lovely setting, service and superb food.

Another visit to Zakynthos truly memorable by a meal here.
The Lamb Klefitko is a must. BUT, only if you are very hungry, as my sister found out, also the chicken souvlaki with bacon is good.
The position of this taverna with views out to sea make it even better.

This was the first time for myself and family to Zante, Saw Zepos on the site just before we came, really nice taverna, very friendly place. My son and I had souvlaki, Chicken and Mix. My Daughter had Chicken nuggets, Thats all she will eat, But she said they were the best. My Wife had a Italian meal. Thanks again Phil

We returned yesterday from our two weeks holiday in Kalamaki and we already miss Zepo's Taverna.
The service is perfect, the meals are brilliant. Every evening I took another meal and I never was diappointed. And the housewine - mmmhhhhh. The staff gave us a warm welcome - we thought we were members of the family. KEEP YOUR FAMILIY SPIRIT!!!
If you visit Zante don't forget to visit Zepo's Taverna - you will not regret it. I promise :-)))

I do apologise for your disturbing experience of being a poor chef but maybe you should try your hand at another career as obviously the trauma of being a chef has caused you some considerable memory loss! I do believe you have never cooked a single item of food at the above Taverna????????

Definitely the best restaurant in Kalamaki. The location is excellent, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere! The service was good and the food excellent! Zepos was hard to find, you may need to get a taxi if you are staying at the Laganas end of the Kalamaki road but it is worth it!

You can find every kind of restaurant. We spend most of our holiday evenings in restaurants rather than bars and have a meal with drinks so we liked the traditional taverna type restaurants and we have spent from €6 - €12 each for a meal again it depends on where you eat and what type of food you like. My problem is I like it all so had to try them all.

One of the best restaurants we went to whilst here, had a couple of meals here and couldn’t fault it in anyway.

"FUSSY EATERS BEWARE THIS TAVERNA". As the previous writer i'm afraid I have to buck the trend. Our party consisted of two 40 something couples and over 2 weeks we ate in 11 different restaurants. Two of our party were very fussy eaters but we were allways crystal clear on exactly how we required our food and we honestly did not have too many problems in most Tavernas. Zeppos unfortunately commited the ultimate sin. One meal was requested as plain "Steak and chips, no sprinkles no additives no sauces etc, etc. When it arrived it had Oregano all over it. No problem we sent it back. When it returned it looked fine until my freind turned the steak over to see the oregano all over it. They had changed the chips and turned the steak over!!! This was the ultimate insult to a customers inteligence. We filled in the survey given to us before we left and never went back.

Sorry to buck the trend on here but we visited and once the waiter had finished fussing around after a Greek family who arrived well after us we were told not to panic our water would come eventually!
Food was salty and this was a very average meal with poor service.By the way still waiting on the second bottle of water.We just paid the bill and left

Is there two Zepos Tavernas in Kalamki as I agree with the previous writer that it is at best an average restaurant.

Firstly the postitives, the setting was nice and the staff were really friendly. The food also arrived fairly quickly.

I had grandmothers chicken, which I think had been recommended on this site and it was admittedly very nice, but it came with chips, which were horrible and a salad smothered in vinegar dressing. My girlfriend had grilled prawns and there were hardly any of them and certainly not worth 11€.

We only went the once so may have gone on an off night, but based on my experience 5/10 seems fair to me.

The family all enjoyed our meals at Zepo's even the two year old. We had meals here on a few occasions and enjoyed everything about this place. The food was excellent as were the staff (and didn't the blonde waitress look like Nush from Big Brother). If you intend going to Kalimaki then please give this taverna a try.
Many thanks to the owner who personally cooked our breakfast one morning, as we arrived an hour too early before opening, and also for the tips on the little coves you suggested we visit - you were right they were fantastic.

Ecellent meals here, very good service, and great setting, what more can you ask for.

