Great hotel - situated close to beach, shops, bars, etc; polite, welcoming staff; clean facilities - what more could you ask for? However, if you want to spend some time by the pool, make sure you're there early as other holidaymakers reserve a sun-lounger by placing a towel on it - despite requests from the hotel staff not to do so! Was often tempted to gather up all the towels and dump them somewhere!
This was our 5th visit to the Contessina and each year the hotel gets better, especially the Reception staff We will shortly be booking up again for next year as we know that we will be assured of a most enjoyable holiday.
Thanks Mark, we will have a few at the sunset ,thats a certainty, as long as they have stocked up on the JD and Metaxa, and dont forget the great breakfasts they do
Hi Neil,
Great hotel with excellent facilites and friendly and efficient staff. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in July last year and can not wait to return this year. See you there on the 4th July 2008 if you are lucky enough to be going back as I know the hotel gets booked up x x

Amazing hotel!! we went last year on 15th june for a week it was the best holiday ever! we have just booked into this hotel again going 19th may-26th. im just a bit worried about the weather this time around. Has anyone stayed here around the dates we are going?
Arrived back from Contessina 5th October have just booked for July 4th 2008.
Had a great time in August. The hotel was lovely and clean and staff very friendly.
we stayed here for 2weeks,30thAug/13Sept 07,we must say this is the best hotel have stayed at in Greece. The hotel was spotless, rooms were cleaned every day,and we mean cleaned not just a quick wipe round,sheets/towels changed 2/3 times a week, pool and pool area cleaned daily. The staff were very friendly, polite and very helpfull.Good pool bar good food and prices, all in all a great hotel with a good location could not fault it.We hope to be back next year 08 and see you all again.

Arrived home on the 20th of july, this hotel is the best we have ever stayed in, everyone is so helpful
Fantastic Hotel. Highly Recommended. The staff are so friendly and helpful.Cleaned daily so everything was spotless.
Cant Wait To Get Back
Can't give this hotel enough superlatives. From the first day welcome and introduction by Nick at the front desk, to the goodbye on the last day by Jenny, the hotel was full on, giving customer satisfaction. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the cleaners do an excellent job of keeping it clean. Iilias and Nick at the bar kept us occupied with their supply of cocktails, and Melly was always helping with a smile.
just got back from a week at the contessina....
Just got back from Tsivilli and a fantastic stay at the Contessina Hotel. It looked like they had just refurbished it and they have done a very good job! It was very modern and stylish, when we arrived we were shown into reception and offered a welcome drink. We were then given our room card, we were on the 2nd floor above reception, at first we were disapointed not to have a pool view but very quickly realised we prefered the view of the tree's and watching the comings and goings of the street!
Oh yes! Third time to Zante and third time to the Contessina going early this year as we can not wait, will be flying from Robin Hood in the UK on the 14th! - Absolutely brilliant hotel with excellent staff (Hello Tina!) including a great cleaning team that are always polite and very professional. We are also booking next year when we get back! Pool and location of the hotel is great!

Arrived back in UK 5/10/06 after spending 11nights at the Contessina Hotel, Had a great time , weather a bit windy first two days, mega thunderstorm , than fantastic! Hotel and staff very good, breakfast much better than we thought, sausages, eggs, beans, yogurt, fruit, cooked meats, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, various breads, preserves, fruit juice, water, cereals(we take our own as theirs taste like cardboard!) Would definitely return, Great tavernas, the best been Fat Olives, best bar Freddies(on the beach)
Hi Emma,I did reply to your comments on the Contessina but it seems to dissapeard of this site.Just in case you missed it thanks again for your help.It seems our friends went to the Contessina restuarant it also has appartments, and is up hill and steps,so they saw the name Contissena and presumed it was the hotel we have booked for 07.Anyway its all sorted now, there are no steps or hills, like you said, seems about right for them to go to wrong place. Thanks again for your help.Alan
Hi Kay we have just returned from 2 weeks at the Contessina the hotel is spotless staff are very friendly and helpfull from the girls on reception (Vicky and Tina} to the maids there is not a television in the rooms who needs television on holiday you can watch football in the bar we took our kettle with us as there is not any tea making facilities in the rooms
Really lovely hotel. Very clean at all times, excellent location. Breakfast was much better than I was expecting, Fruit, yoghurt, toast, bread, rolls, croissants, eggs, beans, sausages etc.
