food is outstanding, the service impecable and the atmosphere amazing. The hosts Niko and Liza as well as the chef Stuart make the whole experience even more worthwhile. A definate must for everyone!!!!!!
Went to Kalamaki in July 2002[a friend had found Boun amici two weeks before we went]she recommended it .Tried it out and it was amazing !The chef[Stuart]will cater for personal tastes[just ask him !! nothing is too much trouble].The owners Nikos and Liza are lovely and so are all the staff. We loved it so much that we have just spent another two weeks in Kalamaki[most of the time spent in Boun Amici's]It was our anniversary and the owners found out and got us a scrummy cake. I can personally recommend the con polo[Sharon's version-ask STUART !!!] Not only had some amazing meals but have now got some wonderful friends from Boun Amici's.
Sought out Buon Amici on recommendations from this site before we went. Hadn't worked out where it was the first night, but had a nice chat with Cheryl when we found it later. Both had lasagne on our second night (which was both wonderful and very filling). Ate here again on our last night. Think the food is great, as are the people, and the atmosphere is nice. Lovely to sit enjoying a meal and have Stuart (the chef) visit for a chat. Definitely well worth a visit if you're in Kalamaki (or Laganas).
waiters friendly.pasta was cooked to perfection.
Excellent Italian food, all served in pans! Really good views and service make the meal even better. Try and time it at about sunset see the change in views. You must try it at least once. We did.
We were also persuaded by the young Scottish girl (obviously doing a good job) try this restaurant. Food was excellent with a choice of pastas and sauces and served fresh in a big pan at your table. Price was a little higher than elsewhere but we had no complaints about the size of the portions. One of the best Italian restaurants anywhere. P.S. The complimentary wine is lethal!!!
We visited Buon Amici on our first night in Kalamaki. We ordered a pasta, pizza and Greek Salad which were all very good,in particular the pasta which was served in it's cooking pan.The house wine was good and cheap. If you like Italian you can't go wrong here.
WE DIDDN'T GO IN,BUT I PROMMISED THE SCOTTISH GIRL OUTSIDE THAT I WOULD MAKE A COMMENT,SHE WAS VERY POLITE AND OUR FREINDS FROM COVENTRY WENT IN AND SAID THAT IT WAS EXCELLENT. WE WILL GO IN NEXT JULY.
Really fantastic food. Very clean restaurant and lots of delicious dishes to choose from. The chef is English so the food is cooked well!!!
ABSOLUTELY GEORGEOUS! Definately the best (and cleanest) restaurant in Kalamaki by far. The food was beautiful. Service was great. Would recommend the chicken liver pasta dish on the menu. (Ask the chef to mix in a bit of cream to loosen it up a bit) I had it and ate every bit of it. Delicious! Chef was top man. Such a shame we only ate there twice. If we come back I dont think I would eat anywhere else. My choice. Thanks to all the staff there who were brilliant.
This was our 3rd time in Zante and I rate this restaurant the best ever. The meals were absolutely superb. Everything is freshly prepared, and you can see that the kitchen is spotless. The staff are friendly, and the chef from London is not only a fantastic cook but is also a total nutter!! My young son loved him!! Once you sample the delights of Boun Amici,- you will not want to eat anywhere else.
WE WERE PERSUADED TO TRY THIS RESTAURANT BY A NICE YOUNG SCOTTISH GIRL .AND WERE VERY IMPRESSED ,BUT BEWARE OF THE COMPLIMENTARY CARAFFE OF WINE AS IT IS FAIRLY LEATHAL. APPARANTLY THE BOSS MAKES IT HIMSELF!!!
ITALIAN RESTAURANT OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY .GREAT SERVICE, THE VERY BEST FOOD(MMMTHE SAMON&PRAWN) ONLY THERE 2ND SEASON BUT JUST THE BEST FOOD IN TOWN.
We missed this restaurant last year despite the very large illuminated signs. It is located on the junction of the road to the airport and the Laganas Road. Don't look for it at ground level 'cos it's on the first floor above Yiannis car rentals. Very cosy and romantic sitting on the balcony watching the world go by. When I go to Greece, I like to eat in Greek restaurants. I would never dream of eating Indian or Chinese 'cos I can (and do) enjoy their food anytime at home. But I was persuaded by a lovely young lady at our hotel to give Buon Amici a try. I can't praise it highly enough. Stuart the Chef is a formally trained Chef, not a cook, and has worked in high class hotels and restaurants Europe wide. His food is a work of art. His Scampi Rissoto is to die for! In the end we eat at Buon Amici 6 times. Nik and Nikos were the perfect hosts. Try Buon Amici, but be prepared to become addicted to it!
the italian restaurant is actually called buon amici! we had a terrific time, the service was impecible for greek standards as for the cleanliness it was tops!!!! the food is served to your table in pans, which kept our food nice and warm until the end.it is very romantic and you see kalamaki from above. an absolute must if you are going to zakynthos for a holiday!!!!!