Zeppo's definatly the nicest restraunt we had been to in ages, even as good if not better than Micaeols.The Lamb Kleftico was very tasty & the kids meals were excellent value, 3 courses for only about 3 euro!!
Good cooking & lovely staff made our meal times at Zeppo's memorable & very enjoyable.

We visited Zepos on many occasions during our holiday. Every time it was first class and our little baby Elisa was even tempted to eat the Parrot!!!!!!!!! However, there was no suitable sauce available. We'd like to thank the staff at Zepos for making our holiday even more enjoyable and certainly more tasty!!!!!

This one got our gold star, not just because the food was good, but also the ambience and the friendly staff. We visited it 6 times during our holiday.

The soups (onion and vegetable) are wonderful, and we didn't have anything that we disliked. The food was always hot, nicely presented and the staff were attentive.

Definitely worth a visit...

Excellent! wewent here twice ( once for breakfast) and both times we were impressed with the service, food and price. The english breakfast is HUGE and very delicious. As is the lasagne & the portions are giant. An excellent choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Wanted to go back but unfortunatly ran out of time.

Thank you for responding - another example of the excellent service at Zepos. I have been foolish enough to offer my views on other restaurant (Mermaids) sites only to find my intelligence (and indeed my sexuality!) being called into doubt. I should add that my family and I have always enjoyed Zepos and look forward to seeing you again.

What can I say? Easily the best restaurant in Kalamaki and believe me, we tried everywhere. Welcome was superb, the service was superb and the food was even better. Not much more I can say. Between Zepos and Mermaids, Zepos would win every time. Just a classier place all round!

This had be the BEST restaurant on the whole island.The food was wounderful,the service was fast and friendly and the price was one of the best around.The english breakfasts taste fantasic and there is a very wide range of meals from hamburer and chips to traditional Greek meals.The only problem is the location because its a bit out of the way.

Hello everyone at zepos taverna, well i have been extremely naughty as i promised i would put a comment onto this site for my friends at zepos when i returned from holiday the end of may.
It seems such along time ago that my family and i stumbled across this fantastic restaurant and was approached by this bubbly young girl by the name of Toni, who was full of the joys of spring, i have to say it was one of the warmest welcomes we have ever had!!!
I have a daughter of 9 and a son of 17, i have to say my son was very impressed with this little beauty!! it was amusing for my husband and i to watch him squirm whenever she approached with her winning smile!! I have to say Toni you broke his heart when he found out you was expecting a baby and even more heart broken when you kissed jimmy the waiter goodbye one night!!
Well enough of my chit chat, this restuarant is one of the nicest restuarants both for food and atmosphere!! we are returning next year, and have booked our holiday in july this time, we looked forward to seeing you all and i wish jimmy and Toni the best luck for the future and can guarantee that there baby will be smashing looking!!
However if ever you want a toy boy Toni, Steven will be waiting and we would welcome your smile into our family any day!!!

Hello all, just thought I'd drop a line to say how much me and my friends enjoyed going to Zepos. The food was wonderful especially the garlic mussels and the swordfish, and my friend said the lamb stamnas was gorgeous. We stumbled upon it by chance on our third nite and ate there every nite after that. Wonderful views of the sea and the mountains (and Jimmy the waiter!) made it even better. Thanks to Tony for looking after us, pouring our wine and generally making a fuss, see you in Zeros next time eh?! Oh and if you don't like the complimentary ouzo ask for the cinnamom brandy instead - its lovely!

Zepos was recomended to us by a friend and i am pleased to say that we took the time out in our holiday to visit---- (several times)
We can honestly say that the staff were friendly and gave a very good service. we would like to say a special Thankyou to jimmy who made us feel very important and not just another customer.
Food was plentiful and of good quality and being an O.A.P it was good to get good value for our money.
Although you may have to walk a little way to get to zepos, i think its worth the effort.
Thanks again to all, we will be back!!!

If you want friendly approachable people who supplies excellent food at great value i would recomend you visit zepos Taverna.
Always willing to accomodate your likes and dislikes without you feeling that you are troublesome!!