Alan, Just come back from Contessina. The road it is on comes from the main road down to the beach. It is on an incline, but I wouldn't say it was a steep hill at all. No different from anywhere else in Tsilivi. For the evenings it's very central to restaurants & bars, plus there is a small taxi rank not too far should you want to get to the other end of Tsilivi (I believe 5euros a trip). It is a lovely hotel, but I think only 1 of the 3 buildings has a lift, so I would suggest it is noted in your booking for a ground floor room or specifically that building. Hope that helps.
Hi,can anyone tell me if the Contissena is situated up a steep hill.We have friends who are on Zante at the moment, who rang to say it is up a steep hill,as my wife has walking difficulties this would be a problem ,as 6 of us have just booked for Sept 07, & the brochure or this site says nothing about any hills. We would appriciate a fairly quick reply,so we could have a word with our travel agent and sort it out if this is the case.Unless our friends have been to look at the wrong hotel.Thank you.
My husband, daughter and I returned from the Contessina Hotel on the 1st September after a fabulous 2 weeks stay for the 2nd year running!! Once again the hotel staff and the cleanliness of the hotel were 100%!!
I have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Contessina with my husband and we couldn't fault it. The whole hotel is very clean and well maintained . The staff are all friendly, polite and helpful and we didn't want to leave. We would go back tomorrow if we could but we'll have to wait a while i'm afraid.
Surely you are not going all the way to the beautiful Greek Island of Zante to go to McDonalds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just returned yesterday. Hotel staff all very friendly, speak perfect English. Breakfast obviously improved, considering previous adverse comments, we found it OK. Pay for the air-con it is worth it and very quiet. Food and drinks all very reasonable. Maid service excellent hotel extremely clean, as was the pool. Some noise at night, mainly due to inconsiderate guests and interesting Greek plumbing. Steer clear of hotel entertainment, and stay out late until it finishes absolutely appalling!!!! Great holiday enjoyed by all of us, would recommend the hotel.
We are going on 18th august for 2 weeks never been to greece before and need to know following I am taking our 8 yr old daugter how far is the beach?? we are beach people and how much is it for 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella?? thanks diana
its nice to have it though, they dont really have you over a barrell, if you want it pay for it and if you dont dont pay for it just live with the heat
I've just been told it is 6 euros per day for a fridge and 6 euros per day for the air conditioning. I think this is expensive. Normally it is 4 euros. That's over an extra £100 on top of your holiday cost. My sister rang the hotel to find out. They have you over a barrell as you need both in the heat.
thanks for that we will try any where to eat
We are going to Contessina on the 18th August for 2 weeks. We went as the same time last year and thought it was great. The hotel is fantastic and the resort is really nice can't wait to go back in August.
we are due to go to this hotel on the 31st of august any any other peeps going
We were at the Contessina Hotel 19th May to to 2nd June. On first getting into reception we were greeted very warmly by Angie the (best) receptionist. She then helped us to our apartment. The room itself was basic but very clean and we had no complaints (apart from the shower hose was split but within 1/2 hour after reporting it the hose was fixed!!) The pool was lovely and enough room for everyone to sit around. The staff couldnt do enough to help, they really made our holiday and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was good but not enough choice for Vegetarians. We hired a fridge while we were there, it is a must but rather expensive we thought. We would definately go back again sometime.
this is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in in the islands. The staff are second to none, everybody is friendly, nothing is too much bother for them. the reception staff Angie and nikki are lovely and speak excellent english. We stayed on the top floor and could not believe the size of the room and the decor was lovely. Our balcony faced the front of the hotel and at first we were disappointed, but to get up in the morning and sit on your balcony overlooking olive groves was something else.

Just got back from the Contessina Hotel last night. It was fantastic. In a great location just a couple of minutes from the beach and bars, and the staff couldnt do enough for you. The glass of orange juice on arrival was very welcome in the heat!