We visited Zepos every other night of our two weeks stay in Zante the food was good value for money but could be overcooked, the mixed grill and the lamb chops, the oven cooked food was better but the desserts were excellent. Laura and Denis were excellent members of staff. The location has to be the best in the world.

So glad we found Zepos this time - well worth a visit. Set in a semi-rural location, away from the hustle and bustle of the main resort areas, but still within easy walking distance. We found the atmosphere relaxing, whislt the service was efficient. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable about the varied dishes on offer. The menu was extensive and more varied than most of the local competitors. We tried most of the chicken dishes and all were excellent, in taste, quality and value for money. The bill was always lees than expected, ans the complimentary ouzo completed the enjoyable experience of eatin out at Zepos. We struggled to find other restaurants offering better quality, service and value for money elsewhere in Kalamaki - we will return!

We found Zepo's while out for a walk, once we tried the food we went back every night as the service was excellent in particular Laura (who remembered the childrens names after one visit) The food was the best and cheapest we found in the area. Oh please! If you are going to advertise please do so elsewhere not in what is supposed to a forum for independent comment. The location is great and the service is always wonderful, but the food can only be described as average. Avoid the mixed grill or lamb chops as these dishes do tend to be cremated rather than cooked. Onion soup is the best in the world, mussels in garlic are wonderful.

A close second to Mikaelos, but not that close!
If you feel like having a quality meal by the sea, then Zepos is for you.

The food was good, service was good & the price was good, suppose you could say it was GOOD!

But what ever you do dont go to Stanis, which is nearby, the service is dreadful & the food aint up to much either.

This is the favourite. This restaurant can't be faulted - the menu is extensive and authentic, the meals are delicious, the service good, and the location is just perfect - views of the sea, the mountains, and fields with rabbits gambolling about. The prices are lower than most places, and when we mentioned to the (stunning, but happilly married) manager that most places charge extra for a sea view, he said that the vista was a gift from God. My friend proposed to his girlfriend there and had the whole taverner in tears - we couldn't have found a beetr spot.
It's open at lunchtimes too - GO THERE!

The restaurant was great and the service was fast and friendly.....I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Zepos and the lovely suroundings. Can't wait to return to Zepos

this place is excellent the food is hot, the waiters are cheerful and friendly and the price is cheap, abit of a walk from our apartments but well worth it, try their grandmothers chicken one of the best meals I had on the island .

good food overall, meat a little tough, good service, good location,good for lunch too,the only place we found that was decent at lunch time.

A really nice place, out on its own near the beach. The staff were new for the season and couldn't answer any questions about the food, but friendly enough to compensate. Great range of food (hence the questions). I had a nice mussel starter, my main was okay but I picked the wrong dish. My wife's Mousakka was really nice. Well worth a visit.

Hello all. I have been eating at this restaurant for the past 3 summers. My knowledge of Zante, and especially restaurants in Zante is extensive, as I frequently vacation there. Zepos is by far the best tasting food I have had on the island.
It looks like I wont be able to make it to Greece this year... Maybe Jim and his father can send me some food via Federal Express or something. LOL
All jokes aside, I highly recommend having a meal at Zepos. I can assure you that you will keep going back for more.

We stayed in Laganas and we went twice as the food and service was so good!

Lovely taverna by the beach (across the road from the Crystal hotel). One of the few places in Kalamaki that does a decent moussaka in a pot (as opposed to a slice with chips, etc). The deserts all looked wonderful (we had a chicago ice cream). Good service.

A lovely garden setting on the beach road. They were having a bad night when we went there - the roast potatoes had finished, most of the desert items were unavailable and my wife didn't enjoy her meal, my meal was one of the best I had during my stay.

service was good.food would have been nice if it wasnt served luke warm.staff friendly and helpful.

It was great! But to make it absolutely 100% perfect Emily (my daughter) would have liked sparklers in her dessert. We ate there 2-3 times, I particularly enjoyed the pikali starters.

Went there for the Greek eveing one night. - had a really good evening's entertainment, and the food was superb (load of it too!). Overall a top night - one of the better one we had whilst we were in Zante.

Nice location overlooking the beach. Food was ok but Chris's main course was very spicy and there was no warning on the menu, and my mixed souvlaki was burned at one end. The generous ice cream portions certainly put out the fire (once the sparklers had gone out). Good breakfasts. Louise was amused by the ginger cat which appeared by the table awoken, cartoon like, by the smell of cooked bacon.

This restaurant must be one of the best in Kalamaki along with Mikaelos,very little to choose between them.The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and attentative.There is a good choice on the menu, I would recommend the Ham & Cheese crepes for the starter,excellent.The Kleftico is also very good but it is rather a large portion.

This was the best restaurant that we went to. Everything was excellent. Lots to choose from and the greek specialities were lovely. the service was also excellent, and the waiters were very friendly and made you feel welcome. We liked it so much that we were always gutted if we went anywhere else and the standard was not as high!The house wine was also equally as excellent. I would advise people to wear a loose waistband whilst eating here as the portions are big and 3 courses are definitely recommended.

Very good very friendly, we have eaten her many times on our two visits. I would say its one of the best Tavernas on the Island and the location is great. They will also cook specials if you ask try the rabbit local style its great. We have tried many of the different dishes all very good good portions and very friendly service. At very good prices. if you want a touch of greece,in the best of settings with good service, great food(try the grilled fish but for the chocaholics youve got to have the chocolate supprise brill)and great value thanks jimmy youve got a great place hope to see you soon roy &sue.

We went here a couple of times. Very accomodating staff, lovely food, my two main courses were chicken and bacon souvlaki and lamb kleftiko, both of which were superb. Did anyone strike up conversation with the english waitress. She looked very young (and pale!) just wondered how she ended up there.

By far the best restaurant in Kalamaki, excelent all round, This was the one all the family agreed as the best. as remarked elsewhere beside being the best service, food and price it still gave courtesy drinks and free lolipops for the children, one of the few in Kalamaki, fully deserves a 10/10 rating

The best resteraunt in Kalamaki. Good food, great service, good prices - free shots with the bill (Lollipops for the kids) - next time we go back we'll eat here every night (except Sunday - Greek night at Stanis)

Great restaurant. Would recommend the Pork in lemon sauce and the Beef in a pot. Catered well fo kids. Had a great atmosphere. A bit out of the way but well worth the walk.

just got back from kalamaki.I tried zepos on the advice i found here. Good food,good service & very good value. Try the mixed grill!!

The food here was not all its cracked up to be. It was cold and the beef stifado looked as though someone had opened a can and thrown a few onions in for measure. The rice and vegs were cold. The steak was dry and cold.

Watch out for the Lamb Diavole - it lives up to it's English translation (copious amounts of water required to cool the throat down afterwards!). Meals are good value and the Ice-cream parfait is definitely worth a try. Service is good though it can get a bit busy around 9pm.

Just want to endorse all the previous good comments - great setting, food and service and definitely the best restaurant of all the (many) we tried in Kalamaki. Would happily recommend Zepos to anyone who enjoys real food!

This has to be the BEST RESTAURANT in Kalamaki. Good food,value for money,more than excellent service that not even Mermaids could beat.We went back time after time.The chicken croquettes with chilli sauce as a starter and the Red Snapper as a main course. Also great is the Lamb as it melts in your mouth.Well one final thing to add Maryliz hello and thankyou for making a good holiday a great one. Dean and Wilco in Holland. xxx

Zepos was the best Taverna we found in Kalamaki. The fresh fish (Sea Bream), which I had twice was fantastic. We ate there 4 times over two weeks and the staff were really friendly as well. Also try the Rose wine which is produced on the island.