The staff work so hard and they are always friendly and helpful. You have to pay for the air conditioning and fridge but it is well worth it.Ive just got back from a weeks stay at the Contessina Hotel (23 - 30 june) and it was great! Ive been to many hotels on different greek islands and I have to admit this was my favourite..I woke up expecting the usual continental breakfast of bread, jam and if were lucky cornflakes but we had a variety of choices including sausages, beans, french toast, eggs, variety of buns, butter/jam/marmelade, cornflakes, toast, museli, orange juice, tea/coffee. . what more could you possibly want?? The pool was fantastic and it was lovely and warm, just jump straight in and there was no gasp from the cold at all! The bar was always open with great snacks and a working menu, all through the day.. The staff always had a smile on their faces and were helpful to any queiries.. The Air Conditioning was 6 euros a day and believe me you WILL pay for it because it is worth it! Location is also good, 2mins walk from the beach and even less to the shops, virtually next door..also their is an outside big screen projector which came in handy for all the world cup matches!! cant say enough about this hotel, was brilliant
We should have stayed here from the 15th june to the 29th june 2006 but found out two days before we were due to leave that the hotel informed Thomas cook that the hotel was overbooked. we ended up having to change hotels and resort because of this
Each year the Contessina Hotel gets better and better. The cleanliness is always excellant and the breakfasts improve each time we go back. The three lovely ladies in reception are among the most friendly people you will meet on Zakinthos. Can not wait to go back again next year.
brilliant pool!
Hi , can anyone tell me how much the a/c and frigde is to hire in the Contessina.
we would like to know if you need to request a fridge before hand or how do you go about booking one in the contessina hotel and how much is it. is it best to request a room overlooking the pool. we have heard bad report about the breakfast what is so bad? thanks Stuart
Can anyone tell me where on the map of Tsilivi the Hotle Contessina is, please?
stayed at the hotel 13th to 22nd october. hotel was very clean bar snacks very nice ,staff very pleasent.the only two things that disapointed me were the breakfast and the pool .the breakfast was pretty basic and cold ,the pool was very clean but perhaps due to the time of year too cold also not ideal for young children there is a small pool for kids but in peak season this would be cramped this hotel was geared more towards an older age group .this will not stop me from going back infact after having seen some of the other hotels would be the only one i would book
Myself and my friend Sue had the best two weeks of our life in Tsilivi. The Contessina hotel and staff were fantastic, especially Aaron (Ron) the night shift reception man! He carried us to our hotel room when we were too drunk to make it past the beautiful swimming pool without falling in.
Pauline could you help me? I'm flying to zakynthos on monday to stay in the contessina, could you give me some advice on things to do and what is on offer? I've never been to zakynthos before and i would love to speak to someone who has stayed there before!
i'm going to tsilivi aug 2006 could anyone tell me if there is any where i can go fishing, thanks
hello to everybody!!!!!!!!
We enjoyd our stay at Hotel Contessina. It's a nice and clean accomodation. The bathroom had a very narrow shower. After using it we could dry the whole thing. Breakfest is a bit boring. The location was a bit of a disappointment. They told us that's it was located near a quit road but that's not true. Our room was at the front of the hotel and there's a lot of noise coming from the bar at the uposit site of the road. There's a lot of noise inside the hotel. Drunk people, screaming childeren and snoring neighbours!!!!!!!! The pool is great with lot's of sunbeds. It's very anoying that people place there towels on the beds without using them. Hotelpersonal should do something about that. The personal is mostly kind. Except the man at bar!! I think he was tired after a busy season. It 's kind of difficult to find a nice restaurant. Don't go to Indian feast.( your stomach will not survive this culinar trip!!!) Erlys and Athena are very nice. Good food and friendly staff. The waiter at erly's keeps saying thankkkkkkkkkkkkkk you!!!!!!!!!!!!
oops sorry its www.contessinahotel.gr
came back from contessina on monday 12th. had a really good holiday there! everything was perfect except for the breakfast. it was really plain and boring and the same thing every morning which really got on your nerves after 2 weeks! never been anywhere so clean and the pool and loungers never got too busy. Eva at reception was exceptioanlly helpful, the others seemed miserable but 99% of greeks are like that.lol. would advise that you dont book trips with your tour operator as you will find it much much cheaper to go with one of the people organising the trips in tsilivi. we booked a turtle island cruise with pelagros and it cost us 15 euros each but if id gone with thomson itd have cost 39 euros each! was a brill day out, boat really nice and we saw a turtle!he kept going round and round the boat and popping his head up every now and again!took some amazing photos from that trip, would highly recommend it.location is spot on, not too busy and not too quiet with really good food at good prices.evening entertainment in hotel could be better but me and my boyfriend enjoyed anyway.we lost 100 euros :-( and managed to last the last 4 days on 25 euros!couldnt believe it!lol.all in all the hotel is really worth the money and there arent many places in greece better than tsilivi in my opinion.everything was just right!including the weather! (hadnt rained since april!!!)contessina has a website www.contessina-hotel.gr if you wanna look. hope anyone else going enjoys as much as we did, bon voyage!