Our 2nd choice for eating out beaten only by the not yet mentioned bakkus grill, Zeppo's is a loverly taverna with a family feel in good surroundings, the food was good and not too over facing (like at mermaids) 9 out of 10.

Very good food, a peaceful beautiful taverna. Chairs and tables good for very large people only, our 6-year-old had to eat on the grass cause the table was too high and they had only baby chairs.

IF YOU GO TO ZEPOS HAVE THE SMOKED TROUT STARTER - LOVELY EXCELLENT FOOD. THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT TOO. OUR FAMILY STAYED IN KALAMAKI FOR 2 WEEKS AND THE LAST 4 DAYS WE WENT TO ZEPOS AS WE FOUND THEM TO BE THE BEST TAVERNA AT THE RESORT. ZEPOS IS VERY NEAR TO THE BEACH. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY BY TRYING EVERY TAVERNA OUT - VIST ZEPOS!

Everthing about the place was good - until I awoke the next morning and realised how much I'd been charged. First night there, tired, slightly drunk - ripped off - possibly. Well worth a visit but watch the bill.

We visited Zepo's twice during our stay in Kalamaki. On the second visit my partner chose to propose to me. The staff were excellent and even provided a bottle of champers!!! (by the way I said yes). We would both recommend a visit as the food was delicious and the atmosphere really friendly.

Rest of the family liked it, although my meal was bland. Good location with sea views.

Most eateries are called Tavernas, but Zepo’s has a distinct bistro atmosphere about it with a stylish presentation of classic Greek fare. Good food, good service, good local wine. It’s at the East end of the resort opposite Crystal Beach Hotel. Well worth walking those extra few yards. Oh yes – and the kids can choose from their own menu while you enjoy the rest. Grown ups - try the ‘Zakynthian Mussels’!

Just got back from Kalamaki, and used a lot of the information from this website to make the most of our holiday. There is no doubt that Zepos is a brilliant place to eat, I would rank it equal first alongside restaurant "Hera" (which unfortunately does not have a seperate listing here). Both restaurants are on the fringes of the resort, and therefore do not get packed out, allowing great service and high quality. The quality and price of the meals turned this holiday into a somewhat "gourmet" experience for us......it was wonderful. Zepos also sell a superb white wine for about 1800drm (about £3.50) called IMIGLYKOS....a local Zakynthos wine that has a beautiful nutty taste. Dont visit Kalamaki without visiting Zepos and Hera !!!

We found this beautiful taverna on our second to last night in Zakynthos. Even though we were staying in another resort we got a taxi there for two nights running on the reccomendation of another family. Food is excellent and I would reccomend it to everyone. They are especially good with children.

Thought the food, service and atmosphere was all excellent in this great little restaurant. By far the nicest restaurant we have been in and have been coming to Greece for years. Staff so warm and friendly, house wine good, meal cheap, food divine - what more can you want. Will be coming back to Kalamaki if only just to spend some more time in this first class eatery!

Well positioned near the beach. My husband ordered a vegetarian dish, Giant Beans, which looked a bit dull but he said it tasted alright, then he found a bit of metal in it! They gave him another one and didn't charge for it, maybe we were just unlucky!

Great service - staff very friendly. Great food both traditional Greek and more usual steaks etc. Child friendly, nice location near the beach. House wines are good unlike many other Greek restaurants !. Zepos special dessert is huge so dont order one each.

I have just come back from spending the first week of the holiday season in Kalamaki and I can say, without a doubt, that Zepos is superb. I went to one taverna beforehand but after my first meal there I went back every evening. The food is first class and very traditional, the staff are really friendly and welcoming and will always find a couple of minutes to have a chat. I plan to go back to Kalamaki next year and I know I'll be eating at Zepos again !!!!!!!!

I personally thought it was the best restaurant in Kalamaki - well worth a visit even if you stay in Laganas (£3 cab ride). Very nice people and unlike most of the other restaurants, the food is very authentic.
